I took Women and Psych online. Interesting class; weekly reflective papers make this seem more like an extended therapy session than an academic course. Textbooks are a little dated and can be hard to find. Professor is very hands-off; don't expect her to provide feedback on any assignments. Easy A if you do the work.

Career development elective. Extremely easy class. She makes it low stress and is lenient on grading. Super nice teacher as well. Recommend.

Took Women and Psych online. A lot of the material and weekly discussion was about applying the text to our own experiences and reflecting on it. I completed assignments and posts without doing any reading. She briefly explains what the reading was about in lecture notes. Weekly reflections were great but became redundant towards the end. Easy A

Mary Francis is amazing. If you keep an open mind during the course, it could be life-changing. If not, it will merely be interesting and engaging. Not in any way a typical psych course, but definitely worth taking. Lots of writing, but it isn't hard - more reflective.

Took Psychology & Women over the winter break. This class is really more of an experience than anything else. Mary Francis is extremely inspirational and has a lot offer to her students. Men should be perfectly fine in this class, she doesn't discriminate. I would say anyone would be able to get an A. Loved this class and wish she taught more!

This professor was one of the best that I have had. She was very helpful and answered any questions. She grades assignments quickly and gives helpful feedback. There is a lot of reading, but frankly I found the material so interesting that the reading was enjoyable. Definitely recommended!!

She is an easy a and very helpful for seniors that are trying to figure our what's next. Very helpful and the class ended three weeks before all my others. She actually requests that students come on ratemyprofessor and rates her.

This was a great class. I learned so much and was pleasantly surprised by the assigned textbooks (which I will be keeping for future reference). The assignments were clear and concise, discussion post prompts actually generated interaction between class members, and the material was helpful and engaging.

LOVED this class. I took it online over the summer for elective credits. As long as you keep up with the readings and weekly posts, it's not bad at all. We had two essays and a journal we had to keep throughout the class. The journal sounds intimidating at the beginning, but she breaks up the due dates so it turns out to be wicked easy.

MaryFrancis is a teacher you cannot forget. She's very understanding, motivating and wordly. Although the title is "Psych & Women", it was not a feministic, man-hating class. Our class learned so much about what it is to be a human being, male or female or what have you. The lessons flew by, no matter how long. We also watched great videos.

She was very help and made the class less overwhelming because it was a two week course so she understand the pressure that is on us as students.

Mary is the best professor I've had in my college career. I took Women Psych with her and the class was very interesting. Very open and knowledgeable in her field of study. The reading wasn't too heavy, the writing was a good amount based on your own life pretty much. Show up & be inspired, do your work and you will get a GOOD grade. Will recommend

I have never found the need to come on here to rate a professor. But, Professor Drake is different. She is inspirational. She is extremely intelligent, open-minded, forgiving, kind, and will give you amazing feedback. The material you cover in her Psychology of Women class is raw, and real. She gives you the tools, but you have to think critically.

She is a really great professor who cares about her students. The course is writing intensive but didn't find it to be difficult. I'd recommend the course.

Prof. Mary Francis Drake was an amazing professor. I took her online self-assessment and career development class and loved it. Her course was extremely easy to navigate and I always knew what to expect. I found this class helpful for many reasons. I now have a well written resume and learned some skills to help for job interviews etc.

She was a great professor, you really need to think and dig deep in this class. Got a chance to really get to know the other students on a deeper level. The beginning of the class is skeptical, but by the end the you'll learn more about yourself and your relationships/friendships.

One of the best professors I have had at UML. I took this course in the winter session and it looked like it was going to be overwhelming but it was not at all. Took her online, loved her for Women and Psychology. Get ready for a good amount of reading, but it is worth it. The class is very enlightening. There are weekly papers roughly 250 words, but they are personal narratives. Also stay up to date with the discussions.

This class was amazing! The lectures are very interesting and everyday is always an adventure. I loved learning about my self and reading the two assigned books. Though there are a lot of readings and assignments, it is worth it. The professor is very caring and wants everyone to pass. Overall, a top notch course and professor!

I took Psychology and Women with Professor Drake and truly loved it. It was a beautiful time that felt less like a 'class' and more like a whole life lesson. There's definitely a lot of reading, but it's worth it. I would suggest both this professor and class to anyone at UML.

Took Psy in women online during the summer, it's a very good reflective class that requires a decent amount of work weekly, no quizzes or exams but a lot of writing! You also would be reading 2 books for the weekly discussions. It's not hard, just a lot more writing than I expected as a science major. But you will be fine if you complete the work.

Seriously take the Psych & Women class. Such a cool class! You don't necessarily need the books, but I recommend getting them. They're not expensive at all. I think I paid like $20 in total?? Not a hard class, but you learn a lot because there's a lot of genuine conversation in the discussion boards. The professor asks interesting questions too!

This class is so good, it should be a requirement for all students to take a career development class like this, and Ms. Drake is exactly the sort of person you want teaching it. You can tell that she cares about the value students are getting from the course and its assignments, the resources given are plentiful and SO useful. heartily recommend!

I loved this course and found Mary Francis Drake to be a thoughtful and caring teacher. The class was well-organized and I found it easy to stay on track even though it was only a three week class. This course is one of the most valuable classed I've taken at UML as it helped me understand myself and my experience as a woman so much better.

3 week accelerated online course. Mary Francis is very serious about her students understanding the content of the required reading and tries to tie in real life scenarios. It seemed like a lot of work, but I do feel confident in what I have learned from her class. I would gladly take a full length course with her again.

Professor Drake is a great professor. I took her accelerated Psych and Women class over my Winter break. We had to read form two books but they were amazing! The assignments are very fair and easily paced. Only homework was to read the chapters and short lectures then to respond in the discussion board. She's quick with feedback and very available!

I took the accelerated 8-week version of this class. The two books we had to read were amazing and it was the first time I actually liked reading for a class. Every week we had three discussion boards and a personal narrative. We're graded by the DBs, PNs, a film analysis, the final PN, and an opening assignment. Great class in general!

I like how this Professor allows me to write my own opinions. This particular class would be very helpful to anyone interested in a career, or career- transitioning, or wanting a confidence boost. All my questions were answered and respected. highly recommend Mary Drake!

It's my second time taking Professor Drake's course and both were amazing. One in sociology and the other in psychology. She's always available and understanding of circumstances. Assignments are full of knowledge and enjoyable. I would definitely take another course with her again.

Took the 8-week Psychology & Women. As a guy from birth, I had no problem in the course. She just wants to see you're thinking critically. There are weekly two-page papers based on your life, and a discussion post about the book (NOT typical textbook). One final paper (2 pages) about a film that you relate the course to at the end. Take the course!

Would buy the textbook to keep because it was an easy read and well informed. The books are just normal books, not like a math textbook. Prof. is nice and I was able to have extended deadlines for my missed assignments. Would highly recommend for an easy A

Professor Drake is one of the best educators I have had in my 3 years as a college student. She cares about your grade and wants to see you succeed. Overall, I enjoyed this course. It was heavy discussion/paper based, but the topics were fun to right about!

There is a lot of reading but the books are interesting. Her syllabus is very detailed so you know exactly what is expected of you before the class starts. She grades fairly and gives you a chance to make your grade better, if you show effort in the class. I would definitely take another class from her.

Took the course online and was run very smoothly. Weekly folders with an agenda and all required links were included and it was simple to do the work and know you had everything complete. Very understanding professor.

First time I actually stop to rate a class.I am a man, and boy did I learn a lot in this class, so gentlemen get ready! So there is a lot of reading and a lot of discussions due weekly, so be warned. There will be a couple of essays (about 6 all 2-3 pages each). But the discussions/essays are opinion based and/or based on your life. Easy grader.

Professor Francis Drake is wonderful-- be prepared for a lot of discussion board posts, but you end up having a lot of wonderful talks about the topic so I enjoyed it. She obviously loves the material, and assigns really interesting projects. She's also very understanding of late work if you message her, and is quick to reply.

I loved this professor because you can tell she cares about students as humans and individuals. She posted and assigned material that was life-changing and good for the soul. I learned more in this class than most because the topics and assignments related to yourself and how you can become better as a person. Highly recommend.

I was enrolled in one of her 3 week winter intersession courses, and although there's a lot of work thrown at you at once, she organizes the materials in a way that make you feel constantly engaged and interested, all of the assignments are meaningful and thought out.I thoroughly enjoyed taking her course and 10/10 would recommend to anyone else.

MUST TAKE! This course should be mandatory for all, especially women before graduation! I would recommend Professor M.F. Drake to anyone as she is extremely knowledgeable, well spoken, and clear about all assignments required. I am sad my course has ended.

Prof. Drake is easy to communicate with answers your questions rather than give you a bunch of words with no answer. There is a lot of reading and video watching, but she makes up for it by not requiring uselss busy work such as research papers. She keeps the class focused on the real-world job market and wants us to be ready when we get there.

I enjoyed taking her class and would love to take another class by her again. Workload is reasonable, and all of the work serves a purpose. Discussion posts with responses, 3 quizzes, and a few short papers.

It was an easy and fun course! I recommend taking it in your final year if you feel like you don't know what to do after graduation. It gave me a lot of confidence and motivation.
