I never liked English until now. Professor Childers told us on the first day she cared and it is our last week and she is still saying she cares. I wish she taught more classes here so I could take her again. I feel like for the first time I have a teacher cheering me on. She rules.

The most caring and nice professor ever, do your homework and participate in class and you should be fine. Goes in depth of the material and takes her time to explain to anyone who has questions. I loved her class!

Professor Childers is a literal angel! She's so caring and really does care for each of her students and genuinely wants them to do well in her class. I loved the class discussions and her amazing feedback on papers, it was truly helpful. Her assignments were really straight forward and the essay topics were fun to write.

so currently in class we are writing a personal narrative with research worked into the story and a lot of us were struggling with how to do this... not only did professor childers bring in different essays by a lot of different writers for us to read, but she wrote one based on her own experiences and shared it with us today honestly she is a GEM

Somehow every class, Professor Childers manages to teach us lessons about English, but also about life. She shares so much with us and listens when we talk back to her. I've never had a teacher listen the way she does. She just looks at us and it feels like we're sharing the most special story. I just adore this teacher.

Professor Childers is the best teacher I've ever had and one of the best people ever. I would take ANY class if she was teaching it. She cares so much and remembers everything you share with her. I don't know how she does it sometimes. She has made a hard semester feel better. Do yourself a favor and TAKE HER CLASS. It won't disappoint you.

Though our class was moved online due to COVID, Prof. C has made it a wonderful experience. She is so caring. I have never had a teacher like her and I think anyone would be better off after having her. Prof. C always takes the time to check-in with us and works just as hard as we do. I wish I could take her next semester, but am happy I got to.

This has been my favorite class ever. She is so kind and so funny without even realizing it. She sits on the table in front of us and talks about authors she wants to introduce us to because she says they changed her life. Well she changed mine. I hope she knows that. Seriously the best teacher.

we had to switch from meeting three times a week to going completely online with cover happening. it was hard making the switch and dealing with so much. to be honest I started to fall behind but professor childers never gave up on me. she emailed me to check in and encouraged me to keep going so I did. she is the best teacher I have ever had.

I almost didn't take this class because I never felt confident in English classes before. The first day she walked in and I just knew it would be a better class. She is so nice. She actually cares about us and what she talks about. I think that I want to switch majors now so I can write more and I owe it to her. I miss this class already.

you know the teacher is really good when you're kinda bummed you didn't fail so you'd have to take the same class with them again. she is the best teacher ever. she works music videos into lesson plans, we read essays about real stuff that happens in the world, she isn't afraid of looking like she doesn't know everything, and she is just so nice

I am better because of prof Childers. I am a better writer and a better person. Her spirit is so beautiful that you find yourself wanting to impress her and yourself. I will miss a college class which is a new feeling for me.

I had Professor Childers for English Spring 2020 , and I can not express how much I loved her class. She is truly an amazing teacher. She gives her students her time and will do anything in her power to see them succeed. I highly recommend taking her class if you have the chance to do so. You will not be disappointed.

going into college with covid I was hesitant, but professor childers has made me feel so much better. she gives us awesome work that is exciting and new. she also cares a lot about you and if she notices you're not turning in work, she reaches out. this semester is still tough with everything going on, but she makes it feel better.

I love this class with Professor Childers. She helps us focus more on writing instead of grades, which has helped me really spend time developing my own writing style. She takes her time leaving us lots of comments on our work and is always ready to discuss anything with us. I wish she taught 1102.

Professor Childers is sweet. The only things that get graded are essays which have its pros and cons. It's like if you got a C on your essay then that would end up being your grade. All of the other work you do in class does not show in the grade section. You still have to do the discussion board two each week.

Professor Childers leaves very detailed comments on everything and is always explaining her grading process to us which really helps me feel up to date! We have discussion boards, brainstorming assignments, papers, conferences, and other assignments that all help with the final projects. I really love this class and her teaching style. TAKE HER!

You won't find another teacher who cares so much and is so willing to sit down just to hear how you're doing. She asks how we're doing literally every single day and actually wants to hear our responses. I don't think I could've gotten through my first semester of college without her constant support. She works really hard for her students.

I wish I could take her again. She is the coolest teacher ever. She has so many stories that she brings up when we read essays that make you feel like someone gets what you're going through. I came to her upset because I felt like I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and college and she sat on a zoom call with me for over an hour just listening. I recently changed majors and she was so supportive. It helps having a teacher who is so open about how difficult things can be sometimes and one that shows you how you can do it.

She is so much fun because she teaches English but somehow relates it to Taylor Swift... by the end of the semester I had learned so much and didn't even realize it. Also she is funny and not afraid to laugh at herself. I loved this class. You get a lot of extra time to work and she is always ready to discuss ANYTHING.

Mary Childers is a very good professor. I really enjoyed being in her class as she truly cared about our learning. Throughout the semester you complete discussion boards, three essays, and a final exam. The essays are on fun topics so I'm sure you'll enjoy doing them. Overall, you should take Professor Childers because she's a great teacher.

Literally one of the most beautiful human beings ever, take her class. Even if it's at 8 am, I did and am so grateful. Not only did my writing improve so much but she was just really awesome and it was fun and I feel I grew as a person. Only a few essays, she spends a while on each one so it's low stress and you can make it perfect. Take the class.

So I had Prof. Childers this past sem online. Overall, engl 1101 consisted of 3 easy papers and some discussion boards. You need to do the discussion boards and readings to know what is going on. For us, we only met once a week, not twice. She good overall except that she takes a whole month to grade papers and you don't wanna get on her bad side

Prof. C is one of a kind!!! She is very upfront about timelines throughout the semester and she leaves lots of comments on your work so you can know what to do next time. I would leave every session feeling lighter. Being online was hard especially with covid, but she was an angel. My only complaint is that we didn't get to meet her in person.

I had Professor C for ALP and am so glad I did. It was paired with my 1101 also taught be her and wow it made all the difference having extra time to work. She also finds the best readings. If English isnt your best, this class rocks.

If you can TAKE THIS TEACHER AND CLASS. She cares SO MUCH! She takes some time to grade, but I always have a lot of feedback and she is always ready to meet with you if you need to. I am so GLAD I HAD HER!

Her prompts are a bit challenging and there are a lot of small assignments, but she's very caring and willing to help. Taking this class with her really helped me improve my writing.

I took her and I was saddened to know that I won't be able to take another semester with her. She is really caring and inspirational and has a clear grading criteria. She always makes a point to get to know you and lets everyone know she is there for you. Her assignments are challenging but you'll challenge yourself to do better.

You cannot say Professor Childers does not care. She makes a point to let all of her students know that she is available if they ever need anything and is always more than open to a conversation. She is a tougher grader than most but it makes you that much better of a writer. There are a bit of small assignments and she values participation.

I'm writing this as a first year student at COD, but honestly one of the most fun professors I've had so far. She really cares about all of her students and will take the time to help you or talk to you if you need it. My class meets 3 times a week, but so far she has canceled class a lot more often than my other teachers, but she is a lot of fun.

Prof. C had an emergency surgery and we missed class while she was sick, but she was still emailing us and checking in on US. She is an ANGEL!

There aren't enough words to describe her. But I will use a few to describe her. She is kind, funny, caring, patient, and she will never give up on you. I wish I could take her for every other subject, even though she hates math and tells us all the time she cannot handle numbers. You'll love every second you spend with her. I can promise you that.

we only have one class left and I miss her already. her 1102 classes in the spring filled up literally day one of registration, so if you need 1101, take a spot while they are open. she is one of a kind. she is constantly telling us how special we are and when we tell her the same about her, she rolls her eyes. but truth is, she is. a hidden gem.

I want to be her when I grow up. She is SO amazing. She always tells us about the teachers that influenced her and she says how she hopes to be like them, but to so many of us she is that teacher. I don't know any other teacher who teaches an entire hour and then has a line of students asking for a hug or quick life chat after class BUT her.

I loved her 1101 class so much I took her for 1102 just because I wasn't ready to leave her yet! She asks her class "how are you?" everyday because she genuinely wants to know. She will do everything she can to help you and works so hard. She is so funny, incredibly kind, and gives great hugs whenever you need one. She really is THE BEST.

I don't even think it is possible for her to be mean. She is the nicest person I've ever met literally. Yes... participation matters, but that's college. I loved her.

Had her for Fall 2023. I've never had such a strong connection to a teacher before taking her class. I had her for English 1101, and I immediately missed her when I wasn't in her class for 1102. She's always available to assist her students outside of class and gives each one her undivided attention when needed. Would 1000% take again!

she made english so enjoyable and even though i'm biased, i would take this class 100x again. you have 3 big papers, a personal narrative, a profile and a research essay. all that are thoroughly explained, with a bunch of resources that she provides. as long as you stay on top of your assignments and participate, you'll do well.

Professor Childers is easily the most caring professor I have ever had. She goes above and beyond to create resources for her students and truly wants them to be great writers. Some of her assignments are time consuming, but as long as you turn everything in on time you will get an A. Her essays have clear rubrics to ensure your success.

This class was definitely my favorite one and was really straightforward. For all essays we had to do, we got clear rubrics and she would take the time to help us with all the resources we need.
