She makes sociology so interesting that I want to come back after break. She lectures the first half of class and then after the break she does something fun to help us understand concepts. I highly recommend her, she is also very down to earth.

Dr Cravens was a very good teacher you will learn alot in this class. It wasy very interesting. She was very fair. The most difficult part of the class was the research paper.

Professor Cravens is a great teacher, I would recommend her to anyone. Her class was the most interesting class I have taken. I actually liked doing the homework and going to class. It was one of the few classes that I wanted to go to and was upset if I had to miss for whatever reason. Her class was fun and I learned a lot!

I LOVED this class that was led by Prof. Cravens. She is an excellent instructor. I would recommend her to anyone who is interested in Sociology or who have to take the class for a degree requirement. If you read the text, study your notes (in which she gives excellent info on) and attend class regularly, you should have no problem passing..Bravo

Prof. Cravens is one of the best teachers I've had at COD so far...she makes the class a lot of fun. To be honest...I wasn't even really sure what sociology was before I took her class, but she got me hooked really quick. You have to do A LOT of reading, but I thought the text was an easy read. She also shows a lot of interesting videos.

Hands out extra credit like candy. The class was very interesting. 5 tests, 1 paper. Tests are cake-walk if you just read from the book. The concepts are all easy to understand. Cravens is great with helping those who do not understand concepts as easily as others. Always drops hints. Shows movies, all of which are also interesting. Take this class

She is my favorite professor. she is kinda hard and expects a lot from you. but the tests are right out of the book. so just read it. most quizes are for practice and dont count or are extra credit. 5 test, 2 papers, 1 final. she is amazing at teaching and knows what shes talking about, her class adn the way you think about life changed mine!!!

She expects a lot from you as in reading and discussions, and you take a lot of notes... but there really isn't that much homework. There usually is a big report at the end about Resource Wars which is hard.. but it is a great class. she has a way to opening up your eyes

She is an organized, clear and coherent teacher. She expects the book to be read and if you are unclear of terms then she explains them amazingly. Test content is logical but you must attend class because she connects the book terms to class content. She taught me sociology, but she changed the way I view the world.

At the beginning of the class I was a little worried, but now - I absolutely loved her! She is very understanding and tries to be as helpful as possible, always letting you know that she is available to help if you need her. My suggestion - keep her in the know and never be afraid to ask for something-even if you think the answer is no.

A very competent teacher. She is very meticulous in her expectations of the student, and the workload is extensive. I would recommend this professor only for students who can afford and commit an ample amount of time to completing assignments

She was really nice and the class was interesting. The only thing bad was.. SO MUCH WORK! If you have a heavy classload don't take this class. It takes a lot of time.

If ur planning on taking the online version of the course please beware the workload is immense like most online classes. Reading the txtbook is VITAL to your success in this course. Prof Cravens is incredibly helpful & very thorough about her expectations. Fast grader, wonderful teacher overall if ur willing to work hard. Very educational course

WONDERFUL teacher. I thought she explained sociology so well that she brought the subject to our front door. We were hands on. There are quite a few assignments, but they are easy. Study the book for the tests. She deserves a Hot Tamale, but if I gave her one -it would show I learned nothing in the class! Take this class!

She is an awesome teacher. I had her years ago and I have to attribute her for introducing me to Sociology. Her passion and enthusiasm sparked an interest in Sociology which has changed my career and academic plans. I am currently pursuing a graduate degree in Sociology. She is the best teacher I have ever had, hands down.

If you want to take a course and actually get something out of it, take her class. Cravens is an excellent professor and her class seems boring at first, but it gets way more interesting towards the end of the semester. You wont regret taking her class. The pepper still applies, she is a cougar.

This teacher is AMAZING! She is very passionate about her subject and it shows! Attendance does matter, but you seriously would not want to miss her class. She makes it fun and interesting. You do not NEED the book but it does help your grade.

Good attendance is a must, like most quality classes, and the content is easy enough for an A even if you put in minimal amount of effort. She played a large role in why I changed my major to soc!

LOVE LOVE LOVE THE CRAVESTER! She loves sociology. Especially the Gender, Sex and Power class. She makes lessons really fun and has a lot of variety in lessons. I usually don't talk in classes but she instigates a lot of class unity and discussion. And she makes really good cupcakes and brings snacks. My favorite professor so far.

Honestly fantastic. I was interested in Sociology before this, but not overly so, and I took her Sex Gender & Power course and she is nothing but willing to help and understanding. It really seemed to matter to her that you learned something and it gave me words for feelings that I've had since about twelve years old. Great class, awesome woman.

Very easy and quite interesting. She makes class very fun by dividing the class as girls v boys and making everyone realize how we're actually treated in society. Test are easy and homework doesn't take long at all. Would definitely recommend.

Dr Cravens is a great professor. She knows her material and is enthusiastic about it. She’s very helpful. Everything you need to know as far as due dates is in the syllabus. She’s quick on email. I very much enjoyed this class and strongly encourage everyone to take it. Attendance is mandatory. The chili pepper is still accurate.

Wow, what a great teacher! She makes the classroom so fun to be in, our class was like a big family by the end of the semester. Fairly easy material; not many graded assignments but it's not hard to do well on them. She wants you to read the book but you can get by without it. Most days are just fun group activities though. HIGHLY recommended!

Sex, gender, & power is a really fun class. I feel like she could cover more hard-hitting topics because she makes her class very engaging & comfortable, but I really enjoyed it all the same. If you're at COD definitely take this class, you will be a better person for it!

If you're taking SOC 1100, then take Dr. Cravens, She's the best! Her class is so easy! There are 6 tests and she lets you have a sheet of paper, both sides filled for all tests. Only the first test is individual and the rest are in groups. And the final is in groups too! She gives you 3 mini papers which are super easy! Need the book. I LOVE DR.C!

This class changed my life. Dr. Cravens is fantastic, and she truly cares. Be prepared to do quite a bit of writing, but it's all worth it. The one book that was required was interesting and pretty cheap

This was one of my all time favorite courses. I would recommend this course to everybody. The course is mostly discussions and activities. There are a few papers and a midterm and final. If you are looking for an enjoyable class that also meets gen ed requirements this is the class to take. You will not regret taking this class with her.

She seems very nice, but her online class has a lot of extra work I don't really see necessary. However, I do recommend her, just know she gives a lot of work. A couple of essays per unit, workbook activities,and active learning assignments. Not hard, just busy work.

Great teacher I took her last semester and she really has a passion for what she does. Youre very active in the class a lot of group work. Very interesting class you learn a lot. My class was 50 minutes not to bad y have 4 projects (active learning she likes to call it) they are not hard but you must do the work kind of a tough grader.#greatteacher

If you like to work in groups take her! all her test and the final are taken in groups which is AWESOME! Dr. Cravens is a pretty chill person and she gives some awesome alternative assignments for holidays and stuff (I took her during the fall). Participation is important so get ready to talk but the discussions are so fun anyway!

Took this class online. Quizzes are timed and you can't change your answer. Kind of a good thing so you can't second guess your choice. A lot of busy work, but worth it in the end to do it.

Cravens is life! She has a clear syllabus of what to expect for the semester. Almost all of what goes on in the class from small participation assignments to the test & final are all in groups. She even lets you bring in a cheat sheet. All of her lectures were very interesting, plus no powerpoints which was great. Very easy grader and instructor.

Dr. Cravens is a great professor however, she is often late and is not always available to meet outside of class. The assignments were pretty easy and the tests were not too difficult.

This is my second class I took with Cravens and she's very helpful with information. There is only a midterm and a final. The class is very interesting and deals with every day life material. She's an awesome teacher and very laid back. Lectures aren't bad at all. If you plan on taking this class I highly recommend taking her. Great teacher.

Dr. Cravens offered up the best class I have ever taken at COD. Thought provoking, engaging, and riveting. Her passion for sociology is unending and it really shows through her lectures and activities. I would say, however, that the class does have somewhat of a learning curve. You really have to put the work in, but it's worth it.

She is super funny, smart, and a great teacher. The only problem I had was that if you don't fully understand what she's teaching, you seriously will never get it.

I love Cravens, She is a very good professor and I love her teaching style. She is a very hands on teacher, so expect a lot of projects. If you want to pass this class you have to attend. For big test like finals or mid terms she does not give study guides (if you are in her 1120 class) so you will be expected to know the material. Great professor!

Doctor Cravens is great! She tried to make class fun and enjoyable, and she cares about all her students. One thing to note is she is a VERY tough grader. Probably the hardest I've had but she gives you advice on how to improve!

Keeps class super interesting. Pretty tough grader but always gives feedback on how to improve. Assigned readings but it wasn't really checked and only a few question on it on the midterm and final. Overall it was a very interesting class.

I love Doc Cravens so much. She was one of those teachers who made a lasting impression on me! She's so passionate about Sociology and that's totally evident in her lectures. Took her Sex, Gender & Power class and it was an amazing class. Attendance is not mandatory but if you miss too many classes it will hurt you. The class is largely discussion based and participation matters (huge part of final grade). Tough grader but if you put in the work and actually try you can get the grade you want.

Dr. Cravens is an outstanding professor. Shes personable, respectful, caring, and the course material is engaging and highly applicable to your life. Dr. C also has a great sense of humor and makes every student feel known and respected, which is rare to find in a professor. The workload is what is to be expected for a typical college course.

Dr. Cravens is a wonderful, kind, and silly instructor. I took Sex Gender and Power with her on the recommendation of some friends. She does a great job of breaking down the sociology of gender, and explaining the power imbalances in a way that's understandable and accessible to everyone. There are some projects, but they are easy. One of my faves.

She is one of the most caring and genuine professors that I have had and makes her lectures and classes interesting and engaging. I would take Dr. C again in a heartbeat. Her class is so fun and she is an amazing professor. She gave us her google voice cell phone number so we didn't have to email and she always responded right away. Always graded assignments in a timely matter and gave good feedback. She tells you exactly what is expected and has a clear layout for due dates.

I absolutely ADORE this professor! She is so kind and you can tell that she genuinely cares about her students success. There are tons of group activitys that help you really delve in and understand the material. She sets clear grading criteria and is super accessible outside of class. 100% would take again!

So fun & caring. No phone policy in class but you can leave to use it anytime. Definitely aids in making real friends in class. 3 (easy) big projects & a final project which is so fun. Going to class is enough knowledge to ace the final, no outside work needed. She literally gave us a day in class to just talk about our life problems together.

Loved this course with Dr. C so much. There was never any official homework, just an episode of a podcast per week (really engaging!). I would definitely recommend her as a prof, easy to talk to! Tests are not hard as long as you show up to class. Everything that is on the test will be covered in class through activities, so don't miss out on it!

All she reflects is positive energy and upon her entering the room, it lights up. Class is super fun and engaging, all her tests are open note, and she offers extra credit.

I had Cravens for NET Socio and she is AMAZING. Always responds to emails, always has useful feedback, extremely kind. The class was not too difficult is was pretty much 100% self paced. She assigned "x" amount of things, to be done by "x" date- All assignments with a 2 day grace period. Actually. I highly, highly recommend her to any and everyone!

Everything is clearly laid out and easy to follow. You get to watch movies and write short papers for the assignments. Professor Cravens is super laid back. Quizzes and tests are open book. Easy A as long as you can read and have a good attitude!

Professor cravens was the best professor iv ever had.I took her this semester fo sociology hybrid and it was the best class. She lays out everything well on blackboard and it's mostly group work in class and barely any outside homework except for the 1 page mini essays. She is very reachable tousled of class and responds to emails pretty fast.

This class is an easy A! Not showing up to class will affect your grade, so make sure to always send an email when you're missing so you're marked excused. She has super fun lectures and I was always excited to show up to class. Every test is online, a lot of time to finish, and take the final exam online. Funny and connects with students

At first, I was afraid of all the work I saw on the syllabus, but it turned into my favorite class. The textbook was free and, for the most part, easy to read. The most challenging assignments were the "sci-fi and me essays." It was more of a pain, but she gave good feedback. This class was not only interesting, but I also learned a lot from it.

She is the sweetest and really cares for her students. For the midterm and final, you get to work in groups/partners or individually. The midterm and final are also open-book.

I loved this class and appreciated that Dr. Cravens had very few due dates; it really takes a load off if you have other classes with weekly assignments. Free textbook and tests were open notes. She always gives helpful feedback and responds to emails with positive energy. TAKE HER CLASS!!

Dr C is awesome! If you're not a fan of participation she isn't for you, but there was very little work outside class to worry about. She is so passionate about sociology and the classroom environment is so casual and friendly. I couldn't recommend her enough. Show up to class, participate in discussions, and you should pass without any issue.

My favorite class ever including the professor, she is the sweetest teacher. I loved her lectures, I wish her class was longer than 50 minutes. It is a no-phone policy but you can step out whenever you need to use your phone, but honestly, you get so into the lecture you forget about it. 10/10 recommend and the coursework isnt even heavy.

100/10. highly recommend. easy assignments and have weeks to complete them. she leaves feedback on your assignments. never got less than a B on any assignments. easy and educational. rlly engaging topics and concepts. she gives two-day extensions on ALL assignments and extra credit. there is seriously no way you cannot ace this class. This is by far one of the easiest and most fun class I coudlve taken. This professor is very understanding, she treats every student with care and knows exactly what she is doing. She uses sociology concepts in class and engages with the class a lot, I love it. I wish she taught other subjects because I want a class as easy as that again.

Super engaging professor. Not a lot of grades in the grade book and the assignments require a lot of thought, but if you put effort into the few assignments there are you'll do fine. Finals are online and allowed to work with classmates. She uses a textbook but its free!! Super understanding of absences. Has a phone policy, but it's reasonable.

She was a very great and open minded person, very easy going, wanted you too actually learn even if you weren't even interested in sociology and made it fun. She also broke alot of concepts down and she was literally the least judgmental teacher I ever had in my life. I would definitely recommend her.

Amazing Professor. Incredibly caring and made everyone want to show up. The final + midterm is open note + collaborative. She is so understanding and never judgmental of students' situations. Between her as a teacher & the majority of the class being queer, this was the only class where I felt like you could actually talk to and meet people.

Love Dr. Cravens, I took her for Intro to Sociology and absolutely loved her. A lot of classes are lecture-heavy but this class is group-work oriented, so if that's your thing I recommend her. There is some homework but overall it's pretty easy if you keep up! The exams are all online and taken on your own time. LOVE HER!

Amazing professor! Genuinely a joy to be in her class. Interesting material and lectures are never boring, easy to keep up with the work load. Insightful, open minded and actually cares about students.

Amazing professor! The class is mainly group based, so participation&attendance is important! Her teaching style is fun and you grow to love sociology! The assignments require a decent amount of writing, she grades somewhat accurately and doesn't allow late work but she offers tons of extra credit throughout the semester.

Professor Cravens' class has a reasonable workload. The free textbook and open-note exams make it manageable. unstuck study was a helpful study tool alongside the course materials. Overall, an interesting class worth taking.

She is super sweet, If you have to miss class she will shoot you an email explaining everything you missed. She likes to put us in groups but every assignment is fairly easy. Dr. Cravens is really respectful of your mental wellbeing so if you miss class she understands. Just make sure that it's not everyday and your participation is encouraged.

Cravens class is really easy as there is barely any work to do for the course. The lectures mostly just consisted of discussions about the Motive Podcast that the whole course is based on basically, and while it is interesting, I believe it drags a bit too much. Still it's an easy A if you need one as long as you show up as attendance is graded.

Dr. Cravens class was by far my favorite of this semester! Course Content was incredibly interesting and Dr. C made sure we were engaged. We do a lot of group activities and discussions, so be prepared to talk to each other. We also have a large presentation for class but she gives you the option to do a video. I highly suggest this course!!!

amazing professor. very easy grader and wants you to understand the material more than try to get a good grade. discussons in the class were my favorite part and she explains things very well. only thing she really grades on is attendance so be prepared to come to class. has very little outside classwork. book is free on BB. one of the best classes

Every point counts in this class. Tests are easy, but make sure to read the questions very thoroughly. Cravens is very passionate about this topic and will make sure that by the end of the class that you are knowledgeable in the topics discussed. This class's structure has been used for years, and it works. Be mindful of the phone policy as well.

Professor was enthusiastic with her lectures and assignments were easy. Participation makes the class more fun and she makes sure you get to know everyone in class with mini group assignments which is fun and engaging.
