Ms. Buck is amazing. I learned so much in her class. Not much homework but there are a couple of papers. If you study the guide she hands out for tests you will get a good grade. Attendance is a must, fall behind and you wont have a clue. I will take her again if Possible. Sweet, caring, SMART, clear
She was awesome. Favorite prof in my time in college. She cares about the students learning and she makes the class enjoyable as well as educational
She is a darling woman. He exams are not easy but, if you attend class and pay attention, you will do fine. Lots of multi media and she teaches at a pace where the class moves along in a timely fashion and you can take good notes. Take the final paper paper option of the service learning project. My semester with here was delighful.
class is very easy if you study. you don't have to show up but if you miss a participation you have to make it up. she's really interesting to listen to and made psychology fun! great class, wish i could take her again
I really enjoyed Professor Buck. This class was easy as long as you did your work, attended class, and studied
This was my favorite class and teacher this semester. She was very nice, funny, and kept you interested in class. The assignments were mostly in class assignments so attendance is mandatory. But the assignments are really easy if you pay attention. Test are mostly over notes so you rarely use the book, but I would still buy it just in case.
This was my absolute favorite class this semester!! Mrs.Buck is a fanTASTIC professor who is easy to talk to, understand, and gives great information in a way that's fun and interesting. You can tell she loves what she does. :)
This class was an awesome class, Mrs. Buck is a great teacher with easy to follow lectures, and her tests are easy as long as you study. She makes sure you know the materials that are on the test and she follows the syllabus that she gives at the beginning of the semester. NO MAKE UP TESTS, but she will drop the lowest test grade.
Mrs. Buck is an excellent PSYC professor! The class is kinda hard, but if you print all of her powerpoints and read the chapters you should make an A. She is a very sweet and witty teacher, and her lectures are fun and interesting. I highly recommend her for intro!
She by far is the best Professor Iv'e ever had in my college life. She gives great lectures that a full of detail and I have rarely needed to open my book for anything. She loves what she does and makes the class more interesting because of her passion. Her tests reflect the slides in lecture, you need to study, but the class is super easy!
Best teacher that I can remember having. She will explain everything to where it's easy to understand. If you have to take this class take her!!!!!
Prof. Buck is so nice! More like a mom that an teacher actually... Always helpful and sweet. Some extra credit opportunities. She is never patronizing or mean. The lectures are awesome, but she knows a lot of crazy stories. You do a few in class activities, so sit by people you like.
If you have the pleasure of taking her class do it! She tests off her lectures, did little reading, mostly studied notes I took in class so be sure to print her outlines with space for notes about each topic she covers. I loved her. I took her two semesters, once online honors and once in person, 98 or so in both.
Definitely the greatest proffesor I have ever had! She made going to school fun for me.
Professor Buck is great. Her lectures are informative and relatable. She provides outlines for her lectures and they are a life saver, so definitely print them out. I'd say 95% of her tests are based on her lectures and her questions are engaging. I'm glad I chose Professor Buck. She made learning Psychology fun.
She is the sweetest professor I've ever had! I looked forward to going to class everyday! Will definitely take her again if I had too! She made learning the material fun! She posted an outline online. If you used those and the book you will pass the tests!
Excellent professor. Tests are not hard if you study for them. Syllabus was clear cut and allows you to work ahead of yourself the last week of class. Expectations are laid out clearly. You will not be disappointed with this teacher.
Loved this class! 4exams she drops one. Exams easy if you pay attention in class or take notes. I never took notes or studied and aced every exam purely from thoroughly enjoying her lectures. One project with a ton of options (super easy). In class group assignments every now & then(not hard but need to participate). Take her class!
Great summer class. She's SO NICE! This class is very easy. Barely uses the book. 4 tests, 1 dropped. 1 Project, not a tough grader. A few participation/group assgnmnts.. just write A LOT. Wish she'd control the environment, tho.. she permits a lot of distractions - half the class was consistently late, lots of cell phones going off, TALKING, etc.
Love Professor Buck! Her lectures are amazing, funny and easy to reflect off of. Complete test reviews and study them, you are on your way to success. She is so nice. I am taking her again in the Spring :)
Professor Buck was great. She gives great lectures. Very interesting. She posts all the review(great tool for studying) for her 3 tests online for which she drops one test in case you miss a test day or don't do well on one. I will definitely take her for lifespan. She's great. Show up, take notes, study and you'll do well.
Online class includes 16 multiple choice & true/false tests (easy), 10 written assignments, 5 discussion assignments, 1 power point presentation. Extra credit given. Grading can be a little tough, but she is respectful. Do assignments and you will make an A.
I took the online class, we had a group discussion every week and had several tests. The tests however always had questions straight from the book. And she always replied fairly fast when I would email her with questions.
I took Buck last semester in General Psychology & loved her so much I took this class as an elective. She is energetic & wants the best for her students! There is group work in class but if you show up you should make an A. The final exam is a presentation and there's one essay. Everyone should take this class because it benefits you as a person!!
Loved her class
LOVED her teaching style. Her lectures are interesting and informative. She posts lecture outlines to print off so you can listen and take extra notes. Posts exam study guides. 4 exams total including the final, does drop 1 of the first 3. Very organized, clear on what she expects. Textbook is helpful but never used. Will take again!
I took her for the spring and I regret taking her. I don't recommend her to anyone.
I took Mary Buck I the spring semester because my friend told me that she was a good professor and she also had a good rate. I wish I did not take her for life span. She is a very tough grader, gives a lot of assignments, and some of the test questions she did not cover them in class. She offers test review but it does not help much in my opinion.
Mary Buck gives a lot of assignments even for the final exam there is an essay as part of the final exam grade. If you ask her some questions for the test she does not like to answer them and tell you to look in the text book. Is this a good professor?. I hate her teaching style. She goes back and forth and does not follow the outline. I don't rec
She is a tough grader. She gives a lot of assignments and requires a lot for a class that is not so important like a science class. I did not like her teaching style at all. Horrible. I regret million times has taken her for life span. I would not take her again!!!!!
Difficult test. Several issues with the on-line content so there several times you had to do extra assignments. She stated the best way to reach her was via email and she responds to emails within 48 hrs. That's a joke! She said grades would be posted within 7 days. It took her months to grade discussion board assignments. I wouldn't take her.
I took professor Buck in the spring semester and it was the worse experience I have ever had at TCC in almost 3 years. I regret taking her. She doesn't respond emails, if you ask questions she avoids you telling "look it up in the Text book". Her tests questions go beyond her lectures. I personally didn't like her. She is a tough grader too.
I took Mary B in the SP semester & I wish I had never had her for life SP. Comments abt her being easy & a good prof are just a lie. She goes back and forth not following the outlines. Her test reviews are unhelpful. It was my last long sem at tcc with chem for science major and history, having 53 credit h and 4.0 and It was first B I 'v ever got.
I love professor Buck. If you takes good notes (she lets you record lecture) and study, you will do fine. She is very sweet and is willing to help. She is a little bit of a tough grader, but she tests always have bonus questions worth ten points AND hee drops the lowest test grade. Her lectures were the best!
I enjoyed being in her class because she has very informative lectures. She posts notes and review outlines. Her tests come directly from her lectures; make sure to take good notes and pay attention to the examples she gives, usually bonus points on the tests. She does tend to be a tough grader, but I believe that to be part of just being fair.
I took M Buck in the fall and it was such as big mistake. Tests cover inform she doesn't go over in class! She doesn't respond emails and takes forever to post grades. She assigned a learning service project that consisted of doing volunteer hours and write about it. She took points off on my paper for every single thing, lowering my grade to a B.
Like Span is an easy class that any person could get an A on. Buck makes it more difficult than what it is. She assigns a big project that consists of finding a place to volunteer & write about. She is tough, doesn't respond emails and takes long to post grades. Tests are tough b/ she puts questions she doesn't cover in class. I wouldn't recommend!
I loved her! Took her Spring 2016. It's honestly easy if you just take notes and read the book. She has one project but it's not hard. She posts notes online and offers bonus questions on the tests. Not too many assignments but she does group work. I loved Life Span! I would take her again!!! The poor ratings are totally wrong!
Mrs Buck really cares about what she teaches. She gives reviews with everything that will be on the exams, and all you need are her lecture notes. The big project others are complaining about can be service, creative, or a presentation so there are options, it's not hard. The group projects are small and done in class only, easy As.
Favorite teacher I've had at TCC so far! She makes the lectures easy to understand and posts them all online to make sure we're prepared. The tests are hard if you don't read the text book but not impossible to pass you just won't be getting an A (I barely got a B). She also allows laptops but only in the first two rows so get there early!
Good overall teacher. Doesn't assign a lot of homework and has tests over 2 or 3 sections at a time. I didn't buy the book or use it once and passed with a B+. She's very kind and will listen to questions.
She is the best! Make sure to go through the chapters while studying for the test cause a few questions are not just from her notes!
Professor Buck is AMAZING! her tests are multiple choice and are for the most part easy if you do the review. There is always extra credit on all the exams. She gives amazing lectures and there is no homework. She is the sweetest person you will ever meet. I would love to take her class again.
Ight so the thing is she is a great professor she has her limit and if i were you don't try getting her mad other than that she is really nice and will help any student that needs help so yea...
Mary Buck changes reviews an HOURS before the actual exam, and it was completely dreadful! She expresses how she has done many studies, yet she is biased when it comes to subjects when she should be an unbiased instructor. She demeans bottle feeding mothers, when she was one herself, and promotes only breastfeeding. Her power points are vague too.
Buck is great and understanding. She is a little biased in her views and pretty much says, from the beginning, you might hate her. Not a class for multiple jobs. She has you do a group project right out of the gate and then have a presentation a little after that. Her tests are theory, not easy. First test was changed hours before we took it, fail
She is a very nice and sweet lady and her teaching method is great though. However, I don't really like the way she tests. You HAVE TO buy the book or you won't get a good grade on the test. I couldn't find some of her questions on the study guides in the book. Her powerpoint slides was kinda too simple so you will need the book to get a good grade
I like the professor. She is very friendly and very active .I like her teaching style .she give us extra credit .
Favorite class Ive taken so far.
I loved Prof. Buck's class. She is very sweet, humorous, and highly intelligent. You must show up to class because she is very lecture heavy. I was never bored in her class. It's not a difficult course if you're there everyday, pay attention, and take good notes. She requires a textbook; it helps with the reviews. I would def. take her again!
amazing lectures, good power points, power points are the notes
Lecture easy to understand, DON'T buy the book everything is in her slides, if not then you can find it online or email her about it. Only had one group project presentation and was super easy. Study for her exams though because she loves to test theories. Extra credit opportunities all the time just ask!!! One of the best psych classes.
This was a really awesome class. She does a really great job keeping it interesting and gives really thurough reviews for all exams. If you go to class, take notes and study the reviews you will pass. Also exams have bonus questions (yay!)
This class was not too hard but it is only graded based on a few things. Make sure to pay attention and take notes over the lectures and go over them before the tests.
Gives a lot of assignments so that your test don't determine your whole grade. Interesting class. Very sweet lady. Only thing is the test is nothing like the reviews and can't find the info in the text book. take very very detailed notes if you want to pass the test.
Wow. I wish Ms. Buck taught all of my classes. She should be the model for what all instructors should be like - there is a lot of coursework but it's graded fairly. Her lectures are interesting and she posts the outlines online which is so convenient.
She is very lecture heavy but the notes and information you need to do well go hand to hand. Easy A if you actually put in the bare minimum effort, attendance is important just cause of the notes she gives is what you need for exams. Every assignment is groupwork and like easy 10 questions.
Prof Buck is very kind and is always willing to help. Class is mainly lectures, tests, and one major project. There will be easy in-class assignments that are just a participation grade. A few topics on the tests won't be discussed in class but you'll get a heads up because she gives you a review sheet. Very interesting class!
Love her, she is such a gem. The topic is interesting & she teaches great. Only thing I disliked was the literature work since it took away from the topics in class & there is a group presentation! She adjusted kindly to online class after COVID-19 and was always so clear on how she is grading and genuinely cares about the success of her students!
She's a professor who doesn't read from a script or PowerPoint the entire time. She tells stories and anecdotes and goes on relevant tangents about topics that she is genuinely passionate about. She encourages people to ask questions during class and helps anyone if you ask. Her course is easy if you show up and she's overall a passionate person.
Google the book & there's a PDF to download it for free. Everything's on Quizlet. Looked forward to her lectures, they were super interesting. Provides a study guide for tests, make sure u can answer the q's on there and you'll pass. Really lenient, but don't take advantage of her, she's too nice. Would recommend online as well. Miss her already!
Her lectures were great when classes were in-person, I Learned a lot more than I expected. She just used online textbook activities after classes went online, which were pretty tedious and didnt teach me very much. Shes very sweet and funny. The final assignment was to create a death plan, which was really unpleasant to do during finals.
Currently taking online course during the quarantine, The amount of assignments are ridiculous, this class is not friendly for students who have work, all teaching is through online software, will not take this class again, Im very disappointed And very stressed from the online class. The teacher is nice I just have problem with too much homework
I currently have Professor Buck for online psychology and I personally feel like this class is the one I learn most in. I think she gives the perfect amount of work for online that is totally manageable, and she is very nice any time I email her about anything. The tests aren't too difficult if you pay attention while reading and TAKE NOTES!
If you have a job or life whatsoever please don't take this class!! I have never seen so much homework and so many tests in a class at TCC before. Theres a test every week as well as a quiz and about 30 discussions boards. Theres also a paper and some other things. I had to drop the class. Absolutely ridiculous.
I started during COVID with the class online. There is a lot of reading, but the textbook isn't a difficult read, though it can be very liberal in places. The discussion board is my least favorite part. There is a weekly test, but it's open notes, so TAKE GOOD NOTES and you'll be good to go. She's pretty nice, I don't mind the work.
Lots of really easy homework, but you have to read the whole textbook. It's all really easy and you can do everything twice including the tests.
Lots of work entailed. Reading the Chapter, quiz, 2-3 assignments weekly. however, she is a wonderful professor and if you even attempt in her class, an A. Easy. Ive taken her for both introduction to psch and life span and I couldnt imagine taking anyone else. She really is great. And the few times I did email her - so helpful and nice.
I absolutely ADORE Professor Buck! I had her for both Intro to Psych and Life Span. She has a funny and down-to-earth approach to teaching, but also is professional and knows her stuff! She required the textbook, but I honestly did not use it during the semester. There is a good amount of homework, but nothing too difficult! 10/10 would recommend!
Professor Buck is a wonderful teacher and funny to boot! There is plenty of EC opportunities and if you fill out the review you will pass the test. I would absolutely take her again! There is lots of reading, but the lectures are great and cover most of what you need to know.
A lot of reading, i took this course during the summer and it was definitely fast paced but it was also easy and a breeze i liked the professor she was very easy with grading and very web savvy
She truly inspires my love of psychology and is incredibly passionate about what she is teaching. I intend on taking her other courses even if they do not count towards my credit. She is a brilliant woman who wants you to succeed and is very pleasant to speak with. She is my favorite teacher at TCC and I always look forward to her lectures.
she explains everything good, provides extra credit
The professor was fairly slow in grading assignments, and I was not crazy about the automatic grading on some of the short answer questions on tests. If you have to type an answer to a test question it should be reviewed and graded by a human, not a computer. I also had a hard time reaching the professor via email.
She's a very sweet professor. Not many assignments, so most if your grade comes from exams. Definitely show up to lectures, do the assignments and study for the exams. If you do that, this class is easy to pass.
This class is easy to pass as long as you attend lectures, take notes, and study her reviews for exams. Lowest grade out of the first three exams gets dropped and the final isn't cumulative. I recommend going to the SI sessions, they're extremely helpful for retaining information and you get extra credit in the class for attending enough of them.
If you have a traditional world view: the professor exemplifies the stereotypical university slant--extremely, unnecessarily and confusingly so. Be patient, able to separate testable information from commentary, limit participation in discussions. Don't take it personally. Professor's nice and interested in her students. Get your units and move on.
This professor is very kind, helpful, and explains everything clearly. The lectures are interesting and easy to understand. He gives fair grades and responds quickly to questions. The class was not too hard, and I learned a lot. I would highly recommend this professor to other students.
Came here to give a fair warning to those who are considering taking this class online. Buck does care for her students, but communication was slow and not thorough. The content breakdown in the calendar did not line up with that on the exam. Not to mention, the exams are extremely specific. It's doable, but maybe less cohesive than in person.
Mrs.Buck is an amazing professor who gives in depth lectures that thoroughly prepare her students for her exams. The exams she provides are very similar to the reviews she gives through canvas. She also encourages participation in class and displays different extra credit opportunities. I am going to miss her class, and I encourage you to take it.
I would take all of her classes if I could; she is by far the best professor I've ever had. I'm typically a C's get degrees person, but I got an A with very minimal effort solely because I genuinely enjoyed her class and how well she teaches and keeps you engaged in class. If you can, TAKE HER CLASS. I'm gonna miss her next semester.
TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU CAN. She is the best professor, offers plenty of participation assignments to boost your grade, and even drops your lowest exam score.
