GREAT teacher, loved her, was sad when I had to move away and could not take anymore of her classes. She is by far my favorite teacher.

One of the best professors I have ever had. Makes the course interesting and easy to be related to, one of the things most college professor/teachers lack nowadays.

VERY easy GPA raiser; however, prepare for personal stores that run the gamut of topics. Tends to get off-topic and covers chapters slowly but this is negated by the easy tests. Allows students to pretty much run the show, can turn into a zoo quickly. Sometimes misspells words, other grammar errors.

Very smart woman! She knows how to teach!! Easy if you do all that's asked of you, difficult if you don't listen and aren't in class. She tells you what's on the test exactly! Hope to get another course with her.

Betsie Cole is the reason for me changing my major to Soc. She's an amazing teacher. Personal stories make her seem real; she loves to hear how you're doing, as well. Very easy to contact and is a very understanding human being-something you don't always find in college! Enroll in her classes!

Easy class. Be ready to discuss sexual slang and listen to others talk about their love-lives. Have an open mind. Wether you like the class or not, you will learn something.

gives a study guide each test, sometimes typed out for you. takes attendance everyday, but not That strict with it. this class was really worth it, and it always kept my attention because i could always understand what was going on.

Ms. Cole is truly a wonderful lady and everyone who has the opportunity to take one of her classes should do so! Tests were all take-home, although attendance is mandatory. Basically, come to class, listen to her interesting lectures, be open minded and you'll do wonderfully! Fabulous lady!

I have to say that she is a wonderful teacher. She will tell you everything you need to know for every test and final. She knows her stuff and is very easy. Gives exact answers to what will be on her tests. Also gives tons of extra credit.

I disagree about her hating men. She is a very simple lady and love to hear about her stories. Her husband is really sick and u can tell she was stressed about that. Very easy tests b/c of her study guides, will give easy extra credit. Take her! she is very easy!! Just attend her classes. I promise...very easy!!!

She was a VERY good teacher!! If you come to class and take notes, and study the study guide that she gives, which she tells you EVERYTHING that's going to be on the test including bonus questions. Easy tests, True/False kind of tricky, but not if you study. Very EASY class, great teacher, really like the way she teaches, she is a GREAT teacher!

I liked her class. Sometimes she goes on rants about totally unrelated things, like the dangers of Nalgene bottles, but she's really nice and will do anything to help you. She also gives study guides. I would recommend her.

After the first test she gives you a list of what you got to study for. Beware most of her questions are T/F and she changes only one word. She offers plenty of extra credit

The class I took with her was Marriage and Family. We used the book Marriages and Families (6th edition). This class was for learning about gender, marriage in other cultures, families in other cultures and their dysfunctions. I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Betsy is wonderful and open-minded! She's pretty funny too. I recommend the class and her.

Absolutely the best professor that you will ever have. She is funny, intelligent, caring and she makes the class very enjoyable. I am going to take Marriage & Family next semester just so I can get her for a teacher again. If you get the chance, take HER classes.

i love ms. cole! this class is one of my favorites...she lectures without really lecturing. it's like she's talking to you one on one. as long as you take halfway decent notes and pay attention, you'll sail through into to soci.

She's a 9 out of 10. Very good teacher. She throws in movies and group discussions to break the monotony of lectures. I thought her assignment descriptions on D2L were kind of confusing. However, she's still an easy A.

I like Betsie a lot as both a teacher & a person. If you go into her class and be a serious student, you will learn a lot. Studying for her tests is a must, but hey, college is like a job; so work for your grades! She is one of my fav teachers on campus, but she is serious about you acting like an adult, which college students should anyway!

She is a very direct person. Intimidating to say in the least. I learned the most in this class. It is a lecture class and you only have two grades but they were easy quizes and she tells you EXACTLY what is going to be on the test. In the same order as she gives you on the study guide too!!!

Easiest class I have taken so far in college. She gives 4 tests with each consisting of about 60-80 questions. These are your entire grade and personally, I never made below a 100 on any of them. The study guide IS the test. And it is almost entirely definitions directly from the book.

Super easy. The grade is all tests. Test = EASY. Just do the study guide and you'll make an A on every test. She says there is homework but we never had any. You can get extra credit too.

She's a stickler for attendance. It's mandatory. But it's not a bad class. Read or at least review before each class. It helps understand exactly what she's saying.She's helpful and you can email her at any time. I enjoyed her class. She does try to trick you on the tests so make sure to study.

Ms. Cole takes attendance & you must post your absences, so be prepared to go to class. The book isn’t really necessary as long as you take good notes. She posts a study guide for each test, & she really sticks exactly to it. If you fill it out & read over it a few times you should do well. Plus, she gives many chances for extra credit. Easy class!

Ms. Cole makes her class interesting by telling you stories to make the topics relatable. Her tests are exactly like the study guide but is very detail orientated. Pay close attention. Ms. Cole is amazing. Her class is incredibly interesting and interactive. She has you do discussion board posts and comment back and forth with other students. The tests are easy (online and you can use your book). This is definitely one of my favorite classes I've taken at ETSU.

I had her for intro to Sociology. At the time, I had a lot of family problems which caused me to miss class alot. I went to talk to her after class one day, intending to drop the class. She allowed me to come to a later class, and guided me to do projects that took my grade from a D to a high B. She really will do everything she can to help you.

I LOVED this class. It was Intro to Sociology and Dr. Cole taught it so well. She would teach the basics of the information from the book and also include her own personal stories and examples that made it so much more entertaining and easy to learn. I suggested this class to all of my friends and I will be taking her classes again in the future.

Her tests go by her study guide, but if you don't attend class you cannot fill out the study guide. Just pay attention and TAKE NOTES. She's great!

Mrs. Cole is a good teacher. She is very precise on what she wants and her study guides are WORD for WORD the tests you'll take. She rarely gives homework, when she does it's super easy. She's very connected to her classes and emails you back quickly. The only thing I think could be improved his her attendance policy.

Ms. Cole is pretty laid back professor but she is very specific in how she wants things done in her class. She does take points off your final grade if you have missed so many days. Tests are fairly simple if you pay attention and use her study guides. Doesn't like the use of ANY technology in her class. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.

Her tests were exactly like her study guides, but to fill out the study guides, you had to take good notes. She did not use PowerPoints at all, and she is very strict about not having cell phones. She taught the material very well, and there was not much homework. Go to class and take notes, and you will do great.

Professor Cole gives you all the tools to succeed. She is freakishly obsessed with her students reading, but it is all just some odd sham. You don't need the book. As long as you take notes, and spend the time to make a study guide with the review she gives you, you will do great. Test are ALL multiple choice, and go in order of study guide!

Her class is great for anyone looking into the study of sociology. Her tests are simple and she gives thorough study guide material. She will tell you literally word for word what is on the test and you are allowed to critique the tests afterward. She is somewhat heavy with note-taking, but it helps for her tests. Come to class everyday and write down the definitions of everything on the board and also what she tells you to. You will need those definitions to fill out study guide. Study guides for exam are everything you need to know. Complete the study guides and memorize it and you will do well. No need for book.

Betsie is one of the best professors I have had. She takes the time to go over class material. The only thing Is she does not allow electronics in class: you have to handwrite everything. She does give you time to write down everything, though. There is plenty of extra credit and she will help you any way she can. I highly recommend taking her!

One of the best. She wasn't too harsh and her lectures are very interesting. She's a very caring and funny woman. She doesn't like phones in her class, if she catches you using your phone she will call you out and tell you to put it up.

Ms. Cole is very straight forward which makes the class so much easier. She pretty much goes by the book and gives very clear and organized notes. She actually writes the guided notes on the board and address each topic thru lecture as well as the details you need to know. Tests are straight from the notes and she gives a study guide:) shes good

Ms. Cole is a fantastic teacher that tries her hardest to get her students an A. She basically hands you the notes by writing them on the board, and then makes the test study guides directly from lecture notes. I PROMISE YOU if you show up and take notes you will make an A. Very little homework and its EXTREMELY easy. I did not get the book.

This class was the least of my worries this semester. As long as you halfway take notes, do the study guides, and look over them before the test youll pass.

Professor Cole is an amazing professor. She gives study guides for every test and the test is straight from the study guide. She also provides rubrics for all homework assignments so you know exactly what she expects. Would definitely recommend to anyone!!

Ms Cole is great. She's funny, sweet, and very well qualified. Show up, take notes, and you'll be fine. It is all whiteboard lecture so if you miss, make sure you have a buddy to get notes from.

Ms. Cole is one of the best profs Ive ever had. She is hilarious, relates her lecture to personal experiences, and makes tests and homeworks really easy for you. The study guides are the tests word from word and in the same order. She does all whiteboard notes, so show up to class as much as you can. I highly recommend her for SOCI1010.

Ms. Cole is a wonderful teacher who really wants you to learn. While the material is hard, she gives study guides beforehand and offers a day where she answers any questions one might have, so if you do all of that, you will pass.

This class is super easy. She is a slow grader but she gives good feedback. She is super detail oriented. Her tests are long but not hard and open notes. She also gives extra credit at the end of the semester.

This was an asynchronous online class. Assignments have a detailed and clear rubric. There was a chapter reading, 2 assignments and a test each chapter. As long as you did the work and read it was an easy A. She is understanding if there is an emergency and will let you turn in something late (a valid excuse). Extra credit at the end. Loved her!

This was a great class, follow the syllabus and follow instructions. Test were all multiple choice and super easy. I would recommend this prof.

Very easy online course. Professor Cole isn't a harsh grader and all exam questions are straight from the textbook. Discussion board posts are due every week from material in the online textbook.There's only 2 papers due throughout the semester and they are just reviews of the text. Definitely recommend as an easy online elective!

This class was very enjoyable and interesting. Mrs. Coke is very understanding when it comes to late work and offers several extra credit opportunities. There is a clear grading criteria provided at the beginning of the semester. Mrs. Coke is extremely nice in her emails and her feedback on assignments. I took this class online but I loved it!

Very easy credit for social sciences! 3-4 one-two paragraph assignments over the semester, one discussion post a week, and four tests throughout the semester. I actually liked the curriculum, and I thought the class was great.

Ms. Cole was a great professor, but I do not reccommend this as a 7 week course. There's lots of reading, so you will spend a lot of your week reading the chapters. Deadlines were reasonable, but the tests are long. If I took this over a whole semester, I think I would've enjoyed it because the material is interesting and Ms. Cole really cares.

I took her online course and it was a very interesting and manageable class. She gives a rubric for every discussion and writing assignment which are very clear and to the point on what she wants. Lots of extra credit opportunities on the exams and optional assignments. Highly recommend for an intro class!

easy A! she cares about her students and is so understanding with late work, especially since recent events! makes it very clear how she bases grading, she presents a lot of opportunities to get extra credit, very discussion post heavy but most classes are. she was of the sweetest professors I had this semester! please take her class!! :DD

Her Intro to Sociology class is very easy. Attendance matters (doing your work on time every week). She gives extra credit opportunities, she's a very concise grader, and she gives great feedback. Occasionally she will offer an opportunity to fix mistakes made on graded work as well. I recommend Ms. Cole if you need to take Intro to Sociology.
