Pretty chill teacher. not to clear sometimes. work is hard when you dont get it. go to class and you should be fine.
One the best math teachers I've ever had. She makes math fun.
she is one of the best math teacher i've had in a long time. she is very clear about the material most of the time and she is very easy going. very reasonable. i would recommend everyone to take her class. attendance not mandatory but highly recommended.
She asks us to do problems in class before she fully explains them. She's sometimes rude or mean to some students whom she think it's okay. Pretty anal about showing work. I understand her accent fine but a small problem rises when she doesn't understand her students right away. Although she tries hard not to show it, she gets frustrated easily.
Maryam was a horrible teacher, definitely one of the worst I've ever had. Had to drop her class, because a) I couldn't understand her, b) she would call you out for stupid reasons, and c) she tells you that class is NOT mandatory, but you'd have a pop quiz once a week. Pointless, absolutely pointless. Terrible communication via email as well.
class was alright
her quizzes consist of about 5-10 questions that take at least an hour to complete. tests are about 25 questions that can take entire class time. long and tedious. somewhat difficult, but not impossible. she's pretty boring but goes through entire problem step by step
She was a horrible teacher, I paid over $100 for someone to read straight from the book. She cannot answer questions to save her life, you end up being more confused after asking the question than before. She blows through subjects she shouldn't and takes her time on the easiest stuff. Terrible
this class was super easy and i wish i would have taken something harder... it is boring if you get math, honestly %'s and basic geometry are covered... the accent is not bad at all. Good teacher. Homework is online. Tests are easy but she tends to teach something the class before and half the test will be on it so u have to study, not much though.
Taught straight out of the book. I wanted to major in math before I took this class and now I'm having second thoughts. One of the hands down most confusing teachers I've had.
by far the worst math teacher i have ever taken what a waste a money and time. she will spend one day on hard graphs and weeks on basic geometry + i could not understand anything she says
awful. doesnt know english that well, kinda mean, super anal about tests. Dont take her.
One of the best mat teachers that I have had. Well organized, and easy to follow.
I took math 180 with her last semester, and she made the class very fun. You are not confused in this class, and the expected work is clear. My friend took her class for math 008,and he liked her teaching style too.
Easy to follow, and very organized and fair. Enjoyable experience.
She made the class very enjoyable. She's pretty social for a math teacher; cracks jokes here and there. I would say that I'm just okay at math, so this class was challenging to say the least. I would advise you guys to look over your notes after every meeting because she gives random quizzes. All in all, she's a helpful and nice teacher.
The class itself was not ridiculously hard but I do not think she can teach, she would make topics that did not need to be confusing, confusing. And she had trouble understanding peoples' questions and sometimes couldn't fully answer them, definately not the best calc teacher.
I got a D, but that was for other reasons than her teaching skills. Great class. Wouldn't be hard to get a B in. A might be tough. Decent amount of homework. Tests were challenging, but not too hard. And she's always willing to stay after and help you with anything. Sweet and funny so class isn't such a drag.
Every point in this class is CRITICAL. I did all my homework assignments, got A's on almost all quizzes, and scored high B's to low A's on ALL my exams. But I still ended up with a B in the class :(. I was probably 2 correct answers away from an A. GET ALL THE POINTS YOU CAN!!
Prof K was very helpful and tells you exactly what she wants. She does a lot of problems in class because? Well if you want to pass math you must practice at the questions a whole LOT. Overall she was very helpful and the class was not boring at all. Highly recommended but not for lazy people.
She is very helpful and super organized. Math is not my strength, but I learned a lot in her classes.
The class itself is not hard, but she makes everything more difficult than it should be! It is really hard to understand what she is saying and she keeps making mistakes when she teaches so it gets confusing. She gives me a headache...
Great professor. Have to do homework.
She is really nice Professors, She's very helpful and I get grade A (97%) on her class, Math 140. However, the final included 2 days with all the whole review, kind of hard, but it's fine with her practice test that she give us before the Final.
Very nice teacher, easy to talk to. Lectures are at a good pace, she will answer all questions till you understand it. There is homework but not a lot. Overall pretty easy teacher.
She's a nice teacher other then the fact that she tends to make a lot of mistakes in class. Easy exams, decent amount of homework and quizzes... Take her class and you'll be thankful you did
She is nice and ready to help you if you don't understand. You need to pay attention to her lecture and do all HW. So you will be fine. Quizzes + 3 Exams + Final (including all chapters). Practice tests will be given before exam. You can use them as study guide for final.
Although it was a fast paced class, i felt comfortable with the schedule of hw, quizzes, and tests. She is willing to work with you whenever you need help. If calculus concepts are new to you it can be tough but just put in the time and effort. She also kept the class interesting by making us laugh every now and then. I enjoyed taking her class.
She makes problems more hard than they really are.Hw is online and take alot of time to complete.5 exams but the last 3 are overhelming since they're one after the other. And she give you 30 problems which is alot bc other teachers at max 12.although its multiple they're hard since no partial credit and take time to solve.i try so hard and got a D.
she may seem cold at first, but i realized she's actually very nice and helpful. she's a great teacher. thanks ms. k
I found every word of hers helpful, she is one of the best Math teachers I have seen. this was my first Math class in English and I got an A. she knows how to make her information and knowledge clear and helpful to any student. I, personally like her and I wish she teaches other classes.
She's strict.Doesn't accept late students and minds talkative ones.helpful since she goes on lectures fast and you have to keep up w/her.don't get the book.hw's and q's are reasonable. She has a dry sense of humor.Don't be fooled, she's actually nice and approachable.Study and get all points that you can.Grades are by percent, not points.
I'm taking precalculus with her this semester, and although the class is 2.5 hours, I truly enjoy her class. She is very organized, and that helps me to understand the subjects. Her grading is fair, and I learned alot in her class.
She is very easy to understand, and I like the way she teaches. She is easy-going and friendly as well, and so far I have enjoyed her class.
Worst teacher I ever had on campus, I cant not seem to get to know the teacher. I absolutely telling you the truth do not take her. She is difficult to understand and her examples are hard to follow. I took Trig last semester and got a B and basically Pre-Cal is a cover of trig w/ more added. She makes math worst then it is. Do not waste time w/her
Learn from my bad experience and never take her. She is the worst math teacher I have ever had in my life. You can't understand her, she is not approachable, If you do not keep up to her speed she will leave you behind. Never in my 14 years of education have I ever had a teacher as horrible as her.
Mrs Khakbazan is one of the coolest and most caring professors that I have seen. She is very organized, has a good knowledge of the subject matter, and explains it well. I have taken her classes a couple of times, and I absolutely like her classes and enjoy the way she teaches! I highly recommend her!
Now that I'm taking calculus, I know that I learned so much in her precalculus class. She is very caring and I like her teaching style very much. You have to do homework, and there are frequent quizzes, and she energizes the class. I highly recommend her.
She is very organized and I like the way that she explains stuff. Homework is online.
I think she's a great professor. She's kind of intimidating at first but she is really helpful. She drops your lowest test score. All homework is online. She usually emails back quickly too. This class was really easy at first but it gets harder later on. If you study the tests you'll do good on the final. I totally recommend her!!
She is a fair teacher. Online quizzes come from the online homework. In class quizzes come from your notes. She will drop your lowest quiz score. She added 5% onto our homework score. She also added 10% onto our Final Exam Part 2 score. Don't worry about her accent. It was never a factor in my performance.
Very clear and articulate, good at getting her point across. I just wish she went over some of the subject matter covered in the homework. Strict, but fair. Easy A if you remember basic math. Assigns a ton of homework but gives you at least two months to do all of it. All in all, the class has been an okay experience for me so far.
She is very nice once you get to know her, and a pretty thorough teacher. She drops your lowest test and quiz grade which is very helpful. The homework is manageable (don't let it pile up until the due date though!!!). She encourages students to ask questions, and is over all a good teacher. Study previous tests and you'll do well on the final.
This teacher likes to do math the hard way. Her teaching methods are very unclear and her examples don't do any good. You're on your own learning this stuff through homework. Would not recommend to anyone who struggles with math.
She is very clear and I like her lectures, but the course material is tough by itself and you have to study a lot.
I struggle with math so landing a good teacher is crucial. She only does a few problems from each section and never reviews. She moves so fast that it is hard to comprehend what you are learning because you are just trying to copy the notes before she switches to the next problem. Heavily uses my math lab which is horrible. Wouldn't recommend.
I took her for college algebra. This course covers a lot of algebra and you have to keep up with that. The homework is done online, and you need to be on top of it, but she is a great teacher, and her lectures are very clear.
Her lectures are very good, and this is the first time I actually understand math.
Her class is very organized and she is a very good teacher. I understand math in her class, and I highly recommend her.
She has a great personality, and her class is not boring, and for the first time I actually understand math.
I had her for trig class, and I really learned a lot in her class. Her teaching style is very clear, and you got to go to the class, and yeah do the homework. She is very nice too!
I liked her class. Very organized and clear, and you know what is expected. Good sense of human too!
Math 115 isn't easy, but she made it easy to understand and follow, and I enjoyed attending her classes.
Her lectures were so clear and easy to follow and understand, and for the first time I actually enjoyed math. Highly recommend her.
I had her for a sort of odd course which was a lot of different types of math, but she made it very interesting and explained everything well. The homework us online but you got to do i! :( Overall I liked her a lot.
Mrs. K is one of the best! Highly recommend her, and I love her attitude.
Honestly, she is the best Math teacher I've ever had. Very kind and caring with likable personality and knows how to teach math!
I'm in Mrs. K.'s math 010 class, and I love it. For the first time , I understand math, and as a bonus she is so caring and sweet. Totally recommend her.
I learned from this class more than any other math class that I have taken in my life. I wish I had known that math can be actually interesting long time ago!!!
I wish I had a math teacher like Maryam long time ago! I truly enjoyed her classes, and learned more than I ever thought I was able to. She is always available and provides study sessions, and she is so funny!
She is such a great teacher and I now I understand math. She is very easy to talk to and super funny. I really like my math class now.
Maryam is my favorite teacher. I decided to change my major to math because of her. You need to do a lot of homework on ALEKS and study everyday.
BY FAR the BEST math teacher ever! Super helpful and caring and knows how to teach! I lover her attitude.
I LOVED Mrs. Khakbazan. I came into this course not very confident bc my math skills suck but she totally flipped that around. There's a lot of work assigned on ALEKS. Do it bc it helps you in the long run. If you listen and pay attention you will most likely get a good grade. Attend all the study sessions you can. She's always willing to help.
I've always struggled with math and hoped that maybe she would work out. Lets see, she forgets things, writes problems wrong, adds multiple extra steps that will confuse you even if you already know how to do it. Every absence you will receive a notice from her and the "optional" study session in the morning is actually part of the grade.
Professor Khakbazan is hands down the best instructor I've ever had!! She was even nominated for Teacher of the Year. She is beyond helpful and really cares about her students' success. Amazing, amazing professor!
I was never good at math and always struggled with it and I got an A in Ms. K class. She is very helpful and easy going and knows how to explain math in an easy way. She offered extra study sessions and going to her sessions and also our class tutor study sessions helped me a lot even though they were not part of the grade.
I am really weak at math in general, but taking Maryam is a must. She's nice and caring about her students by offering a lot of extra credit to save your grade. She has office hours that you can attend. Sometimes offers group activities for a point boost to help you out. Not accent heavy but you can tell.
I'm taking the summer course with Maryam and she is so cool and explains math well. Highly recommend her. Need to do the homework online though.
Maryam is so cool and makes learning math bearable. I took her in the summer and enjoyed her class. The homework is online and participation matters. You won't learn if you don't go to class.
She is hands down the best math teacher I've ever had. I wish I had taken math with her long time ago. She is thorough and makes everything look easy. Totally recommend her.
We were working on Factoring and I thought that we were playing a game. That's how fun and exciting Ms. K. made it. I'm learning in this class more than ever and I'm loving it. I hope she teaches college algebra too. Take her course and you won't regret it.
I didn't even know that I like math until this semester. Maryam is caring and her explanations are easy to understand. Love her personality and enjoy her class.
I'm taking math 30 with Maryam this semester, and even though I never liked math, I'm learning so much in this class and surprisingly enjoying algebra. Homework is online and you have to go to the lectures. Maryam is sweet and nice and helps you outside the class too.
I wish I had a math teacher like Maryam in High School. For the first time I actually understand math. She is so sweet and helpful and cool and I love her attitude.
Maryam is the best math teacher I've ever had. Yeah! She is so patient and explains everything as many times as you ask her. Her class is not boring and I am actually learning something. I wish she was teaching higher level too.
Professor Maryam was one of the best teachers I have ever had. I started this class not knowing and remembering any algebra and finished it with an A . We did homework online and I did my homework everyday and that helped me a lot. She was super caring and helpful and helped me gain my self confidence. She was also cool and funny .
i took both math 10 and 30 with her and I would've taken my next math class with her if Maryam was teaching it but unfortunately she is not. She is by far the most caring teacher I have ever seen. The homework is online and takes time to do it. The quizzes and exams are like homework questions. Her workshops were helpful too.
I learned in her class more than I have ever imagined. I didn't even know that I'm capable of liking math! Maryam is an amazing teacher n she actually cared about us.
I am in her math 030 class this semester and I enjoy her her class so much!
I hope Maryam teaches College algebra too. She is seriously one of the best and for the first time I understand what's going on in the math class. She is helpful both inside and outside the class and she is very easy to talk to. There are so much homework online and since I work I never get to finish them but it is what it is.
She is a caring and wonderful teacher. She invests a lot of time in the students and wants them to succeed. Has a pleasing demeanor and communicates well. I'm so glad I've taken her class. She would be my first choice as a math teacher.
Maryam is easy going and cool. She explains math in such an easy way. I like the online homework cuz it gives me feedback, and Maryam constantly encourages us to work on it. She offers so much help and I can tell that she really cares about us. I wish I didn't have to work so I could spent more time on our online homework but I can't.
Maryam was my favorite professor. she cares so much about her students and she wants you to pass. She is always there to help you and she is very understanding. She is very clear in how she grades and what she expects. The hw was very easy and if you do it you will pass.
She's chill and explains math pretty clearly. There's lots of online work for homework every week. Quizzes are every week but they're easy, but the exams are definitely harder. Lots of note taking (like every math clsss). Attendance is mandatory and tardies matter.
she's a great teacher and very nice. She will make sure everyone understands.
she was great took her for math 30 and i literally suck at math. passed with a C cause i gave out the end but she totally cares unlike my current math 100 prof. take her!!
Maryam is so sweet and caring, she always makes sure everyone understands the topic. I have never enjoyed math but she makes it a lot more tolerable and even enjoyable!
As a freshman, I never liked math and taking her class is a hidden gem. Although, there are certain things that you need to keep in mind, two of them is always write down her notes and catch up on ALEK (online math program)
Maryam is certainly one of my favorite teachers. She is easygoing and kind, and she explain the math stuff well. I feel comfortable in her class but I should say, there are so much online practice too.
She is one of the best math teachers out there. She's incredibly patient, encouraging & understanding. You do need to work on ALEKS regularly in order to keep up in class. She's explains EVERYTHING step by step & it get's really helpful towards the end of the semester. PASS sessions are highly recommend!! DON'T buy the physical book, it's not used.
Maryam cares about her students like no other teacher I've ever had! She encouraged me and helped me so much throughout the semester, and for the first time in my life I got an A in math!
I took math 030 with Maryam last semester, and to be honest, I hated math, but Maryam is amazing. She was super caring and I really liked her personality. I learned how to study math and finished the class with a B. I did it, and I owe it to Maryam!
She gives out a lot of extra credit. She pushes you to pass the class with at least a C. The only thing that was time consuming was the homework through a program called Aleks. She teaches the subject very well and has her office hours open to any student that has any questions. I recommend to take her class, I slacked off so I got a C.
I wish I had taken this course with Maryam before! I sort of like math now, sort of! I have a B in the class, and this time I do my homework most of the time. Maryam is nice and easy to talk to and her lectures are easy to understand. I hope she teaches college algebra next semester.
This was my first semester at GWC and I have learned many things about the campus in Maryam's class. She always tells us about the events and activities at the campus and because of her announcements in the class, I learned how to get help from EOPS. She teaches math well, and doesn't let you go until you get it! :) Love her!
I am taking math 30 with Maryam this summer, and she is such an easy going professor who knows how to teach. I feel I have more self-confidence in her class than ever.
Ms. Khakbazan is amazing! The biggest thing you absolutely need to do is show up to class. She explains things very well but if you miss even a day it can seem like a foreign language. Homework was assigned online and so long as you do all of it and her extra credit study packets for the test, you'll do great!
Prof Khakbazan is by far one of my favorite professors at GWC. She is so sweet and caring and really wants you to pass her class. Have any questions? She will be more than happy to answer them for you. If you hate math, TAKE HER!! Just do the online hw and you'll be more than fine. Goodluck :)
Ms. K. is a gem! I loved her class and her positive attitude. She helped me outside the class to catch up with the things that I missed in the class since I missed some classes because of my family problems. Math is not my strong subject, but I sort of enjoyed her class. I will take her class again if she teaches more math courses.
Ive never loved math and Im not good at it, but I did well in Maryams class. She breaks down everything and explains it in an easy way. Maryam is cool and friendly and easy to talk to.
Maryam is seriously the best math teacher I've ever had. I'm gonna take college algebra with her in the summer, and this semester, I'm doing well in math 30 class.
Ms. K is very cool and friendly and she breaks down math in a way that I understand. The homework is online! I'll try to take her in fall too.
Maryam is seriously the best mat teacher I've ever had. I wish I had a teacher like her in my high school. She makes math easy to understand, and because of her, this semester, I changed my major to math.
I took math 30 with Maryam in Spring and I signed up for her math 115 class in the summer. I love Maryams positive vibe, and I never thought that I can learn math before I took her class. She is so friendly and helpful!!!!
Great teacher wish she taught other math classes so i can take them.
Professor K is a great teacher but prepare for loads of homework online thru ALEKS. It's a lot of work and not doing it will cost at least a letter grade. However, doing it will prepare you well for the exams though. Take her class!! She's caring as well, but homework is important for this class
I took math 115 in the summer with Professor K, and I enjoyed her class very much. Unfortunately, she was injured and couldnt finish the summer course. I finished the course with an A with another professor anyways, but Ms. K was my favorite and I learned so much in her class. She is sweet and caring. The course requires doing homework too.
I took this course last semester and didnt pass and taking it again with Maryam. Oh man, what a difference! Maybe too soon to say but I understand everything this time and enjoy her class. I hope I get a good grade this time.
Im taking this course online for the first time n I wasnt sure what to expect but Im surprised that I actually like this class n study for it. Maryam is very involved with the students n her lecture videos and notes R super helpful. So far, so good! Highly recommend.
Maryam is very helpful and kind n i think i understand math in her class. I was worried that the class is going to be online, but she made it easy to follow and understand. She answers my emails no matter what time of the day it is n thank god Im taking this class with her.
Just want to say that Maryam has been one of my favorite teachers and I wish she was teaching more math courses. After the class switched to online, she setup our class on Canvas. We have access to her prerecorded lecture videos and notes and we also meet with her twice a week on zoom. So far, it has been a great experience. Totally recommend her.
I feel so lucky taking this class with Maryam. She is soooo caring and helpful especially now that our class is online. She answers my questions no matter what time of the day it is and Im actually getting used to our online class now. Btw she has a great personality.
I thought I cant survive this new online version of the class but its actually not bad and Im getting used to it. Maryam posts her lecture videos and notes on canvas and we zoom twice a week. We do our homework, quizzes & exams on aleks. Maryam has been very helpful since day 1 and answers all of my questions quickly.
Prof. K is amazing! She records her lectures and posts them on Canvas and we also meet on zoom. Anyways. I couldve had a better grade if Id done my homework more often.
Although I prefer at campus classes more, the online class is good too, and Its hard to admit that Im learning math. Maryam is cool and approachable and her lecture videos and also zoom sessions are helpful. She is also nice and fair.
I prefer to go to the campus and be in the class and ask questions but Maryam made the online class tolerable and I appreciate that. She answers to all of my questions quickly and she has zoom meetings and also records her lectures. Maryam is very sweet and kind and she has even offered me one on one zoom sessions to help me more.
I joined the class late due to being on the waitlist. There had been 3 assignments online (including a self-introduction) and she did not allow me to make any of them up even though I was waitlisted. I find that ridiculous but other than that she was a pretty good professor.
Maryam is amazing! I have always done TERRIBLY in math and she explains everything thoroughly and will stay on topic if the class needs help still. Extra credit for all exams, is SUPER good and getting back to you in time and is VERY understanding. I am taking her again for math 115! You will not regret taking her class!
Maryam is such a great teacher. I took math 115 with her in spring and finished the class with B. I couldve had an A, but didnt do my homework as much as I had to. Maryam answered all of my questions quickly and watching her lecture videos helped me a lot. Honestly, i didnt like math that much but I learned in her class and Im okay with it now
Professor K is one of the best professors Ive ever had. She is so patient and takes time to answer all of our questions either on Discussion Board or via email. Her lecture videos are super helpful and I like the fact that we have zoom meetings too. Definitely enjoyed her class and learned a lot.
Maryam is a great Professor. Highly recommend her!
Maryam is an AMAZING prof. She keeps us engaged in the class and with each other even though the class is online. Maryam sends me, and I guess the rest of the class weekly progress report and answers my emails right away. She is always very encouraging and helpful and I love her class.
I'm taking math 115 ithis summer, and love the way we interact with each other in this class even though it's online. I've been learning so much in this class and I didn't expect that at all. Maryam is super friendly, and she communicates with us frequently. The course setup on canvas is very organized and easy to follow. Gladly, recommend her.
This was my second time taking her class and she is the only math prof that doesn't make me want to quit. I LOVE HER. 10/10 RECOMMEND.
One of the best teachers ever!!
Maryam is hands down the most caring math teacher that Ive ever had. She gives us weekly progress feedback and help us whenever we need help. She answers my emails right away no matter what time or what day it is. Ive learned so much in this online math course and I didnt even like math. I wish she was teaching calculus too.
Im going to take calculus in spring and I know that Ive learned a lot in Maryams class. She has been very approachable and helpful and she is my favorite professor at GWC.
took college algebra with her this semester and have never felt more confident in a math class! if math doesn't come easy to you, take it with prof. maryam! she's super thorough in her video lectures and ALEKS' guided questions are super helpful. weekly zoom meetings are optional, but the few times i've gone they've been super helpful :)
Im taking professor Maryams class this semester and even though I wasnt a math fan before, Im enjoying her online class so much. The format of the class is super organized and her lecture videos, notes and zoom sessions are very helpful. I wish she was teaching calculus because thats the next course I have to take.
I wish Maryam was teaching higher math levels cuz she is awesome and I love her class. I never knew that I could learn this much in a math class.
Professor Maryam is very caring and she gives us feedback on our progress weekly. All of her notes and videos are posted on canvas and we do quizzes, exams and homework on ALEKS. The discussion board is very useful and I enjoy interacting with my classmates there. Ive been learning a lot in this class and weekly zoom sessions are very helpful too.
Maryam is very involved. She is patient & helpful as well. I truly appreciated using ALEKS for homework assignments & as long as you pay attention to the lectures & take notes, you are able to easily pass with an A. Weekly discussions allow students to remain engaged & actively interact with one another. I enjoyed her class and really liked her!
Im so impressed how much I have learned in Maryams class even though its online. She is very approachable and communicates with us on daily basis. Her lecture videos and notes are easy to follow, and weekly homework, quizzes and exams are all on ALEKS which is an awesome online math site.
Professor Maryam is the best!! you will not regret taking her class because it is very straight forward. Even though it is online, it is still easy to pass the class if you do all the weekly homework. Also, ALEKS is very helpful when it comes to doing homework. Overall, she is the best!!
Professor Maryam is simply the best professor Ive ever had. Her interaction with us for our online class was amazing, and she responded to any question that I had very quickly. I wish she was teaching trigonometry too.
I am so glad that Professor Maryam is teaching math 115 too. I took math 30 with her last semester and I enjoyed her class and learned math a lot. Her lecture videos are clear and helpful and she meets with us on zoom regularly and whenever we asked for help. She responded to all of my emails quickly and she was always available to help me.
She is very caring and attentive to all of her students. When we were in the classroom (before COVID) she would do a 20 min presentation on the topic, then ask us to get in groups of 3-4 and give us little whiteboards to write our answers on. Her tests were based solely on the ALEKS material and she gave us plenty of opportunity to attend tutoring
I never thought that I can learn this much from an online math class. The set up of the course is easy to follow online. We have access to Maryams lecture videos and notes, and she zooms with us twice a week to answer our questions. We also post our questions and help each other in the discussion board. This math class is my favorite class online
This was the best online class that Ive had since pandemic. Im going to take math 115 in summer with Maryam. She is a caring and knowledgeable professor, and I love the way she sets up the course on Canvas. I am already a fan of ALEKS which is the math platform that we use for our math course.
Maryam replies to her emails almost right away, and that makes the communication much easier. Her lecture videos and notes are very helpful, and she has weekly zoom sessions. We do our homework and quizzes on ALEKS program which is an amazing math program. Overall, Maryam is caring and teaches well.
I took both math 30 on campus and math 115 online with Maryam, and I absolutely love the way she teaches. Ive had many math teachers in my life, and honestly I havent learnt math from any of them. The online setup is easy to follow and her videos are very helpful. I also like ALEKS. Thats the program that we used to do our HW and quizzes.
Ive never been good at math and I took both math 030 and 115 with Maryam and Ive decided to change my major to math. I never expected to learn that much in online classes and Maryams classes have exceeded my expectations since everything is so organized and straight forward. As a bonus, she has a warm and welcoming personality and cares about us
Maryam has genuine interest in instilling her passion for math into her students, and she is an inspiring educator. I wish our classes were at the campus, but even being online, I can tell how much she cares about us. Im so glad I took math 115 with her, and I didnt expect to learn this much and get an A so far. :)
Professor Khakbazan is one of the most caring/knowledgeable instructors at Goldenwest. Her lectures are concise, and the coursework is manageable. Having taken her for College Algebra and Math 030, I can say that she is readily available for her students and is fully committed to preparing them for subsequent courses. My advice: take her!
She's a really nice lady and it's obvious she cares about her students, but if you struggle with online learning and math, she probably won't be the best fit for you. She posts lectures separately from class sessions and is ALEKS heavy. Expect weekly discussions where you post a math question and answer 2 others. She wasn't bad, just not for me.
Maryams zoom sessions are very helpful and she explains the math concepts very well. I like her videos posted on canvas, and she is really good at giving weekly feedback and communication. I strongly recommend taking her class!
Im taking math 030 with Maryam and I have learned math beyond my expectations, and Im planning to take college algebra with her in spring. The layout of her online class is easy to follow and accessible, and her videos and zoom sessions are very helpful. Also, she provides weekly feedback, and I like her class a lot.
Maryam replies to my emails quickly even sometimes after midnight and she is very caring. The set up of the course on canvas is very organized and easy to follow, and even though I’m not a fan of math, I’m enjoying her class. Her zoom sessions are super helpful.
Maryam is a wonderful professor! Any class she teaches she does amazing.
Maryam is the best math teacher I have ever had. Its not my favorite subject and was nervous to take the class. She was caring and patient. I would recommend her for a math professor. Enjoyed being in her class.
Well organized online class, and for the first time I actually enjoyed learning math. Maryam replies to my emails quickly and she is always helpful. Her online lectures are soooooo good. We use ALEKS for our homework, and I like it too.
This online course was offered in the summer. The class was very straight forward, a little bit expensive only rewarding if you take it seriously. The lecture was very fast paced (note the teacher barely teaches unless you ask for additional support) class offer in 8 weeks. Similar to all online courses is very simple. Read and you will pass!!!
She uses ALEKS instead of a physical book. Tests, exams, quizzes, etc. are via ALEKS. Her lecture videos are clear and organized. There is one discussion post every week (mainly for extra credits) which is very easy. Take a look at the modules to know ahead what you'll be doing in the next week. Homework is easy and doesn't take much time.
she is good
The class was very fun and there are multiple test and quizzes but you get another chance to get a higher score. We talk about soccer quite a lot in the class when the world cup was happening so that a bonus if you watch it.
Overall I wouldn't say she's a bad professor. Just an okay one. She definitely has her own set pace that you have to keep up with and if you don't you'll be forced to have to catch up. My recommendation for anyone taking her class would be to realize that the class session isn't over when class is over and its over when you've mastered it at home
Doesnt really teach, only uses old videos other people are teaching. Pretty easy class and each test you get multiple tries which is nice. Her student aid did most of the helping and answer questions so don't really know her teaching style but overall if you do all the homework and have time management you will pass.
I'm taking math 115, college algebra with Maryam this semester and she is one of my favorite professors. She is approachable and flexible and breaks down the math in a way that I understand. I do my homework on time because if you don't, it will be hard to catch up. I totally enjoy her class.
The class is online and everything is well organized. We have access to the professor's lecture notes and videos. She is accessible and easy to communicate with. She answers my emails within minutes! Scary, ha!? Overall, a great online class.
Professor Khakbazan was kind and understanding towards the students, with several occasions of pushing back the due dates for homework and tests if a student requested it. Free textbook cost and you have 2 attempts for each test. Each homework assignment has infinite retries. Overall, the course was very easy and organized.
I've always been terrible at math, failing so many math classes. I took two of Maryam's classes and got an A in both. As long as you turn everything in on time you will get an easy A. This class helped me fulfill any math requirements needed to help me transfer to a uni. There is no way you can fail, she offers multiple test attempts/extra credit
The class is super organized. Homework and Video Assignments, 5 exams and a final. Maryam breaks down math well and if you go to her classes, you'll be okay. We have a tutor just for this class and I go to his sessions too to get extra help. Overall, I'm doing fine and I sorta enjoy the class.
Great professor and a delightful class. Focuses a lot on example problems as opposed to info dumping. She is very understanding, caring, and funny. Also, the in-class tutor and tutoring opportunities outside of class were extremely helpful. There was always an exam review before an exam. If you feel lost, you know there are ways to get great help.
Great prof!! Uses a lot of examples in class so you can really understand the topics and reflect on them to study. Allows you to have a notecard during all exams to help remember formulas. Provides extra credit if you attend the study sessions. There's a lot of hw for this class but honestly it was super helpful in order to understand the topics.
Great prof!! Uses written notes. It gives a lot of examples in class so you can understand the topics and not struggle with your homework. Get ready to do a lot of homework, but they are easy, about 10-15 questions per homework. There is an in-class tutor, and tutoring opportunities outside class are invaluable. She's very lovely and understanding.
This was the one of the first math related classes I took where the teacher did not use "gotcha" questions on exams. All material was clear and if you do the work and study the material you will get an A. This class isn't what I would call easy but it is not astronomically impossible to get an A. Take this class!
Very dedicated professor I haven't taken any math course that similar to my high school year since I took her course. It's a compliment because she still using written note lectures, always gave details information on every single problems. She also has a in-class tutor, which is a plus for those who struggle with math problems.
Tbh this was the most helpful college algebra course I've taken, in comparison to the in-person classes at cypress. She organizes the content as video assignments & homework problems to complete weekly. They are do-able, & this format benefited me greater than "everything from the module due same day as exam" way. Stay consistent & you'll be fine.
Ms. Maryam is one of the most caring professors out there. I love how she stays professional with her students yet shows that she is caring like her own blood. Definitely will take her other classes no doubt.
Given that I took her Precalculus over the Winter Intersession, there will be lots of homework and a need for efficient time management (allocate like 5+ hours a week into this class). In the span of 4 weeks, you will be required to have taken 4 exams (each is 5-10 questions with work needed). 2 attempts before being locked out of a question.
She really does care about all her students. She was always giving feedback/ words of encouragement on all my assignments. If you study for all the tests and do the homework you will easily pass. She does not give any trick questions on any of the tests. She is always available if you need help and there is a tutor available as well.
Really simple and easy class, just do the work and understand the concepts. Really fair and caring professor.
