She is a very fun prof. A little bit confusing, multiple choice tests.
Really funny. Really nice. Her tests can be hard, but she is willing to help you out and make your grade better. If you are going to take a geology class I definitely recommend her.
LOVED this class... it was so funny and she kept the class very entertaining. LOTS of extra credit chances in the class as long as you speak up. multiple choice tests straight from book and powerpoint put on blackboard and videos. we watched supercroc, day after 2morrow, and dantes peak.
She is def. the coolest teacher! Test - mult. choice, no note taking - all on blackboard to print! Fun & sometimes Extra credit for attendance!! HOLLA!
GREAT TEACHER!
Great teacher, funny and geeky as anything. The tests are extremely difficult, but there's a ton of extra credit... which was the only reason a number of people passed. However, midway through the semester she realized how difficult things were, and there were take home exams, which helped a *lot*.
She is the most awesome professor ever. Her class is highly reccomended :)
Great teacher who really works for her students!
She is very helpful and energetic. Her enthusiasm in class really helped me learn a lot. She made me very interested in earth science and I never wanted to miss a class. She's awesome!!!
She is a good teacher. Just study real hard for the exams and have good attendance for extra points.
This lady is crazy!! She was nice but really weird. She gave a ton of extra credit and her tests were so easy. I ended up with a 112 average in that class.
Mary Hall-Brown is an excellent teacher! Her outfits are usually a little wacky but they keep your attention. She teaches the class by her power point notes which she posts on BB so you can follow along. Her tests are kina hard but pretty straight forward. If you know the material she goes over in class then you can definately make an A. I would most definately recommend taking one of her classes!!!

Loved this class (which is surprising, considering I hate geology). She was so focused and so interested in her subject that you just kinda get... swept up in her enthusiasm and dragged along for the ride. Her tests are a little hard, but she goes out of her way to make sure you've got all the info you need. Read the book, go to class regularly, PAY ATTENTION, ask questions if you don't understand and you WILL make an A.
She is about one of the nicest people around. So into her son's superhero wardrobe, it's freakish, but I love it. She has what it takes to make class interesting. I think a lot of her.

She is a quirky fun loving woman. She definitely wants to help students. Her tests are hard. Make sure to read the chapters and the power points. Don't be fooled if she gives you an open book test...it will be hard
if she try's to act like she doesn't give extra just laugh. In the beginning of the semester she said sternly absolutely NO extra credit and I wound up with 20 total points extra credit...she's sweet, but make sure you read and study for her tests
I loved this prof. but her tests are extremely hard. You have to study a lot b/c she tries to trick you on tests. Do all of the extra credit possible.
Yea most people hate earth science I was the same but she was able to help out for the most part. if she try's to act like she doesn't give extra just laugh. In the beginning of the semester she said sternly absolutely NO extra credit and I wound up with 20 total points extra credit...she's sweet, but make sure you read and study for her tests
I really did not enjoy having Halll-Brown as a teacher. She acts like a teenager and trys to make class fun, but at the same time she tries to trick you on her tests. No matter how hard u study she will trick you. She does give extra credit though. If your in her class to actually learn something about Geography, get out.
Tests are very hard, but she was a blast! She was very helpful.
Slightly tough class, but for something I was taking to fulfill a requirement she made it highly entertaining.
You have to know the material and you really do have to study, but thats what you came to college for so this shouldn't be a problem. Great woman, does her best to share her enthusiasm. Take this GEO 103 class above all others. I promise you will learn something if you want to. I should have been a Geography major!!
If you DON'T want to learn something about earth science, get out. Because the only way you are going to pass her tests is if you truly learn the concepts. She was a lot of fun. Better a lively teenage wannabee than a half dead drone.
changes her expectations through the semester and she does not clarify what she wants when working on projects. I took this section because i thought it would be easier and i would learn more as opposed to teachers i thought were harder, i was wrong. worked hard. learning nowhere near enough. deserved a much higher grade. honestly. avoid her.
I agree with the last person, she failed basically everyone on the final project that was worth 50 percent of the grade! She made nice comments to everyone about their projects on presentation day and acted very sweet and then we get our grades.
If you don't come to class you don't do well. Follow power point and read the chapters. If you don't do well its your stupidity. She pretty much tells you whats on the tests. If you fail this class you should go flip burgers!
Loved her! She is so enthusiastic, and her teaching style makes everything very clear. No attendance policy, but don't take advantage of it because she will get angry.
She does open book test but they are pretty difficult if you dont attend class or study for more than 1 hour/1 day. She is very outgoing and I guarantee you will have fun in this class!! I recommend taking notes even if she says something out of the ordinary. She is understanding and kind of strict.
Very fun to be in her clas. Sweet voice and easy on the ears. Friendly! Recomend to anyone. Watch out for extra credit. 4 exams through semester. 3-4 mandatory class days excluding exam days.
Great teacher. She makes class fun. She gives Extra Credit for answering questions in class, so make sure you know what's going on. She does give pop quizzes that are totally unexpected. Tests are easy if you study everything BEFORE the night before the test. She's a great teacher and the class is fun, you just have to work hard.
ughhh not a good teacher. She doesnt explain things well at all.
Her test are very had you have to read the book and study the powerpoints. If you are looking for a easy teacher this is not the one it requires a lot of studying
she is very nice and will help out when needed. her tests are very hard and you really need to study to do well. she made lectures interesting though =]
OKAY SO SHE'S REALLY NICE.her tests are hard but i only passed one and still passed the class with a C because she gave like a million xtra points.she's very lenient
Great teacher, makes the class really fun, cool....the only bad thing is her TEST! it is extremely hard. Good Luck. I studied and even had a tutor but it never helped. Although she does give extra credit to attendance. Don't take if you have alot of classes.
HARD HARD HARD TEACHER. I studied endless hours and BARELY passed. SHE DOES NOT TEACH AT A 100 LEVEL!!! If you are NOT IN LOVE with earth science, DO NOT TAKE IT WITH HER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very Hard Class....she tries to help by giving extra credit but than again the smart people already answered it before you even have to chance to say anything....Test was extremely hard!!!! She is a good teacher but he test will pull your GPA down...I even had a tutor and study a week before....it was still hard! Good luck whoever has her!
One of the most interesting professors I have ever had. The tests are hard if you only go by the notes. Read the chapters and if you study from her notes AND the BOOK, you will get an A every time. Its not that hard to pass her class, you just have to try. Its really fun just listening to her talk about rocks. she gets super exited about them.
I'm a geo major. Way too hard for INTRO level. Switched areas cause she scared me & said I was ready for next level. Brags about making exams hard. Told us what to study but none was on exams, all was stuff she said not to worry about. Waited til after mid/drop to tell us project was our final exam grade. U need a comp science degree to have a clue
In the beginning, this professor was hard but you have to show that you're interested in her class. Sit in the front!! Introduce yourself to Mary Hall-Brown because she is super easy to talk to. If she has a field trip planned, go :D It was soo much fun! I really liked this professor.
fun teacher, loves her subject. test are highly hard. if you read the book, attend class, ask questions you will do fine. If you want a lay back class this is def not for you. at the end of the semester she will give extra credit. I had to take tutoring pass with a B
I had her for GEO 103. The textbook and her PowerPoints posted online contained everything I needed to know for the exam. She randomly takes attendance so you still need to come to class. She is friendly and really likes to help students so introduce yourself, ask questions, and you'll do fine. Lots of studying for exams is a must!
The tests are really hard & while attendance is not mandatory- i highly suggest going to class. She gives information that is later on the tests during class & her test questions are APPLICATION questions-meaning you have to apply concepts-not just know them. She will help you if you have trouble on the tests. Good teacher, hard class.
HARD TEACHER!!! She's nice and all but get a different Geo teacher!! She gives a big speech on how her test aren't meant to trick you but she REALLY does throw in trick questions. I studied countless hours and BARELY passed. Do not take this course with her! You will regret it!!
Read all power points she post on blackboard! It's literally just about 80% of all her exams. 10% from class lecture and the other 10% is from the book. Got a B- in the class and I hardly even opened the book. The first exam was hard since no one really studied.
Dr. Hall-Brown professor is very fair and sweet. She donates the money she makes from selling scan-trons for tests to the animal shelter, and she will help you as long as you seek it out. I took her the flash cards I made before tests and she even helped me study! You don't find many like her anymore. She's truly a blessing for students.
She tells you exactly what will be on her exams, plus she gives you 25 points extra credit toward all of your exams combined and also drops the lowest exam score. She is extremely helpful and super nice. Definitely take her class.
Incredibly easy because she relates the material in a down-to-earth way. She's always wanting to help you if you need it too. Only grades are five tests (lowest gets dropped) and an insane amount of optional extra credit. Take good lecture notes and go over them a little and you'll do fine even if you don't like science.
GO TO CLASS. Not only is she a stickler for attendance, but nearly everything you'll need to know for the tests comes from the lecture. The textbook is "required" but she only puts like two questions on each test from the textbook, so you really don't have to read it.
The textbook is "required," but DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on it! An iClicker is not "required," but she tells you HALFWAY through that she gives POINTS if you use it. No matter how much I studied or went to class, I could not make above a 75 on her tests. She puts all of her effort into TRICKING you instead of TEACHING you. Thankful for Extra Credit
Great teach, funny and overall fun to have, you do though have to go to class and read your text, thats just the facts of life if you dont read or go to class you deserve the grade you got this is collage not HS.
The people on here complaining about her just didn't study. She seems super strict the first week of class but she is very understanding and helpful as long as you seek her out. If you go to class and pay attention to her hints you will do well.
Great professor! She has a lot of energy in class which is helpful to learn the material. Lots of extra credit given which helps! The textbook helps with the tests by explaining more in depth. Extra points are given at the end of the semester for attendance. GO TO CLASS!!!
If you aren't a science person, don't take her. She's very nice and a great teacher but her tests try to trick you. Tons of extra credit is given though, for attendance also. If you do take her class, study and make your Bs or Cs on the test then extra credit will bring you to a B+ or A-
Prof Hall-Brown is hillarious. She cares about you and will want to help you if you ask her. You have to take notes, if you miss lectures you wont pass. Also attendance is extra credit which was my saving gracehelped me pass. Tests are BRUTAL bcz a lot of stuff to remember. So you have to study a lot, take good notes & any problems, ask her!
She is very nice but tends to over-explain simple things and tricks you on difficult concepts on tests. Shes lax on attendance, except on lab days. Could never get through an entire ppt presentation lecture, didnt explain things well, pretty much have to read the book and teach yourself, but she will help if you go out of your way to get it.
Take this professor. Classes are funny. She loves to make the information relevant and interesting. She gives 4 exams and drops lowest exam grade. Exams are wordy somewhat difficult, but if you know the material and listen to her test hints in class, you can easily pass with an A. Also she is a dog lover and talks about rescuing dogs a lot :)
Okay the tests in this class are really hard but she makes the class fun and she gives LOADS of extra credit to the point where it may put you a letter grade higher. Also i bought a textbook ( which is optional) and didn't use it once.
Tests are hard, but if you get your B's and C's on them and do all of the extra credit on them, you have a chance at a high B or A. The extra credit isn't even work; she just asks you to send her selfies of you at campus events like plays or games, which is nice. This is a flashcard kind of class! They will save you on the tests.
She is amazing! Exams are tough but she helps out alot with the extra credit!
Dr. Brown is a great professor! She has a passion for Earth Science and enjoys sharing it with her students. In her lectures, she adds humor and relates the content back to real life issues to make the material easier to understand. Studying is necessary as the tests are hard. Dr. Brown enjoys helping out her students. A must for a science class.
Basic lecture class. 4 exams. She is super passionate about this subject. Super sweet and eager to help you understand the material. Concepts aren't hard to grasp, but it's a lot of info. She tells you exactly what to do to pass her tests. FLASHCARDS! Go to class! She gives hints at what will be on the test! Used the book for vocab. Study early!!!!
Tells you how to pass her class. Warns you how her tests are tough. She uploads every powerpoint from lectures. Recommends that you print them off and take them to class so you can take side notes (GOOD IDEA). Vocab is everything. Flashcards will save you. Go to class for hints on test material. She HATES phone users and web browsers! Love her.
Mary is an amazing teacher! I hate science and was nervous about taking this course. But, as long as you go to all classes, take notes, and study, you'll be fine! I barely had to try and got an A- in this class. Student would have to TRY to fail, in my opinion. She is very excited about what she teaches which makes it even easier. Wonderful woman!
Mary was an awesome professor! The class was hard, and the the tests were tough, but she is extremely helpful and super sweet! She is really passionate about science and loves teaching. The test questions are tricky, so make sure you take really good notes and study a lot. Overall, one of the best professors I have ever had.
Tests are really difficult and very vocabulary driven. Basically if you didn't study you're not going to do well. In my opinion I would always go to the review days because she will give EC on the test for attending those classes
She is a sweet person but the problem is that she gives a TON of information all at once and expects you to remember minor details and small points she made in class. The test are difficult because there is no consistency in what you should know or study. I have not missed a class and I take notes and the notes were no use. Attendance saves grades
The tests were RIDICULOUSLY hard! So much information is given in one class and you are expected to remember all of the small details. Attendance checking was random, but I attended every class and my highest test grade was a 77. Would not recommend this class for anyone who does not already know earth science well.
uses a lot of profanity in class often off topic loves the topic but can rarely focus class is easy if you like the topic I didn't get the book may have done better if I did
Her test aren't really that hard, you just have to stay focus and STUDY STUDY STUDY !! other than that you'll be fine.
Mary is very serious about respect, she will kick people out of class. Go to class, she gave us extra credit sometimes for showing up because a lot of people skipped. The tests are hard. Take notes, read the powerpoints, pay attention, and skim the chapters in the book.
I am not one to hate on a professor, but this one made me so upset. I cannot learn when a teacher gets off topic and starts rambling. I cant follow her when she does that. The whole class is tests which is 90% of your grade. one time she put in pictures of her dog and her husband and other family. She is a nice person but a horrible professor.
She's ok; only thing is there are only 4 tests to the whole course. she offer extra credit which can help, but if you fail the tests you're pretty much screwed.
Definitely do not recommend Hall-Brown. There are only 4 tests throughout the semester, so one failing grade and you're screwed. She is extremely off topic and I tried contacting her multiple times for help and she never had the decency to even respond. She is a nice person, but horrible professor. HIGHLY RECOMMEND AVOIDING THIS PROFESSOR
one of the nicest most understanding teachers I've ever had. I made Cs/Ds on all tests but because of SO much extra credit I'm going to get a B in the class. She knows we have other classes to worry about. She goes off topic but you can always go back and look at the textbook and slides. She also gives a lot of points for her own mistakes on tests.
Tends to get off topic quite frequently. Exams are tricky and they count for the majority of your overall grade. Some easy extra credit opportunities
Mrs. Hall-Brown is one of the best professors I have ever had. Yes, the class can be difficult at times, but you have to pay attention and come to lecture. She will always meet with you and answer any questions you may have. Highly recommend this course.
Make sure you show up to class and take notes, the exams are difficult, but the lectures are interesting and at times funny. She is very nice but will absolutely bring the hammer down on you if you act up. One of the realest professors i've had in terms of being down to earth.
90% of your grade is in the 5 tests(multiple choices) 3 test are online and 2 are not(in class open book and you can print the PowerPoints). The other 10% will be attendance using iClicker .She does give a lot of extra credits (up to 30 point). Notes are important, since she will ask question in the test like ( as we discuses in class).
Her tests are extremely hard. However, she's a great teacher! You really have to stay focused and know the material. She tends to get off topic, but she really does know what she's talking about and she's very passionate about the subject. And make sure you attend every class! 10 points will be added to your final grade, and she gives a lot of EC!
The tests are extremely hard, this is honestly the toughest class I have ever taken. However, I really enjoyed her lectures and her personality. She makes the content easy to understand and make sure to take notes!!! Don't skip class either, some of the stuff she talks about in class that are not on the PowerPoint will be on the tests.
One of my favorite professors at UNCG. You can tell she really cares about the subject material as well as her students. Her class is large, but she finds a way to make everyone feel important. She makes earth science fun and easy to understand. She is very funny and caring, but if you disrespect her time, she'll call you out and take points off.
Go to class, she gave us extra credit sometimes. The tests are hard. Take notes, attend class for lecture, pay attention, and skim the chapters in the book. And watch out for Google Earth assignments. Yes she does get distracted and goes off telling stories but she also makes sure to have gone over the material before testing.
Go to class, she gave extra credit to people who showed up. The tests are hard make sure to take notes, attend class for lecture, and look through the chapters in the book. And watch out for Google Earth assignments. Yes she does get distracted and goes off telling stories but she also makes sure to have gone over the material before testing.
she's amazing, whatever class you see her teaching take it. take it immediately
Mary is so sweet and hilarious! She really is a great professor. Attendance is necessary, as her tests include "As discussed in class..." questions. She gives tons of extra credit if you answer her questions in class and even just for showing up. The only other grades are reading quizzes for each chapter and Geotours Worksheets using Google Earth.
Shes a great person and really funny, but her tests are nothing like what she teaches. If you want an A you better study, but she gives extra credit if you answer questions and pay attention. Lectures are the main part of the class, pay attention and make study guides to help you. Make some friends so you can all study together.
Dr. Hall-Brown really is an amazing professor. She is very passionate about what she teaches and explains it on a basic level that makes it easy to understand, but her test questions are on a more advanced level . As long as you are willing to study hard, go to class, and pay close attention I recommend this class
Dr. Hall-Brown is the sweetest lady on Earth and she loves her material. But, please understand that if you are NOT a good test-taker, don't take her class. It is test-based and the test are hard (ie. no definitions). She does throw out some extra-credit for answering questions in class. The material that you have to study for the test is very long
She has to be one of the sweetest professors I have ever had along with her funny jokes. I really did have a hard time in her class but I would not say I hated it. She loves science, wants you to learn and have fun. She gives out easy extra credit but be sure to STUDY and attend class because she does say "According to lecture.." on exams.
Great Professor! Tests are hard, so make sure you have a clear understanding of the material. If you don't get it, GO SEE HER. She has office hours and is open for appointments. Overall she is an amazing lady with a passion for the material and a love for her students. The class is challenging but not impossible. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I really enjoyed this class. The tests are hard, but if you STUDY, you'll be fine. I mean STUDY, like you never have before. Dr. Hall-Brown is an amazing professor, and she really cares for all of her students, and the planet! You can learn a lot from her, I know I did!
Very passionate about what she is teaching but I personally hated the way she did. You really have to pay attention and study the book HARD. I can adapt to any teaching style and get an easy A or B in the course but this class had me stressed like I've never been. The tests are HARD this is a 100 level course but test felt like level 300 at least.
Lectures are very important. She says things in class that aren't on the powerpoints on canvas, like examples, and these are on the tests. The tests aren't straight vocab, you have to know how processes and such really work. The tests are open book if you have a textbook. She's also very nice.
You can access her powerpoints online and the information is clear. She sometimes may get off topic with a hilarious story that does relate to the subject. The exam question wording can be confusing and you lowkey have to think outside the box. Study the powerpoints. Some exams she allowed open-book, but again.... study the PowerPoints!
She is passionate about what she is teaching, but isn't the best professor. Her exams don't follow what she went over in class. She let's you use the textbook on the exams, drops your lowest test grade, gives extra credit, and curves the grades if necessary. As she has said multiple times, as long as you keep going to class you will pass.
The material was tough, but Mary made every effort to help me understand the material. The book is optional, but she lets you use them on tests. She is nice and funny. She gives a lot of extra credit. The tests are very hard, but she gives many opportunities to improve your test scores. I would definitely take her class again.
She is very passionate about science but her lectures are confusing and very hard to follow. Her test don't represent what we have learned at all. Even with open book tests, a good majority of her students still fail the test. She is funny and very sweet and a great person, but too confusing as a professor.
Great lady, terrible professor. She makes up for it by working with you closely if you ask for help, but should you have to do that? Or should an educational 100 level course be a reasonable level of difficulty?
tests are crazy hard. there is content in tests that are not explicitly taught in class. overall, she was very frustrating because this is a 100 level class and was taking up all my time and energy. she's also very touchy.
She started off by explaining that most students fail the first exam and do poorly on the rest. She also told us to get any kind of earth science or geology textbook because they all have the same information in them, which confused me... We ended up not really using them unless you wanted to use them to study or on the exams that were timed.
she is the best and amazing professor in UNCG. she is very helpful and she does her best to help you to get A in the class. there are 10 content assessments and 10 exercise assessments. just study and do your work and ask her if you get stuck she would help. she used to bring hot coffee and bagel and creamy cheese for us! and do your lab quizzes!
She is a wonderful teacher, and put a lot of effort into making the material easier to understand, especially when she found out some hadnt learned more than bits & pieces of the subject matter she was covering. She expects us to pay attention to the material, but also goes out of her way to make sure we have what we need to succeed in her class.
Attendance is not mandatory but there are iclicker questions in class. Tests are hard, and they are not open-booked. I'd strongly not recommend you take her class as a GE requirment if you are not into geology like me, you'll just ended up hate it even more.
See is very fun and interesting. Always willing to help you out on an assignment if you need help. Tests were online and open book but strategically timed so that if you look up all the answers you won't have enough time.
Professor Hall-Brown is truly an amazing teacher. She really cares about her students and regularly offers up her free time to help them prepare for upcoming exams. She genuinely tries to engage the class and does so by incorporating personal stories and funny anecdotes. She genuinely makes the most boring subjects captivating. Highly recommend!
Half online, half face-to-face class with COVID. Felt like we were tested on stuff we never learned. Overall, she's a very sweet professor who cares about you and your grade. But skip out on watching lectures or doing the MyLab assignments, you won't pass the class.
Dr. Hall-Brown is one of my favorite professors I've had at UNCG! She is really passionate about what she teaches and really cares about her students. Even though the subject matter isn't something I'm really interested in, she always made the classes fun.
Wonderful lady and i loved her passion for geology when I took this class my freshman year; however, her teaching style did not help me learn the material. Her tests were very tough and this class is the worst grade on my transcript (and I have taken Organic Chemistry).
She is super nice, and the work is not difficult at all. The textbook for the lab was expensive but has instructions so specific that even an idiot could figure it out. Class was very easy overall. She can get a little nervous while presenting the material though, and as a result tends to spend a while on each topic before moving on.
Look.. Mary seems like a nice lady. I took her class and due to covid, it's 100% online. She cancels about every other zoom session due to life issues. It is a tough time.. but when we have two sessions a week and most of the time we only have one session it gets rough. Her tests make no sense. The high grade on our last exam for our class: 83....
Mary has an awesome personality. When it comes to her class even if you take notes you won't get above an 85 on her crazy exams. The exams themselves make no sense. She cancels class all the time. It's hard to learn when we barely have a class session. She isn't too good at zoom and a 1hr and 15mins is too long. Find a different course for MAC
Mary is nice but she has some nerve to make this class as hard as it is. it is a level 100 class but it feels like a 300. The class average was a 64 on the exam! and she spent 30 mins telling us that we need to try harder. Us students are not the problem. She blames the students for not retaining tons of info from tons of sources. DoN'T DO 4 MAC
I score As in every class I take. I take notes. I study the textbook. Her tests are extremely difficult despite this being a 100 level class. She doesnt curve despite highest grade being an 83. I do not recommend her or any class she teaches. Cancelling class is far too common even though its all online.
Mary is super nice, with that being said, she should not be a teacher. Our class has an average of 68 on exams. She thinks that the students are the issue. If everyone is doing poorly it isn't the students.. its the teacher. Get ready for this class to take up 90% of your time. Feels like a 300 level course for work/stress load. tests make no sense
I cried over our last exam. The highest score for our class was an 83! she doesn't curve her tests. She cancels class all the time! I don't normally do reviews but I feel like it is necessary to warn folks. I take notes and I study. I'm an A-average student. This class is a 100 level. I shouldn't be this hard! We are listening to her blame us!
Beware of this class. Mary is super nice but that's the only positive thing I can say. She cancels class all the time. When we do have class she spends half of the time ranting about off-topic things making the lectures very hard to follow. This is a 100 level class... the class average was a 65! on tests and she told the class it was our fault! :/
Mary is great. You wont retain any information from lectures and her tests are crazy hard. I dont think this class is anywhere near the 100 level work load. She cancels zooms all the time. And when we have sessions she spends half the time fixing technology or ranting about something else off topic. Just choose something less to get the credit
I have a 4.0 and all A's. I cried over these exams. I wrote down every word of her lectures/powerpoints and still failed every exam. Our class average on one exam was a 60, highest grade was a 83. Impossible. I love her to death but her class should be a 400 class with how hard it is. Don't take this for MAC, please choose something else!!!!
Dr Brown is very nice but the lectures and material do not correlate well with the exams. I studied so hard and rewatched the lectures and still did poorly
If I knew Dr. Mary outside of the classroom, we would probably be BFFs. But I wouldn't take another class from her. The lectures do not align with the exams. This makes the exams really difficult. We have also missed class a lot this semester (no fault of Dr. Mary). I feel that the exams should've been redone to align with the loss of class.
Dr. Mary Hall-Brown is a wonderful person to work with, she was very helpful both inside and outside of the classroom. Her, like most of us, struggled with COVID and issues that were caused by it, but she was able to work through them and help her students succeed in her class. Some of the work felt a little out of place from what was taught in class
Sometimes you don't even need to attend the class, as long as you go through the PowerPoint. The assignments are really easy because the questions are straight from the online course and the exams are not too bad. Their personality is amazing though, she was in the military and fosters lots of dogs.
Mary Hall-Brown is a nice person just not a great professor. She is sweet and kind but doesn't teach well when it comes to her content. She often goes on tangents and talks in circles making it hard to keep up.
Do not take this class as a college requirement. Find another class! This is dificult for no reason.
She is incredibly nice and lovable. The tests are hard, you need to pay attention to the lecture in order to pass, but she gives flexibility and fair judgment of questions the whole class missed or mostly missed. Just don't rely on that to save your grade. Overall, just show up and study and you'll do okay.
Dr. Hall-Brown was very funny and tried to be as helpful as she could for this Geo lab, but there was miscommunication and misunderstanding of the lab sometimes - partly b/c Dr. Royall taught the main lecture, and decided what the lab was, but didn't teach the actual lab :/
She was an amazing teacher. She was funny too she said attendance mattered but then didn't care at the end of the semester.
Took this class during the summer, and the work was straightforward. She lets you use the textbook and power points on exams. Some of the questions were tricky, but she went back and gave credit for the ones with "bad wording". She also would post nice messages or warnings about the weather that tied into the material we learned.
I LOVE PROFESSOR BROWN. I AM A PROFESSOR BROWN STAN.
GEO 111L - this class was a nightmare. She was never prepared for class. She did not know the material at all. I would ask a question and she would walk away because she did not know the answers. Consistently got the math wrong. SO unorganized.
Professor Hall-Brown was amazing! She genuinely cares about her students, and wants us to succeed. Attendance is mandatory because she mentions stuff in class that is on the exams. The first two exams were difficult and brought my grade down, but then they got easier and she offered extra credit. She is a truly wonderful person and professor!
Professor Hall-Brown is passionate and engaging. Attendance is a must to ace the exams, but with the textbook and slides, the course is manageable. Try unstuck ai - it helped me supplement my study prep alongside other resources.
