Professor Darling teaches writing in fun yet challenging way. Her lessons are well thought out and plenty informative. Awesome English 1301 teacher!

I did not find her awesome. She seemed very unclear and unsure. I thought she was new, we were given three syllabus before spring break.

I really learned more about how to write! She cares about students and loves to teach others how to write better. The schedule was tweeked, but the syllabus did not change.Definately the best!

Not an easy class, taking 4 classes and with the work load she gives it's not an easy task to do all the homework for my classes. She does care for all her students and tries to help. overall good teacher just a lot of homework.

I loved this class. The activities helped me learn a lot about writing. Take this class if you get the chance. If you do the work, you make the connections and pass. Only the people who sat there and didnt do anything seemed to struggle. I went to her office hours, and she really seemed to care.

She is a good teacher. She finds interactive ways to give all students equal chances to learn the material. She accommodates all learning styles. She expects students to do their best and gives them visions of their own success.

Instructor Darling is AMAZING!! She helped me so much in my writing. Her assignments were fun. She really wants to help and make you a better writer. Took her class Spring 2013. She is such a great professor and person with an awesome personality. Her passion for teaching shows in a big way. Darling's teaching style and class was fun and easy to understand. Everyone was included in participating. I was sad I could not take her for the rest of my English classes. I highly recommend her.

I thought this class was hard, but it helped me in my other classes. She met with me after class time...several times... and was helpful in giving me areas to work on to get better. Teacher don't seem to care as much as she does, and I liked her for that.

I have never enjoyed English classes even a little bit, but she makes it enjoyable. I highly recommend taking her classes. She actually tends to make it interesting which makes it easier to remember everything. She's actually a bit more laid back than most instructors without being too much.

When she explained how to write it was clear and I understood it. -Not too much homework, but be prepared to write papers ahead of time.

I didn't really care for her teaching style, she was a very nice lady and down to earth. She wasn't a bad teacher, i just felt like she tried to hard to get us involved even though this class was mandatory and none of us wanted to be there. A lot of group work and "inspirational" projects which I'm not really into.

The class is hard don't get me wrong, but she helps you conquer things you never thought you could do. I have never come out of a class with more confidence in my abilities.

She's awesome. I learned so so so much. I went into the class thinking it was going to be similar to my high school English class, and I was wrong. She definitely made me feel great about my abilities to analyze literature and write. Great teacher, you'd be dumb not to take her!

Was friendly at the beginning of the year then got rough near the end. Grades really hard for the most part, and removes a lot of points for simple errors. Every absence is unexcused no matter what, and they count for a lot of points. More than 4 absences has a chance that you will fail the course. Do not take if you are not into group activities..

Wow! I learned so much about grammar and how to structure my papers. Sure, there are lots of group activities, but it's college so I didnt mind having to work with others. If you want to learn take this class. If you just want comp out of the way take a dif class.

She has great lectures and was clear about how the essays are graded. Has clear expectations for the work. You get the grade sheet before the paper is due. Pretty easy going and flexible. I liked ms darlings class. It was easy to finish because she was clear about what you had to do. Much more interesting than I expected and easy to follow.

The class was pretty neat. She works with students and seems to really like teaching. All the assignments worked together in the end, and I like how she gave examples for sentence types. I'd take it again. Easy if you show and at least half try. Wish she was teaching 1301 this fall.

She is a down to earth person and has a passion to teach. not many essays. and is always there to help. Her class is very interesting and approaches lectures from different angles.

I learned a lot about writing. I always liked going to her class because she made it interesting.

I was not every confident with my essay writing skills coming into her class. I got a descent grade on my first essay, but after that first essay I followed her rubric and my essays became easier with my extra effort I got the grade I was hoping for. Expect an essay every month, and another essay as your final.

She is easy to talk to and welcomes questions. I took this class because I was placed here, but I'm glad I did. The things we covered were helpful.

I mostly like how she connected the stuff from class to life and how she helped if I needed it.

I was scared to take 1301 again. The first time I took it I dropped because I got behind. For ms. Darling's class, I always knew where we were at and didn't get so confused. I understood what she expected, which was way better than the first instructor I took. Glad I took this. It's worth the time and work.

I took her in summer 1 and honestly I think she is the best English teacher I have ever had. She makes sure you understand your mistakes and gives great feedback! I actually learned a lot in this class and I would certainly take her again. Just do all your work well and you'll do well. She's a bit tough on grading essays though.

Awesome teacher. Will work with you if you don't understand and willing to help in any way. Natural born teacher. Participation and group discussions are very important. Not difficult if you attend.

Professor Darling was amazing when I had her for 1301. I was really anal the whole semester about getting good grades, so I was constantly asking her to check my essays, and she always gave great feedback. She really helped guide me through any work I was having problems with.

Professor is friendly and if you pay attention and attend classes you will pass. It is not a difficult class as long as you do the homework and pay attention.

I could not have asked for a better professor. Easy grader on the essays, offers life lessons throughout the course, very friendly. I was always horrible at writing essays, but Prof. Darling has definitely helped me improve. Make sure you're putting effort into LaunchPad, easy grade though.

Professor Darling was one of the kindest professors I have ever had. Her feedback was great especially since I am not a good English-subject learner. The course did use textbooks, quizzes, and discussions, but the curriculum was very straightforward and easy to understand. Essay writing was not a problem and I enjoyed participating in this class.

If you want a teacher that actually cares about how you do, Professor Darling is amazing. She makes sure you are on track and successful, her class isn't hard at all obviously just do the work. I took this class already and had to take it again, i wish i would've had her as my teacher the first time.

Cares a lot about her student's education and is very friendly. She grades thoroughly, so getting an A on a paper is not something she does unless your paper has hardly any errors. Be sure to not miss an assignment.

This was a good class the grading is clear and she works with you. I wish more instructors did too. I would recommend her class to a friend. Good at communicating online.

Incredible professor who truly wants you to succeed. If you ask questions she is patient and will answer them thoroughly and with care! Incredibly kind and understand but definitely not a push over. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

She's caring, but you don't get very much instruction being online. Takes long time to grade, but I understand she's got a lot of papers. 4 essays + essay final exam, discussion boards, short textbook quizzes, and inquisitive for grammar. Easy class as long as you don't find essays daunting.

Loved the class even though it was online. She spent lots of time talking to me and helping me understand the work. Online was good. It was set up the same each week and that helped lots. Liked that she read online discussions and commented to me many times. Def would take again. Def recommend.

Lots of papers and other assignments but there was plenty of time to complete them and for some of the big ones she had them revised step by step. Inquizitive helped a lot with grammar too. 10 out of 10 would recommend this professor.

Everything was easy to follow and made sense.

I would recommend, however she left in the middle of the school year and we had to get another professor. Besides that it was usually 2 inquizitives + 2-3 short online quizzes on assigned readings weekly, and a paper every 3-4 weeks. Very likeable professor. Made a lot very easy to understand until they left for personal issues :(

I don't mind the InQuizitive activities, reading quizzes, and 4 essay papers, but I hated the discussion posts. I believe they were unnecessary and not helpful at all. Also, discussion posts account for your attendance.

Discussion post matter for this online only class and that makes sense. I liked the post led to the papers and seeing what other students said. Easy to reach. Responds quickly. Challenging in a good way.

Es a special class. Do take this class if you want to learn. Growth is optional. You get out of it what you put in. High recommendation. She helped me understand poetry better and symbols in readings.

Very invested in her students. Progressive topics. Tough grader. A mix of essays, discussion posts, in-class quizzes, and alot of online grammar busy work. Quickly responds to email questions. There are no excused absences, so any absence WILL affect your grade.

she draggs on, if your taking her in person. be prepared to be bored for more than an hour. the stuff in the class isn't really that hard, but the way she grades makes it harder to actually get the grade you want. she is not a fun teacher. don't take her.

There are no pop quizzes or tests!! I didn't have a problem with the grading, but I followed directions and enjoy learning. Goes over work. Clear grading. 3 essays, a bibliography, a final. She cares. I don't need a class to be “fun.” I need to learn for my degree, and Ms. Darlings class gave me both. 😊 Thanks Ms. D.

She was an overall really difficult teacher, I've taken higher classes then this and she just made it really difficult, you had a 8 paragraph essay once a week and she was an insanely hard grader, def would not take again !!!!

No papers once a week, there are 3 and a final with 6 to 8 paragraphs. Fair and do-able for 1302. Weekly discussions and some online workshops. Willing to meet and expects you to listen to lessons first. (Seems fair) She cares and shares that in the semester and gives helpful feedback. So glad I took her. Do recommend and would retake any day!

Prof. Darling is honestly the best teacher I've had. Class is easy to follow and everything is layed out clearly. Grading makes sense and you always know where you stand. Just make sure you actually follow the directions she gives I'd 100% recommend her to anyone, She made my first semester a lot less stressful.

Firstly, I was targeted in class and nearly ASSAULTED for trying to take a call outside the class. There are at least 5 assignments a week if you include the achieve stuf she makes you do. On top of that she is one of the harshest graders I have ever had before, and she liked to target certain people in class and call them out in front of everyone.

I loved this class. It made writing feel alive instead of a chore. We talked about why it mattered and how it connected to real life. The discussions actually made me want to speak up, and the essays helped me figure out how to say what I really think. It's the first class that made me excited to read and write.
