To start off she is a very good teacher, but makes class very difficult. She will help you as long as you come to class everyday. She makes class hard for people to drop and towards the end became very nice! I got a B in her class, even though I thought I was failing the whole time. She's a good teacher but her class is hard!

Her class is fun and interesting. However, she will pile homework on you...lots of it.

Do not expect to slack off in her class all semester and walk out with a passing grade. She truly wants her students to have a better grasp of the English language than before taking her class. If you appreciate a professor who encourages and challenges you then you will not be disappointed. She may seem stern at first but is actually really nice.

I took her class like 5 years ago and I must say she's probably one of the BEST professor's I've ever had. She pushed me like no other professor has and I learned a lot about history, literature, etc. I also felt inspired to write and she inspired me to move out of Miami and look for something more. FOr this, I thank her :)

This is not a slack off class. Expect to write and comprehend what you read. She is a great teacher. I took her during the summer for six weeks. A lot of work but you learn to write and read between the lines. If you want to learn the correct way to write then take her class. If you want an easy A, you signed up for the wrong class.

The teacher is real great and makes you write papers. She will teach you how to to write a decent paper. She may have issues but is nice.

She is a wonderful teacher. She dislikes the fact that people just pass the English portion of the CPT without any real knowledge of the language or with out any efficient form of writing. She is a very fascinating woman and I especially enjoyed getting to know her. If you want to become a much more efficient writer, you take her class. She's cool.

Everything has to go beyond what she asks if you want a good grade. W/ her final report include a table of contents, follow her exact directions and make things pretty. She's not easy but is a good teacher and doesnt care of what others think. Attendance is mandatory!!

She does give alot of essays i gotta admit but she is a great teacher and she knows how to explain things and she expects the best from you which i admire. Does not waste your time. If you want ot learn something take this class!

A good teacher. She gives out lots of work and gives great feedback in the essays. I left the class learning alot of things that I did not know before, the only problem was the small amount of time that I had her for a class. Even though she is a great teacher I always felt that in her class she enjoys making people inferior to her.

I absolutely love the way she teaches. I've learned a lot. She's willing to help you during her office hours. She informs you about scholarships, gives advice about your career if she can. She encourages you to learn (sometimes forced but hey you learn) and makes you work for your grade. Definitely not a free grade, but easy A if you work for it.

This teacher really wants you to learn. I would take her as many times as I was required to. She's good if you're good. If you're bad she's bad. Just go to her office if you're having probs, and you're set

De Falla is my favorite professor ever. She's great. Awesome prof. Truly learned how to write because of her. Take her.

i can't believe the best professor in miami is graded so low. forgive her for trying to actually teach something. to me, she was the most thoughtful, respectful, disciplined... i could go on about her qualities but I am going to leave it at this: AWESOME

I took her twice because she's the greatest teacher in Miami Dade College up to date. If you want to learn, like challenges, and truly want to have a college experience, take her. If you are scared, don't like challenges and are looking for an easy grade... De Falla is not for you. I loved her class though! I am ambitious, and adventurous, ;)

I love Professor De Falla. She has my utmost respect for her determination to make a mark in MDC where everyone seems to criticize the way she runs her class. Whereas she might come out as strict and demanding, you can tell her only intent is to make of us students, that, students. She's meant to teach!

If you want an easy professor look elsewhere. I learned so much. I had her for the mini-term so she was hardcore. Don't miss her class she will NOT give you make-up. If you want to learn something pick this professor!

I can't believe that a professor who is only trying to teach gets such a poor rating. She teaches you how to write as you're expected to once you transfer. You can't write like "she is the worse" (It's "worst", FYI) if you're planning to make it somewhere! I am grateful that she has the guts to be who she is and has high expectations for the students! Everything she's taught me will help me FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!

Prof. De Falla earned my respect with the way she has chosen to teach her classes. She doesn't care that so many students hate her; she wants you to learn. The ones that give her a low rating are those that are insecure, ignorant, illiterate, or just in it for the financial aid. You should know that once you transfer, you are expected to write the way she does. She's awesome! She's strict yeah! But she was Einstein's neighbor! You know, the genius! What else do you expect?

She just wants you to learn. She's from Princeton, lived near Einstein, she only teaches what her professor taught HER! And that's what we should all know!

To the person who said that if your English is a second language, you shouldn't take her: you are delusional! I learned English in about 3 years and everyone says I don't have an accent; it takes EFFORT! If you want to learn, improve and perfect your English, YOU SHOULD take a professor like De Falla. She challenges you and that's all it takes to succeed in life. If you can't challenge yourself... Then just drop out! I recommend her; I respect and look up to her.

Ms. De Falla ia an excellent teacher. She is a very tough grader because she expects a lot from her students. Do not expect an easy A in her class; you must work for it, but you will come out a much better student and person for that matter. Highly recommend if you enjoy writing.

SHe is an amazing professor, I don't understand why she has low ratings. People say she is difficult, possibly to those whose English is a second language. But if you are good in writing, you will do well in her class. Also, do her PORTFOLIO! It helps with your final grade.

Is the only teacher that has made me show interest about a class, this is no a class for slackers(as i am), do everything she assigns the same day and you'll have no problems, its hard but you will learn lots of History and English wont be a weakness anymore... take advantage of her... by the way i got C cause i didnt do the porfolio,but was A..

Being completely honest,her class has been the only English class from which I have learned the most. Always pay attention to everything she says and be ready to answer questions in front of everyone, follow her deadlines and you will have no problems.

Thanks to the few good comments outta the bunch, I decided to give Professor De Falla a try. Heck, best decision I've taken in college. Yes, she is arrogant, but anyone who has successfully completed college and has a degree should have some sort of right. She is absolutely brilliant, makes you think, put interest and WORK! Best professor thus far.

She is a pretty tough grader. She will also mock you for not being at the level she expects your writing to be at, not to the extent of bullying mind you but still unprofessional in my opinion. Still she is a pretty good teacher, very high vocabulary as well.

Professor DeFalla is hard but it's for your own good. She is very articulate and has a wonderful vocabulary. I worked my butt off in her class but it was well worth it. I can say, because of DeFalla, I can now write a mean essay. Beware there is a mandetory body of work portfolio due at the end! No portfolio = F in the course. She is strict.

Extremely difficult but worth the effort. I am a former ESL student, yet got an A. If you dont want to work, just dont take her. Be organized and do all assignments. Do not take in the summer.

This is a great teacher. she actually wants students to succeed!!! If you don't like to challenge yourself and don't want to deal with a teacher that actually checks your work then don't take her. Do your portfolio, start research paper early, and do the essays! She does not give you work you can't handle! This is college!!!

This professor is not as bad as other students make her sound. She is a nice person but is very hard when grading your essays. She will make you write a lot, and I mean , A LOT of essays. Honestly if you want to improve your English this is the professor for you, you just have to read and have an extend vocabulary in her class.

First thing's first, if you're not completely fluent in English don't even THINK about taking this class. De Falla can be pretty anal when it comes to small fragments in writing, but by the end of the course your writing skills will be so much better. If you can't handle the critique she gives out I don't suggest taking her, she can be mean.

Do not take her. I did all my assignments with a good grade. I was there every class and at the end she still failed me.

People it's college!...I wasn't sure if to take her class because of all the reviews posted here. Honestly she is a great professor. She reads the essays and tells you what you did wrong. Take it as constructive criticism. I took her for ENC0025. If my schedule would of been flexible I would've taken her for 1101.

She is condescending and sarcastic. She reads essays out loud and criticizes it in front of the entire class. She is anal about essays and even the way you speak when you participate. All in all, if you can handle being put on the spot and criticism well then you will do well. If you are willing to put in the effort you WILL learn. She means well.
