Not bad in the beginning but she has got progressively more and more boring. From what I hear, Sabitino is the music prof to go with. She spends to much time going over the lives of the musicians, almost like she was secretly their stalkers.

I liked her teaching methods. She is helpful and i like the way she tells you about the composers.
A great professor - really knows her material and is always willing to explain if someone is confused.
one of my favorite teachers
Really knows her subject and works hard to make the class interesting. Always willing to explain; never makes you feel stupid for asking questions. She does want you to do the work and show up for class.
Well i don't think she is helpful at all and she is quite boring. She will make you feel very stupid when you ask her a question (if she calls on you). As far as helping you outside the class she won't unless you are one of her favorites. Good Luck!
Great teacher; high expectations but gives extra credit, always willing to help.
One of the best teachers I've had.
When you take one of Mary P. Ogletree's real classes, she is tough!
I learned more than I thought I would from an Intro to Music class. It was pretty basic information and once I understood her testing technique, it was pretty easy to get a B. I would recommend her.
She's very kind and the extra credit paper really helps. As a morning class it can be boring but her stories about the composers are interesting. She will help you get a B or A in any way she can. Tests aren't as easy as i thought they would be though.
At first her tests are hard b/c the doesnt make clear what she wants you to study out of the 200 pages covered on the test accompanied by the 20 pages of notes. Once you understand the tests, the class is an easy B.
She is hard when it comes to tests, you have to memorize music and be able to give information about it. Class is sometimes boring, but she works well with it and tries to add in humerous and interesting stories. She is very nice too.
For an intro class, I thought it was a little hard with all of the information she wanted to cover on tests. She is very nice though and will help you if you come to her office hours. Study your notes and also keep up with the book and you should do ok.
get decent grades and with extra credit youre flying high.semieasy tests(depends on chapt). once said that the classroom wasnt a democracy and being an edu major id like to say thats a philosophy hunny, not a rule so get over yourself
Fair, doesn't spoon feed you but gives a written study guide for every test which tells you what you need to know.
think she wrote the comments under mine, if i had to hear about her daughter again i was going to scream, she covered the material and all but was just kinda rude about not being interested
What she teaches in class is not on the test
Ogletree tries too hard. She wants to be a nice lady but she comes off as bitter. She gives study guides for her tests & if you do them, you will get an A. But, she just is not pleasant and music is her life. I would recommend her if your interest is music (EASY A for you). If not, pick another one.
She is really into music, don't take at 8:00 you will fall asleep. Not a bad professor though, study the review sheet and look over the chapters before tests. Tells lots of stories about her playing music, boring
Very nice teacher. Easy too. She get's off topic so easy and once she get's going, she's gone! Doesn't give much homework. Quizzes and tests are reasonable. Sometimes gets a little boring and longwinded, but overall is a good teacher.
I thought she was a good teacher; make sure to know everything that she gives you on the study guides and listen to the selections that she says will be on the test. If you review, you'll get an A or B with no problem.
She's alright...a few times she treated us like we were in high school but in general she's a decent teacher. Sometimes funny.
Fair, hard subject but does her best to make it interesting
She's a very nice woman, but she's not the best at explaining things clearly. She gets off topic a lot(her stories are amusing), but you sometimes wonder what you could've learned if she wasn't getting off topic. She doesn't seem like she has a sincere interest to help students do their best.
Good teacher. Cares about her students. If u r trying she will do her best to help.
She knows a lot about Music! Her tests are easy and she is such a nice person.
ugh i hated this class at 8am i was just another way of putting me to sleep! She does not ask around to see who is lost and likes to grade you on irevellant things that are assumed about the pieces.
She tried really hard to get your attention. As long as you pay attention and read over the notes her tests aren't that bad. Listening isn't hard. Do the extra credit paper, it helps and it is not that hard to do. She is very nice and isn't mean or nasty at all. Wonderful prof. TAKE HER :)
Knows her stuff; fair, good teacher
Not my favorite subject, but a good teacher. She is willing to help you if you get lost, and can be really funny at times.
She is wonderful. She knows what she's talking about and she is always more than willing to help you. She is very clear and will explain things again if ANYONE in the class doesn't get it. I'm taking her for all 3 music theory classes if I can!
BORING, BORING, BORING. SHE GIVES BAD NOTES. U HAVE TO ALREADY BE INTERESTED IN THE SUBJECT TO LIKE HER CLASS...
She's wonderful. She goes over the material slowly and is willing to spend as long as the class needs on it. She grades very fairly and does her best to give you the most points possible. Always willing to help. Great prof, definitely take her if possible
She's a great professor. Very nice. She's very clear with the material and offers help if you need it. Def. take her!
Easiest class I've ever taken. Very nice lady and she's very clear with her lectures.
as long as u go 2 class and take notes u should be fine. shes not the friendliest person tho, she has a major attitude problem and hates 2 answer questions.
she likes 2 tell stories rather than flat out lecture, which is easier. if u dont go 2 class u have no hope in getting a good grade. when she talks about the composers she acts like she knew all of them personally, that gets real annoying. she has an attitude problem but thats prob bc not many people show up 4 class then complain about their grades
teacher is kind of weird. go to class, take good notes, study the listening as much as you can. AND answer questions in class or she'll call you a stoner. ooopsies.
Friendly, knows her music theory, will do a lot to help u if u r willing to work.
Nice, funny, will work with u outside class, great professor
Very helpful. I didn't do well in the pre-req for this class and was nervous coming in. She helped a lot, doesn't take things too seriously, and I ended up with an A.
Great prof. Cares about her students, doesn't pile on homework, you have to go to class, though.
one word...horrible. i had a's in all of my classes but this one, i got a c! shes not very friendly either...stay away.
Great professor; one of my favorites. It's a hard class, with tough material, but she takes an easy-going approach. She wants to make sure we all get it.
Knows her subject, cares about the students and about good music, will do her level best to help you get through the course (it's not easy) if you do the work and come to class.
Good teacher. Sometimes funny, fair, knows lots about music.

As a violin teacher, Dr. Ogletree is awesome.
excellent teacher!
She's great!
Really understand theory; goes out of her way to help. Awesome.
She is a wonderful teacher and a great person. She will not leave you behind... unless you insist.
The course isn't easy but she's a great teacher.
Dr. Ogletree is very nice and very helpful. I don't know why anybody doesn't like her. As long as you at least make attempt at her class she will always be willing to help you. She also makes theory very interesting by peppering in lots of stories. Just try not to take her until about 11 am. She hates early classes, but won't take that out on you.
Helpful, knows her stuff!
Dr. Ogletree is amazing! She is very willing to go out of her way to help students. She really is fun :-)
She is an amazing teacher. She will always go out of her way to help her students. She tells stories a lot and really makes the class laugh!
Great teacher. Caring, funny, knows what she's talking about.
Very friendly professor! Liked her a lot. With all the extra credit, I ended up with a big fat A+. Homework was useful!
worst teacher i have had, rude, talks about pointless things don't take her
Knows the subject, explains everything well, and sometimes tells the best stories. Her class isn't easy but she's fair, and will work with you to make sure you understand.
Great teacher; knows the material, grades papers by the next class so you always know where you stand.
Dr. Ogletree puts a lot of effort into making sure her students understand the material. There is almost always an assignment...do the work, and you'll get through the class just fine.
Really good teacher; asks lots of questions, tries to help you find the answers for yourself. Knows theory inside and out. Do the assignments and go to class though!
Friendly, very willing to help! Makes sure we understand new material; reviews before exams. Homework counts a lot toward your grade so be sure you do it, and you'll be fine.
Great professor, knows her stuff, can be pretty funny, cares.
She makes every effort to make sure you understand. Do the homework and ask questions, and you'll do well. Great teacher.
Fair, often funny, knows the material inside and out. Take her.
Really cares about students. Makes a point of returning papers at the next class so you learn from mistakes. Won't leave you behind unless you blow off class and don't try. GOOD teacher.
She has a habit of immediatly choosing favorites and those she hates. If your the later, drop the class because no matter what you wont pass
Great teacher. You do have to show up and do the assignments, but she will work with you, clarify, and give you extra time and help.
Don't show up, don't do the work, don't pass. If you make an effort, she is a great teacher!
If you work hard, she will too. great teacher, nice person.
Dr. Ogletree is a very competent teacher and really knows the material. Her lectures are fun because she will go tell stories to make a point or an analogy. I am going to take her again. (P.S. I found the class easy, but some people had trouble with it. There were about as many A's and B's as there were D's and F's.)
Returns papers right away. Is happy to answer questions. Clear, often funny, great teacher.
Great prof.
Great violin teacher!
She is a sweet lady, but if you aren't a music major, you're going to have a difficult time. She is horrible at teaching in general. Puts very few things up on the board, and talks way too fast. She goes off into stories and doesn't portray what is important to know or not. Tests are far more difficult than they need to be.
Dr. Ogletree is the best professor you would ever want to meet. She gives great lectures. She teaches so well that 3/4 of the class were getting A's or B's on her tests.
Great teacher. I'd take her again if I could.
Prepared, organized, clear and funny. My favorite prof.
