She is a very good teacher. She knows what she is talking about and helps you if you need it.
knows her stuff, but mumbles it out, not very clear.. always late to class and gets sidetracked with her own stories- causing us to suffer where we need the most help.
She is always late if you take her in the morning!! She was even late the day of the final. She hardly ever shows up so you miss alot of material. Hard to listen to and understand. NOT A GOOD TEACHER!!
Excellent instructor! Knows the material tremedously well and really enjoys it. Especially helpful if you need additional instruction. Caring instructor who really does want you to succeed! I've taken two of her classes and definitely recommend them.
this woman is chronically late!Once, she showed up 30 minutes late, and it is only a 50 minute class! She mumbles all the time and stands directly in front of the board when she is writing, so the class has no idea what she is writing down!NOT RECOMMENDED
This woman is ALWAYS late !! She has difficulty staying focused on the subject. She is easily sidetracked!! She stands directly in front of the board as she is writing on it. You have no clue as to what she is writing.
HORRIBLE!!!HORRIBLE!!!HORRIBLE!!! I HATE THIS CLASS IT IS 3 WEEKS TIL THE CLASS IS OVER AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY I HAVE NOT LEARNED ANYTHING AT ALL. I HAVE ATTENDED EVERY CLASS....IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY... U CANT HEAR HER...SHE DOES NOT PREPARE
barely into the semester and i can already tell this is not good. she stands in front of what she is writing, or just sits and teaches to her book. moves way too fast and speaks to softly. when beginning students catch her mistakes, there is a problem!
this teacher was always 20 mins late for class, she mumbled through the lecture and she spoke about her divorce, kids, and life problems through the whole class. It's an easy 'A' because everyone can copy each other's quizes before class because she's late!!
She is always late, stands in front of what she writes on the board. She is really understanding though and wants her students to succeed. She knows more about acct. than most people will every imagine learning. I recommend her to anyone who needs the class but wants it easy.
She stands in front of what she is writing. She mumbles. She comes to class late everyday. Her tests are fairly easy and so are her quizzes. The class is very boring but it is pretty easy.
I like this teacher because is it helpful and goes through the test and the quizes are take home and if you listen in class and takes notes it will be an easy A. Just talk to her when you need help and she will help you. Im glad that i had a teacher like her.
This instructor is late to class everyday, but she also apologized and explained to us why. She is very knowledgable about accounting. If you have any questions she is more than happy to answer them for you. I am taking her again for managerial accounting and recommend her to everyone.
She does talk quiet and she is late, but she is a really good teacher. If you attend class, take notes and ask questions, you can pass this class easily. She will work with you any way she can.
Always late and usually will cry during class.

What tha ?!?!?! Who hired this teacher ?!?!?!
Great teacher, sometimes she was late, but only a few minutes. Clear speaker, easy to understand the concepts. Optional homework to help out, managed an A in both classes without doing the homework, just the quizzes. Key to these classes are paying attention to the lectures and studying the quizzes.
Late...ALWAYS LATE, has serious personal issues!
Yes, this teacher was always late, but I just learned to get to class late and it wasn't a problem. Although she was late, she was a good teacher overall. Take home quizes, no homework grades.
I dunno...I think maybe it was just the class?
This teacher is very good at what she does. Her career is in accounting first an accountant then a teacher. She has the knowlege and experience. Yes she is late but "hey" who cares this just means that class is starting later.
She is such a good teacher. Will not move on to another subject until everyone understands. Will do as many examples as it takes. Always explains very clearly, organized. I took her for both Managerial & Financial and made A's in both. She also gives plently of extra credit.
Great accountant horrible teacher. Can not stand to listen to this woman. I have to get up and leave just to calm down because she makes me angry. Ive loved all my other business classes but someone with this much problems should not be teaching.
great teacher, everyone in my class loves her, she teaches good and her tests are over the material she teaches in class...i recommend her to everyone
Just....dont even bother
Would not recommend this one! Teacher doesn't want to answer emails. Then she got our review to us the day before the final. I will not take this teacher ever again. I was happy with her in Fin Acct. but severly disappointed for Mgr. Acct.
She is a great teacher. Gives great examples. Her take home quizzes are easy and her test come right off of the quizzes. She sometimes even gives straight test questions in class. Yea, she is sometimes late, but who does that benefit?
She is Great!!!I took Karft last semester, didn't miss a class, studied my butt off and got a B.Broyles's Class, miss all the classes except review days and exam days, got 97% just read the book and do the take home quizzes. Questions are predictable. Very EASY. miss as many class as you want.
SHE IS SO BORING!! LECTURE SUCKS!! BUT SHE DOES CURVE HER TESTS!
I am sooo glad I got her. I am learning every class day. I feel certain I will understand this subject when the class has completed.
Mrs. Broyles is very helpful and understanding. She tries in every way possible to make sure everyone understands the topics before moving on. I would reccomend her to anyone!
Great teacher! Anyone who has left negative comments about her is too stupid to be in an accounting class anyway. Explains the subject clearly and makes sure all students understand the material (except the stupid ones of course)
Mrs. Broyles is a good instructor! She is very thorough during her lectures. Gives take home quizzes that are solely based on lecture and notes. Tests are very similar to quizzes. If you pay attention, there is no reason not to do well in this class. She also always makes sure everyone understands before moving on. Definitely recommend her!
I was skeptical at first, but this lady knows her stuff. Her lectures were so clear, and she tried her best to make sure that everyone understood what was going on. She would show up late (10 minutes sometimes) for class, but that is not really a problem. I would definately take her again, and all of her tests are multiple choice.
This teacher is the best accounting teacher I've come across. She is a teacher that actually teaches the class. She listens to your questions and answers them very thoroughly, explains everything step by step, and does want her students to do good. She has a mellow personality, seems like she doesn't have a sense of humor, but does.
great teacher, learn a lot without having to do a bunch of homework! I would recommend her for Financial Accounting and I plan on taking her managerial accounting class. If you can learn the basic accounting principles you will do great in this class!
Mrs. Broyles is a super teacher. I took her for Financial and Managerial Accounting...She doesn't teach directly out of the book, which to me is great. She really knows are stuff and you don't have to read the textbook inorder to understand her class. She also gives enough information on her "take-home" quizes to pass the test.
very nice lady, i enjoyed her class. she's helpfull if u have questions and she explains the material throughly. the tests are all mult choice and she drops the two lowest quiz scores. all you have to do is study the material on the quizes and you'll ace the tests. take this class
She is a really good teacher. I always felt prepared for the tests, and the quizzes were take-home. I would definitely recommend taking her class. I'm taking her again for managerial acct.
Hate accounting but Mrs. Broyles wasnt bad. There are 8-10 take home quizzes given throughout the semester which are easy. 4 tests but they are just like the quizzes so keep them and use as a study guide. Final is over all 16 chapters but gives you a study guide that is ordered by number of the test. I made a high A and again hate acc.
Attend class, pay attention, do the hw & you'll do well in her class. She's a great instructor, she relates the material to easily understood concepts. It's great Mary is laid back, but it's annoying. She semiallows the students to control the atmosphere, somewhat tolerating socializing & digression of the subject by answering irrelivant questions.
If you get on her good side at the beginning and pay attention every once in a while she will practically give you an A. This is my second class to take with her and I made a A in the fist one and a 97.6 so far in Managerial.... Overall she is nice, she tries to be funny, and she is sypathetic to questions.
She is a good teacher, watch out for her sense of humor, it might sneek up on you. The class was easy if you listen to her and take some notes. Tests are sometimes hard to figure out, but if you read the whole question you can get the right answers.
Ms. Broyles is very laid back, but caring. I enjoyed her class. She doesn't maintain authority over the class (students talking in class or putting up their things 10 minutes before class is over,) which is semi-annoying in a college level course. Otherwise, I highly recommend her. She has a vast level of experience in the real world & teaching.
Mrs. Broyles is great! I had little interest in Accounting and turns out I love it. She is very helpful and explains each topic precisely. I recommend her class. I am taking her for Managerial in the spring.
I took Mrs Broyles for both Financial and Managerial this past semester. She is a great teacher. She expains things where you can easily understand them, and when you don't she will take the time to go through it until you do. She makes sure you are well-prepared for each quiz/test. Overall great experience!
Gets off on tangents then forgets where she was
She is rarely on time but her class is easy to follow. Take home work is straight from her lecture and if you take notes the work will be simple. Attend class, do the work and you will get a good grade.
Mrs. Broyles is a good teacher. While she gets off the subject and is almost always late she wants to make sure you understand what is going on in the class. She reviews over the tests the class before and are based off the quizzes she gives. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you want an A go to class. Also learn to take good notes with this class.
She is such a soft spoken person that it is hard to stay awake! Easy enough class. Always late and gets off subject quite a bit. Has a lot of take home quizzes and all tests are only 25 questions long (except for the final)
Like others have said: get on her good side by paying attention, doing the homework (which usually isn't that hard, but is well worth the effort), and shutting up. I'm in the middle of the second fast track of the semester with her, and she hates our class because of some of the students who carry on throughout the whole class.
Dont sit at the back of the room because you won't be able to see what she writes on the board. When i go to class, i feel like I understand what she's teaching, then I get to the homework or the quiz and I'm really confused. I like her but you have to take good notes. Make sure you study before the tests. She always review you.
Go to class or you will miss quizzes. She gives great examples on board, so take good notes. Not an easy A class, study for tests. This class was a lot more challenging that I thought it would be, but I am taking her for Managerial, so it couldn't be that bad!
Yes, she is soft spoken, but is really nice. Just have a bit of patience. Even though she's late, she gets through the lesson plan. Just remember how to do all the formulas and you're good to go. I really don't understand half the stuff, but I am passing w/ flying colors from the take home quizes, short tests and no graded homework.
I took the 8 week class, and it is fast, but I made an A. If you plan on taking a faster track class NEVER miss a day, or you'll pay for it! I would take her again.
I had to take a accounting class and was told she was hard but when I got to class she was the most laid back teacher that I have ever had and I'm not one for ANY math but she made it EASY to understand Show up for class, there are take home quizs and they are close to the test!!! Study and you will be fine... AND SHE IS HOTT!!!!
I took her for an 8 week Fin class and she made it Pretty easy and then I decided to take her for a 3 week managerial class the material is tough but she wont move on until you understand it,very useful, along with the take home quizes. Show up and you'll be fine, the tests go along with the quizes. She is a GREAT teacher, worth taking! And HOTT :)
I did not like the teacher. She always sat in front of the board so no one could read the board, she taught useless things sometimes, and has a very monotone and soft voice that puts people to sleep and does not seem to control the class at all.
I took the 8 week class of accounting. she was nice, but so boring i tried so hard to stay awake in that class. she was kind of lazy, she just sat on a chair and wrote on the board, and we couldnt read her hand writing very well. the tests were difficult too. i am just happy i only had to sit through her class for 8 weeks.
Easy enough class. Make sure to attend, keep notes the way that she gives them on the board, keep quizzes as that is what the test will look exactly like. Gives a good review for comprehensive final. If you apply yourself, even minimally that you should pass with a C, if you try, then a B or A easily.
I took her for Financial Accounting and will not take her again. The class was boring and i had a hard time staying awake in it. Couldn't read what she wrote on the board. she just about never left her chair. Monotone. Wouldn't recommend.
I just took Mr.Broyles this summer of 2010 for Financial Accounting and I'm very impressed. The class is very educational. I never expected to get a real life stories from the Ms. Broyles life about her experiences in accounting industry. I'm so grateful for everything she's done I'm taking the Managerial acct. with her too. She's firm but very fair
She goes out of her way for students. If you do the work you will get a good grade. She is firm, fair and consistent. She even give real world information and makes suggestions to improve your ability in the business world. I will have her again this fall and grateful for it.
She has extensive knowledge in the field, but can be difficult to follow. Encourages the book, but does not follow it for lectures or notes. Gives weekly quizzes and 3 tests with a comprehensive final.
Monotone, hardly leaves her chair, doesn't follow the book at all, has a hard time explaining things clearly. Not recommended.
Mrs. Broyles is the BEST! I hate that most of the accounting classes are all now on the computer and everything is done online. Mrs. Broyles takes the time to explain something if you don't understand something. I recommend her to anyone who doesn't like taking courses online or does better with paper quizzes and tests.
She is so kind and gives great examples! If you talk in her class, she will get on to you. I feel like I have a great foundation to start my Accounting degree.
Nice lady, but she was always 5+ minutes late for class!! You will learn stuff in her class, but it's all the paper and pencil way (which isn't a bad thing but in today's world you need to know both!) If your wanting to learn the modern way of accounting which would be on computers do not take her!
The class was not my favorite. She is a decent teacher, she has been in the field a very long time. I would maybe recommend her.
She is very nice and helpful. I enjoyed the class. It was not an easy subject for me to learn but I got through with the class. I would recommend her. She knows her stuff!
Fantastic instructor!! Took her financial & managerial accounting fast tracks back to back in fall 2011. I really appreciated that she is not a "power point" instructor who mindlessly reads slides or uses the computer. She uses the pencil & paper accounting method which truly teaches you the principles of accounting. Highly recommended!!
Mrs. Broyles was the best teacher that I had at TCC. She gave me a great foundation for accounting in both the financial and managerial classes. I took each class in 8-weeks and she did not make it overly difficult given the pace. Attendance isn't required but you will fall behind if you don't show. Very clear at explaining everything! Take her!
She gets distracted easily but is very helpful with providing review before exams.
Mary Broyles is not a bad teacher, however she is also not that great either. She's pleasant enough however she rarely leaves her chair, which makes it difficult to see the board. Very hard for the visual learner. Doesn't follow the book real well either. She seemed to know what she was talking about though.
She is an excellent teacher. Took her summer class and as long as you show up for class and study, you will get an A. My only suggestion is that she is not always at her office during office hours, so email or call ahead.
She is a sweet lady, very soft spoken. All work is done on paper and assignments are short. The bad point is there is no extra help from the computer program to help you if you don't quite grasp it, and the book sucks. It may be the subject, but this was the most boring class ever, and made me realize I don't want to be an accountant.
Wonderful teacher! lectures are clear and she is always answering questions.
She's a good teacher. May be a boring lecturer but she was helpful and very understanding. I enjoyed having her as a professor.
Hard 8 wk class. Never could quite soak in the information. Do not miss or you will be lost. All work is on paper, no computer program. She is truly an expert, but it can be hard to keep up with what she is saying. All work is basically algebra word problems. Would recommend 16 wk vs 8 wk class.
I really liked this class and teacher, definitely taking her for my other acct classes. I heard a lot of people griping about her, but if you take notes and pay attention you should do great. Her test problems are almost identical to the practice problems and the quiz questions. I didn't use the book once.
Her syllabus explains exactly what is expected so there are no surprises. She drops the two lowest quiz grades. She gives a detailed study guide before each exam. Great teacher! I am going to take her for managerial accounting as well.
She's monotone, only applies the material instead of defining it first, and she's rude. Wouldn't take her course again and don't plan to for my other accounting courses.
She does not even stand up to teach the class. She sits in a rolly-chair and writes low on the white board so it is hard to see. She explains what she is doing while writing, however she is facing the board and does not talk loud enough to compensate for not facing the class. She seems scatter-brained. But the weekly quizzes help for tests.
Doesn't get up from chair to teach. Soft spoken. Scatter-brained occasionally. The 3 hour long class is just plain PAINFUL, long and boring. Didn't use textbook at all, just charts which she passes out.
Anyone who complains on this site about Mrs. Broyles wants their grade handed to them. She is NOT hard. Weekly Quizzes, but will help you if you struggle. Tests are almost identical to the quiz questions. IF you can do her quizzes, you can do well on her tests. Not hard at all. You won't use the book. Sweet Lady, very experienced accountant!
Nice woman but she is very confusing. Not good at teaching.
Ms. Broyles is a great accounting teacher! While not the most dynamic person, she absolutley knows her stuff and she is very clear about what is expected of you. She is very fair and always willing to help. Pay attention in class and study and you won't have a problem. Anyone who complains about her just wants the easy "A". I learned a LOT.
Took the 8 week financial accounting. You must show up to pass. Her lectures can be long but she will do anything she can to help you. Tests can be rough if you're unsure of the material.
Professor Broyles knows her stuff about accounting, but she has a hard time conveying it in lecture. If you drop by her office after class she is very willing to go more in depth and find a way for you to relate material to your memory, but if you just attend lecture the class can be tough. Definitely not an easy A
Mary is an awesome professor. I had her for both financial and managerial accounting last semester. Both 8 week courses. If you show up and pay attention you will not be disappointed. I know so much more about accounting thanks to her. Great professor. Fair grading and learning times even for an 8 week course.
Just took the 8wk financial acct and it was easier than expected. I honestly don't know what half these bad reviews are complaining about. Show up to class, take notes, do the assignments and you will do just fine. Its not an easy A but the course work isn't overly complicated or burdensome either. In fact, this was my easiest class this semester.
Barely leaves her chair to teach and is very monotoned so lecture is hard to pay attention to. She tends to get off topic in lectures. Slightly rude when questions were asked.
She helped me decide my major. She was utterly devoted to ensuring that her students understood. Wonderful woman!
GREATEST Accounting instructor. Anyone that complains about her on here wanted an easy grade. Yeah she doesn't get out of her chair but that never bothered me. If you show up to class, do the quizzes and listen in class you'll get at least a B. If you don't understand something, she's great at explaining until you understand.
You need the book because you learn nothing from the long drawn out lectures. Hard to follow. Sits in her chair the entire time when she should be doing diagrams on the board to clarify. She knows what she's doing but can't convey it to students.
AWESOME- Prof. Broyles goes over in class and then post hand outs online to help. This is not a blow off class, you have to do the work. She explains the concepts and makes it easy to do the work. She is eager to help, and kind. Also has a good sense of humor. I would definitely take a class of hers again.
Took the fast track class at the end of summer; it was hard but Prof. Broyles made it easier with her handouts, lectures and help. I enjoyed the class, she has a great way of explaining formulas, and processes. I would take another class with her as the teacher.
Broyles is really good and if you say you are confused with certain material she will explain it in another way. Each test had a study guide and overall, the tests were easy if you take the time to prepare for them. You will not need the textbook. The textbook will only confuse you. Just take notes and read over the notes she posts online.
I thought she was great. Sometimes hard to follow but always willing to help IF YOU ASK. If not she will assume you know how to do it. The study guides help significantly for the exam and most of the time she will tell you what questions are on the test.
Mary Broyles is a real, hands-on accountant. Real life, respectable experience. If you're serious about this subject, so is she, take her class.
This is my second class with Mary and let me just say she is a very good teacher. In managerial she gives attendance points and those really help. She knows her stuff and is happy to help you when you ask for it. She is a good teacher, one of the best Acct teachers at TCC. Exams can be harder so make sure you study for them.
Lectures are long and can be pretty confusing. Sometimes she has to back track because it appears she does not know what she is talking about. She is nice but I would not take her class again.
She's very attentive to her students and takes the time to demonstrate the most efficient way to go about solving a problem while also explaining the "why"s. She's also easygoing and understanding and her class is no problem to pass as long as you show up, do the quizzes, and ask questions when you have them.
Very friendly and helpful teacher. But if you are not a quick learner, I would not recommend this class. I was very confused the entire time and am having to retake the class. Very hard to follow.
She's very patient and she really does care about her students.
I aspire to be an accountant and learning from a knowledgeable and experienced accountant who knew what she was doing was great. I took knowledge I learned even in the first few weeks and talked about them with a good level of understanding with other accountants that I know. Very knowledgeable and very helpful. Just do the work and study.
I would highly recommend Professor Broyles. She is very organized, and you will know what is expected of you. I recommend taking notes in class, even though she will post them online as well. It helps you learn the material. Tests are like the take-home quizzes, so if you prepare, you can get an A. Take advantage of every extra credit opportunity.
No clue why anyone would give this lady less than a 5. She does her job and truly cares whether or not you understand the material. You have to do the work!
Mary is a good person but that doesn't make her a good teacher. Her lectures are excruciating to sit through. As she drones on and on about things she hasn't explained yet its very easy to get lost. Once you fall behind good luck getting back on track in this class. Can't believe I have to take her again for Managerial Accounting.
Prof. Broyles is a great teacher. She is a tough grader. But i definitely take her again. I took her for Managerial Accounting at TCC it is a difficult class, she tries her best to make it interesting! If accounting is your major, definitely take her!
You will need to study for this class(as for any college class). Mary is very organized and grades quickly. At times I didn't follow what she was talking about. But I mean we all learn differently so it's not her fault. I just watched kahn videos online. She moves fast, but she knows what she's talking about. I would take her again.
Prof. Broyles is very organized and grades assignments quickly. She truly cares if you understand the materials or not and will give extra explanation if asked. She knows all of the ins and outs of accounting. She does move fast sometimes but will slow down if asked. You won't need the book for her class.
Textbook not required! Kind professor who makes sure that everyone understands what shes lecturing over before she moves on. Take really good notes and review take home quizzes and then the tests will be a breeze!
Professor Broyles is one of my favorite professors ever. I am taking her again for Managerial next semester. Her class does require some work, but I think that is just accounting in general. She truly cares about her job and wants her students to succeed. I rented the textbook because I thought I would need it, but didn't even open it. 10/10.
Organized, great lecturer, reviews before tests, and great about answering questions. No text book is required- all notes are given and are easily understood. A lot of printing is required for course. Only quizzes and tests are for grades, DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS! Took class fast track and was scared to do so! Not necessary, she is awesome!!!
Print off and take notes on the notes she has posted prior to the class. The textbook is optional and a must if you are going to skip sessions. Create a study group or you are screwed. Don't do this class alone!
Self made notes, does not use connect or mylabs plus. Must buy the textbook because examples of problems are not included in notes and must be cross referenced to text. Online tests are proctored.
Professor Broyles is an amazing professor, however, her online class is not setup in a way that is beneficial for all types of learners. Self guided notes are all you have. Really need an online book that tests your knowledge with mini quizzes and such. I wouldn't take her class again, in person would likely be a better option than online.
She's very nice, knows her accounting, and gives some solid tips overall, but I can't help like feeling she could have challenged me more beyond giving multiple choice questions for literally every quiz and test question. I hardly got to fill out journal entries, spreadsheets, or just do anything that I might actually do as an accountant.
I can not believe these people giving Prof Broyles anything less than a 5. She is one of the best professors I have had. She gives extra credit, grades on a curve, answers emails very quickly and wants to make sure you understand. Her lectures are very engaging and fun. She knows her stuff. I wish I could take her with me to NSU next semester!
(Class taken Fall 2021) Professor Broyles makes accounting (both financial and managerial) straightforward and easy to understand. If you show up to class and actually participate you'll do great. No b.s. assignments like other classes, just straightforward quizzes, and exams with plenty of extra credit.
I took managerial accounting with Prof. Broyles online and overall it was a good class but pretty nerve-wracking since it is my last class to graduate. She grades exams on a curve, often offers extra credit points on quizzes and those are your only assignments. Exams are taken with you present on Zoom every other tuesday.
Professor Broyles wasn't awful, but she is tough and never negotiable. My biggest complaint was the way she conducted attendance in my online-live class. I often had wifi problems and couldn't get into zoom right away. If I was even a few minutes late to class, I was counted absent and my grade went down. She wouldn't count it as late.
Great professor. Actually cares about students. Super flexible and willing to work with you. 10/10 would recommend.
Go to class, print out the course material that's given for each class period and you'll pass this class.
If you have trouble on tests do not take her class. I worked hard but her test are most of the grade and they got me behind. I had to Withdraw from her class 3 weeks before the semester would end because I had an F. I asked for help and she just answered that I had to work harder because I was the only one struggling. I hated her class.
Taking this class online with Professor Broyles is very hard. She does not post any videos of her working out the problems so everything has to be read out of the book which makes things much harder than they need to be. I would never want to do this class over again in a million years. She does seem like a very nice lady though.
Prof Broyles knows her subject well, but creates tests that aren't related to class material, and is never negotiable. I had very serious family issues, and was given no allowance when it came to absences or late assignments. Barely passed and only after speaking with my advisor to get help. Would not recommend.
Class' structure is simple. Grade = 20% quizzes + 60% exams + 20% final. All of this is open-note so save all your files and notes. I recommend outside sources to actually learn the material but the written notes she supplies are informative as well.
This professor for the online course is all about teach yourself. She provides the necessary info to complete the course and it is up to you to do the (nongraded) homework each week and pass the 10 question quiz. I am a fan of the layout. The tests are 25 questions and you have 80 minutes to do it over a zoom call. Would take her class again.
Clear instructions, course schedule, and grading. Syllabus is very informative on her office hours outside of class for calls, visits and e-mails. Your 2 lowest quiz grades will be dropped and then average your best 8 quiz grades x 2! The only way to not pass this class is if you don't put in the work and/or don't communicate your issues.
I loved Professor Broyles class. There was a textbook but I found her notes and practice questions easier to follow. Exams are proctored through Zoom and she allows the use of notes. She was quick to reply to questions via email and walk through the explanation with you. Would take this professor again.
Professor Broyles is super sweet. Exams are proctored on zoom, but notes are allowed. The given notes are helpful when learning and useful for tests. I printed off her notes and kept them in a binder to use throughout the course- would recommend especially for the final exam notes! She also has optional 1 on 1 zooms to go over your exams with you!
Professor Broyles' accounting course is well put together and she does a wonderful job of providing notes for each week to help you study in addition to study guides for all tests. Tests are proctored on Zoom and you can use your notes. She is a wonderful professor and I would absolutely take a class with her again.
I wanted to wait until the end of the semester to leave a review as it would be more credible, but first impressions are everything. 1st day of class she gave no introduction of herself or asked the students anything. Jumped right into a lecture. Grumpy demeanor. Points on attendance, but doesn't give credit if 2min late. Rude when I asked question
Professor Broyles is the best!! There is a textbook, but she gives you detailed notes and explains everything very thoroughly, so I've never looked at the book. She always makes sure everyone understands everything before moving on and will gladly answer any questions you have. Quizzes and tests are open notes, so there's no reason to fail.
Professor Broyles runs a well-structured class. Her detailed notes and optional 1-on-1 Zoom sessions are super helpful. The exams can be challenging but manageable with the course materials and Unstuck ai for study prep.
Attendance is absolutely mandatory and makes up a good chunk of your grade. This professor is not flexible if you have serious things in your personal life that come up, good luck!
Lots of prep homework for quizzes and tests. Only tests and quizzes are graded. She is very detailed and organized on the homework and prep materials. She does assign prep materials out of the book as well. Do the assignments to do well in the class!
Class is worth 550 points. 400 are tests (there are four - one is the comprehensive final), 100 are quizzes and 50 are attendance. Quizzes taken at home, tests in class (can use any notes). No homework. Her notes are always posted. Print them before class. First test was hardest for me, final was easy (D on first, A on rest - above A for final).
She is very nice and tells funny stories, but the only thing I don't like, is that she doesn't allow electronics, and all of the information comes from lectures, so if you didn't take an important note, you are screwed lol. However I passed with an A. If you create lots of time to study outside of school, you can pass with an A.
Loved this class, got an A and actually learned all the material. There is no homework, just weekly (ish) quizzes unproctored and she drops the lowest two. 4 exams including the final are proctored through Zoom but are completely open note and you can find all the answers in the notes packet. Super nice! Just work through the weekly notes!
I personally had to teach myself most of the material on my own. Her lectures were hard to follow along. I passed the class with and A but I did not feel ready for managerial accounting. However, she is a sweet lady but unfortunately her teaching style was not for me.
Do not take this as an online course unless you know you are good at managerial accounting! Mary Broyles is a really great professor, cares a lot about her students, and is totally willing to work with you if you are stuck on something, but her online class is not set up well at all. This was the first B I have ever received in my entire life.
