Professor Copeland takes a long time to grade and return assignments. I would have to wait for papers and work I turned in weeks ago, and her quizzes are challenging - they have a huge amount of multiple choice, but if you do poorly on the essay questions and pass all of the multiple choice, you'll still fail. The plus side is lots of extra credit

Took her my fall semester and she was one of the worst teachers I've had in LAHC. She does not return work quickly and grades very hard for what is only a film class. Not a hard class, but not very fun.

Horrible teacher. For a Film class, she grades really hard on the essay questions for her quizzes. I answered her questions specific to detail the way she wanted and all her comments were saying "it is unfocused and irrelevant". For the glossary part she grades harshly for putting definitions into your own words. I recommend not to take the class.

Assigns lots of work that is completely unrelated to the films we watch, grades in a biased manner, and expects students to understand unrealistic and unrelated ideas. She obviously doesn't even pay attention to the films we watch; grades by her own feelings. DO NOT TAKE SHE IS A TERRIBLE TEACHER!!!

It's a film class but just keep in mind If your enrolled don't waste your time, she's nice on the first homework assignment after that don't expect the professor to give you any leniency her grading is rude and if your off-topic she will critic you with irrelevant, repetitive, and not focused and then your grade for that assignment drops harshly.

Prof. Copeland is a stickler for small details. Be sure to do your close reading. However, she gets some details incorrect, yet insists she's correct. She assigns a good deal of work, then does not grade in a timely manner. She has to be the smartest person in the room at all times. Her arbitrary grading attests to this.

She must be the smartest one in the room, in order to get by. Little does she know she has been incorrect a few times, especially with cultural derived topics and that is the tea sis.

If you wanna take a fun film class, Copeland isn't the teacher for you. Although she gives a generous amount of EC, she nit picks every detail you provide in your homework/tests so if you don't do well, it falls heavy on your grade. When I asked for help or even just questions in general, she always found a way to be rude. It's a no from me sis.

I have had plenty of inspiring and kind professors in my 19 years of living. Professor Mary Copeland was not one of them. She is sassy, but offers a lot of extra credit. I only passed because of the extra credit. If there was no extra credit, I will be depressed, more than I already am. Avoid this professor, she gives you acne and wrinkles.

She is such a slow grader. You wont know where you stand the whole semester because of this. She listens to opinions but also steam rolls over yours if she doesnt agree. If you need clarity on something she responds with such condescending/rude comments. It seems like such a small detail but trust me her attitude makes the class less enjoyable.

Wanted to challenge myself as a writer, and did the complete opposite. She grades papers in no logical way, and has hurt myself as a student writer and fan of film. Between two papers significantly differing in effort and use of procrastination, I scored higher and received no reasoning as to why. Avoid her online if possible AVOID

Don't take her class unless there is no any other alternatives. Got an average of 8/10 on weekly quizzes, 20/20 on discussion board assignments. Though grader when it comes to papers (Cs only). Thus ended up with a C+(78.5), and yes opportunity to make it to a B but seemed unwilling. The best advise is to stay away from taking any of her classes!!!

Barely halfway through the semester and I dread the work from this class. Discussion posts about answering questions how to write a film review with lots of steps and offers for extra credit to do in the discussion boards. I took English 103 with professor Mary last year and I can say that she is a really tough grader! I was very confident with my writing until I took her online class. I became afraid of my writing. Hardly ever graded an assignment through the entire semester. 95% of all grades were graded after we submitted our final paper. The essay diagnostic we had to write in the 1st week was never really graded. We never received feedback and it went from being worth to 25 points to 0. You have to buy 2 books and I passed without going to lectures.

This professor was probably the worst I have ever taken. She teaches like she is a Harvard professor and expects you to be the best student ever because you're in the "honors program." Exams are a joke so don't expect to do well on them. The only good thing about her is that she offers A TON of extra credit. You can fail exams and still get an A.

Funny Essay and exam questions are not too difficult, but grading was a challenge because everything is tailored to how she wants it. Found this professor to be scattered in many ways, especially in class lecture delivery, and in their method of student communication. Attendance is mandatory, and ANY late submissions will def result in a lower grade. Class participation is expected, however dissenting opinions will not work in your favor.
