MAYRA IS A WONDERFUL TEACHER. SHE TEACHES SPANSIH 101 VERY WELL SO THAT YOU ARE PREPARED FOR SPANISH 102 OR 201. HER CLASS WAS VERY HUMOROUS SHE IS A VERY OUTGOING PERSON WHICH REALLY SHOWS IN HER CLASS. SHE IS A GREAT TEACHER AND HER CLASS IS THE BEST.

Everyday she will come into class with a veinti cafe americano and a HUGE smile on her face. She is one of the best professors on this campus that has one of the most impressionable personality. Professor Toldedo is a very energetic, funny teacher. She does an awesome job teaching the information in a way that is easy to understand, I never took spanish before. I highly recommend her as a professor. If needed, adjust the rest of your schedule around her classes so that you can take her class. Great looking and awesome personality!!

She was a really nice and easy teacher. She usually wouldnt start a new lesson unless everyone in the class understood the concepts. She wanted everyone to get an A in the class. I highly recommend her!

She's still growing as a professor though. Highly recommended! Very understanding, doesn't expect you to be fluent. Taking her for SPAN 201 next semester and can't wait!

I absolutely love her. She is the sweetest teacher and although she really wants everyone to do well, you actually learn in the class... it is not useless. I would definately recommend her! She is a lot of fun, very nice, and fun to just sit and talk with.

I got an A on all my tests without any prior studying, just do the few assigned homeworks (all online) and pay attention in class. She does take roll so show up

She is a very nice teacher and she is very easy to understand. She talks half in spanish and half english. She tells you what is going to be on the tests. The only homework is online and it's not due til the day of test. Very easy. I highly recommend taking her. She does activities out of the book and she makes sure you understand everything. :D

Incredibly helpful professor. She speaks in English most of the time so this is the professor for you gringos like myself who didn't want to struggle with the language barrier. Very helpful, comprehensible lectures. Don't miss class! You will be lost! She likes talkative classes, so feel free to speak, but be sure answer in Spanish when available.

I took this class Spring 2012 and I really enjoyed it. In high school I took 3 years of spanish, so this class was pretty easy for me. I recommend taking it with Marya, she was really nice and easy-going. The in-class work was manageable, there was always study guides for tests, and there wasn't too much homework.

Absolutely loved Prof. Toledo-Yildiz! Best language teacher I've ever had. Very kind & down to earth! Speaks to the class mostly in English so we understand what she wants from the class, but of course with a little bit of Spanish thrown in as well. Explains the material very well. If you have to take spanish she is hands down the best teacher!

My favorite spanish prof. She knows that most of us knows very little spanish so she isn't going to teach it like we are in a foreign country. She is VERY funny and everyone feels engaged. Must take her!

This teacher is amazing! She is down to earth, funny, smart, nice, and very understanding. Do your homework, try on the test, and you will get a good grade. She also helps you out ALOT! if you need it. And she tells you exactly what will be on the exams. Everyone who takes her will love her!

I loved her as a Spanish teacher! She talked in Spanish, but quite a lot in English as well. Quizzes and tests aren't too hard if you study!

Professor Toledo- Yildiz is an amazing teacher I took her for 102 & 201 if you need any extra help she goes above and beyond, she is my favorite teacher I have ever had at the University. She truly cares about her students success, and she loves teaching Spanish! She's an amazing teacher and extremely helpful!

She was FANTASTIC! Slows things down & really makes sure everyone understands before she moves on! There is work but it's nothing that can't be done. I received a B+ & I was horrible with Spanish before her!

If you have a question and not able to make it during office hours send her an email and she always replies. Easy class and it was fun. Be prepared for at least one speaking activity. The tests are straight forward as well.

Prof. Yildiz is seriously the best. I took Spanish in high school and loved my teacher a lot so I had high expectations for her and I was not disappointed. She always made class interesting and kept her lectures short and to the point. Many times we got out early, especially on Fridays! Her class is very easy as long as you keep up with your work.

Professor Yildiz is honestly the best Spanish professor I have ever taken. She really cares about you as an individual and is very empathetic to those who struggle with the language. She also has the best humor which is a definite plus. There's a lot of in class group activities to help you practice and online homework as well.

All homework is online just buy the access code only because it comes with an ebook. Attendance is mandatory but she will let you skip 3 times, after that each absence is -15 points. Gives you an extra credit chance to make up and absence. Easy A but HW instructions were in Spanish and we couldn't understand the directions.

She is an excellent professor who will always help if you need it. It clear she loves her job and she excels at it.

I've taken this professor for both Spanish 102 and Spanish 201. I have to say, I have not encountered a more reliable, respectful, approachable and helpful professor such as Yildiz. Although the difficulty of this class is perceived as low, it does show how much time and effort Yildiz puts into her students learning. I absolutely recommend her.

Funny and entertaining. Frequent quizzes (good thing). Some extra credit. Very minimal homework. (Sometimes a good thing. You'll have to take the initiative to study more if you feel like you don't have enough homework.) Too many group or partner projects. (Not ideal if you're extremely shy) :( Always gives you a straight answer.

Professor Yildiz is hands down the best Spanish professor I have ever had. She really cares about her students and will put in the effort to help you out as long as you do the same. Her lectures are never boring and she is so sweet. She understands that Spanish is difficult and will do her best to make it easier for you.

I absolutely LOVE her. She is so awesome and really wants you to learn the languae not just pass the class. There is a quiz almost every week, tests about once a month and little vocab skits for every chapter. If you study and put in the work you won't have any problems. My favorite professor at CSUSM! She is so funny and lectures are so engaging. She makes Spanish very easy and the content is not too difficult. I highly suggest attending each class to get everything. She also offers extra credit in different ways so going to class is a must.

Hands down, my favorite Spanish professor that I know of. She is super nice and will give almost full credit on assignments just for trying. She really displays this care and concern for all her students and tries to make the course as convenient as possible. I am currently unable to name a professor that is more considerate for her students.

Took spanish 101 with Professor Marya, and she is a real gem. The class was very easy and online, she responded quickly to my emails and was very helpful. If you are looking for a fun easy class, I recommend this one. I would take this professor again!

If you ever get the chance, definitely get Professor Toledo-Yildiz! She responds to all of your questions over email and her online lectures are pretty straightforward. Tests are pretty easy and lots of points come from Homework. Participate in the Forums for easy points!

One of my favorite professors this semester! She genuinely cares about her students and their success. We used the textbook in class every day and homework was due at the end of each chapter. I wish I could take her class again!

Such a nice lady. Will let you turn in late work whenever you just have to email her. I missed two 50 point assignments and she let me turn them in for full credit no questions asked. You use Mindtap and its sucks paying for an additional service but I found it helpful. 4 tests though and a couple forums and one video forum.

This professor was very sweet but hard to reach most times. I was out for a couple of weeks in the hospital and it was difficult to reach her and most of the time she never responded. Class work is easy and there is one group project, overall a decent class.

(Fall'22) Profesora Marya was very sweet. She post online video lectures and they are parallel to the MindTap eTextbook that is required for assignments and quizzes. There are a few separate assignments required that are voice and video recorded, and one group project. She is fast at responding via email for any questions or help.

She was so sweet. She gave us an appropriate amount of exposure to Spanish, talked about the many variations of ways to say a certain term and overall helped me relearn the concepts in Spanish. She was so vocal on her status whenever she had to cancel, and also responds quickly during the time you complete the work for the week. Great class!

Professor Marya is probably my favorite professor here at CSUSM. I originally enrolled in her class a month late, but I went into her office hours and explained my situation to her, and she welcomed me in with open arms. I am a Spanish speaker, so her class was very easy for me, even if you aren't, she does a good job at explaining in her lectures.

A great professor with a wonderfully warm demeanor. She explains things very clearly and efficiently, you have to do nothing to not learn something. Lots of assignments, but nothing is too hard. You wont regret taking her.

I was nervous to take Spanish and I cannot recommend her enough. The nicest professor and really cares about her students. It is a fast paced class with a lot easy busy work, 3 online exams. If you miss class she is really understanding and does her best to help you catch up. Super funny and makes learning interesting. Love professor Marya!

I took profe's Spanish 101 class and it was great. She's a hilarious professor, very understanding, and willing to go above and beyond to help her students. There is a required textbook and a lot of homework, but if you do a little every other day, it's very easy to manage. Great class, great professor, highly recommend.

She was honestly so nice and genuinely cared about forming relationships with her students. If you had questions, she was easily accessible. The lectures were actually informative and worthwhile.

Very understandable, easy to reach (office hrs/email). 3 assignment blocks per week average, not hard, keep up. Pay attention to lecture, cross reference textbook, do in class practices. Take notes and make vocab sheets. Online tests mostly. Pairs for oral assessment final, know candidates. Great sense of humor, don't be be shy speaking Spanish.
