I got stuck in a learning community and this class was part of it. I thought I would hate it, but I loved it! The other class was English 50 with Mrs. Jensen. Both teachers are cool. I learned a lot and made lots of new friends. I would recommend this combination if you need both classes.

a very nice, funny, energetic woman who knows what she is talking about. she accepts late work to a certain point. you can re- do your assignments so you can get an A. if you do any group projects, make it interesting and you'll get an A. she is a breeze if your not lazy.

She s always very prepared for class. Her sylibas has all the HW assignments so you know which one are coming up and quzzes too. She is also very funny.

She made re-entry into college fun & very educational. The class is easy if you participate, read the textbook and complete the assignments. Regular quizes keep you on your toes and make sure you are learning. She has a great teaching technique that you don't find everyday. I would take any class that she is teaches.

This class should be a template for how online classes are conducted! Ms. Silva is always available,always! Responds via email within the day,even if its a holiday or week end. This teacher is so awesome! Everytyhing you do in this class applies to real life. She is really helpful and she's always full of energy. You have to read the book to do good on the quizzes. Other than that there are very few assignments besides 1 essay, 1 research paper and a final project. This class is super easy and fun. i reccomend her.

This is an awesome teacher. She makes herself available whenever it is needed. She truely wants you to succeed in class and life. The class itself was very helpful and kept you interested. There was no busy work. The hardest thing about it wa that you had to read a chapter a week (I dont like to read. Both teacher/class, highly recomended.

In my three years at MJC, professor Silva is the best instructor I have had. She is very helpful and always available. I took her online class, however he made time to meet with me twice and ALWAYS offered good advice. I have recommended her to all my friends and they all agree, this was not only an easy class, but very helpful for our futures.

Really wonderful teacher. Three hour class was pretty boring, but she tried to make it better with activities to get us up and involved. She was so helpful in creating an education plan and I could talk to her about everything. I love her Irish accent, too.

She understands that not everyone has their education mapped out and wants you to explore your options. She's very uplifting and understanding as well. She just wants to help!

You gain so much from her class, and not just about the need-to-knows about college but yourself and life. She always available for you - in person or email. The class is pretty simple. Lots of group activities and projects, but you get used to it after awhile. Do the work, show up and you'll pass.

I am so glad that I chose Mrs. Silva to be my online instructor. I am at MJC full-time and out of all my instructors, she has been the MOST helpful and organized. Everything is clear to understand and she sets clear instruction. She always responds quickly and she actually cares about her online students. Would choose her again if I could.

I absolutely loved my online class with Professor Silva. She was so helpful and responded quickly when I had questions. Some online classes are dry and feel dragged on, not hers. I learned so much from her and would gladly take another class taught by her.

Mrs. Silva is one of the best teachers I've had so far. She is very helpful and understanding. Her quizzes are so easy to pass that I wouldn't even study for them . However, we had journal entries in where we would have to write a lot in order to get full credit, but overall easy. Definitely would take her again if I could.

I am taking Study Skills 78 with Silva, and she is a gem. She will bend over backwards to assist you in anyway possible. She expects you to act as an adult, but give her your best work and your grade will reflect that hard work.

I absolutely loved this class. I had no idea what I want to do, and Mrs. Silva helped me figure out who I really was. She is such a caring teacher and a very inspirational one. The work in this class is focused on yourself, you learn about your interests and match them to careers. Easy class but very eye-opening. You will love her! She is amazing.

This is an easy A class if you do work and follow direction. Not sure what your major is this is the perfect class to take. By the end of semester you will have an idea what path to take and realize and learn things about yourself you did not know. Also you will know if you want to go to a CSU or UC. She is so supportive and available with help.

Class seemed hard for a guidance course. There was A LOT of work and expectations were high. Video chats every Monday, which counted towards participation but hardly anything was said in the chats. Almost all of the assignments worth a lot of points were crammed into the end of the semester. Best to work ahead

The class had more to do with life guidance then transferring but I recommend this class to EVERYONE! The work your putting in is all about YOU. You are worth working hard for. I find that knowing what I realized in this class has helped me evolve. I've looked back on the final project many times for inspiration in other classes.

Miss Silva's Guidance 120 was not a difficult course. She genuinely cares about each of her students and wants to see them all succeed. It's clear from day 1 that her plan is to make sure you pass with an easy A. The amount of quizzes, homework and reports/projects felt fair and I never truly struggled doing anything she asked. Overall, it was fun!

Mary is great. She really helped me get through the semester and boost my academic confidence. Her class really helped me learn how to do well in college. For a class that doesn't transfer the workload may be a bit much, but in the end she just wants the best for you. Also, there's tons of extra credit.

This was one of my favorite courses so far. She was really supportive and helpful. The beginning of the course might seem stressful or intimidating but you learn that she is actually really lenient with when you turn assignments in if she believes you want to succeed. She really just wants to help you, she repeats that all semester.

Its recommended for people who dont know what career to go into. Very great teacher and offers a lot of extra credit

Professor Mary Silva is a delight. As long as you do the homework, this class will be easy. There's a fair amount of writing, but it consisted of answering journal entry questions in the textbook. Great teacher and really wants you to pass. If you do the work, there is almost no way that you will fail. However, there is a LOT of work on a weekly basis. It is mostly introspective journaling, so not very hard, but just time consuming and annoying at times. Sometimes goes off topic in lectures but not too bad, they are usually only 15-20 mins.

Really good professor! The work is well divided and it's not crazy time-consuming. Everything is laid out easily and if you follow instructions and try it's an easy A. Mary cares more about the dedication that goes into the work than the overall quality so if you try then its an easy class. Teaches you a lot about yourself too!

This class was very amazing. Helps going in depth in the career of your choosing and Professor Silva made this really helpful. Her class has lots of reading but the readings were interesting because it was about people's experiences in college. Gives great feedback on papers. I would recommend taking this class along with COLSK100 in the same term.

TAKE HER INPERSON! Mrs.Silva is truly a very respected professor. She is amazing and truly cares for students. She offers grate advice and support for all her students. Assignments in this class do not feel like assignments, but more so trying to better understand ourselves.

I took Guidance 120 last semester not really knowing what I wanted to do in college, and I came out of it with a somewhat comprehensive plan for my future. Professor Silva was great at giving feedback, answering questions, and helping you find a path for college. On top of this, the coursework is relatively light; just a few large assignments.
