Dr. Texiera is the best instructor I have ever had. She is my insperation. She is an accomplished Black woman who is involved in her community, and she is living proof that you can be anything you want to be.

Please listen to her, but remember that there is always teo sides of a story... She always uses facts but the inferences she makes from those facts are opinions and please don't confuse the two.

This was a good class to take. She expected you to do a lot of reading and writing for the note cards, but it was worth it. Her tests were not bad, was all from lectures and reading. She taught me a lot a I recommend her to anyone.

She offended several students in the class while expressing her views various topics. However, the matieral she presents is very interesting. Dont take her class if you are unable to read 30 pages per night, and do notecards on the reading...

Profressor Texeria can best be summed up as one who believes what she is teaching (which is good for a sociologist). Don't expect anyone to pander to your opinions. You will learn a great deal from one of her classes. The readings are quite complex, and require a lot of attention. The class isn't too difficult if you nail the reading. Overall, I recommend one of her classes.

great professor just don't expect and easy ride

I had Texiera my fist quarter here and I purposely signed up for her SOC 100 class. She is a great teacher and expects you to work hard. I learned a lot from her class. It is easy to get a good grade if you want it.

I acutally enjoyed her class. Being that a lazy person that I am, I never wanted to do the reading. The assinged weekly reading was sometimes treacherous. The key to passing her class is just to DO the weekly assingment. I ended getting a 13 out of 20 on the final and still walked out with a B+. Take her class!!!

Easy! Just do the hw every thursday by midnight and you will be passing! He had some great debates in class! She just likes to stir up the class with racial issues! She is not bias!! She equally explains the history of every race... and I believe she is a christian!

GREAT professor!!! People who are close minded will have a hard time with her classes. Its outrageous that people say she is **** etc etc. I am white and she has been nothing but kind and helpful to me. Loved her classes! Looked forward to them and they were very interesting!

You know what Dr.T is strait forward. She tells you what she expects and how to go about doing it.If your lazy and looking for an easy way out..take another class. I received an A in her class with ease..Do all the weekly assignments and do extra credit just in case and you will pass. I know for sure you will never be bored!Good Luck!

Excellent professor...

Easy!This teacher was super easy to me. She gave tons of extra credit so take advantage. She has like 6 T.A.s who grade your work which I think they had graded easy becuz I wrote whatever on a book review & got full credit. She has you go on a WalkaThon for 100 easy pts. Attendance is 100pts.I didnt even study the final and got 5 wrong. Great Prof!

Her class was pretty good. The test is on nothing but her lecture which she does not post on blackbored. 2 midterms and 1 final, all online. weekly analysis of a film and the chapters. Overall not bad, but if your not open minded to accept all opinions you WILL have problems getting along with her. She is very opinionated. Overall not bad at all

Easiest class EVER!!! She needs to make it more challenging. She gave so much extra credit. This is college there should not be any extra credit! All tests were online so you could look up every answer and get 100%. Hmwk every week sucked and she was bias against types of people.

This class was very easy! The assignments are straight forward...There is one homework assignment a week, and one three page paper. The tests are online open book. My only complaint is it felt like she hates white people. It was very uncomfortable at times.

Best teacher ever. she's extremely easy. she gives out a lot of extra credit. Her test are simple not hard at all. she does give out alot of homework weekly. but its all from the reading of the textbook and the chapters are short.

Easy class HAVE to go to class or youll miss alot, MAX 1pg of hw due saturdays from the book or film she assigns. Midterms&finals on BB (openbook) Shes funny when it comes to lectures also, recommend!!

You must go to class everyday. She takes roll. Must take notes and she gives lots of extra credit! Homework is really easy, she loves debates and she is real cool. Her test are all online. I say if you need to take sociology or any other class take her as your teacher. She is an Easy A.

This class is not hard, but there is a large amount of busy work. But if you show up everyday (attendance is 1/4 of your grade) do all your homework and her service learning project you can get at least a strong B in the class Make sure you meet the writing length requirements is she tell you 1 1/2 pages do at least at or she will give you a zero

Okay there is a lot of work but nothing hard. Do the service project it seems like a lot but if you take a friend then it goes quick and its only one saturday! Attend class worth a lot. Take notes cause there not on Bb. Do weekly hw and meet pg requirements! Overall nothing hard at all. Lectures are very good. Take her for an easy A!

Dr. T was my professor and mentor in undergrad and thanks to her I was a McNair scholar, I went to a great grad school (USC) and I am now a professor of Sociology! She changed my life and taught me so much. She is AMAZING! However, she did ruin movies for me, because now I always look at characterization and stereotypes ;( but it was worth it!

She is a good teacher and I will be taking her again in the next quarter. No laptops, and she tends to change her course outline a lot but overall I enjoy her and her passion for teaching and the current budget crisis.

all exams were online, make sure you do every assignment and attend every class...they add up quick..one saturday thing that all you do is walk ..super easy...you might leave the clss angry at her everyday..

She is awesome! Speaks her mind, but truly informs students about Race and Racism; keeps you entertained. I was always excited to go to class. Her class educated me beyond in the classroom and I can truly say changed my way of thnking of the world around. If you care you will easily pass this class. Just attend class to turn in attendance card.

To get an A you have to do everything, but don’t worry it’s not graded harshly. I would be surprised if 80% of the stuff is ever read. Take this class

Amazing interesting teacher ! Her lectures were always filled with laughs. 2 midterms 1 final. Put details into your study guides & not just the basics & you'll be fine . I had an A all quarter but on the final it brought me to 88% . Overall great class& professor!

Professor Texiera is very nice and kind. She has weekly assignments but are very easy, her exams are all open note and simple if you review before the exams. At times the lectures are completely out of topic but they are funny overall. Take her!

She is a great professor! Gives study guides and goes over them during class. She does count attendance.

What a great class! She is very helpful and knowable about the subject. Yes she has assignments due every week and yes you have a choice to do the walk-a-thon (which you don’t have to walk) or a four page paper, which one would you have done. This class makes you want to get involve in the community. I am glad I took this class.

Need to BUY the book, you'll have to write a critical summary about the readings up every week on chp. of the book, their are sometimes a film where you also have to write about (films aren't boring). Go to every session class (counts attendance,Easy points) that can make a difference in your grade. Test can be kinda tricky but overall its easy.

One of my favorite professors in the Sociology Department! She is such a helpful professor! Her lectures are super interesting, because she has so much knowledge on the history of this subject. Her lectures are very interactive, because she enjoys listening to students opinions. You are guaranteed a good grade if you show up to every lecture!

Great professor. I love her. I have taken her whenever I could. Do the work and you will be fine. Not a hard class at all. She does require some reading material and it is needed if she does assign it. Attendance is mandatory, she grades you everyday for it but its worth it. Life changing course.

Weekly HW, tests on random facts, posts study guide (90% not on tests) AFTER you do the homework, making you go back & rereadwatch a 2nd time to find random facts, will not post power point to blackboard,volunteering: 4 hours, $20, last years convoluted ambiguous syllabus, does swear, most recent material is 40 yrs old, & has power point typos.

I love this class. She's great and her class is great. I actually enjoy going to class. I say take her! I'm really glad I did!

She gives out a lot of reading assignments but mid term is easy it is all based off the readings. The Midterm is based on one of the books you need to buy and the final is about the textbook. She provides lots of extra credit.

Awesome Professor who gives great lectures. Class consists of weekly homework assignments and three exams. She offers up to 20 points of extra credit.

I loved how blunt she was about everything she felt was right and not right. Do NOT talk during her lecture or she will call you out. She loved hearing comments about how students felt and it felt like she truly cared. Lectures are super interesting!!

Dr. Texiera is an amazing professor who enjoys to teach the subject. Overall there is hw every week as well as readings, there is a mid term on a book and final(cumulative) o the textbook, and service hours(4hours) was required for the class. Dr. Texiera explains topics in depth and also will give extra credit.

I loved her. Great professor, easy A. She really enjoys teaching and she makes the lectures interesting. There are exams but you are able to use your notes (so take notes).Weekly homework assignments on the reading. And you have to do participation for points outside of class.

I took this class spring 2021 online. She assigns a book to read and has questions to go along with the chapters (midterm)Then we had weekly films and a one page review, and lecture videos (Q&A final) Theres no way you can fail unless you don't do the work, don't expect to pass without doing anything. Follow the rules and you''ll pass. Easy A

Midterm is open notes. 5 CORP meetings & 2 extra credit. Homework weekly. After midterm its a film summary weekly. She canceled the final (bless her heart) and just had us turn in the study guide questions. For the CORP meetings it is mandatory to put 3160 after your name or you wont get credit. I recommend this professor and would take again!
