I only had her for a few lecture periods when my regular teacher was absent, but I couldnt stand her. She talked to us like she assumed that we knew and had background in everything she was talking about, which we didn't. Dont take her, save your sanity

Don't take her man. You will regret, seriously. What the person said on 10/10 is exactly true. She expects you to know everything. If you knew everything, why would you be in her class? I only had her for two days (sub), and I was scared of her.

She's by far the worst Chem teacher i've ever saw! she can't do anything! GRRRRR

so picky on the labs. u may get total 100 points off from the lab section. the tests were okie, but too much questions which ppl couldnt not finish it up.

She is the type of teacher that likes to make simple things hard.. simplest way to go from point A to point B is a straigt line.. she goes in a swirl. The class average for her exams was maybe a 50%... an F. U dont believe me? you take her then...

I wish i never took her class. it was utterly dreadful. You have no idea how many times i had curse privatly in my head at her class.

Has the attitude that who cares if you don't do well in my class. Very nice lady buy her teaching skills are less then desirable. I highly recommend taking another teacher. Unfortunally there is not a lot of others to choose from

This lady is very confussing. You ask her something and she gives u something totally different from your question.

Cox is the absolute WORST!! You will hate every minute of her class. She is very rude, if you ask her a question, ANY question, she makes you feel stupid and will even laugh at you. She assigns hmwrk before covering the topic, she is confusing and unclear. She is the most useless in lab, no help at all. I learned nothing.

Can't teach. Answers students questions in a condescending manner, spends ENTIRE lecture time answering hw questions. Reads newspaper and does crossword puzzles during Lab. Oblivious to the fact that her incompetent caliber as a professor caused >50% the class to drop, NOT their lack of studying. Average scores for Exam 1 = 37%, Exam 2 = 59%. WORST

One horrible teacher, avoid if you can. No lectures slides, no writing on the board, talks through example and expects you to understand. Our lad teacher Tong saved our section from failing.

Before siging up to this class in which Chemistry is part of my major, I know Mrs. Cox would be a really bad instructor. And she is bad indeed. It seems to me that she does not know how to help students to succeed, she jumps around and move in a swirl and zigzag, and really confusing!!! She is no help at all, you get help from a tutor or the book!!

She should write her own chemistry book if she keeps saying she's rite and the book is wrong. needs to know how to give adequate time for tests.

She is the reason that I cannot transfer on time. She does not grade fairly. She will downgrade you because she thinks you (the student) confuses her. Has a didactic teaching style, lazy as hell. She will ruin your grade, she will cancel your transfer admissions, she WILL DESTROY any hope of you succeeding or enjoying Chemistry. DON'T TAKE HER.

DOES NOT LECTURE!!! She talks about random things that she does in her life like hot air ballooning and buying a little boy a book. Random and irrelevant! I was in her class for chem, not an autobiography of herself! The only chem related thing she does is go over hw, and even then she doesn't go over the whole problem. Stay away from her.

I really enjoyed chem but after I took her for 1b, my interest in chem went down hilll! She dosen't lecture, she gose over hw problems, but dosen't finish it!! shes horrible! how dose she expect us to know how to do hw prob when she dosen't even teach! the whole class stood up to her. and she got mad and called us stupid!! wth?

She does not teach. If you have her for lab as well as lecture, kiss your GPA goodbye. Gives absolutely no instruction or guidance on any assignments and grades based on standards which she never makes clear. Do not walk, RUN away from this prof!

Expects you to have prior knowledge of subject before learning it from her! Tests are ridiculously hard, almost impossible to follow lecture. Even people that had chem before couldn't understand her! Very frustrating. Does not grade homework, asking questions next day is useless. Lab is the same way. Worst teacher I have ever had hands down!

I took her 1A class a few quarters ago and she put my whole chem series in hell! She doesn't teach, as others said. It's something to recommed to someone you truely hate. So plz plz plz avoid her if possible. if not possible, still avoid her. You'll be thrown in a hell. like me.

She is the worst teacher and least helpful person you could ever find on the campus! if you like chemistry I would seriously recommend you to avoid her, because if you take her class you would need to change your major! average of her class gets 50% on the tests, which is horrible, she does not teach! ... don't destroy your GPA!

OMG!! do not take...no matter what...even if she is the last chem teacher on earth!! sooo picky on labs. I got a .75 out of 2 just because i forgot the date. Save yourself and your dignity...completely and utterly horrible...no joke

asking for an F. Green sheet says 8 quizzes total...actually 20 quizzes~ You will HAVE to learn the material on your own. she does not HELP a lot. She goes over the homework, but you turn in your homework at the beginning of class so you can't compare.

She does not give any partial credit on exams. You can have a correct equation and get no points for putting a lower case t instead of an upper case T. Her lectures do not clarify anything!. Expect at least 20-25 pop quizzes, many on material you have not covered yet in class or on HW. She does not seem to care if people are learning or not.

Terrible professor, cant even call her a teacher because she does not teach. Like everyone has said avg on tests are in the 50%s, and weird pop quizzes. The class is absolutely impossible if she does the lecture and lab. How is a teacher still at de anza when at the end of the quarter more than half the class has dropped? Gratz on wasting our time

PLEASE do NOT take her! last quarter no body got an A in her class, I am an above average student but I filed her class. She does NOT teach, is NOT helpful and definitely is NOT easy, for final review she was merely reading some questions from the back of the book and not answering them! how the heck does that help!

MUST AVOID! Do not trust.Exams quizes and lab reports are worth less than a turnip. She will lie to you about your grade, hold onto every paper you get back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More often than not she will TRY to lecture, but will confuse not only you but herself every TIME!!! Dont expect anything more than a C no matter how hard you work!

I have Never been so disenchanted with a Instructor before, if you can call her that. Don't fall for that sweet granny line, she cannot teach and more importantly will not prepare you for 1C or O-chem, so if your ok with have gaps in ur education take her otherwise drop. No matter what she says, or how hard you study, be prepared for a C.

Chem 10 exam average was 64/100. She doesn't follow the textbook, lab manual and prefer to lecture her own ways. Many students appear to be lost because of the poor presentations and instructions. If you read the textbook,lab manual,and do the homeworks, you still have to pay close attention to her lectures, because she gives the questions off them

Mary Cox is by far the worse teacher I've ever had. TERRIBLE! DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES, over half the class has already dropped, but I need this class. Class with her is pretty much what hell would be like. She's going senile, she's rude, has anger issues and gets off on making her students feel inferior. She definitely shouldn't be teaching.

She has messed up so many students with her half ass teaching, wrong answers, fictitious grading curves- I could go on forever...Whats worse is that the Dean knows all these issues and does nothing...Don't expect reading the textbook, hiring an additional tutor or even going to the admissions for help....De Anza turns a blind eye!!!

additional advice if you really are thinking oh she cannot be that bad, GO SIT IN ON ONE OF HER SECTIONS AND TALK TO THE STUDENTS IN HER CLASS, THAT WILL tell you how bad it is or just listen to her lecture, if you can even call it that, she cannot even teach you lab techniques, she is a sorry excuse of a professor who should of been kicked out

Absolute worst teacher I have ever come across during my time at De Anza. Worst lectures, doesn't help during lab, expects you to teach the course instead of her doing a job. I was a solid A/B student. This is my first F I have ever received and it sunk my GPA like a brick. If you get switched into her class drop immediately!!

I had her and ended up graduating from UCLA in 2012. Hands down the worst teacher I have ever had in my whole life. I am writing this now 6 years later because I STILL hold her accountable for ruining my chemistry experience at de anza. Even though I got a B+, I honestly hope she is fired because NO one like her should be allowed to teach.
