mad easy class...tests very easy...gives extra credit...u dont even have 2 go to the class..
She is a decent teacher. She does not make it a priority to know the students in her class. She reads from the textbook. Don't procrastinate her paper! Gives extra credit. Very knowledgeable if you actually bring up a discussion.
she nice, all you need to do is take the book to class, and highlight what she goes over, ohh..and she tells you in advance her essay questions, so u can get a huge head start...nice lady..
this lady made history so boring, she reads straight out of the book and again, she's very boring. Gives extra credit work, but not recommended for anyone to take.
her class was boring as hell, and tests consist of asinine questions with useless information; also she'll take a lot of points off ur essay for no reason; NOT recommended
she reads straight out of the book..she never comes on time, but then she always lets u out late...u can have a perfect eassay on the test, but get points off for no reaso!..dont take her
This class is so easy. Just take notes and pay half attention. The test revolve around a word bank...give me a break.
JUST OUTLINE IN YOUR TEXTBOOK WHAT SHE SAYS AND YOU'LL BE SET FOR HER TESTS. GIVES ESSAY QUESTIONS AHEAD OF TIME. GOOD TEACHER IF YOU LIKE TO STUDY NO BULL ****TING HERE.
didnt even show up to class on 1st day! yeah she goes over whats on the test, but the 'word bank' will consist of 50 other terms not on the test!
Worst teacher ever! she reads right out of her book. Not willing to help students at all. Stay away from her she is a nasty lady!!
easy class but this "teacher," "Ph. D" is terrible, not only does she read right out of the book but she must not prepare AT ALL because she actually pauses mid-sentence to read ahead to find out what we're learning about and this is e
I highly recommend Dr. O'Donnel for everyone. She is very thorough and detailed. I suggest you take her notes on your own rather than highlighting out of the book so that later you can refer to both. Her exams are extremely fair and simple!!
This professor is sooooo easy. Please do not be fooled ...she does read straight from the textbook...but that's what makes her so easy. Highlight what she says, memorize what's in the txt for your essays and u will be soooo straight. She's nice 2.
Please do not take this teacher. She is horrible, reads straight out of the book, class is the most boring in the history of school. She grades essays very hard. Repeats words such as "also" and "OK" about 560 times every class. She do
absolutely terrible
easy teacher...goes right out of the book, will tell you what to study for the test, and gives you a word bank for the test...majority of ppl passing with good grades..paper's a little complex, and she lets you sleep..but she's pretty easy
she is okay... i wouldnt recommend her class...there are 4 tests and i really hated that.. if u like tests take her... plus there is a term paper.. that has to be 8-10pages long. I didnt like the class
she uses the same tests every semester. just find somebody who took him the previous semester and memorize the answers. its not too hard. plus take the essays with you to the test. rediculously easy.
Hated this class. very boring. tests were hard alot of essays and stuff. it sucked
I liked the class, although Dr. O'Donnell could be unreasonable sometimes. Teaches straight from the book but she takes points off 4 petty reasons, & takes a while 2 give tests back. Don't bull**** on the studying, cuz her tests are not easy. She gives you the essays b4hand. Take her, she's great.
runnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
HATED HER! not only is she boring, but she doesn't care about her students .. AT ALL. her lectures are hell & you have to hand in 8-10 page paper. she's a hard grader, too. she'll take off 10 points for the smallest detail left out of your exam essays.
Ditsy. Really easy. Doesn't know what is really going on. Easy A. 4 tests one is a midterm, one a final. nothing is cumulative. one Term paper that is assigned at the begining of the term and handed in the week before the term ends. There are extra credit assignments too.
shes easy i guess, reads straight from the book, not leinent at all. however there is only a sign in sheet, so u can cut everyday! yay!
wow. she gives a lot of notes which should be copied but most of it comes from the book so reading is helpful. class is fairly easy
runnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
OMG you should stay home and just read the bookshe doesn't know how to teach, read straight from the book. Borrrrrrring!~
theres really no point in coming into class at all. she reads everytin straight from the book. you might as well highlight, its really boring. attendance is a sheet she passes around.theres an extra credit assignment due at the end of semester that could bring up ur average.
she is realllyyyyy easy
I'm actually upset with all of the nasty comments about prof. O'Donnell!!!She is a GREAT teacher! She tells you everything that will be on the tests, plus she gives extra pieces of interesting info about the time periods being discussed. She is very nice and answers ANY question without making you feel dumb...TAKE HER!oh.great extra credit assignment
omg... i suggest u do not take this teacher! she actually does work! RUN!
She reads right from the book so you don't really need to take notes. For the tests, she tells you what essay questions there will be on the test as well as what topics you need to know for the multiple choice portion. very nice professor overall, no real complaints.
Wow, people have got to calm down because this class was SO easy. Okay, so maybe you have to read and take notes ... that's called getting an education. She can be boring but history is a dry topic. Even if you didn't do too well on the exams, she gave out an extra credit assignment. If you do your work, it's an easy A.
she is overall a good teacher. she gives maybe 4-5 tests including the midterm and final. At the end of the term she gives an extra credit report on a movie and a term paper on a really open topic. if you take notes and skim the book you're pretty much set.
She reads straight out of her book, you dont even have to pay attention, bring laptops, leave class, just have someone sign in for you. For the test she tells you exactly wats on it, fill in's and mini essays, she also gives a term paper which isn't that bad on a topic of your choice as long as it relates to history. She's pretty nice.
She gives lecture the entire length of class which usually overlaps to the next class and says the same material sometimes. Her lectures cover most of the material on the test. You may want to read the book to get details. Her tests are 20 MC and two essays. She is friendly and nice but a tad boring.
as long as you take notes, read the text and listen to what she tells you, it`s easy to do well. she tells you exactly what to know for the test, including what the essays will be on. she`s a nice lady and sometimes has a weird way of being able to amuse students.
SHE teaches this class like a highschool class. U just need to buy the textbook because all she does is reead RIGHT OUT OF THE TEXT for every single class. She is as boring as can be, you WILL fall asleep +she doesnt allow u to bring ur laptops. She is extremelly boring and she gives 4/5 tests, midterm, final and the boringest, long, term paper ever.
AN EXCELLENT TEACHER. EVERYTHING IS STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOOK. HER JOKES ARE RANDOM YET ENTERTAINING AT THE SAME TIME. DEFINETELY USES UP ALL CLASS TIME, SOMETIMES EVEN GOES OVER! JUST READ YOUR BOOK, PAY CLOSE ATTENTION, AND COME TO CLASS AND YOU WILL PASS. VERY NICE LADY. YOU WILL LEARN A LOT.
Goooooood aaaaawwwwwwwful
She is sooooo boring! It seems as though she has no expression in her. She often times exceeded her class time and teaches straight from the book. There are several tests and two papers. I def. dropped that class!
She's very sweet, but this class is not easy! You have your work cut out for you! I worked my butt off for an A-, so who the hell got an A?
This class was horible! She wants you to know every detail for the exams, and 2 essay questions that she wants you to put a lot of information for 1 hour. Even when you study the textbook you never know what she is gonna pick from there! For the final she gave 3 essay questions. She is horible too much work for Core Class!
She lectured for the entire class. Got information straight out of the book. Had about 4 tests and a final paper. She gives extra credit but it doesnt do much because her tests require you to memorize the entire book!!! If you are good at memorizing...take this class otherwise DO NOT
this teacher is bad. She makes the class to hard for a core class. Her tests are so hard to get a good grade. you need to get every detail in your essay. her fill ins are hard because its 25q n she gives 50 words too hard. Plus her term paper is to long 8 pages of text!! Damn i dont know why i took her, don't take her!!!!
Most people fall asleep but she really knows what she's talking about. It's a basic lecture, so take notes every time and you don't need to buy the textbook. She doesn't give any homework at all. Three tests and one final. A term paper and an extra credit assignment. She was always late for class. Attendance is mandatory; sign-in sheet each day.
class is easy its a def B , you dont need to buy the book cause its 110 and she gives u all the info u need for the exams , but she talks alot , ITS INTERESTIN BUT BORIN
She talks alot through out the whole class so you end up with alot of notes..but she tells you everything that is going to be on the test the class before and you have to pick of the 3 essays to do..she tells you the 3 essays so basically all u have 2 do is write them out the night befor n transfer them..if u have a sidekick or sumin itz even easie
Easy A if you show up and then pay attention/ take notes in class. The tests are straightforward - follow the lecture/take sufficient notes and the exams will be easy. This particular professor even gives you the essay questions in advance..How much easier could it get?
extremely boring!!! she talks so fast you cant even keep up with writing what she says. for a core, it is too difficult. shes a tough grader and tries to cram too much into the tests. shes always late and keeps the class well beyond the time it ends. dont take her.
VERY boring u can fall asleep jus make sure u dont snore comes late to class but keeps the class till the very end even a lil pass like she doesnt kno we have a class afterwards does give the essay questions d class b4 but test are HARD especially part I which is fill in with a word bank w/the answer plus 50 other ones @_@ gives xtra credit project
if you love history n i mean luv paying attention to that stuff cuz she talks a lot n u have to take pages of notes, tests r hard part 1 is like 20 questions w/a word bank with the answers n 50 other WRONG answers so its not easy n 2 essays u cant write in 1 hour, then take her. NOT an easy A if u hate hist like me do NOT take...her nice lady tho
She is extremely boring in class. Her tests are somewhat fair bc the first part is always sentences w a word bank. She's pretty tough on the essay portion of tests. If you want a prof that looks to help students, then she's not the one. I wouldn't take her again. Worst prof I had this past semester.
mad boring class, buy a big note book becuase all you will be doing is taking notes test arent tht bad if you actually study someewhat...10 page term paper..i advise if you want to make the class fun to listen to some of her quotes. for instance "ladies and gentlemen the SPICE ISLANDS"
She is such a good teacher! She's an easier grader and all you need to do is listen to her lectures and take good notes. Everything she says is on her tests and she doesn't trick you. You need to go to class though. Recommend!
I had her last semester. she lectures 100%. she's not that bad though, her tests are directly from her notes. if you read the textbook it is very close to what she says in class. so study the textbook/notes and the tests are piece of cake. 8pg paper due near the end of semester. you can ask her questions and she'll answer it during lecture or after
Unfair grader. Teaches directly from the book. When I took her, i though it would be an easy class. Struggled to get above B.I'm sure there's better options for history teachers out there.
Professor O'Donnell is extremely knowledgeable and really knows what she is talking about. Around 5 tests, all which you should study for. Take good notes in class while she is lecturing and you'll do fine. One paper, 8 to 10 pages. She also gives an extra credit paper which raises your lowest test grade up a letter. Overall great class!
She lays out exactly what is expected of you. She goes into detail and is willing to explain herself throughout the lecture. She just doesn't accept work via e-mail.
Amazing! I loved her! At first, her class was strictly history but as the semester went on she showed her true passion for teaching. Her class was very interesting. Everything is by the book so if you don't go to class get the book. If you do go to class, take good notes and you'll be fine. Always write down what she writes on the board!Very helpfu
Shes very knowledgable, clear and concise. Must attend her classes in order to do well on the exams, she sometimes tells you things in class that are not in the txtbk but are on the exams. you must commit the required chapters to memory if you want to pass her class, no multiple choice, no grade curving, prepare to take tons of notes.
She's a PHD, extremely knowledgeable teacher, You will see europe, and asia in the 14,15,16,17,18,19th centuries with her. 8-10 pg term paper that can be on any world history events from 1500 until 1950's, 4 tests total. Be-careful; Cant slack in this class.
great professor. attend classes as much as possible! class lectures are very informative, does a great job of telling you what's exactly on the test
Love her, very helpful, made history class extremely interesting
This class is lecture based and is easy as long as you pay attention and take notes. It can get boring at times. The textbook is not used at all, but you will need it if you miss class. Theres only 3 tests and she gives you the essays before hand, if you actually study the notes you should do fine.
She gives out a lot of notes every class, so be sure you don't miss any. No laptops allowed. She is very nice, make sure you take notes on almost everything she says. Tests can be hard, but if you read the book and take notes from the book you're fine. You can also do this if you miss a day. Ask her for help on passing a test if you do poorly.
She is fair but I wouldn't say easy. You must show up to class and buy the text book. Pay attention to names and dates because on her tests those questions are worth 50points. You are graded based on your paper, mid term, and final so make sure you study hard and take your paper to the writing center. You will do good if you put in the work and try
Very knowledgeable professor. Gives a lot of notes but all of them are need for the tests. For the most part she reads from the textbook so it can really help if you have that. She tells you exactly what will be on the test and even gives the essays that will be on it. As long as you study your notes and don't do your final paper last minute easy A
Grades exams extremely harshly. Takes points off for not being specific and missing information. She reads directly from the textbook. Classes feel long and she takes up every second of it lecturing. Not impossible to get an A but you have to work for it.
Unless you have a friend there who actually wants to pass, if you miss a class, you have missed A LOT OF INFORMATION. This isn't one of those classes you miss, EVER. Her lectures are VERY BORING. This class is literally built for anyone who is really into history. If you aren't, you'll hate this class to the bone but she's still a good professor.
she is very strict and hard exams
She is tough, but overall it's an enjoyable class. I HATED history but she organizes what you'll learn and breaks it up nicely. In one class period she will discuss a lot of information without using a PowerPoint so be ready to right down a lot. She's very loving and if you just focus and write detailed notes then you'll pass her tough tests.
Class is straight forward. She lectures each class from the textbook so if you dont want to pay attention get the book she reads directly from it. 4 tests including final and midterm 15% each and non cumulative and she give you the essay questions before hand. A 35% term paper and 5% for attendance too. No too bad. Shes adorable and funny at times
I happen to love History so i enjoyed her lectures quite a bit. The tests are slightly difficult but she does give the essay questions ahead of time. She expects good responses from students and graded the Research Paper a bit strictly. I enjoyed her class a lot but make sure you enjoy History if you're going to take her.
Worst professor in St. Johns!! Do not take her!! Had her for core HIS1000C where she gave no notes for her exams. Grade is based on a 8-10 page term paper and midterm and final. Tests are challenging and she failed more than half the class. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Her lectures are boring and she reads straight from the textbook. You can not pay attention at all and then read the textbook before the test and you will pass. She gives 3-4 exams which is fill in the blank as well as two essays but she gives you the topics beforehand. Most of your grade is based off the term paper
I had her for History 1000C. If you have no intrest in history then I understand why you would not like this class. Yes she does non stop talk for the whole class but she is very nice and funny. Her tests are not that hard if you listen in class. The term paper accounts for a large amount of the overall grade but she is not a tough grader.
The class is made up of about 3 tests and a major term paper that is worthy about 35% of your grade. The class is mostly her lecturing from the textbook so if you don't mind taking a lot of notes she is the teacher for you.
Nice lady who tries her best. You can tell teaching is too much for her, but she gives an effort. Class is made up of 4 tests and a paper. There is some extra credit opportunities. Lecture heavy, and is out a lot.
She is very personable and a good lady, although as a professor she doesn't give any powerpoint or board notes, she reads out of the book and you are expected to write the notes based off of what she says verbally. She gives three exams, and a term paper (worth 35%) I got a B+, I studied and worked very hard all semester. An A is possible, not easy
A great lady, has a cast knowledge of the topics she teaches and is interested in them. Ties what she teaches into the real world and also Catholic teaching as St. Johns is a Catholic University. Easy grader and gives extra credit.
She reads straight from the book. She knows her stuff, but she isn't engaging. If you actively take notes you'll do fine. If not, get the textbook and teach yourself like I did. Tests are fill in the blank and 2 essays. Final paper is 35% of your grade. if you're on your phone she will call you out. if you don't have to take her, dont.
A very sweet lady who is passionate about what she teaches. Sometimes class can be a bit boring to sit in as you just listen to her the whole time and take notes. Theres no homework and tests aren't too bad if you study and pay attention. Gives a few extra credit assignments. Tries to joke sometimes to lighten up the class take her shes good
Very nice, but old school lady. Lecture heavy - it is easy to get lost during lectures. Midterm and final were all fill-in with essay questions at the end. Not the easiest professor, but you'll definitely learn something from the class. Take if you have to, she's honestly not that bad.
Kay is AMAZING! I have taken many classes with her. She pushes her students into real-world experience and also is the most accommodating prof I have ever had. If you ever feel like the class is too fast-paced or too many assignments, you can talk to her and she will shorten them or find an alternative. WORTH TAKING!
Prof. O'Donnell is really old school. Notes are written on the chalk board and you are expected to copy down. Tests are based on lectures and really require you to pay attention. Class is completely paper, no computer is used at all. If you put in lots of effort you will do OK.
It is as simple as this; put in average effort you will get an average grade, put in above average effort you will get an above average grade. This prof is very old school only lectures and uses the chalkboard. Class starts and ends with a prayer and she expects you to be paying attention.
O'Donnell is such a sweet Professor! She cracks a few jokes to lighten up the lectures and is overall very kind. The entire class is just listening to her speak and taking notes without any power points or anything. As long as you pay attention in class and take good notes, you'll pass. She's easygoing when it comes to grading.
Hard to focus in class. Too many material for tests
I think most people would say her class is fair. Your only graded on tests and your term paper. Everything on the lectures are on the test so take good notes. She doesn't use canvas but her class is definitely manageable. She gives an extra credit assignment which bumps your grade ex. B to a B+. you should definitely study a good amount.
this class was the most stressful. You are expected to remember specific dates, names, and times for every test. She doesn't use canvas so forget about keeping track of your grades. She leaves her students completely in the dark and you will never know what is going on ever. The exams are hard, one final paper, and extra credit paper
You are only graded on 3 exams which is 20% and a 8-10 page term paper that is worth 30% of your grade. Get ready to type a lot because she has no slides and doesn't use canvas. She's very sweet but the class is very lecture heavy so make sure you take good notes and study for the exams. The exams contain 25 fill in and 2 essays.
O' Donnell is a sweet lady, however, if u struggle with paying attention to long lectures, u will struggle. Notes/topics are unavailable; u have to go to class and take them yourself. I recommend studying for the exam essays by watching Crash Course videos on youtube. On exams, you are expected to remember specific people and dates of events
This professor reads from the textbook for the whole class. There is barely any communication between her and the students. You have to pay attention for the whole class and take really good notes or else you are doomed for the tests. Extra credit is a life saver. She is a super nice person though.
Lots of super specific tests. You have to study for this class or youll fail. Gives one extra credit paper that brings your lowest test score up one letter grade.
A wonderfully passionate professor. However, it is essential that you take notes for the entire lecture. She really looks for very specific facts in your papers and tests and will take points off if you forget them. No powerpoints, not a lot of Canvas resources, you really have to show up to class to pass. Super old school but I loved her lectures.
this class was the most stressful. You are expected to remember specific dates, names, and times for every test. She doesn't use canvas so forget about keeping track of your grades. She leaves her students completely in the dark and you will never know what is going on ever. The exams are hard, one final paper, and extra credit paper.
Professor O'Donnell teaches in a traditional lecture-based style, but her passion for the material is evident. Stay engaged, take detailed notes, and utilize Unstuckstudy alongside the textbook to prepare for exams. The workload is manageable with effort.
As a freshman it was an adjustment at first but she is a very sweet lady, you can tell her passion for history in her lectures. She's old school, no slides, no given notes, so you have to take good notes to pass this class. Everything she talks about is on the tests, as long as you have good study habits you'll be able to get a passing grade.
