Mary is a wonderful teacher. Gets to know her students and is willing to work with anyone. Makes class interesting by bringing outside examples in and relating them to the material. You do have to read and study, but this is college people.

she is nice and understanding but knows nothing about film, tries to throw in theories that have nothing to do with class... long tests... a few bad movies but easy if you watch em...

Maybe it's just me, but i didnt find the class all that easy.I'd take another class with this teacher because she IS a very good teacher. She answers questions and makes sure that you understand before she moves on.No all my other teachers were like that.

Prepare to read & write (AND hear her family stories), but she gives you plenty of time to prepare for her essay tests.

You will LOVE Mary McKenzie! She is really nice and has a great personality. You will hear alot about her life and family. The only thing you will not like is the time consuming tests. They were all take home but essays.

I had a rough time last semester dealing with personal issues. Mary was very sympathetic and helped me out alot. I missed 2 tests and she let me make them up with no problems. Her class was very entertaining and I found it interesting. Great teacher!

Had Mary for Intro & Criminology and I thoroughly enjoyed both her classes. She's a GREAT teacher. She may have weekly papers from time to time, but she makes it fun...you may have to put in some time with her courses, but it's not bad by any means. She's a riot and she's understanding.

Her classes are interesting If you pay attention take notes and go over the study guide for test you will pass this class easily. Her study guides are thorough and only tells you to go over the things that are on tests. Definately not a waste of time. Take any class with her and you will be glad.

Very good teacher. I was in a LARGE lecture class, never used visual aid, but got ALL of resources from the text. No HW assigned, highlight text during lecture, GO TO CLASS, and use study guides on her web page. Hard to get lower than a B.

She's a great teacher, but her tests are not that easy. They're not hard if you read the book and study. Make sure that you understand the basic concepts. She does not take attendence, and enjoys talking.

Very nice individual. Lots of reading and tests are mainly essay questions, but she gives you questions ahead of time. Will give you advice if you ask her for help. If you like to read and write, easy A.

She is a great woman, and interesting, but doesnt teach the material all that great. You have to read your book and do the review sheets she gives you online and you'll be fine. She sticks to the syllabus so you dont have to go execpt for test days. The Final is optional.

If you like to sleep in, this is the perfect class. There's only 5 exams and no homework. Get the study guide off the web, read your book and you'll pass the test without having to go to class. If you do show up, she does ramble about her family, but it's still interesting. Easy A if you do the reading, most of it is common sense stuff neways.

Mary is a great teacher. She is funny and uses a lot of her own stories while teaching...makes it very interesting. If you are at least a little familiar with the book, and pay attention in class, the exams are quite easy. 5 exams + Final; she will drop your lowest. Only 3 chapters per exam and not cumulative. Take her!

VERY EASY COURSE! Read the book, come the class before the exam to review and then exam day! She gives a full list of when the exams are and what to study online (on her site). Yes she rambles on about her kid ... a lot, but she is very funny.

All tests are multiple choice. She posts a study guide online before each test. If you have a book there is no point in going to class. Some questions on her tests are a little confusing, but easy overall. She makes me laugh outloud every time I go to class. She talks alot about her kids!!!

This class is interesting and she is a good professor. She gives you the study guide and will tell you the essays. The tests are MC and she gives you a chance to get a few points extra credit. She can get off of the subject at times but she is willing to rearrange dates for tests and any projects due.

Very easy quiz grades. But the first test is killer. Make sure you read the notes that she puts on-line. SOmetimes it helps to watch a movie twice if you haven't seen it before. Great teacher.

I really liked this teacher. She makes class actually interesting. She's funny and never boring. 5 tests with study guides. The final is the 5th test and is optional. You actually don't even have to go to class. Tests are pretty easy for the most part but some of the stuff can confuse you. I strongly suggest taking her.

I took her film class. She gave quizzes about every movie that we watched, but they weren't too hard as long as you paid attention to it. She gives extra credit if you are in class when attendance is low. I think I'm having like 4 points added onto my final grade just for being in class.

i love this lady. she is really funny and is open to openions and thoughts. HOWEVER...i found her test really hard. what is "supposed" to be on the test never is and the questions are tricky. but then again im not a good test taker. all that aside if i had to take it again i would def. take her!

Great teacher! Will help in any way she can. I thought her test were fairly easy considering I would study the night before. Just do the work she ask and should get a good grade. One of the nicest teachers I've had! Would tell anyone to take her class!

She is an amazing teacher. I took her for both Socy 1101 and Criminology. Socy 1101 had multiple choice tests. Criminology had 4 tests 2 exams and a media jornal. Overall not that hard, final is optional and every once and a while she will give extra credit towards your final grade if you show up on a day of low attendance

A great teacher. There was 4 test and two exams. One group project and media journals. This class was difficult do to the time frame of 5 weeks. Go to class everyday so you do not miss the bonus points she will give.

Mary seems really really nice in the beginning. I read all of the comments about her before taking the class and they make her sound easy. She's not that easy.. her test are pretty difficult. But, as long as you read the chapters and the "readings" you should be fine! She will make you laugh and was semi-helpful.

AWESOME LADY! contrary to pop. belief, she does not talk about her sex life AT ALL (that person clearly never went to class)...4 tests (2 m/c + 1 take-home essay), and 2 exams (m/c + take-home essays), and the final's optional. group project (you can do it alone if you don't want a group), and a media journal that'll take you an hour. AWESOME CLASS

first test is brutal, but hang in, rest are MUCH easier. just showing up gives you 30% of your grade, brought me up one entire letter grade.

This class was very enjoyable. She makes sociology really interesting. The tests aren't hard at all if you study the text and the readings. You have to buy a clicker thing which takes attendence. As long as you show up and do the readings, you will get an A.

I loved her. She's a really great professor. She's hilarious and is always interested in what you have to say. Her exams are online but tough. If you pay attention and study hard, you should do fine. The homework is easy, it's simply blogging. She gives great examples and her lectures are interesting. I will def take her again if I get the chance.

She is hilarious!! I laugh at her laugh and her daughter is pretty adorable. This class was pretty easy..just make sure you study out of the book on the 2 exams. The 3 tests are a piece of cake. You'll make an A with effort in her class.

I took criminology as well and it in no way prepared me for what you have to do in this class. There's ALOT of work although it is not hard to do it's just really overwhelming. I wouldn't take it this coming semester because next fall they are making it writing intensive. 3 tests (about 20 pg min. each), lit review, article brfs, concpt map, & more

Teacher is very nice and funny. attendence is not mandatory - she uses the clicker to take attendence but it also counts as extra credit. drops the lowest test grade. very little work to do out of class. tests online. take as an easy class

Amazing teacher! There is a lot of work for her class, but it is a 4000 level. She wants to prepare students for graduate school, which is def. doing. LOVED the class though. If you can take her do it. Such a great person to know, and is very helpful with everything!

Mary is a good professor. She was always prepared and knew what she was going to talk about. Class was interesting with some good discussion and her presentations also used the PRS Transmitters ("Clickers"). Her tests weren't too bad as long as you read the books and paid attention in class. I would definitely take another class with her.

She is a very great teacher. I had her for my lecture of my film class and she was always very clear. If you did not understand something you could approach her or e-mail her and she would clear it right up. I would take another one of her classes.

She is awesome, take her film class if you have an opportunity! You have three test the whole semester including the final. The best part about that is, they are online! You watch the BEST movies and take quiz's on them, but those aren't hard. As long as you do your work and are in class to take quiz's, you will do fine.

Everyone has to take LBST 1101, 02, 03, 04, or 05. Take LBST 1102 with this teacher. Tests are all open note and taken at home. You don't have to show up for class when she goes over stuff because all she does is go over the notes. I went to this class 14 times this semester to watch the movies and that's it. Very easy A.

Easy A! The test are all online and open note. Although I went to class everyday, you don't. Just make sure to come on the quiz days. She knows her stuff and loves the subject she teaches. Good class with a good teacher! TAKE THIS CLASS!

Awesome Professor!! Deviant behavior. Uses clickers, which really helps grade at the end of the semester. No final exam but three large papers (20-30pages, but its a writing intensive class). Lets you turn them in at the end of the semester. I RECOMMEND HER!!!

If you love to watch movies this is the class to take. She does everything online except for watching the actual movie. She doesn't take attendance since it is a large class. I loved this class and teacher!

I've never taken a class I've had to spend so much time on. Assigns a ridiculous amount of reading material. Had to spend 16 hrs. per week to complete everything. However if you make an effort on the assignments, you'll do well. Tests are difficult due to reading material. All reading comes from journal articles. Assignments based on readings.

WAY too much work for a 2000-level class. This is more work than my senior seminar class. Loads and loads of busywork which takes forever to get grades back. A typical assignment consists of four writing prompts -- and there's still MORE work due during the week! Would not take again. Can only imagine what this is like during summer.

I took Professor McKenzie for online sociological social psychology. The class was easily structured and simple. The textbook is absolute key. I would definitely take a class with here again in the future.

Professor Mckenzie is easily one of my favorite professors. She is always there to help you when you need it, whether it be about the course or something completely different. I would recommend taking her to anyone!

Professor McKenzie was by far one of my favorites, but because she was easy but because she was concise in her instructions, available (personally not a TA) to clarify, and provided useful feedback.

When I first looked over the Syllabus, I'll admit that I extremely wary of the class but after meeting her during her office hours my worries were put at ease. She is extremely helpful, kind and relatable and assists you with your qualms. I wish I had met her during my first semester in University because she's one of the best professor I've had.

Very simple class, provided you're willing to do the work and put time into the Activities and textbook readings. I'd recommend it to everyone!

This course isn't hard, but it is A LOT of work. Her TA's grade most of the work, and they are very strict, beware.

This class is a lot of busy work and has 100 question test but the class is very easy. Mrs. McKenzie is very lenient with grading and late work. She is also very approachable.

Although a work heavy class, Professor McKenzie was AWESOME! She cares about the individual students and does not view them as a number. She makes you attend a zoom call so she can see how are doing in the class. She is extremely caring and tells you that she is there if you need her. Awesome professor! Mary cares about what she is teaching. "Lectures" are very free-flowing without much structure; definitely not the usual boring lecture format. There are a lot of writing assignments but she isn't very intense about the grades. The whole semester is basically working towards the final writing assignment. Do all the assignments easy final paper.

Dr. McKenzie is an amazing professor! If you need extra time on an assignment all you have to do is ask and she will accommodate to the best of her ability. She responds to emails very quickly even on weekends which to me shows she cares about her students and there needs.

This course was SOCY 4114: Professionalism. You can tell that it is a newly developed course, but it is very informative. You will learn things that actually help in your career. This includes resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn, interviews, internships, elevator speeches, networking, Grading is distributed among many assignments. Easy A though.

Really good professor teaching an interesting subject she is obviously passionate about. Class periods were all about free discussion of topics both presented in the material covered that week and in the news that related to it. The only drag was that grading was pretty slow for the big project we did all semester.

Dr. McKenzie is a passionate professor who fosters engaging class discussions. While grading can be slow, the class is manageable with active participation. unstuck study was a helpful study tool alongside the readings.

there are a ton of assignments in this class, 5 exams and two final projects towards the end. Super sweet teacher but you just need to make sure you pay attention in her class you have to be dedicated in this course to learn everything! I would take her again

Mary is a great professor. She tailors her courses in a way that promotes real learning and understanding as well as a school-life balance.
