Very friendly, helpful teacher. Teaching methods are very appropriate and you'll undestand the class.
she is great.
Overall ok teacher. She explains too fast so you have to read the examples in the book. Ok grader. Homework is extra credit. Must study and do the homework to try and pass the class
Read the book - it really helps.

This teacher is insane. She explains stuff like all the students in the class have a Masters in math. Goes VERY fast. Tests are on the hardest topics of the section. I only passed this class (B) with help from another teacher. TAKE PRECALC WITH MR SEIVER AT THE SAME TIME IT WILL HELP TREMENDOUSLY
this teacher is a good reader . she knows how to read in the book and that is how she explains . to be lucky and pass her class , either you should be good at math and reviewing the stuff again or you will have to study on your own . good luck by the way i worked sp hard on my finalsand got a b
very unclear
she reads from book, teaches like we're professionals, isn't even sure if her answers are right. half the class is failing. Do not take her.unless your good at math by yourself.
She teaches as if you are a math wiz. She sucks. She needs to speak better english before allowed to teach math.
She expects everyone to know the material before we've been introduced to it. Focuses on the lone brown noser and spends as little time possible on making new material understandable. I'd easily be passing class in my corner if not for the poor instruction. Avoid Mary Hito if possible.
This is not an easy subject. She tries to help you. However, you will need to keep up with the program. She will not spend a lot of time in the section. Practice makes perfect so you need to do homework. You cannot expect to do well if you don't do homework and ask questions
OK, she's from Peru. English is not her first language. But she's really good at explaining things and helping you out *if* you make the effort to understand her. Again, the Educo software/text was a big minus in this class and I understand this will change. She helped me through a very difficult subject and was very supportive. Give her a chance!
had her for a short winter session, and she was able to pull off a class of this magnitude. learned a ton. kinda cute too
This class is difficult, even for those that are interested in the material (as i was). There were only 2 tests and a final -all blue books- and you MUST put out-of-school time in to this class to get a good grade. BOTTOM LINE: If you have no interest, don't bother enrolling.
Bad teacher. Not helpfull at all. Very moody all the time. Doesn't know math. Bad grading. She gives grades to the people who she likes. If she doesn't like you, BE CAREFULL! SHE WILL DO ANYTHING TO SUCK YOUR GRADE.
*gag*
knows the material, but goes way too fast. do all the homework test are similar.
She defeats the purpose of teaching and is MOODY and not as good as the late Milan G. Moody. She act as if people should know the subject before she gives a lesson.
I'm in her class right now and I feel like walking out every day, she sucks, she is horrible at teaching, I love math but I'm starting to hate it because of her, I have never seen such a bad teacher in my entire life
The whole class is pretty much failing...she goes sooo fast and doesn't allow us to understand the information before moving on. She reads out straight from the book and does like 3 sections a day without people knowing wtf she is doing! the class was full in the beginning..and now the class is less than half full...i think that says something...

Goes too fast for everyone and is unfair in her grading.
I like her. Most people expect to come to math class and learn whatever they need in class to get an A on the test. Like with any class, you need to READ THE BOOK and ACTUALLY COME TO CLASS. If you go ask her for help, she will explain it to you step by step. We just don't have enough time to go over everything like that.
shows up 15 to 20 min late every day....1st 2 weeks let class out 1 1/2 hrs early now she's teaching lessons in 10 min. she has a great personality but i'm paying for her to be on time. most students are getting a poor grade.doesn't show step by step work and recommended we sign up to take 115 again w/ her over spring 2 days before midterm
Man!!! is our first week of class and we have all ready cover a complete chapter in (4 days)...she expects us to know this... I like math but man I am starting to hate it...
um...probably extremely intelligent but not a good teacher. She doesn't inspire or make people understand.

TESTS ARE HARD BUT IF YOU GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS SHE WILL HELP YOU. NOT VERY CLEAR IN CLASS BUT SHE'S A GREAT PERSON. IT IS HARD TO DISLIKE HER EVEN WHEN SHE GAVE ME A C BE PREPARED TO LIVE IN MATH LAB
Nice person, but does not explain things well and moves quickly. Not a class for the person who is bad at math like me.
I really like her. She is kind of tough but if you go to class and use your book then it's positive reinforcement all the way. I definitely think she can be a little unfair but she makes up for it. Quizzes are open book and they can help your grade. I would take her again for anything. Like her style.
Moves very fast in class but will stop and explain if asked. Very good about allowing exam retakes if needed. Weekly open book quizes help grades a lot.
Bad teacher. She is unorganized and cannot explain concepts well. Does not give any guidance for exams, her philosophy is "everything". She seems nice and helpful, but then she is so brutal when giving out grades. would not recommend her if you want to get a good math grade. We had 8 people left in the class by the end of the semester.
This professor is a sweet heart, but she is a terrible teacher...I would never recommend anyone take her class.
She doesn't collect homework and gives easy exams. Just study enough and her class is a breeze
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! She speeds through the material w/o caring whether or not students are following her, nobody can hear what she says.
worste math teacher i've ever had.Does not explain the material.Teaches as if the class should already know the material.Talks very low.HW not mandatory
HORRIBLE TEACHER PLEASE DONN'T TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES.
A wonderful teacher, ask her questions during the test and she helps you out!!
Extremely difficult to understand what she is saying and probably the worst math professor i've ever had.
i took a five week elementary algebra class she taught and she's an excellent teacher. she didnt just tell you how to do something, she would explain it so to show you how it makes sense. she also would take time to help the students one on one in class. i hope to have her again.
dont take her for math 120, dont do ittt, becuase all she did was read from the book, and thats all she had time for. if the class does not undertsand, she does not care she will keep on going, there was 28 people in my class, then only 13 passed, i was lucky. a lot of proves a lottt. tests are very hard too. no grade curves, only 1 point for EC.
She doesn't explain anything.Don't take her because there are lots of better Math teachers in the college.
Talks really soft, you can't hear her in the back of the wroom. Messy handwriting on the board. The content of what she says and writes is also lacking in quality and not well explained. It's hard to learn anything from her. Her tests are easy and she doesn't collect homework, so if you just learn from the book she's all right. Otherwise I'd drop.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had!! Her test do not compare to anything previously presented in class. The students at the math lab even have a hard time understand test questions. The tutors have said that she should not be giving questions that are not at math 260 level (much higher). She doesn't like helping her students. Don't take her!!
Awesome professor, but if you don't need math don't take her. She is really good at testing skills.
Absolutely disastrous. I took math 260 with her and had to learn all the stuff from the book and by myself. She doesn't explain well, she's absent for weeks and her tests are just plain hard as if she was malevously trying to make you fail. Save your sanity and stay away from this class.
i honestly do not understand this woman. she is extrmely hard. the problems on the tests are nearly inpossible. she flies through chapters in a matter of minutes. her lectures are horrible and she misses class alot. im a hard worker that HAD a 4.0. but her class skrewed my gpa
ok seriously shes really nice and people always think the ones who left bad comments are just bad students. no i literally went in everyday went to the math lab did the homework and classwork and still got a D shes a very smart lady who knows her stuff but that doesnt help when shes teaching it like you should already know this stuff .
Ms. Hito rules! she is a fantastic teacher --- really cares that her students understand what she is teaching. I took her during a short winter session and the class was tough because it was 5 weeks but she really made it fun. if u do ur homework, classwork and study u will get a good great. I cant wait to take her for my next math class.
Ms.Hito is extremely intelligent and a great teacher. She will challenge you and teaches in a way that demands you to do your homework. Study, ask questions and you will get a good grade. She is fair and wants you to learn.
I got a D in her class and I took Math 115 again with a different teacher and Got an A. Mrs.Hito's class was way harder than another teacher.
SHE IS AWESOMMMEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Very sweet and always willing to help.Your final grade is based upon the grades that you get on your tests. There is no homework. She teaches the class as though you should already know this stuff. I failed her class, took it again with a different professor and passed. Her class wasn't all that great, but she is an awesome professor.
Hito isn't the best math instructor iv'e had, but she gets the job done. If I get a low grade, its because of me not her.
NEVER TAKE HER, SHE IS JUST HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn. Ms. Hito's class sucks. She does not teach well, she just teaches from the book your given thats all. and expects and demands alot from everybody. Its hard to understand how she does it but she figures ways of making simple math concepts insufferably difficult. a very tricky teacher i must say.
Expect to work harder than ever before for a class or expect a bad grade and a drop in your gpa
She's a very sweet woman and tries to teach, but honestly isn't clear and is very fast. She rushes through the book and all the while the class is watching clueless.
DO NOT TAKE EXAMS ARE HARD AND SHE DOES NOT!!! GO OVER THE STUDY GUIDE TOGETHER IN CLASS >.> & THE STUDY HAS NUTHING TO DO WITH HER EXAMS
Study Guide has nuthing to do with exams. She speeds through the book. this class is ALL SELF-STUDY and math lab. If you suck in math try to find a better teach.
she teaches too fast. she explains only to herself.
This teacher is so hard! She speeds through the lessons without even a moment to breathe. The first test (which was supposed to be "review"), only 4 people passed. That just tells you how bad her teaching really is.
Lectures are useless. If you are good at studying on your own then this class is for you. Although, she will try to help you during her office hours.
Don't take her class! But if you have to -find a tutor because you will not gain knowledge to pass a test.
I was the most miserable in this class. It was such a difficult math experience for me. She's more serious than anything, and there isn't any sympathy. I tried so hard and spent my entire life on it, but yet it wasn't possible. You really have to know your math to get by with this class. But goodluck if you really have to take her.
Do the work, pay attention, show up and you'll be fine. Always ask questions. I'm not good at math and I got a B in her class.
if u are in college to study you will surely like her class, but if you are in college to waste your time forget it. MR
i took in winter 12, if u r good studying in your own, dont worry you can succeed in this class, but if is not, do not take her, this professor is a very good teacher but is strict when she is grading, ex. on area (triangle, sq etc) if you put the right answers but you forgot to put sq she take out points from your grade, just think if u r ready..
I have to re take the same class again, and I can't believe it was so difficult when i took it with her. Same exact thing. I read the whole book two times for ea test for her class, and still failed. Practice sheets before tests and what she teaches will not show up on the test. She makes everything unbelievably stressful.
Ms. Hito is a nice teacher. It is my second math class with her. If u get 89 poitns on the test she would not give u an A. I think it's fair. The material is hard and I use to go to her office almost everyday. Ask her to explain problems simply. She would work with u until u get it. She is friendly and ever got mad for asking the same question.
I think she's great. You can not be lazy in this class or you will fail. Be prepared to work. But she is brilliant and willing to help if you ask for it.
Nice teacher and sweet person! You can correct your tests, get extra credits, final was not hard.Don't be lazy and you'll get an A.
I used to love Math before I took her class. She's very quick with her lectures and very rarely pauses to explain things more clearly. It's very difficult to understand her, but she does give extra points on exams if you turn in all the homework. The final was very difficult. It takes a lot of hard work and self-discipline to pass this class.
If you study very, very hard you can pass the class. Unfortunately, she makes the class much more difficult than it needs it to be. Her exams are always much tougher than her example problems. If you desperately need this class take her, but be prepared to work very, very hard. Avoid her if possible
Very sweet and willing to help!! TAKE HER IF YOU HAVE A GOOD BASE IN MATH
Completely self Motivating Teacher. Motivates you to learn material yourself.
She Failed me :( Her test are hard as if she was trying to make you fail. Right now I know all the material. it was just her test and final. Never take this teacher for no classes
If you are a genius at the math subject, you can take this class and never come except on test days. Her review will not help you. Do not be fooled by high scores on the first test. Do not expect bonus or extra credit. I would not recommend this class even if you really need this class, unless this is only class you will enroll in.
I used to think if u try u can pass. This class is only for the strong minded and motivated. If you could pass PreCalc with hito. You can pass any other Calculus class, Linear Algebra, or Differentials. The class is all self study, the homework is a ton, and the tests haha their Difficult. Very Difficult. The Final was impossible. Good Luck.
I took this class in my 1st semester & was skeptical at first cuz of the bad ratings. She is def hard and talks pretty fast, but she is always willing to help u during office hours.I passed with an A but that's only because I actually tried. This class is not for slackers! No E.C & ton of H.W. also learn to take notes fast.NOT as brutal as claimed
Prof. Hito is very unclear at times. She teaches her own way instead of the book, which is very misleading, especially to someone who relies on teacher instruction. but the thing that I couldn't deal with was that she faced the board during lectures. I would always find my attention drifting. I used to be good at math but now I can't stand it.
unclear, hard tests, fail of a teacher, im good at math and have a 3.8gpa...i mean HAD a 3.8 gpa. save your energy and do not take her
I agree she gives alot of hw but its not mandatory, its extra credit, plus what good is math ifyou dont practice, Shes not clear mostly but shes helpful go to her office shell teach you until you understand, I passed Math125 and Math120 i took both with her and passed with an A even though i was weak in geometry! this is college not an easy A class
DO NOT TAKE HER. try your very best to not get her as a professor…. very difficult class. moves very very fast through the sections, and is quite confusing
Overall great professor. She does move pretty fast over the material. Always ask questions because she will stop and clarify things. Do your part and study!!!!!!!!!!! she has office hours for additional help.
Terrible teacher. Often miscalculates on the board, constantly forgets to assign the homework (not that it counts for anything anyway), and moves entirely too quick. I wouldn't suggest taking her at all.
Like most of the professors at valley this one is false to not only do they doubt but they lie.
Stay away! I don't know how people loved her even taking her for higher level classes. Confusing lectures, homework doesn't count, and tests are full of tricks. She's the kinda of professor that sets you up to fail. Honestly, it's difficult to admit this because I "thought" I was good at math until I had to teach myself Trig in five weeks. Avoid!!!
no homework so your grade is based only on your tests. she explains 3 or 4 sections a day and does not go over them.
She's a good teacher, you just need an extra effort to practice on your own but if you really don't get it go to her office hours. She will gave time for you to understand before the exam.
Professor Hito is a great teacher in my opinion. I won't argue with the fact that her class is tough but if you work hard enough you should pass her class. She posts sample tests for the upcoming exams which are helpful. The lectures are straight forward. She also has office hours so you can go to her and ask for help on what you don't get.
I took her course for winter semester, it was tough, we did at least 2 units per day. Your grade is based on tests.
Great professor! Really well organized! Patient, nice, and she'll move heaven and earth to make sure you have enough time for your test. She lets you correct your test for extra credit, which is amazing. Trig can be hard, but she makes it way better than it could be. Puts all notes online for you to use, including reviews and practice tests.
VEEEEEEERY GOOD teacher, I like her
Hito is a cool teacher. She is very kind, and helpful, but i am terrible in math, and i do understand math, but her concepts kinda take it the long way. she teaches basic skills in a more longer way than usual, which confuses me sometimes. i dont attend class often, which is OK because she posts all lecture notes. I would take again. Recommended!
She is a very nice woman. However, her method of teaching is very unclear. She does not explain concepts. She gives examples and expects you to understand. She will go on and on with an example then say "Ok next problem" and continue this like a record player. She has a tutor that helps after class twice a week who was a much better teacher.
This is a class where you have to do the work. Professor Hito is nice and gives you plenty of opportunity to ask for help. If you don't understand something, or are having trouble, she always finds a way to work with you. Don't take this class if you're looking for an easy A. Study hard and pass the tests, that's what counts in her class.
I just don't understand why Prof. Hito's rating here is so low. SHE IS AWESOME! I loved every lecture! She lets you work on your mistakes after every test, and before each test she provides samples to prepare at home. She gives a lot of extra credit. Just don't be lazy and work hard, that's all! I added her again for my next Math class! Can't wait!
TRIG. I took Prof. Hito during Winter semester. She didn't show up for the first day of class and was late every morning after that. She didn't explain concepts. Instead, she just plucks problems from the book and solves them on the screen. "Okay, next question..." was all i heard every day.
Passing was a challenge but she's great and will help you with all your math problems. Just go to her office hours and do your homework. She's the best at making math, simple to understand!
Professor Hito is great! I really enjoy her class although it can be tough. She has us do every other odd for the homework for each section, which she does not check. But I recommend you do the sections you do not understand so well. There are only a few exams, but if you dont do well she allows you to do corrections for credit.
I'm usually really strong in math but this class made me doubt myself. Your grade is based on 3 exams and the final which can be good and bad. If you do bad on a test, there is no way to get extra points to help you out. Professor is very understanding but does not explain the subject very well in my opinion. I was really unmotivated to go to class
A very correct teacher.
Prof. Hito tries her best to help you succeed. Make sure you do your work and ask questions during the lecture, she will try to clarify whatever you don't get. Accessible outside of class and gives extra credit if you are in between grades.
Professor Hito is an amazing teacher and if you are able to go to class and understand the material you will do good. Don't take a hybrid class if possible. It has nothing to do with her, but the way that hybrid classes work, you are left to learn on your own for large parts of it.
I dont know why people give Hito negative ratings! I am currently in her math class and shes awesome. Clear lectures in class and online, she posts her lectures online if you dont show up. She lets you correct your wrong answers for credit. Extends homework date. Honestly shes the best math teacher ive taken so far.
i am currently taking her. shes seriously a gem. reviews sections in class and gives us problems to work on which she helps us on. lets us correct our test answers for a better grade. she extends our homework dates if were not able to do it. what more can you want? take her forsure.
This is the 2nd time im taking her. My main reason for retaking Hito is because she lets us correct our tests for a better grade. This is a hybrid class; with lecture in class and recorded online for us to watch. She is very sweet and caring, and always extends homework dates. Take her for sure!
She is the best professor that I know, really clever and grades just math knowledges. I am an ESL student and she explained for me as clear as possible.
Ms hito is very nice however i was a couple percents away from a "C" and she did not let me do any assignment or extra credit to get the C. I worked really hard this semester and it all went to waste
Professor Hito, seems to be a great professor. She very patient, and moves at a very good pace to keep up with. I am currently in bus. cal. with her being a replacement to the original professor for this course. But thank god she is the professor now.
Worst prof out of every subject and professors Ive had. She DOES NOT explain calculus. She talks and solves probs by herself on her note that she projects on the board, as if you already know it ALL. Does not give u points for hw. Your grade s based on 3 exams and a final. Good luck.
Good teacher, I learned a lot.
Excellent professor. Explains questions, sometimes not so great. If your not good at math make sure to take Math 115 in summer or winter, it will make Math 125 much much easier. Homework only 5%, 5% online tutorial time, quiz only 10%, Final 30%, four exams at 50%.
3 exams worth 60% - final worth 40%. A section a day, assigns homework for every section but never collects/reviews. She does problems during class but constantly makes mistakes and doesn't explain the problem, she just solves it. Marks you wrong on exams if you did it another method even if you got the answer right. DO NOT TAKE. AWFUL PROFESSOR.
If you struggle with math, this class will be challenging for you. If you have a solid background in calculus, then this class will be a breeze. Your grade is based on 3 midterms and 1 final. She gives a practice exam with answers for each test. If you study those practice exams, you will ace the tests.
Do not take her for business calculus. Grades based on 3 exams worth 20% each and one final worth 40%. Lets you correct exams for just an additional 5 points, but still wont give you the full five points if you didnt do it her way.
She is a nice teacher, but she is disorganized. The homework is online and it takes you to different random topics, but in class she goes over different ones, then on the test it's something different and harder than whats given in the homework. I think half the class was failing she only put our test grades up nothing else. I don't think she cares
Prof Hito truly cares. She is available for help even between her classes. You just have to put in the effort because she not only wants you to know how to do the work, but understand why. Hence all the proofs which are super annoying to be honest. I loved how caring and involved with the students that actually tried she was.
I wouldnt recommend her and the way she explains doesnt make sense She doesnt care if you dont pass I have known other math teacher who will actually pass you when your trying Go to another school to take this math course 215
Professor Hito is very patient and straight forward. She wants to see her students succeed but you have to definitely make the effort! She has practice exams that are SUPER HELPFUL, DO THEM! The homework can be very tedious but it really prepares you for the exams. I had little math experience and passed with an A but it was definitely a challenge!
She was a great teacher to learn from but as you see my grade she is a tough grader, especially when it comes to exams. So if you do take her ask her questions and attend her office hours, she wants you to succeed.
Math is not the easiest subject. Professor does her best to explain, but she has a habit of going through the lectures too quickly and it can be hard to keep up. She does offer EC here and there but it does not do much to improve ones grade. Office hours are helpful, but the tutoring center is better.
Each one of her explanations is more complicated than they need to be. You could pick up a trig book and spend a few hours a day on it and you would grasp it more than after 3 hours in her class. Her lecture teaching style is fine but the way she teaches is so flawed that a student would need prior experience to keep up or spend hours in tutoring.
Took calculus, let me tell you I LOVED IT. Very short, specific. 4 exams, 5 homework assignments, 4 "extra credits". The homework's are long, but it is one per chapter. She gives a sample exam (very similar to the actual exam) than 10 Q per exam and 5 "extra" correction points after each exam. She grades, lets you correct, get 5 extra points.
She is a very very very harsh grader. So much so she'll doc you points for using a word she doesn't like, while not specifying for specific vocabulary. Hardly available, hardly answers emails, she didn't grade the majority of assignments until the term was already over. I wouldn't take this professor if you can help it.
Absolutely horrible. Professor Hito is the worst professor I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. Absolutely will not respond to emails. Assigns random groups to people despite 90% of the class not participating. ALWAYS forgets to open MyMathLab assignments putting students behind on HW. Lectures are useless. Exam typos render them ungradable.
She is really hard to follow during lectures. She also grades extremely hard and the comments she put when she grades makes you feel inadequate. She says things like, "how would that even work?" or uses exclamation points after saying something like, "not done correctly!".She is very condescending.
The professors teaching style is terrible. I attended countless office hours trying to understand the material and she could not explain it in a way that I could retain. Furthermore, she did not grade any assignments until the last day of class, so I was unaware that I was failing. She does not explain problems she just solves them in a rush.
Awful professor. I would not recommend taking this professor unless you already have taken the course with another professor. No one passed her class. She rushed through every lecture and expected students to remember how to do the problems. You basically need to teach yourself calculus. Your final grade is based solely on the tests. Good luck
Her teaching is perfectly fine during the zoom meetings, and her notes and lectures are fine as well. The only downside of having her as a teacher is the AMOUNT of homework there is and the HARSH grading she does. She grades the homework like it is a test. I missed about 3-4 problems and because I only showed partial work and got a 75% on the HW.
