great teacher, easygoing and very helpful
Sweet lady, outgoing, helpful, lets you turn some stuff in late
my drawing has drastically improved-she's great
she's AWESOME, attendence policy but really cool, awesome artist

Good Teacher.... Worth taking.
Awesome. Plays music in class + laid back + an amazing artist, makes art fun
It's not her fault this class is boring - she's an artist, not a lecturer
Great Prof. Give you believe in yourself and expand your boundaries
She'll tell it to you like it is...class doesnt deviate much from traditional art
she is the most talented stable, consistent and most of all Helpful, Taught me more than any other prof here beside conrad
Great teacher, enjoyable class. Assignments are very repetitive of Art 160. Allows students to re-submit projects for a higher grade
GREAT TEACHER! nicest woman ever, teaches a lot without making it too boring, lets you resubmit work, always willing to help, good sense of humor, AND she's very talented
Too easy!! She grades easy on projects! She also allows you to resubmit your projects for a much better grade. I don't know anyone with grade lower than an A!!
She is a great teacher. I learned a lot from her that I didn't learn in drawing 1. take her class if you can.
super mellow class...as a teacher not super strict on deadlines...easy grader...learned aswell
SUPER nice and very into art. one of my favorite class. it's hard to fall asleep in this class because she's so energenic and funny. assignments are so easy and you learn a lot!
best art prof i've ever had. gives you as much time as you need on assignments & helps you really improve your technique. she's very talented also.
She is such a nice professor, lets you resubmit everything, definitely an easy A, just don't forget to come to class, there is an attendance policy, but you will want to go to class because she is interesting and you actually do learn something about art
Easiest A i've ever received. Resubmits for everything and she gives hints on how to get full marks on it! Class = SLIDE SHOWS so sit at the back&take a nap if you want. Attendance policy is a ***** but for an A in a 3credit class..ITS ALL GOOD!!!
Such a nice woman. Very understanding, very cool. Realizes the course is a gened and teaches it as such, which doesn't mean poorly because I really learned a lot. You can slack off and get by, but if you pay attention you can really get a lot out of it
Obviously I really liked Shira. I PICKED her classes. She has a hippy vibe but that lends to her laid back character. At the same time, she expects her students to do their best. She rewards good effort and work with good grades. Very approachable.
I love Shira! I had never drawn before this class and I feel that I have really grown from her class. She is really helpful and starts from the beginning, no matter your experience. She is really laid back, allows you to resubmit projects, and allows you to turn things in late. Definitely take her!
Shira starts with the very basics, so it's a great class if you've never really drawn before. She's very very nitpicky during critiques but grades fairly easily. She also plays 70's music during class and can be pretty hilarious. Definitely recommend!!
Really easy class. Get tough skin for her critiques. Keep up with work. Can resubmit projects. Final was based on homework, still life, portrait, and final (composition). Fun class to just focus on your work. Definitely recommend her.
easy enough. good personality and seems to relate to students well, open to artistic freedom and ideas...but she can be VERY PICKY and will keep you in the studio for 3 hours if she keeps finding tiny problems with whatever project you are working on
She is a very good art teacher, i had alot of fun in this class. It was a fun and easy class..she is kind of picky when it comes to projects but she grades super easy..you can resubmit projects for a better grade..i would def. recommend her!i would take her again!
Such an easy class and a NICE teacher. Study guides for the few slide quizzes and the final, easy little critiques, and projects. She lets you resubmit anything you don't get an A on. Takes attendance but puts the notes on the board the first 10 minutes before showing slides which you can definitely sleep through and still get an A. TAKE THIS CLASS
This is such an easy class with a very nice professor! She knows so much about art and can actually keep the class interesting. I heard so many horror stories about GART, but she makes things pretty simple. Pay attention to all the stories she tells about each artwork and you'll do great! I'm pretty sure she's the best GART prof at JMU.
What a great class!! She just goes through painting slides during class and for the tests she tells you which vocab and artists you need to know. Very straightforward and understanding, and you also learn a tremendous amount of information on art (even tho it is a pretty easy class). She is hilarious and makes the class fun. HAVE TO TAKE HER!!
The easiest A i will ever get. If you just go to class and listen you are set. Actually try on the one page papers and listen... guarantee A! Great professor and really nice lady!
She is awesome. I was so relaxed in by the policies in this class that I was actually comfortable and listened to most of the information about the art. My major is business, and I liked the class. It was simple, but effective and probably the easiest A ever.
Very nice lady, always so happy. Really easy class, you just sit as she goes through slide shows. Several assignments that require very little effort. If you do not get 100 on them you can redo it and submit them to her for an A. Take her!! easiest A you will ever get
EASIEST CLASS EVER. Take her, you can go to any of the classes she teaches throughout the day. Attendance is not really mandatory but encouraged. Couple of quizzes and projects but she is a REALLY easy grader.
Super easy teacher! Totally recommend for anyone. BUT DO NOT BUY THE BOOK TOTALLY USELESS WASTE OF 100 BUCKS
Easiest class I have ever taken. Show up to class and do the projects. Tests are simple as long as you pay attention. Midterm and Final took me 15 minutes each to finish.
One of my favorite art classes to take. She is absolutely crazy and out of her mind but you have to love her for it. She is one of the best professors to have because she always puts your work first and only wants you to do your absolute best.
She is passionate, funny, crazy, and fun. All of the other art history teachers are incomparable. Definitely the best. TAKE HER.
put in maybe 2 hours of work all semester & wound up with a 100%!Several opportunities for grades(art projects,4 1page papers,3 image quizzes, a midterm & final.Doesn?t make non-artistic people feel dumb.Very high strung &doesn?t like people talking, but allows you to resubmit everything as many times as you want until you get a 100% Easy A
She is so great. Great, easy gen ed. Few assignments over the semester but they're insanely easy and take virtually no time. couple slide quizzes that are simple memorization. nothing hard. She really likes what she teaches and tries to make it interesting. TAKE HER:)
Love her- really interesting and funny teacher. Some of her stuff was really off the wall, but it was generally a good class and not difficult to do well in AT ALL- just go to class and do the assignments. You can even resubmit them if by some chance you don't do it right
just do the assignments, maybe they will take you some time. However, she is totally an easy grader. She is willing to answer ur questions, and she hopes she does help. An really good Ged class, and I learnt a lot. Anyway, TAKE HER.
She's awesome. Very easy class. No tests, three quizes - each 10 questions, and projects. The projects are not hard, each one usually includes a one page, double spaced, paper. She's a very easy grader! and Very nice!! take her!
Attendance is taken by a sign in sheet at the start of class. 3 absences before grades goes down. 3 slide quizzes and projects. This is an easy class in that she's not out to get you at all--the material is straightforward. TAKE IT.
Literally the easiest class at JMU. 10 assignments over semester, 2 of them being discussion board posts and another 2 being slide quizzes, the other 6 are one page papers that if she doesn't like it the first time gives you a chance to fix it. I literally got a 100, TAKE THIS CLASS.
She gave great feedback for our projects. I learned a lot from her class and now have a much greater appreciation for art and what it really means. Take her class. She is great!
class is SO easy! she's a really easy grader and the assignments are so easy! Easiest A i've ever gotten
This is the easiest class I have ever taken. You do NOT need to purchase the textbook.
Easy A. I strongly recommend taking this class with her to get Gen Ed credit. Easy assignments, you do have to go to class, don't really need the textbook unless you miss a class
Mary Shira is an amazing lady, take her for gened. Class is easy, attendance is mandatory, and her lectures are interesting if you have even a slight interest in art. I learned a lot. And work wasn't hard. A few quizzes make up 15%, the rest is 1pg opinion papers that can be resubmitted for full credit if you didn't get it the first time.
Ms. Shira was super nice and funny. I would definitely recommend her and take another class of hers if I could. This class was really easy, but interesting because it covered a lot of topics.
Easiest class at JMU. She is extremely nice and always energetic. Not boring. A few short 1-page papers mostly opinion. No tests. 3 extremely easy quizzes. She tells you exactly what you need to know for the quiz. Definitely easiest class for this cluster. Take her!
Mary is a very easy professor. You have a few projects that aren't hard at all. She's very lenient on late work and very approachable! Definitely recommend her
class is boring especially at 8 am.. but this is by far the easiest class i have taken. literally just show up and you can get an A. there are 3 slide quizzes which are super easy if you spend like a half hour the night before studying, and if you don't get full credit on an assignment you can resubmit for a 100. definitely a gpa booster
Taking this class was the best decision of my life. It is unbelievably easy and if you like art, like me, it's really actually interesting. There are 3 slide quizzes which are just memorization, a few assignments which are never longer than a page paper and maybe a drawing and then the final is a single page opinion paper. Great lady and an easy A.
Don't even like art and I would TOTALLY take this class again. All assignments are turned in online and can be resubmitted for a higher grade. No tests, just slide quizzes (shows 10 paintings discussed in class and have to give any 2 facts about then, super straightforward). You will need to get the textbook! Prof. Shira is one of my favorites!
Mary Shira is one of the best professors at JMU! Easily one of my favorite classes that I have taken here. Even though I am a business major with zero interest in art history the course was surprisingly interesting. Allows you to resubmit assignments for full credit (85% of grade), three slide quizzes (15% of grade). Very hard not to get an A!
This class is 100% a grade booster. Literally the easiest class. Projects that are fairly simple and you can resubmit until you get the grade you want. Slide quizzes instead of tests where all that's asked is two facts about paintings. Lectures can get a little boring but overall this class is great! Also Professor Shira is a great instructor.
easiest class I've taken at JMU AND it was an honors class. I had her for art200 and literally easier than that. Gives projects but they are easy. don't have to be artistic at all to take this class. Can submit assignments late w/ no penalty. can walk in late and she doesn't care. Loves to teach. super nice really helpful. TAKE MARY!!! gpa booster
Professor Shira is a super cute and kind lady. Her lectures seem to last forever sometimes, but she tries to lighten the mood a lot to make it more enjoyable. She's assigns weekly assignments that are super easy and you are able to resubmit if you're unhappy with your grade. Slide quizzes aren't too bad either. Overall an easy A.
Mary is the best! She is a very easy A. She gives take-home assignments to read a chapter and write a page (double sided) with words, pictures, charts, etc. Easy A and will let you do them again if you don't get a 100. There were no tests. She is a very fun lady, but you watch ALOT of videos in class.
Easy A and allows you to resubmit any assignment (aside from the in class quizzes.) Class may get boring though.
by far one of the best gen eds at jmu! she is very understanding and her class is an easy A as long as you do the work. you can resubmit any assignments and there are no tests! DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! only downside to this class is lectures can be long and you dont really need to take notes because its all online. attendance is also required.
She is Amazing- 5 pt. slide quizzes, no exams/ no final exam either. Very funny and enthusiastic. Love her. Gives extra credit. Makes class hell lot interesting. I also spent time out of class learning about art from her. She will spark an interest in you. i love her. anyday- MARY SHIRA!!!
This is the easiest class I've ever taken, but I wouldn't take her again. She interrupts you constantly when you're trying to talk. We have barely learned anything and she can be disrespectful. You're allowed to redo any journal assignment you get less than an A on, but if you want to learn something and not be annoyed all class, don't take her.
She's very easy on us; no exams, only weekly journal assignments where creativity is valued. We wrote one paper, and will have one group project at the end of the semester. She will get excited and talk over you. Sometimes journal instructions aren't clear, but really this is the easiest A you'll ever get.
Definitely the easiest A you could ask for. You can redo any assignment until you get the grade you want. We watch videos every class. There's one "research" paper and a group project at the end. She wants people to talk in class but then starts talking over them if she gets excited or disagrees with what they're saying which is SUPER frustrating.
It's impossible not to get an A, even if you put in the smallest amount of effort. After you turn in an assignment (usually a 1-page paper due every/every other Sunday night), she gives you feedback and gives you 2 more weeks to re-submit with edits. The final is a short paper, and no tests, only "slide quizzes" which are easy A's. TAKE HER
Great teacher, truly a professor who is organized and knows how to teach a class. Wish other teaches would be as organized as she is. She cares and offers the possibility to resubmit the paper if not received full credit. She is truly a gem. I am not that crazy after art but she made me have greater respect for some types of art.
- don't buy the textbook - very easy-- let's you resubmit assignments - a few slide quizzes - class is extremely boring and attendance is taken every class
Easiest A I have ever recieved. Do the assignments posted every week (they typically take 30 minutes), and study for easy slide quizzes (there were only three the whole semester). The final was a 250 word paper that took less than 30 minutes to complete. If you want an easy A, take Mary Shira. She can be blunt at times, but its usually for fun.
If you can get in - definitely take her. If you show up and turn things in on time it's impossible not to get 100 (she does corrections). She's very sweet and makes the class pretty interesting. I'm a finance major with no interest in art but I actually enjoyed listening to her lectures. No tests, only 1 page double space papers and easy quizzes
Hands down easiest class at JMU. Just finished 6 wk summer course and would highly recommend you take this. Mostly short 1 page papers and discussion boards. If you do something wrong or miss expectations, she lets you redo for FULL credit. I got a 0 on an assignment and re-did it next day and got a 100%. It is impossible to not get A+! TAKE IT!!!
This class is by far the easiest class I've taken at JMU. Shira keeps the class engaged and tries to keep it interesting. Ive had a 100% all semester. If you do bad on an assignment, she lets you resubmit for full credit. No tests. VERY EASY slide quizzes. You don't really need the textbook but it did help for the slide quizzes. Easy A.
Easiest class I've taken at JMU. Shira is hilarious and her lectures are interesting. There's plenty of assignments but she gives you so much time to do them, plus a redo if you mess something up. I wish I could take this course again
100% easiest class at JMU. Mini 1 paper writing assignments throughout the semeseter, if you don't get 10/10 she lets you resubmit it. 3 quizzes that are super easy. You get 3 excused absences. She keeps her lectures interesting and engaging. She is the nicest lady and wants everyone to do their best.
Mary Shira is truly an amazing woman. She makes class very enjoyable. She does take attendance, but there really isn't any point in skipping. She gives you quizzes on an artist and their piece of work, but tells you which ones to study. There are some discussion posts and papers, but all are super easy. No tests/final. Easy A.
Mary Shira is probably one of my favorite professors at JMU. If youre looking for an easy but fun gened please take her class. She lets you redo assignments, even if youve missed them, and gives no exams and some easy slide quizzes. The final paper is an opinion paper thats hard to do bad on. Take her!!!
Shira is a great lady, knows her stuff and very blunt when telling you what is wrong and right. Great professor and really wants you to do well while allowing you to freely express your creativity.
I loved taking her this semester!!! Such an interesting class and the assignments are not bad either. A few quizzes, that involve recognizing the piece. Other than that, small written assignments. She lets you correct mistakes on assignments for full credit back. Love her!!! take her!!!!
Easiest class I've taken at JMU. And the art she shows is super interesting. She doesn't shy away from the inappropriate stuff but I think that enhances the experience. There are no tests, just slide quizzes and they were just knowing the name and title of work, and a few discussion grades and papers. She's also so nice and charming!
Shira is so passionate and entertaining and the coursework is easy. There are 3 quizzes that consistent of memorizing different art pieces and then the rest are 1 page papers that sometimes have other parts, but I found all the assignments easy and fun. Ended with a literal 100% in the class so please take her if you can!
love her genuinely cares about what you are doing sarcastic but gives great feedback recommend
She is great. However, her class is so incredibly boring. There are no exams, but slide quizzes so you have to know the artist and painting from each chapter. You don't need to go to class because it all comes from the textbook. But she takes attendance so you have to go to class. The most boring class I have ever taken at JMU, but easy.
Shira is a gem, she tells you her grading policy upfront (Submit your assignments on time and if you don't like the grade you can resubmit them). She allows 3 EXCUSED absences but you have to go to class as boring as it may be. She makes class interesting with her jokes about art and its pretty interesting sometimes!
Just show up and pass, that's literally it. Three quizzes throughout the semester and a few easy assignments here and there (you can even resubmit work if you're unhappy with your grade). Awesome teacher and really loves what she does. Take this class for and easy A
mary shira is a great professor. genuinely cares about her field and is enthusiastic about her lectures. class can be a little monotonous at times but assignments are amazingly easy and we only have 3 quizzes per semester. textbook is helpful when preparing for quizzes. just show up and pay mild attention and you will get an A
Mary Shira literally wants you to get an A. You only get three absences so yeah you have to go to the class but you just have to write down a couple things she says. She gives "quizzes" every once and a while but they are only 5 points and she gives weekly homework. If you don't get a 100% on homework, she tells you why and you can resubmit. Easy!
Literally the easiest class I have taken at JMU. Assignments are all easy and she lets you redo them if you don't get the grade you want. Slide quizzes are the "haredest" part about the class and they are not hard.
This is such a great class! She talks about such interesting things, even people who aren't really into art would genuinely enjoy. Attendance is mandatory, however it's beneficial for you to go because on the in class quizzes, you have to know 2 good facts about the random art work she decides to quiz on, and if you don't go to class you'll fail it
Mary Shira is the best option if you need to finish your Gen Eds. She made learning about Art History interesting and all you have to do is come to class and memorize 10 paintings for the 3 quizzes. I finished the class with a 100%. Easiest class ever! Final was a 250 word opinion paper... got a 100% on that too. Take Mary if you get the chance!
This class was interesting, informative, and easy. Do your work and youll get a great GPA boost from this class. Shes a funny lady but I didnt appreciate her unnecessary political comments every class.
This class was one of the easiest classes I have taken at JMU. There are assignments almost every week but they do not take up much time and are very simple to complete. The slide quizzes do take a little bit of studying beforehand but those are the only test like assignments. Great teacher who can make the information seem more interesting.
Shira expects art prodigies in her intro level class. I logged countless hours in the studio after class to try and make my projects perfect only to fall short. The grades were entirely subjective even when you followed the rubric exactly. Final project impressed the class but not her. Final grade was rounded down just because she didn't like me.
She's super caring and her class is super easy! On the first day she even said "there's no reason why you shouldn't get an A in this class." There's a discussion post every friday and some short (250 word) papers. If you don't get a perfect score on a paper/discussion post, she lets you resubmit it for full credit!
There are weekly homework assignments that are very easy, a few slide quizzes, and a one page paper as the final. She lets you resubmit homework assignments for full credit if you get points taken off. She also gives you a study guide for the quizzes. The lectures are also interesting and lively. Overall, a great class and a great professor!
TAKE HER!! truly passionate about what she teaches and tries her hardest to make this gen ed interesting. That being said -- she understands that not everyone is an artist and grades based on effort, not quality. Class consists of projects and discussion boards on canvas. 10/10 recommend, easy gpa booster and great class!!
Professor Shira is the sweetest lady! This was the easiest class ever, I took it in the fall and we only had one assignment due every week and they weren't bad at all. No tests, no finals, and very few essays. Mainly consisted of discussion boards. Take her for Art200!!
Prof. Shira is AMAZING!! The class is so easy and assignments take 15 mins to do. She required a textbook but I didnt need it at all, no final/midterm. She is super sweet and responds fast, opens each week early to get ahead. I would take her 748385929x again if I could. LOVE HER!!! Easiest class/summer class I have ever taken!
Yes this class is easy, no tests, no quizzes, just discussion boards, and a few assignments. But I would not take it again just because she teaches it. She is kinda passive-aggressive in class. Will call on people to answer questions. which would be fine but her questions are asked in a weird way that doesn't make sense. The class should be online.
Shira is as easy as you can get. Don't get the textbook, even though she'll tell you to read/need it for your essays, you really don't. She gives you all the info u need if u even need it. Didn't require attendance until half class stopped showing and didn't email. If u email she won't be mad. Essays are easy one page, not strict. v nice lady
Mary is awesome. She knows this is a senior class and most people won't show up, but she still tries to make her lectures interesting. No attendance grade. 1 easy assignment a week that takes 10 minutes and she lets you resubmit for full credit. 50 mins MWF (Friday is "online" but you don't even have to do anything). Easiest class I've ever taken.
Professor Shira was so so sweet and enthusiastic! Her class was just lectures, but I actually found them pretty interesting. Discussion boards once a week and a few one-page papers here and there, but all super easy. She requires a textbook, but she presents all the information in lecture anyways so you don't need it. No tests. Easy A.
Overall one of my favorite professors so far! Professor Shira's lectures are interesting and very engaging. There are no exams or final for this class, just a few discussion board posts and one page papers about the chapters. She is an easy grader and lenient on late work.
Awesome teacher and easy class. You are graded on a few discussion posts which are easy and then one page papers that are also easy. You dont have to get the textbook or read to do well on them. Attendance isn't mandatory but her lectures can be interesting to go to. I really like her as a person.
she is the cutest lady ever i love her and would take her class over and over again. super great and interesting lectures, she takes attendance but if you tell why you can't come she is okay with it usually but i still love to come cuz she adorable and the class is pretty easy. no test just small projects
Easiest class I've ever taken. No tests or quizzes the only work you have are shorts assignments and a few discussions. She lets you resubmit your work if you don't get a 100. And is very clear about what she is looking for. She sends around an attendance sheet and asks you to email her if you cannot make a class. However, idk what it's used for.
Easiest gen-ed ever!! Take her if you don't want much work. Super nice and lets you do whatever you want while she lectures in class. No tests, quizzes, or exams!!
Mary Shira truly changed my view on life. The way that she talks is remarkable and quite entertaining. She will do anything to help anyone in her class receive an A+. Highly recommend her!
This is literally the easiest class that I have ever taken. Every single lecture is just her talking about different pieces of artwork, and I use it as a free period to do other work. She does pass around an attendance sheet to sign every class, but it doesn't really matter. Easiest weekly assignments. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK!
Mary Shira is a GREAT professor!! Her course is based on one-page papers, a couple of small projects, and short discussion posts. She does not believe in tests, quizzes, or exams. Her lectures are super interesting and she has a great personality. If you have the chance to take her ART200 class for a gen ed you SHOULD.
She is super sweet. Attendance is mandatory and her lectures can get boring. Still, the once-a-week discussion board and occasional project/250-word paper are super easy and she allows redos if you don't do well. Take her, shes super easy.
Easiest gen-ed you could take. Honestly didn't go to class for almost a month and ended up with a 99. Take it, you seriously won't regret it.
Super chill gen ed. No tests. Need a 96 to get an A, but you can correct any assignment for full points back. Professor Shira is funny and kind. I really enjoyed her lectures. She makes you sign in MW (Friday class is online and asynchronous). I missed a handful of classes for various reasons, but I emailed my honest excuse she didn't dock me.
Very easy class, no quizzes or test. Just an assignment or discussion board each week. Nicest lady ever.
I took this as a Maymester class, and it was a breeze. 12 assignments, most of which were discussion posts that took 15 minutes. Textbook really isn't necessary. You need a 96 to get an A, but you can resubmit assignments for full credit. As long as you pretend to put in effort, you'll pass without problem. She couldn't spell my name right though.
TAKE SHIRA! Easiest class I have taken at JMU. Interesting topics, fun conversation, super nice lady!
Easiest class I've ever taken. You get a lot of busy work but nothing that takes a lot of time or thought. Easiest A and she's so sweet. TAKE IT!
This is a great choice for a gen ed. Not too many assignments, easy online reading quizzes over chapters every week, a few discussion boards and a few easy one page papers. Mary is very sweet and made lectures interesting. She does take attendance. Take her!!!
Great Professor! Her lectures can be a bit boring at times but she is still very interactive! She is a super easy grader and if you don't do well on an assignment she lets you re-do it for full credit! Take her and you'll get an easy A!
Super easy gen-ed. No tests, and the assignments aren't bad, so as long as you do them, you'll get an A. She lets you resubmit assignments to get full credit. Attendance is mandatory, but she lets you miss a certain amount and is lenient as long as you communicate with her.
Very easy class and very easy prof. Lectures were literally looking at paintings. Didn't have hw other than reading a chapter in the book. She's a very nice prof and would recommend to people.
She is very knowledgable in art. She def has passion for teaching it and makes lectures about art not too boring. You don't really have to pay attention too hard tho, its a very easy course. She is also very understanding as long as you just email or communicate with her.
This is a great easy A for a gen ed, no tests! Only a couple simple writing assignments and 5 question quizzes on the textbook. You can only have 3 excused absences and you sign in on a sheet in class for attendance. It is so easy to be successful if you just put a drop of effort into the class. She's a super nice lady too. Highly recommend.
Gives valuable feedback on assignments. Lets students resubmit assignments for full credit. Need a 96 for an A, but can be done if you put the time and effort in. Only 100 points throughout the term, so cannot lose more than 4, although a very loose grader. 15 short quizzes and 10 assignments: 2 projects, 4 short papers, and 4 discussion boards.
Dr. Shira is an amazing professor! I took her for ART 200 over the summer, and I 100% recommend it. Although her grading scale is a 96 for an A, she allows multiple attempts on assignments to receive full credit. She gives great feedback on all work submitted. As long as you give some effort, you can finish with an A or B. She is the nicest lady!
The cutest woman ever to exist and is super passionate about what she teaches. Pretty hard not to get an A in the class, grade is made up of small chapter quizzes, small projects, and the final is a 250 word page paper. Take her class!!
Professor Shira's ART200 class is a super easy A. With no tests and lenient resubmission policies, along with unstuck study for quick study prep, you can easily ace this engaging yet laid-back art course.
Easiest class I've taken. Grade is made up of 5 question quizzes that are worth 1 point and a couple of one page papers. She is very lenient on resubmissions. Lectures were a little boring. No reason to not get an A.
She is super nice and really cares about what she's teaching. Some lectures could be boring but most were interesting. Assignments were very easy, can resubmit with edits, and due dates were flexible. Final was a 250 word min opinion essay. You'd have to try really hard to do badly in this class.
TAKE THIS CLASS AS YOUR GEN-ED. Very few homework assignments which you can turn in whenever you want to. Very few quizzes which she lets you retake as many times you want. All assignments are online. Class it's self is lectures but if she is very understanding of absences. She is a very nice professor. Super Easy!
While she is nice, she is such a hard grader for NO reason. She grades and critiques you like everyone in class is an expert art major... when most of us are not. No matter how hard you try, even if it's the bare minimum she grades like you're supposed to be the next Da Vinci or something. This is a Gen Ed no one cares that much!!!
She's very rude sometimes in class. She will say certain details are very obvious in different works of art but when you notice something else she makes a grand spectacle about how wrong you are. She is forgiving when it comes to discussion posts but personally I am not a fan of her lectures or her as a person.
Please Ignore the 2 bad reviews below this. Those students clearly are lazy and didn't try. I have a 99 in the class. Professor Shira is the sweetest lady you could ask for. There are only a handful of simple assignments (one being talk about your favorite color) if you are too dull to realize how easy this class is why are you at JMU. 100% Take!!
She's the goat. Easiest class I have ever taken and she graded really easily. Just do the work and show up and its an easy A
Yes there are no exams and it's a very easy class but attendance is mandatory (miss more than 5 and fail) AND she's genuinely the most obnoxious teacher ever. So painful to sit through. I would rather have exams. It's that bad.
super nice lady. took it for a gened and passed with flying colors. easy to succeed even if you don't care a whole lot. she does take attendance so i'd say go to class but tbh you can do other work during her lecture...
Very simple class for GenEd credit. Assignments are all online, either quick textbook readings with easy questions or small assignment with max 1 page papers. For assignments, she always gives feedback and allows you to correct it for full credit. Definately would take again.
All you need to do for an A is show up. There is only reading quizzes, no tests, no exams, just discussion boards, and small assignments.
Super easy, all you have to do is show up! Some of the projects cant be procrastinated but any mcgraw hill assignments can.
Easiest class ever, lowkey kind of boring but hard not to do well in the class. Theres like 3 disccussion boards, like two easy projects and at home quizzes, no tests though. You can not have more than 6 unexcused absenses but three excused abscenses which was tough having it at 8am. Would def reccomend this as an easy gen ed though.
The most difficult part of this class was that it was an 8 am. No tests, just open note quizzes that are 5 questions. A few one page papers and a couple projects. Everything was straightforward and easily doable. She was so sweet and clearly loves what she does, but sometimes cold calls if she can tell people aren't paying attention.
take this as the art gen ed box!! super easy class!! also, go to class, attendance counts as a grade, but you can do other homework or study during her class. no final either! all essays you write are minimum 250 words, so easy stuff
Take this as your art gened!! She is the sweetest the class is so easy. She really cares and wants to see her students do well. The only drawback was the absence policy but only because it was an 8am. Other than that there is no way you shouldn't get in an A in this class.
Love Mary Shira so much!! Such a great class for a Gen-Ed and it's impossible to not end with an A+! Highly recommend, even if it's an 8 am
