Very good teacher and she is so helpfull and she is always open to talk to you in her office or in class. The only problem I found was that the class was very hard. Basic biology for non-majors should not be that hard! I recomend her but not BSC1005.

True, true!! A great teacher, but the subject was to hard for students not even in science majors! They should have separate classes for non-science majors! But she was a very hot teacher!!!

The class is intense! If you are not a science major, find an easier class. There is a ton of material and biology is way more difficult than you'd think. Great instructor!

Awesome instructor, she just makes biology harder than it actually is. Her test are really hard... she makes the questions harder than they should be, she tries to trick you. Overall good teacher, knows her stuff, but makes the class really, really hard!

She's a good teacher but the subject sucks. She's pretty good at explaining stuff though, so it wasn't too bad. I ended up getting a B.

This teacher is really nice and doesn't expect much. I probably missed something like 6 classes and I got a B. If you took biology in highschool and still remember it the class shouldn't be that hard. Plus she moves pretty slow.

I never thought anyone could teach me BIO but she did. It was never boring. A tough subject, you have to study, multiple choice are very tricky. You have to understand the concepts in order to answer.

Very tuff course, I thought it would of been a lot easier and more basic, especially since I just wanted to take an introduction course!!

Shes a very good teacher, and even though its a tough subject she teaches well, and helps you out a lot. It was hard for me because i don't study a lot. But study and you'll do awesome, shes a good teacher.

If you want to take a good teacher for a difficult class, she's the one to go to.

This was a really difficult class if you didn't apply yourself but she was really knowledgable and helpful. I found it really interesting and informative. If you don't like to study, stay away from this course. She expects you to learn not spoon feed you which is what seems to missing in many other classes. I highly recommend her!

Her lectures kept me interested in the subject even though I really have no interest in biology. Tests were hard, but that was expected from such a subject.

This teacher is prety good at teaching, she tries her best to explain, but the problem with her class are the tests.. She gives quizes for every class weither it be Lab or a regular class. And if you don't like Final Exams you better stay away, she gives a manditory exam which includes every single chapter she tought from the start of the semester.

I find some other ratings rediculous. Biology & Anatomy are not casual courses. She gives pop quizes to clue in on test questions & gives more extra credit than any other class I have taken. If you want an understanding teacher who tries to give you all the chances you could get out of a very complex subject, Mary is your best bet, best choice!

These are colege science classes, not "reading rainbow!" She gives you more chances (quizes) than most other teachers. Her tests are on WHAT SHE LECTURES, so pay attention. She teaches well, the only thing she won't do for some of these egg-heads is bleed on the chalk board. She's sweet, kind, & respectful, what more can you ask for (THANKS MARY)!!

I am almost finished with my aa degree and I still think she is the best teacher I have had so far. Her lectures are interesting and cover what will be on the test so pay attention. Its a hard class and you will have to put alot of work into it but she is by far the best teacher teaching this course.

Study for her tests. It was a difficult class but with 3 young boys at home any class is hard. She is a great teacher and enjoys teaching. Study hard.

Mrs. Dettman is an amazing teacher. If you don't plan on coming to class every single day, and reading over your notes; however, you will not do so well in the class. I attended ever class, took notes, and studied and got a high B. She isn't easy, but you will learn a lot from her. It is a good course if you are willing to work for your grade.

She is a great teacher. Lots of extra credit opportunities. She occasionally goes off topic/distracted but it's always something to do with her lecture. She helped me out while I was having health problems during semester. Took her Concepts of Biology with lab class, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! She is a great lady and I can't recommend her enough.

This class was great! Biology definitely not my subject, but I ended up getting a b in the class and I failed the 3rd exam(cannot drop so study for it!). She is so interactive with the class. I drove an hr to get to the oviedo campus, but it was well worth it.:)

She is very good at explaining the material and very knowledgable. I feel her tests were unfair bc a lot of the q's had more than one right answer. It's a hard class but I would definitely choose her for future classes.

VERY difficult class, you have to do some hardcore studying to keep up. Tests are very difficult and require a lot of memorization. Though she does have a genuine interest in helping her students learn. I probably would have passed with a C but personal issues prevented me. Study minimum 6-8 hours a week, never miss a class/lab and you might pass.

Funny and helpful teacher. The tests are on the difficult side for some students. She teaches at a slower pace and will answer all your questions. Highly recommended.

She is an amazing Professor, extremely knowledgeable with her courses and always makes a point to help her students succeed (very helpful). I took her for Biology and A&P I, and I would of taken her for A&P II & Micro. but she wasn't offering those classes. (that should tell you enough). HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!

I took Ms. D's online A&P prep class. She organized everything perfectly, included interactive text and audio lectures if that's your thing. Quizzes straight from the lectures, even tho online are basically all open book if needed. She's was very helpful and graded/answered questions extremely quickly. Would take her again depending on the subject.

Very nice teacher, does stray off topic at times but she tells great stories to help you remember stuff. I took her for summer term A and it went fast but she was very fair on tests and homework. Critical thinking skills are a must for her lecture tests.

To start this is not an easy class and you will have to study. Professor Dettman does a good job explaining, and is very helpful. Study the book and her powerpoints and you will do well.

Its hard work but if you take the time to take notes and study you will do fine. She is a fair teacher and always willing to help.

Dr. Dettman is the best instructor I've ever had. She is ver helpful and really cares about her students. Her class is really fun. She uses different teaching methods that makes the whole class actually interact with the new material. That's why I registered with her for A&P2

AMAZING teacher! I've attended larger universities and even smaller community colleges but she is by far the most amazing teacher I've had. She bends over backwards to make sure EVERY student is comfortable and knows what to expect. The material is not easy and is not suppose to be but she makes sure everyone understands it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great online Driected Studies Biology Class. Just 1 grade point, but it is worth taking. Online presentations are interactive and it covers a lot of material you will need for A&P. I recommend this class.

Wow. I really dreaded the thought of biology but with Mrs. Dettman teaching, it was a breeze! She really goes over information in well put together powerpoints. the quizzes and tests are easy if you learn the basic meanings. the exams don't focus on small details. she makes jokes and keeps the class laughing!! BEST BIOLOGY TEACHER! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Mrs. Dettman is a great instructor. She is difficult but cares about her students and really wants to make sure you know what you are learning. I can't wait to take her for Anatomy next semester.

Dettman is a nice lady, but her test are difficult. The test consists of multiple choice, t&f, fill in the blank, and essay. She doesn't like to give to much detail on the test material either. You will learn from her she will not hand you an A. Laziness will not prevail in this class,alot of studying is involved.

This class requires a lot of work to get an A. It is definitely a rigorous course. I got out with a B (barely) and do not regret taking her class. She is funny and I learned a lot. My only complaint is that nothing was graded on time.

This online course was a perfect refresher of math and science, i.e. bio hierarchy, chemistry, biology,human body systems.There is writing required but it is the type of writing that counts.Readthe chapters,take the tests, and write.I didn’t get to meet the lovely MD and wish that I had.There is no doubtthat i wouldtake a class with her in person.

Ms. Dettman is a great teacher. Took her for A&P 1 and wish I could take her for A&P 2 also. You need to study for her class, but she does really great lectures that help you learn a lot about the class. I would recommend her to anyone! She's also one of the nicest teachers I've had.

I highly recommend this teacher! She was wonderful. Very straightforward, gave lots of extra credit, and I genuinely enjoyed her class. Not only did I learn a lot, but I also felt like she fostered a good environment where I wasn't afraid to ask questions. Bonus: she is very nice and if you talk to her in office hours she may extend due dates.

Awesome instructor! This was a distance learning course and had lab in class. She explains everything and gives plenty of study material. Tests can be tricky but are easy if you read the chapter. She gives enough assignments to keep grade up and allows late work. She wants you to pass and understand the material. Read chapter along with ppt!

I loved Professor Dettman's class! She was so helpful and clear with everything. Definitely not an easy A but if you try hard enough, finish the assignments, and pay attention you can definitely get it! She is also very understanding with attendance AND shes awesome!

i took her for a bterm class. It was an easy class super simple. I picked up the textbook once through the entire class. you really dont need the textbook for the online class because she gives you notes. Other than that its easy and painless class.

Best teacher I've ever had. CLASS IS TOUGH. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. STUDY. Nothing is given to you but if you work hard this is an obtainable A and definitely B. Had her for Gen Bio and A&PI. Wish I could of had her for A&PII. Easily has to be one of the best teachers at Seminole State. If you put in the effort for her she will do the same for you!

Hard class, but she was a great professor. Records her lectures and posts them for you and gives you plenty of review material. You MUST study. Go to class, review back on her material and you'll be fine. Lots of homework to help boost grade. Wish I could take her for A&P II.

A&P I is a hard course, however, she is truly a great teacher! An A is most certainly attainable, but you will have to work for it. You can not be lazy in this course. She is always there to help when you need it all you have to do is ask. I would definitely take her class again! You learn A LOT and it is generally interesting.

The class itself requires a lot of studying and memorization. I took the lab in class and the lecture online. She is super nice and willing to help. Tests are reasonable but kind of all over the place within the chapters. Replaces lowest exam grade with final exam grade.

I took Prof. Dettman's HB A&P one class and LOVED her! She made learning the material fun. Minimal homework, a lot of open lab time provided so you can go over the muscles, bones etc. Lab practicals are straight from the box and mastering anatomy. Lecture exams are tough.
