She seems like such a pleasant and helpful professor. She has an interesting life and takes her job seriously. I'm glad I took a chance in taking her class
The class is sooooooo boring but she makes such an effort to make it interesting. She seems helpful and laid back.
I hate this f*cking class! Her exam was mad hard and she's all over the place when she teaches. She doesn't tell us what we need to know and thinks that the grades in the class were normal or average or whatever. DON'T TAKE HER!
midterm was 10 mult. choice and 2 essays based on 6 chapters from the txtbk. The essays were easier than the mult choice. She's sweet but the class is boring...bring a pillow!
The first few weeks in this class i actually was learning, but after the midterm everything is just repitition of the same material. All she does is assign hw and then go over it in the next class, she never has a lesson plan. She hardly knows the law herself. She is not cut out to be a professor.

The most boring class ever! She expects you to know every little detail for the exams and doesn't do a good review. Thank God I don't have to go to this class anymore.
Let me just say bring a pillow! She tought the same thing the whole semester. Test is ridiculous, 10 multiple choice questions based on 6 chapters and 1 essay!! She's not that bad but like i said bring a pillow.
DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ANYTHING! RUN!!!
oh my god she is unbelievably stupid!!!! first of all it takes her 20 minutes to take attendance then the rest of the class she talks about how she had succeeded in becoming a lawyer and how we should all try to be like her...she never teaches the actual material she is supposed to...and in her tests she expects u to know every single little detail
DO NOT TAKE HER. She might be a smart woman, but she can't teach for her life. She is unclear with exam questions and sometimes you question why you even got up in the morning to go to class. Now I'm never this harsh, but this lady is really horrible!!!!!!
This is the worst professor at St John'. You do not learn anything in this class. I don't know how she is a teacher or a lawyer. She cannot teach! She never had a lesson planned and the tests were rediciulous. She doesn't even tell you anything that will be on the test. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR...EVER!!
Vague. Final and Midterm are 10 mul. choice questions. She doesn't cover the material for the test in class, and it not in the text book. THe Text book is as bad as her. Please do youself a favor don't take her.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.SHE IS SO VAGUE AND SHE DOESNT KNOW WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT. ALL HER MATERIAL IS REPETITIVE AND SHE GIVES U SHORT FINALS AND MIDTERM AND SO MANY STUPID WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS.. DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES. AND EVEN IF YOU DO ALL THE WORK SHE WIL STILL GIVE U A C. IF THEY ASK YOU DO YOU WANT TO TAKE NOES'
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! SHE GIVES UNFAIR QUESTIONS ON HER MULTIPLE CHOICE, AND SHE DOES NOT REASON WITH YOU EVEN THOUGH THE QUESTIONS WERE UNFAIR. SHE WILL FIGHT WITH YOU BEFORE HEARING YOU OUT. SHE IS HORRIBLE.

she is very nice and if you ask her for help she will help you .You get alot of experience. If youj really want to learn how to do professional legal research take her class. Be an adult and don't be afraid to work.I never missed her class. I learned everyday no lie. Other people are just trying to get an easy pass and are stuck in H.S.
One of the worst professors in SJU. I took her once and had a terrible experience, but the problem is that she fits in my schedule and took her again and made a huge mistake. She doesn't teach anything and expects you to know everything. Very unclear about things and shouldn't be teaching anymore. Don't take her!!!!

This professor should not be teaching! she is a moron at this subject matter and I suspect some others. This was a feeling shared by entire class. Worst of all, she would not admit it when she was wrong. Thank God she had the decency to give me an A! Almost all I learned there was conflicting info. I'm not sure what I learned, in the end.
I took her fam. law class, real estate, employment law, & legal research & i got no less than a B in all the classes. yes it is hard to get an A but that is cuz she does not just give them out like free water or something. however I did get an A- & B+ which is not bad for a person that hardly studied and did assignments in one day. take her easy grad
Had Noe for LR&W and hated every minute. Wound up with her again for 2 more classes and it was like having a different professor. Taking her again next sem in Immigration Law. She's not easy, but she's very smart and experienced. She's above the mean, better than a lot of the crap unavoidably floating around st john's. Don't be scard to take her
She is a great professor and knows the legal field very well. She is not easy but neither is the legal profession. Her method of teaching is different but effective. I recommend her if you are a hard worker. However, the problems she gives you to research can be very vague and can make your research frustrating.
Prepare to work, you better read the book, and know your stuff, she provides a professional environment and grills you but if you are on top of things you'll feel a huge sense of accomplishment. If you want a real class that has meaning and walk out being much better at legal writing research and any other field she studies take her!
the bad comments about prof noe were all not true because she treats you as a professional who has actual work to do.. she doesnt sugar coat anything and all the wanna be lawyers who dont want to work well i am so sry for you guys,, i def recommend her because i had her for about 8 classes and now i am a fantastic researcher and writer
had her twice. she is a good professor, BUT the writing center will become ur best friend, she is ALL about writing. she gives work, so be prepared. one thing i really liked about her was she informed you about law opportunities (careers, internship, classes, etc.)
The most important thing to do in her class is to read, read, and did I mention you have to read and write? She is very enthusiastic about teaching and will always try to find many opportunity for her student to be involve with (such as getting a job or internship). Although her midterm and final are extremely easy, her grading is very weird.
Everyone loves to hate this professor. She tries to teach but she kind of treats her students like children. You do end up learning a lot in her classes because you're constantly getting asked questions and having to regurgitate back to her everything that she tries to feed you. You have to be prepared every week or you will not do well.
This professor speaks to you in a condescending tone. When she lost one of my outlines, she didn't want to communicate with me and just told me to "email her the situation". At least for me, she was very rude and unhelpful.
Prof. Noe is a great professor she s there to help anyone who seeks it, she is not tough at all and in fact is just trying to prep. you for the real world, take her if you can she s one of SJUs best and always there to help anyone whether its with confusing material or an internship.
I dont know what all the complaints about this prof. are about but I can assure you that you will be thankful in law school you had her, shes not tough and always there to help you shes basically lives in the school and is always around 4 students who need her. Read the book and be prepared stop being lazy and get read 4 THE REAL WORLD. Noe rocks!
Noe is not an easy A!!But you will learn soo much in her class. She gives a lot of reading, & a question everyday on the reading(which she collects & grades). Every fri you have to submit 2 questions that you have asked her during the week. This is the dreadful part. b4 the test you will do an outline, its 20pgs. Class not for the lazy
Lots of people knock on her because she's strict and expects A LOT from her students, but I haven't met a prof that is as passionate and dedicated to teaching as she is. Take her if you want to learn what it's like to be in the real world and not for an easy A.
Please save yourself from making the mistake of taking this extremely time-consuming course. Professor Noe needs to understand that students have other obligations which include other important classes, family life and work. She needs to make the work a tad bit lighter at the very least. I got an A but had to work for it---immensly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
STAY AWAY!!! The level of condescension when it comes to this professor is ridiculous. Regardless if you get an "A" or not she gives entirely too much work. So, if you like lots of work, then take Professor Noe because she will give you plenty of it.
I was suppose to take a Legal Ethics course but she turned it into a Legal Writing Course - which she clearly didn't know how to teach. How does a person get better at writing when the professor has no feedback and makes other students read and revise it. She is a horrible professor and needs to stick to the course material - Try not to take her!!!
Like someone said before, she is not an easy A. But i learned a lot in her class. If you seem interested enough, she gives you attention and is very willing to help her students. Ask a lot of questions, because what she wants can be some what unclear.
SHE IS THE WORSE PROFESSOR EVER! DO NOT TAKE HER! SHE IS SO UNREASONABLE AND SHE GIVES SO MUCH WORK. EVEN IF YOU DESERVE AN A SHE HAS HER FAVORITE STUDENTS AND HATES THE WORLD. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND DONT TAKE HER! SHE DOESNT CARE ABOUT HER STUDENTS. SHE THINKS SHE IS GOD.
I've had her for about three to four classes and she is the most helpful, insightful professor I've ever had!! True, her class is NOT for the faint-hearted, but if you come to class prepared and with a willingness to work, you'll be fine!!!
Wonderful professor and a teacher. Had pleasant experience while learning. Not like other usual professor. Makes actual use of class time. Hard course but you get to learn a lot. Professor is very helpful in and out of the classroom.
She is an awesome professor. Everyone who is bashing her is just lazy. She prepares you well for the real world and law school. Definitely take her it is helpful to build connections and learn a lot. She does make her students strive for excellence because she cares. I took 5 classes with her since freshmen year and got As. TAKE HER!!!
Noe seems mean and cold at first but she is really not. She is actually quite caring and offers help. What she says you need to know is on your exam. She notices when you improve and encourages. She's very helpful and wants you to do your best.
Professor Noe is nothing short of an incredible woman. She wants only the best for her students and will go out of her way to assist you. For the students who complain about the amount of work she gives they need to wake up and realize itll be 10x worse when they get to law school. You'll be thanking her down the road when you get slapped in the fa
RUN!!!!!!! and I mean RUNNNNN FARRRR AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR. Mind you im a very hard working student and the level of work is ridiculous for this course. Secondly she tells you to read the book for the quizzes and then she grades it according to what SHE thinks. TOTAL GPA KILLER. RUNNN!
Prof. Noe will not teach you any of the material before you are graded on it. Your grade for this class will completely reflect what you learn on your own at home reading the book. She gives daily quizzes which are 50% of the grade, she will rush you through them and it will be very tough to be consistant. Then shell teach you after you fail thequi
She will kill your GPA and not care. She gives daily quizzes that are 50% of your grade, and you do not learn the material in class. this is on your own from reading and she teaches you the material after you bomb the quiz. Even if you know something from the reading many times she will confuse you. nice lady but doesn't care about your grade.
I dont understand how Noe is allowed to teach. She has a wealth of information, but lacks the ability to convey it. You will learn there is Federal Law, State Law and Noe Law. She has gathered her own interpretations of law. If one student is confused, its the student. If the whole class is perplexed, its HER! No more summa ****laude for me.
I dont know what everybody says and thinks of her but from my personal opinion, Noe is a truly educated professor who has a background in law being once an attorney but has given that up for her true dedication of teaching. Lifelong skills especially in future working opportunities are acquired in class.
So for everyone who is complaining that Professor Noe is a tough professor, you should forget about ever going to law school. She goes above and beyond to teach her students how to read, write, and interpret law. As a law school student, I am so thankful for Professor Noe's guidance. Take her class and be prepared to work, it'll be worth it!
I thought she was tough and challenging, but looking back I cant think of another professor that prepared me for a job in legal and law school. It may be tough/confusing, but the one thing that it will force you to do is FIND ANSWERS yourself. You think your going to have a nice supervisor that is going to lay stuff out for you?NO. Get used to it.
One of the best professors at St. John's. She gives you all the information you will need to receive an A. There's really no excuse not to get one as long as you do the work. Kind of sounds like real life... Do the required work and you will succeed. If you do all the assignments studying for the exams are very easy. I highly recommend her!
I took Prof Noe for every one of my Legal Studies electives (3.5 years; 7 Classes). Her classes aren't easy and she gives a lot of work however it pays off in the end. I work for a law firm now (she set me up with the interview) and I also got internships with judges in both Federal and State Courts. If you want to learn for law school TAKE HER!
I took Prof Noe for 5 LES classes. She was the first LES prof I had at St. John's, and because of her I majored in LES. She is one of the only Profs that seriously prepares you for any career in the legal field. I interned in the SDNY and worked for the 2nd Circuit, and now am a 1L at St. John's Law, all bcuz of her help. TAKE HER! And do the work.
Professor Noe is one of the best Professors at St. Johns. She is always going above and beyond to help her students and if you make an effort and take advantage of her helpfulness you will get an A. If you do all of your assignments and show up to class, the midterm and final grades are insignificant. You will learn a lot from her. Recommended!
Prof Noe is a great professor. she will make you work hard to get a good grade. you need to actually show up to class. she will go out of her way to help you. if you dont understand something she will find a way to meet with you to clarify things. I would have taken her for more classes if I could have!
Great professor! She really heps prepare you for the real world - I got several internship opportunities with her assistance. Expect lots of writing assignments (Memos); her exams are all based on what's covered in lectures (so attend them!); be prepared to participate in class. Third class with her and I only wish I could have taken more with her.
DO NOT MISS HER CLASS! LOTS OF WRITING, LOTS OF CASE SUMMARIES, LOTS OF DISSECTIONS, IF YOU ARENT A HARD WORKER DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES. PROF NOE IS AWESOME AND ALLOWS REWRITES. MIDTERM AND FINAL ARE CASE SUMMARIES. RELY HEAVILY ON THE WRITING CENTER. SHE MAKES YOU GO SO START EARLY. PROF. NOE IS A TRUE LAWYER IN THE WAY SHE OPERATES & NO PHONES
BEST PROF EVER!! Legit worth all the money. Motivational, encouraging! Gives you opportunity to resubmit your work so you know what you did wrong, you learn, and get to leave her class with an A (as long as you work for it) The Best Professor who communicates! I emailed at 8pm on a weekend, and she respond an hr later!
Noe is an amazing professor. She is so kind and does whatever it takes to help her students (writing help, internships, recommendations) If you are a legal studies major your doing yourself a favor if you take her. Just work hard in her class its worth it. Also she has the BEST connections for internships for legal studies majors at St. John's.
Professor Noe is the MOST helpful professor I have ever encountered. She genuinely cares for her students so much. Through her I was able to get two internships in the Southern Federal District Court of New York. Even after I finished taking two courses with her, we maintain contact, and she has assisted me greatly with my law school applications
Prof. Noe is a great professor, even though her classes can be difficult and require a lot of work, all of Prof. Noe's classes are informative and I found myself learning a lot. Prof. Noe is beyond helpful and she goes out of her way to help any student who needs help. Anyone and everyone should take one of Prof. Noe's class.
Professor Noe is one of the greatest professors I have had at St. John's. You should take her if you really want to learn something. You wont be able to sleep through her class but all the work she gives is relevant. She really cares about her students and wants them to pass. She is extremely helpful with internship opportunities. Take her!
Professor Noe was an amazing professor. She was very helpful. Make use of her resources and always reach out because she is always there to help.
Professor Noe is without a doubt one of the best professors at St. John's University. She gives alot of work but the work pays off. She also goes above and beyond for her students and is open to any questions without being intimidating. She's a great professor who cares about her students and it would be a shame to miss out on one of her classes.
She barely answers your emails or questions directly. You get three chances to do an assignment before its due for a grade, however she don't always check them on time so you are stuck wondering what you need to change for the graded assignment. I don't recommend her because she tells you to do something you do it and then she tells you it's wrong.
This subject is not hard, SHE MAKES IT HARD. There's a midterm & final. Online quizzes. Don't expect to do well on them because even with the book right in front of me with the answers, I still managed to get questions wrong. She basically does whatever she wants and if she doesn't like you, good luck getting higher than a C. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Adv. Legal Research & Writing: So this is my first time taking Prof. Noe, I was nervous about it due to the comments below BUT she's great. She's not an easy A but an A is not impossible. There's no book, just the usual legal research and writing. She's fair on grading. She love questions & to help. Just TRY!!!
She honestly is so rude. She is not approachable and doesn't care about YOU the student. This is INTRO to legal studies and she acts like we are supposed to know everything already. She is the worst professor i have had.
Good course and professor. She cares about the students and the field she is in. Gave helpful advice and made me a better writer. She gives more than enough time for assignments and is able to provide help if you have questions.
Professor Noe is very hard to communicate with. I would try to go her during her office hours but it was no help at all. You will think you understand her, but you really don't. She claims what she asks for is so simple, but she says one thing then does another. Avoid her!
AVOID! Had her as an into to legal studies, now in the classes that follow up and I realize that Prof. Noe did not prepare us at all. Goes way too fast. Expects us to already know the subject. Interrupts students while they're speaking and does not answer questions thoroughly. Unclear assignments that have nothing to do with the test. Do not take.
Did not prepare for future LES classes at all. I have to relearn everything. Not clear at all on grading. Threatens to to fail you if you are late on one assignment. Not very helpful when emailed. Tests are all writing, mostly all on a topic was was briefly covered. Wants to help with "writing" but does nothing constructive. Take someone else.
Constantly interrupts when you ask a question during class. Doesn't answer the question. Also assumes you're wrong when you answer a question because she does not let you explain it. Makes you feel very degraded. Not clear with what her expectations are. Take someone else if possible.
She is honestly not the worst professors Ive ever had, but she's on the list! Sheexpects her students tot teach themselves or to know everything already. Doesn't even go over what on the midterm or final, as for class time, we the students outline the chapter of the book and all the does is read the exact same thing we typed up with no explanation!
I didn't have a problem with her teaching. She knew the information well, and explained it thoroughly with her examples. You have to work for your grade, and it makes sense for a law class. She tells you what is on the final and midterm, so it's entirely up to you what do to with it. It's not an easy A class, but she does give extra credit :)
I took her class my Junior year because it was required for my major, but this class is impossible to manage. If you're trying to balance school, work, internships and a minuscule social life don't take her class, she has no sympathy. However she's a good teacher and if you have the time to put in the work you will learn the material.
Noe clearly knows what she's talking about, but she can be very ambiguous about her expectations for homework assignments. Intro to legal studies was pretty easy though.
This professor gives weekly homework. She will say it was well done but rarely will you receive full credit. The midterm was brief and there are few tests so try to do well. She was absent for about 3 weeks straight but did not cancel class. She is very knowledgeable, and the class goes quick. Not the greatest prof but not the worst.
This class is NOT for the faint of heart. She is a difficult grader, and often her lectures are ambiguous. She does, however, give you assignments that will actually help you learn the material. The midterm and final are very hard, only 3 or 4 questions long and content-heavy. You NEED the textbook. Don't miss class or slack on the cases.
I had her for Advanced Legal Research and Writing. Her emphasis on clear concise writing made me a better writer. she gave us the opportunity to submit a paper to be submitted for consideration to be published in St. John's undergrad journal. Not a lot of profs give you a chance to be showcased like that. She's literally my favorite professor.
I would avoid taking Noe. I had her for intro to LES last semester and it was the most challenging class. She is very knowledgeable in law but is not a good professor at all. Very hard to communicate with and alleges that assignments werent turned in, even if they were. Is a very tough grader but gives little to no feedback to improve your work.
Not sure what everyone is say, she requires NO book. Lets you submit your assignments multi times after she gives feed back. Show up, read and care and you will pass no problems. She made herself very avail so I could meet up and get feedback! Great prof very knowledgeable. Only mid term and final
Professor Noe is definitely the professor you want if you would like to gain a competitive edge in the legal field. She can be difficult, but she knows what she's talking about and doesn't baby you. You absolutely need the textbook though, it is your best friend and helps when studying & preparing your summaries and case readings.
She is a VERRRY tough grader. She is very specific about what she wants, but good luck trying to satisfy her. She is not helpful AT ALL. She would've been an okay person IF she wasn't my professor.
You can tell instantly that Professor Noe is not interested in teaching this class. During the middle of the semester, she cancelled 1 out of 2 classes for weeks on end. She is ambiguous with her feedback and gets frustrated if you don't instantly understand what she means.
Prof Noe is EXTREMELY vague. Although she says she's available anytime, she IGNORES emails, and does not relate to your question. She's focused on her book writing, and her FAVORITE students. Students are confused by her answers. Would DEFINITELY not take her class again. She has tenure, so she does not care about some students. Hope this is posted
Prof Noe was no help during online classes. She gives no feedback, doesn't respond to emails, is rude if you don't understand what she says right away. Had to teach myself everything at home & rely on classmates to learn material. Had to call her boss multiple times to get her to actually teach us something. Save yourself the trouble & annoyance.
DO NOT TAKE PROFESSOR NOE'S CLASS. SHE IS DISCOURAGING AND AN AWFUL TEACHER.
At first she seemed nice but She offers no assistance or feedback. She only started teaching in the last quarter of the semester. Does not care for the opinions and thoughts of others or helping her students. On the final she took points off without fully explaining why which was also done on the midterm. She will tank your gpa, DO NOT TAKE HER!
One of the worst professors I have ever had in my 4 years of college. Her instructions were unclear, and professor didn't take the time to respond to some of my emails. I know I am not the only person to feel this way in my class. her canvas page was beyond unorganized.
The way Professor Noe teaches (or lack thereof) makes it incredibly confusing and difficult to do well in this class. Im guessing she just doesn't understand Canvas because it was a dreadful experience every time you logged into the course page. Also her assignment instructions were so vague that I had no idea if I was even close to being correct.
SHE DOESNT TEACH. So hard to reach and when she does answer gives no clear explanation on what is going on and acts as if you should've known. Hard grader and when you email her asking what you got wrong and why she doesn't not explain. Nothing in this class is clear, no clear grading criteria, no clear directions. She makes it difficult to do well
very little respect and consideration for her students and their time and effort. does not answer emails. no one in the class has any idea what is going on. vague directions. messed up the final and deleted it while in progress. waited over an hour to let everyone know what was going on and when she will be reposting it.
Really unpleasant experience in her class. I learned more by teaching myself, than I did with her lectures (vague, unclear, and a tough grader). DO NOT TAKE HER. It is scary that her tenured position prevents her from being held accountable for her horrible teaching skills. By far the worst professor at St. John's.
Do not take her class. It will be THE worst experience youll ever have. I dont know how she is a professor because shes horrible. She doesnt teach. Not one of our assignments had clear instructions and she doesnt respond to emails. Our final was deleted while taking it and then after she completely changed the format. Save your GPA, stay away.
It says a lot when her and Ferrera have really bad ratings but most is more willing to take her instead. They're both equally bad. SJU, find someone better for litigation. Don't do this to your Legal Studies students. tsk tsk
I took her for LES 1009 & Civ. Lit in the same semester. Although there was a lot of work to be done in both classes, the work was never busy work. Every assignment served a purpose. LES 1009 is an advanced class, so expect to work hard. However, she gives feedback for all assignments and is always available to help you. Take advantage of her help!
Not a good professor at all, she is very very lazy, she posts no clear or concise resources or information on what she wants or expects, unless your psychic your going to ruin your gpa in this class, even if you reach out to her, she just tells you to go to writing center, she will just point out SOME missing points but never all, until the final.
Refuses to take responsibility for her mistakes. DO not take her course. Her grading is unfair and this class is not worth ruining your GPA.
If your taking LES for course credit, do not take this professor. Instead of trying to help you, she'll make fun of you in front of the whole class while never answering your question. I attended every class and completed the midterm and she still refused to grade my work on time and accurately. For your own sake, avoid taking her class.
Terrible professor, doesnt explain that well at least for civil lit, save your GPA plz
Professor Noe's class is challenging but rewarding. She provides helpful feedback and is always available to assist students. I found unstuck ai and the class textbook very useful for prepping. Overall, a tough but worthwhile course.
Be prepared to take only Midterm & Final and no other assignments to level the grade out. Will only give extra credit once but would be worth 0.5 or 1 point. (Not very helpful). The professor's professional abilities including teaching style and ability to convey the material clearly.I rate a 2/10(I am being nice with that rating.. you are welcome)
Only a midterm and a final, each worth 50% of your grade, you get 6 absences after that, you fail. There's no homework, all she does is yell at the class. Her classwork instructions are never clear, and we'd always be confused. No PowerPoint, she just shows YouTube videos, would never take her again literally had to teach myself the material.
Grade in the class is based only on your midterm and final exam, no extra credit. She rarely answers questions. You could ask her a question about the material, and she could simply repeat the question to you and then move on thinking she answered it. Canvas isn't organized, she doesn't even know what she has posted.
She only grades based on the midterm and the final so she will TANK your GPA if you're not careful. She fails to provide clear instructions for her assignments and gets frustrated if the class asks for clarification. Additionally if you miss 6 classes you will immediately kicked out. The most frustrating class ever. Don't take the risk.
This professor is an extremely tough grader and her instructions are very unclear. Almost every time I walked into class, I felt like I was failing because nothing she explained made sense. I would not recommend taking this course with her the stress and lack of clarity made it really hard to succeed.
