y'all are retarded if you thought this class was hard. this was the easiest class i've had all semester, and she did a really good job teaching it and making it understandable.

Terrific prof. Really works hard and will make time to help students who are willing to make an effort.

Mrs. Setzer made chemistry fun to learn as well as intersting! She is very clear and gives many examples. Her tests are multiple choice and are just like the notes, study outline, and homework problems. Lets you make up lowest test and gives quizzes for bonus points! Very helpful and nice! Take her!

Possibly the best prof at UAH. Very helpful and clear and actually covers the material she test on. Now theres a thought, teach the material you give test on, what an idea.

Mrs. Setzer is the best. She made chemisty much more understandable. It is not my best subject and I did pretty well in there in the end.

Hilarious... that's definitly one word for her. She's very helpful and answers pretty much every question... even if you are the annoying girl that asked about plasma in plasma TVs... haha. She's easy to understand, and she posts everything as quick as she can on WebCT and that helps a lot.

Dr. Setzer is a very helpful professor. She also gets her students interested in learning.

Mrs. Setzer uses a lot of visual examples to explain chemistry. She makes chemistry very easy to learn.

Mrs. Setzer is the best science teacher I've ever had. She explains things VERY clearly and she really cares about the students (even though it's a huge lecture hall class). She makes chemistry as easy an interesting as you can make it, and I don't really like chemistry! I would recommend her to anyone.

Mary Setzer is the BEST SCIENCE TEACHER EVER!!! She is so funny and so helpful, you can ask her a question and she will keep explaining until you understand it, and responds quickly to emails!!

Ms. Setzer is so sweet and helpful; it's impossible not to like her. She is good at explaining concepts but I had a hard time following her on problems because she just brings them up on the Powerpoint. She answers her emails quickly and offers extra resources to help you succeed. And her lame chemistry jokes may sometimes help you remember things!

She is the best. She's a great professor and always in a good mood during class and ready to help you. Even though her classes are large (100 or more) she cares about each individual student. Highly recommended.

BEST CHEMISTRY PROFESSOR YOU CAN TAKE! Very helpful teacher, and her lame jokes are actually funny and help you remember a lot in the class(the ether bunnny was my favorite). Tips: Don't get overconfident, take RECITATION! two, attend class. three, do not cram for her tests, it will come to haunt you. four, take her class ;)

One of the best teachers I've ever had. I averaged about a mid-B on my tests, but came out with an A in the class because of all of her bonus questions! You need to go to Recitation, just to get those bounus points, that got me from a B to an A. You can tell she really cares about students and what she is doing as well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Although her class was a tad boring at times, she is a really good teacher - especially for having a class of around 140. She gives a huge amount of bonus points and her tests are not that hard. She told really lame but funny jokes, and they actually helped me remember the material. Also go to recitation! I would definately recommend her for 101.

The class was harder than I thought it would be, but I learned a lot. Mrs. Setzer is an awesome teacher though and really helpful if you get stuck.

A FANTASTIC teacher. I did not care at all for the topic of chemistry, but Mrs Setzer made everything interesting and she was very helpful. She is VERY understanding and is there for the student. If youre required to take ch 101 for anything, TAKE SETZER. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT AT ALL.

Mrs. Setzer is just so sweet. She tries to crack a lot of jokes. Sometimes it's funny because she'll tell one and no one in this huge auditorium is laughing but her...but it's okay. Her classes are not really difficult, and her grading scale is probably the best u could ask for. It actually benefits to ask this science teacher questions.

Ms Setzer is a good teacher, she sticks to the syllabus. gives a lot of OWL assignments but i here spring 2008 semester was the last for this, so lucky everyone else. She is very lenient in grading. tests are somewhat hard, but all do all homework to compensate and you can easily get a B or above.

Excellent teacher! She provides previous semester's exams and exam keys! She makes the lectures fun by being silly and she breaks down most concepts into cave man style. Piece of cake. :) She really really love her job and she cares about the students. If you fail it's your own fault.

You want to try to get her if you're taking chemistry. She gives very clear, interesting lectures and is always there to help if you need it. I hated chemistry in highschool, but now found that I really enjoy it. I guess that having a good teach makes all the difference.

Her class is not easy but if you come to class everyday and print out notes & fill the examples..bring your clicker to class to get bonus points you can pass...4 tests & a final and you can retake lowest test score. You MUST come to class in order to understand though. But she is a very caring teacher and wants the best for her students!

She is a great teacher for 101. She prepares students for tests more than any other teacher i have had. It's a shame the other chemistry teachers at UAH are complete garbage. Avoid Scholz at all costs when taking 121.

I had her for both Elementary Organic and Intro to Chem. She was awesome. Best teacher I've ever had, and she gives extra credit for being in class. If you need a recommendation for anything, she will write it for you, too :)

She gives bonus points out like no other teacher I've encountered. She gives you printable ppt slides that you take to class and fill in the blanks. I never touched the book. Go to class every day and pay attention and you'll get a good grade in the class. If you're confused, go to the PASS sessions, they really helped.

Mrs. Setzer is a wonderful teacher. She thoroughly explains everything. It is very obvious that she truly knows her subject. She gives a copious amount of bonus points. Her homework and tests aren't difficult. She is very helpful. It is very apparent that she wants all of her students to succeed. I recommend taking her class.

I did horrible in chemistry in high school but I came out of Mrs. Setzer's class with an A. You definitely should come to class everyday bc she gives out plenty of bonus points, which is one of the main reasons why I got an A. Also, you're allowed a makeup exam; take advantage of it. Her tests aren't too hard but the Mastering Chemistry HW is a headache. You really don't even need to read the book; her notes are detailed enough but you have to fill in the blanks. I definitely recommend her.

Best professor I've ever had (second degree student). She was super clear and taught perfectly. All you have to do is pay attention in class.

Never used the book. All HW is online through MasteringChemistry. Grade is based on a point system. 4 chapter exams, strong acid quiz, and the final. Uses the clicker to take attendance. Posts notes, lectures, old exams, and outlines on ANGEL. Allows one makeup exam before the final. Seating chart for exam days. Gives a huge amount of bonus points.

Ms. S is simply wonderful. She has very clear and concise teaching style. Her exams are exactly like her study exams. She gives bonus clicker questions and takes attendance. Attendance is helpful cuz she hints at what you should place more emphasis on. I didn’t get an A in any of my tests but got final A because of extra bonus pts and hwk. TAKE HER

Tries hard to keep the lectures interesting; not boring at all. She is very friendly and fair. Perfect study exams. Lots of bonus points- I finished with over a one hundred final grade.

Best CH101 teacher. Easy to understand. Passionate about subject. Clicker points can bring you up by half a letter grade.

GREAT professor. Just show up to class, do the homework (and if you have trouble with the homework, she WILL help you if you ask her!), and study the old exams she provides on her ANGEL course page. And if you come to class every day, you can rack up a bunch of clicker bonus points which will substantially boost your overall grade.

I loved Mrs. Setzer and I'm sad that she's not teaching General Chemistry this coming semester or I would take her again.

The great thing about this class is that any attendance, exams, and extra credits are done by the Clickers. In Fall of 2014 she had two consecutive lectures, and she gives you the option of going to either one of them. This class is great.

Take her. She knows what she is doing, and is very helpful if you have questions. Shes super flexible about the homework and will extend the due date if you need it. (Dont abuse that privilege though, itll get you at the end of the semester.) Her tests are tough, but if you pay attention and study, you will be fine. Allows 1 makeup test.

The class is tough, but Setzer will work with you! She gives homework extensions easily. While tests are hard, you can be saved by homework, attendance, and extra credit points. Meet her for help outside class & she'll do her best to pass you. Mary is an angel in disguise.

I wish I could highlight and bold "Gives extra credit." Seriously, she gives so much. If you show up, you get attendance points. If you get clicker questions correct, you get extra credit. I would have had an A if I hadn't skipped class all the time. Tests can be tough, but she gives great study guides. Prepare for hilarious, punny dad-jokes.

Setzer was passionate about Chemistry, which helped a lot because I hated it. She also does her best to keep the attention of a 100+ person class. Go to class, do the homework, and you'll do fine.

Gives A TON of extra credit, even on the online homework (you need an access code for this). Puts up old tests online for you to study from which are exactly what the test will look like. Textbooks not needed. TAKE HER!!

She's awesome! She is willing to help you anyway she can even with the lab that she doesn't even teach. She gives her old tests online and that is all I ever study. I have 115% in the class. There is online homework, but it's not hard.

Mrs. Setzer is a great, lighthearted teacher. I had her for chemistry 101 and decided to jump into elementary organic chemistry right after that. Having said that, the material wasn't as hard as I had expected, but I still don't understand the process of reactions between benzene rings (a good chunk of the material) and got out with a B+.

Amazing professor. Takes every opportunity to reinforce material covered in previous classes. Makes subject material understandable. Lots of extra credit points. Homework relevant and helpful for understanding. Engaging. Generous with extra credit. Fair. Chemistry puns.

I cannot speak highly enough of Mary Setzer! Posts lecture notes online. Gives tons of extra credit. We had 3 multiple-choice exams (all with extra credit) which were very similar to her old exams she posted online. My word of advice: when she says memorize something, memorize it! The final is departmental so study carefully for it. Great teacher!

Professor Snow is an amazing teacher. She loves what she teaches, give lots of resources to pass tests, gives lots of bonus opportunities, and cares about student success. My only complaint is she doesn't allow phones or laptops. If you take out a phone or laptop she will call you out in front of the class. She doesn't care to embarrass you.

Great professor! Show up to class, do the homework and study for exams and its an easy A. I finished with over 100% she gives LOADS of extra credit.

Great professor. Hardest part of the class was the online homework, but you can basically guess until you get the right answer and still get credit. She offers so much bonus that it's hard to fail as long as you put in a reasonable amount of effort, but you HAVE to go to class to get the bonus points.

TAKE HER! I would take her every semester until I graduate if I could. She explains concepts very well. PLENTY of extra credit. Lecture recordings, notes, study guides, and old exams (which are nearly IDENTICAL to the ones she will give) are on Canvas. Her class never felt like a burden, yet I felt like I was learning every day. Loved having her.

She gives generous opportunities for bonus points and offers many chances outside of class to review and better understand material. She makes the lectures interesting, shes funny, and shes available to help students. I greatly appreciated her and would take a class with her again.

My favorite professor at UAH so far! I took her for CH101 and 201. Her classes are straightforward with lots of opportunity for bonus points and pretty easy to pass if you're going to lecture and doing the homework. If you miss lecture she posts recordings on Canvas. She also posts her old tests, which is awesome! She's really helpful and kind.

Prof. Snow is the best Chemistry teacher I have ever had. She genuinely wants her students to succeed, and will do anything to help. She gives really easy extra credit. As long as you do the homework, watch her panopto's, and do the quizzes you should do well in her class. She's very understanding and very easy to work with. Really great teacher!

Professor Snow really cares for her students & wants everyone to succeed. I took her online, and it was very clear what was expected of you and easy to follow along with the assignments. Her class may be a bit difficult if you dont have a chemistry background, but if you utilize other resources while studying and doing homework, you will be fine.

I definitely struggled with her Online Organic Chem, but I loved her as a teacher! Even when you struggle, she is willing to help!

Fantastic chemistry professor, but, if you don't need specifically need chemistry for your major, don't take chemistry. If you do need chemistry or enjoy it I highly suggest Dr. Snow.

I struggled a lot in high school with chemistry. However, Professor Snow helped me fall in love with the subject again. The lab was online as well which was fun. Our class took frequent quizzes and only one was pretty difficult. Retakes are offered at the end of the semester. Definitely go to PASS for this class it saved my grade for sure!

The most fun I've ever had in Chemistry! Dr. Snow's lectures were so much fun and I learned a lot both about the material and about how it applies to the world around us. She was super helpful and made the material easy to understand. If you've slogged through CH121 and 123 and are hoping for something easy and fun, you've got it with Dr. Snow!

This class was all online. SUPER easy. If you have a small background in chem youll be FINE. Offers tons of extra credit. Its also very easy to get ahead. Dont stress about this class. If you understand basic chem youll be fine.

She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. If you put in effort she will help you pass. I had trouble with her organic chemistry class, but that's because it's a hard class. She was the only teacher I could have passed under.

If you listen and take notes it's as easy as chemistry can get. She's really caring and makes an effort to help and be there for students. She is really easy to meet with outside of class. The lectures are great and follow along with the test pretty well as well as the homework. She even has some good science jokes!
