She has trouble conveying chemsitry clearly, but then she gets across what you need for the tests. No homework. Pretty hot teacher for being older. Not much patience for students who "don't get it." The final was killer!
Very pleasant teacher to have. You have to adjust to her accent at first, but soon you can understand her pretty well. The class is tough, but she tries to help you along and she goes at the pace of the students. She was very understanding and just great!
Do not take a class with Bazargan. It is a nightmare. She is the queen of trick questions. So studying hard is useless. The students in this class are angry and frustrated at how it has gone. Believe me, pick CIURASH instead.

I've had some bad teachers before, but i tell you, never have i had a teacher who told us we were going ot fail and did everything she could to make us drop the class so she didn't have to teach it. DON"T TAKE HER!!

She is very caring. She is a really nice teacher. Sometimes she is not effective at teaching the material, but she's willing to help you.
Summer class was very intense. She tried hard and pretty much suceeded in conveying the material. Many students should have dropped early or studied hard but didn't and caused problems. Her accent was not a problem for me. Her test questions at times demanded a level of understanding beyond the book
She didnt teach very well, and wasnt wanting to make things clear.
she couldn't really take the info, and put it into a way we could understand. test questions got hard and complicated at times. if you take her, good luck, if you're not a chemstar, you'll need it.
she even said herself she didn't really understand it, but she knew how to do it. cannot explain it well to save her life. i had a tough time and i stopped trying after the W date passed. took home a d that dropped my 4.0 to 2.9. :(
Professor Bazargan is an intelligent person, but has some difficulty conveying chemistry (the subject is not simple to explain). She is willing to help, but does favor students who do very well. Studying is important. Class is not an easy A. Final was culmaltive; go to the study sessions!
Oh my goodness, she sucks! Do yourself a favor and choose another teacher.
Worst teacher I have ever taken ANY class from. She does not understand any chemistry and thus cannot teach it. Find a different teacher!
She is a careing person, but does not explain the work well. The test questions were hard and if you want to do good you really need to read the book because her notes are not very useful. She trys to help but does not get her point across
dont take class with her ,she is mad smug teacher she cant teach anything cuz she doesnt know anything
Do not take any chem class with her. she is not a good teacher.
no no no no ,do not take class with her i have no idea how they let her to teach cuz she know nothing
I find that the people who complain about this teacher are the ones that don't show up to class and don't do their work. Then, because they don't understand, they blame the teacher. I liked this class and the teacher. She may seem tough, but this pushes you harder.
donno..she can't really help those question.so regret took this class. waste my time.
This teacher is the worst teacher I have ever taken. She doesnt explain anything and assumes her students already know as much as she does. The only way I passed was by spending 6 hours a day reading my chem book.
The class is very tough. Not at all because of the teacher. Dr. B does a great job teaching the material and gives quite a bit of homework. YOU NEED TO DO THE HOMEWORK TO DO WELL IN THE CLASS! She is pretty flexible on when assignments are turned in... but it would be 2 your benefit to do it as soon before the material is tested, obviously.
Don't even concider taking this evil woman as a teacher. Chemistry is tough enough, you don't need a degrading teacher to add to it. She doesn't even want to take the time to answer any of your questions. She told me she wouldn't pass me and when i asked why, she couldn't give me a reason, she also told me she couldn't accommodate me and to leave..
nice individual. subject is difficult but she is willing to help.
Great teacher. Very helpful and the exams are easy if you study her notes. Take her!
take this professor... im a lazy guy and i only studied for the two days before the test and i pulled a B. im not saying its an easy class but it is and easy B. if ur looking for an A you better be ready to work hard... be nice and respect her and shell be nice and respect you back and help you out when it comes to grading time
she's a nice teacher, tough but nice. she's helpful and understanding. she gives three extra credit assignments and allows a note card on the final.
She is the worse teacher, she favors certain students. If your ask her a question she does not answer, just makes you feel stupid. Is always on her cell phone, her lectures do not make sense and her exams are tricky. She takes no intrest in the development of her students or does not even care. Why is she teaching? Its not fair.
She was very helpful and understanding but you have to come to her and prove you are serious. If you don't care about your grade, she doesn't either. She won't give you a grade just because you need it. You have to work hard in her class and you will be rewarded for it accordingly.
Great teacher she can be a little unclear with her french accent but is still very helpful all you really have to do is go to lab and attend most of the lectures and you will do fine the grading is set up so you can get Ds on the tests and still get a B in class as long as you do the extra credit worksheets i got Cs and Bs on tests and got an A
i absolutely adore she is so wonderful i changed my major to chemistry she is fair and strict i can't wait to take her class again in summer
This class is not for those who want an easy grade. If you want to do well, show up, pay attention, and most importantly DO THE EXTRA CREDIT, it's a life saver. She won't baby you or try and convince you to do your work, but if you do and you're committed, she's a sweetheart. Lecture is not mandatory, but I recommend attending. Lab is mandatory an
She is hard to understand at times. She can be understandable with problems that you have.
She does take her time to help you, but it seems that she just isn't as interested in helping after a few questions. She has a nice sense of humor though, she tries not to make the subject as boring. She goes a bit fast in her lecture and labs, and a lot of the time unclear. Luckily, her tests her pretty easy and gives bonus points to help you.
Maryam is a sweetheart and wants her students to do well. however she wont put up with you if you arent willing to try and learn, which should be true of any professor. she gives a bunch of extra credit, points on your tests, and study guides for each one. allows cheat sheet on final. some labs are tedious.i hate chemistry but she made it worth it.
Took a partially online class and it wasn't the best, but she definitely does her best to explain the material to you. She tries to help you pass but you HAVE to read the text. A bit of a communication barrier so phrase your questions the right way, give yourself time to study and you will be fine.
This has to be one of the worst chem teachers on campus. She needs to stay teaching intro because she obviously doesn't understand any material beyond the basic. She was constantly changing her powerpoint and erasing material because someone would ask a question and she would not know the answer. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU HAVE THE CHOICE AND ENJOY CHEM
at times she is difficult to understand because of her accent, but she is very kind, and is willing to help. she's kind of like the love child of angelina jolie and my favorite thrift store manager in ventura, abdul. she gives extra credit ws. but don't count on it to make the grade. you have to read the book very well.
This teacher is bad,I had her over the spring semester & received an F on purpose because I did not want a C in a 6 unit class.I retook it over the summer with the hardest chem prof,Torres(who isn't here anymore)& got an A.I was actually learning from torres & did not have to rely on my book like I had to with bazargan who didnt understand chem.
Part online/classroom - HA. Basicly teach yourself w/little instruction. Short/fun/interesting labs. EC/exam correction credit brought my grade fr B to A. She's very nice w/quirkly sense of humor. 1 complaint: last mo of class she lost interest. Final study worksheets in no way a preparation for actual final. Wouldn't take a another class from her.
Not the best but not the worst teacher. If you took chem in high school then its basically that all over again. Sit near the front to understand her accent better in lecture. Almost don't need the text book, her lecture pretty much covers what is on the tests. Tests are reasonable, final unbelievably easy. Study and you'll get an A.
overall she is an okay teacher. he most annoying thing thoo was that she was sooo vague about tests. she tells you whats gonna be on the test but don't actually expect to find those things. you have to have knowledge on the whole chapter. good thing thoo is that she offers extra credit for every test and she drops one test out of 6 total
there is nothing good to say about her. you ask her for clarification and she stares silently at you... she never sets clear deadlines for turning in papers and doesn't clarify when we need to use significant figures or not in an answer.. chem has always been my subject but i failed her class! dont ever ever take her!
literally the most stressful class i've ever taken... i've never been bad at this subject and wow. just wow.
Although I got an A in the class, I had to work for it. She drops your lowest test grade and replaces it with your best, but her tests were inconsistent with her lectures and didn't require you to listen to her much at all. If you plan on further pursuing chemistry and actually learning the material, I do not recommend her.
She's not a bad teacher at all. Ask her something, and she'll help and give you the answer. Labs just need to be done for full credit and there isn't a lot of homework. You barely use the textbook and you can buy older versions. I didn't open mine but I bought an old one for $7. Tests are half scantron half not. Not too hard, but not too easy.
I had never been so afraid to take a teacher in my life because of the bad reviews and the fact that I had NEVER taken a chem class but I promise you, if you sit in the front, take good notes, and actually not be afraid to start your questions with: "Ummm..." you WILL pass. And don't be so eager to turn stuff in b4 checking it with her. She's nice.
For this class I had to teach myself out of the book because her lectures were so terrible. As a visual learner, this professor was not for me. Not much homework and labs are fun. Tests were fairly easy. She is very determined to help you understand one on one but only because she lacks in group lecture. She is very pleasant though.
I was scared to take this class because of all the horrible reviews... but let me tell you, Mrs. B is AMAZING! She is so sweet and always made me laugh. Sit in the front and pay attention. Write flashcards for tests and STUDY. She gives you all the information that you need to get an A. Drops lowest test score and gives study guides.
She is so nice. Her test are so hard but her lectures cover every thing. Not an easy A ,it needs to study and depends on your effort. I recommended her.
Don't be fooled by the horrible reviews. Chem was hard for me in the first place but I managed to pass the class by showing up and paying attention. Just study and ask for help. Test were not bad at all if you put in the effort. She also checks your lab and worksheets and tells you what to fix before you turn them in.
Honest Opinion: Chemistry is hard. You will have to put effort in studying & this course is a LOT of hours so make room for this class. She does curve & drop quizzes/tests.Doesn't use textbook. Her lectures are very disorganized & goes fast so get ready to ask her a LOT of questions. She encourages you to not give up and just ASK FOR HELP!She's there.
She isnt very helpful. She responds with "you should know that already" or seems to get frustrated so she isn't very approachable. Her notes are sloppy and unorganized unless she just sticks to the powerpoint. The powerpoint is the only thing that is helpful! I should be getting an A in her class but all thanks to the powerpoint and studying! Not her
I am an "A" student. I believe if you show up to class, do all assignments and study hard you will pass. Not here. The lectures are confusing and she jumps around from section to section. Very "wishy-washy" about due dates and test review. Big disconnect between lecture and test. If you care about your GPA do not take her!
Honest opinion:dont take her. Her lectures are VERY CONFUSING, to the point that when I went home and studied all by myself, I was like wow this is like 1+2. Tests are REALLY hard, to the point that on one test people got from 0-50% average. Some kids say chem is hard, but its not if you have a good teacher that explains well. and shes unorganized.
I took her Introductory Chemistry class and thought she was kind of wonderful. She has a thick Mediterranean accent and speaks slowly which is a BLESSING in a chemistry class. Don't miss class. She's sweet, but she won't accept excuses. She tells you exactly what she expects from you although sometimes is unhelpful. Labs are easy 85% of the time.
She's a very nice professor and she trys really hard to help everyone get a good grade. She gives extra credit to help with your grade. 4 tests and final. if you read the your notes and show up to class you'll pass. Would totally take another class with her :)
This is one of the classes where half of class would drop. I know chem is hard, but this teacher makes it harder. Shes not good at teaching at all. If you take this class you need to study by your own. Probably worst teacher ive ever taken. shes unorganized for labs. Tests are tough. half of class got 50%. If you take this, be ready to fail.
Nice Lady, terrible teacher. She is unhelpful, and has actually refused to answer a question. Her lectures are confusing and incomplete, she skips around her PP presentation and only goes over a small fraction of it. Be prepared to teach yourself chemistry. I would never take her again. She does not have passion for teaching and it shows.
Worst teacher ever took in MY life. Let me explain: Really REALLY confusing teaching. She skips over teaching(PPT's) and tells you, you need to study your own. This teacher is NOT passionate about teaching At ALL. You will not learn anything in this class. The tests are tough. To the point that, most students got 60% on it(not the first test).
She is definitely the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. Avoid her if you can. She has refused to ask questions and gets mad when we do not know the answers. Maybe we don't know because you're awful at teaching! Thank goodness she doesn't teach our lecture. Having her as a lab professor is bad enough.
she's not a good teacher, no motivation in her class lectures. doenst give specifics on what to do on lab days
people were dropping the class left and right
Was hardest class I have taken yet. Failed a few test and quizzes however do all the homework and Labs. I was still able to get a good grade. She is willing to grade on a curve at times and does whatever she can to help you. Its up to you to do the work and study. Its not a show up and get an A type of class.
Honestly, she was not that bad. Very sweet lady who is commended to helping her students. Unfortunately, her accent makes lecture and lab very difficult when you don't understand a concept and she can't explain it. The extra credit balances everything out though. Just study hard and do all the extra credit and you will be absolutely fine!
I would take this class again, this is because her test a easy enough to pass especially if you study everyday and she will not throw any curve balls at you. What will help you grade is doing ALL of the online homework and quizzes, and be sure to do the extra credit. You have to put effort into this class to pass.
Professor is real chill. She's funny and down to earth. Labs are pretty chill too. She's is available if you have any questions or need help.
This professor is super sweet and laid back. Taking chemistry in high school was rough for me but professor Bazargan helped me actually understand the subject. What helps a lot is she allows small cheat sheets on each test and allows calculators. Each lab is 10 points and you get the points if you show up and complete the lab, which helps a lot!
She's a pretty average chemistry teacher. You can tell she cares about her students understanding the lectures however you have to be ready to put time into studying. Her lectures cover a lot of information and taking organized notes is extremely helpful. She has an accent so sometimes it takes a little bit of close listening to understand her
She is clearly passionate about the subject, but it is hard to understand her. It's not her strong-ish Persian accent, but rather her teaching style and attitude. ex: half the stuff she goes over is not on the tests, especially during test review days in class. Make sure you put your head in your notes and you won't need a book to pass like I did
She really cares about her students and is passionate about chemistry, but her lectures are unorganized and her accent is hard to understand. Ask her a question? Leave more confused. The tests include questions that her lectures and the textbook don't cover. The only reason I did well in the class is because she allowed a notecard for every test.
she wants you to listen to her, but it's just not clear or concise. she gets VERY irritated if you go up to her and ask a question. it's just ironic how irritated she gets for the simple questions. very controlling. makes me sad to be in the class.
If you've never taken chemistry before, or you're not confident with chemistry, find another teacher. She's nice, and I feel like she means well, but at least in her summer class, the workload was insane, her lectures were unclear and unorganized, and her quizzes were long and unpredictable. I depended on past knowledge and self teaching.
Don't be discouraged by the ratings, Dr.B is an amazing professor. She cares for her students and is always available to help you. The subject itself is hard, students I think just got used of being spoon fed with all the information, and questions that will pop up in the tests. If you want to retain what you've learned, take her class.
She didn't seem very knowledgeable on the subject and didn't do a good job at answering our questions or emails. At the start of the course she made it very confusing to understand our homework. I failed my first exam because I had no idea what was going to be on it. She also doesn't offer any extra credit. I wouldn't take her again.
Very straightforward class and makes more sense if you read too. she's very chill and down to earth, gave us some extra credit and understands technical issues. She goes over the material very well and corresponds to the test. solid choice!!!
I thought Dr Bs class was straight forward and organized well. You have to be dedicated though. There is a PPT, lectures and lab every week. Plus ALEKS for homework. My best advice is that if you take this class seriously and dedicate yourself, you'll do well. Learned that the hard way. Also she expects you to listen to lectures on your own time
Caring and kind. Signed up for a class with an online meeting. Showed up the first day and found that it she changed it to a completely online class. Labs and worksheets are done on a online software. Tests and homework are kinda hard given how much there is to do and how they do not correlate all the time to her lectures and the textbook.
Alex the worst program ever! Very disappointing! No extra credit!
Most of the material is straight forward if you have a background in chem. However, ALEKS is the main source for HW and is the absolute worst program. Most stuff from lectures isn't even on the HW. Also she will mark down online labs for the littlest things, which kept bringing my grade down. Doesn't even explain what you did wrong on the labs.
P. Bazargan was not that great. For starters, her lectures were dull and not engaging. She uses Aleks for the homework, tests and quizzes the worst online learning platform just because how frustrating it is. Labs were messy and not explained. I would only take again because she allowed you to skip the final if your homework grade was high.
The tests are very easy since they are based entirely on the ALEKS homework. Her labs on the otherhand, are quite difficult. She doesn't enjoy teaching. Honestly, she will make you feel incompetent for even asking questions during lab. I had to constantly reach out to tutors for help.
I took her class last year. Online classes, recorded lectures, in-person labs, and some Zoom sessions. Zoom sessions and online labs were canceled. I don't know why they were canceled. Her lectures didn't cover everything on Aleks. I basically taught myself the class via Aleks and the textbook. You could skip the final if you did enough homework.
The exams are easy to study for, only because they are based 100% on the online homework system. She doesn't seem to enjoy teaching, though. It's hard to pay attention when she's talking. She can be quite mean when you ask her questions about the lab. Do the homework and read through all the lab instructions a day in advance.
Get ready to teach yourself the entire class. Very unclear explanations during labs. Clearly does not enjoy her job and seems irritated by student asking questions. Her lecture videos don't cover anything on the hw, had to teach myself all ALEKS topics. Also hw took hours and hours everyday and still didn't always have time to finish.
Tests are based on HW. Study Guides are 3/4 useless, your allowed 1/2p notes on Test. Professor B means well, she wants you to succeed, some say she gets irritated by questions, not true - she's just not as talented of a lecturer - but it doesn't matter, use YouTube to learn. Online class is convenient. Chemistry is a Dragon, prepare to Study!
Avoid!!! She seems like she does not want to teach at all. You ask her to clarify and she just mumbles and points at the board. Her English is fine for conversation, but for explaining complicated chemical processes, its lacking. She only has one way to explain and if you do not get it, you are out of luck. Get ready to teach yourself from YouTube!
This professors teaching style is independent learning, so if your not decent at independent learning I wont recommend this class for you at all. However If your already stuck in her class and have no escape I recommend that you study the Aleks topics instead of her actual lectures and that you fully understand her syllabus and policies.
She doesn't know how to teach a class. You are cooked!!
labs are taken in person, most of her lecture videos don't cover anything that on the exam. Exams are based on the aleks homework system. Getting an A or B is doable just be ready to teach yourself the entire system. Most of her grades come from the exams.
Literally the entire class is based on the Aleks homework so I stopped watching her lecture videos two weeks in because they didn't cover anything on the homework. If you want an A watch Roxi Hulet's YouTube videos on the Aleks topics and go over everything a couple of days before the tests because all the questions are just copy/pasted from Aleks.
Took the hybrid class w/lab. I was retaking chem which is how I got an A. She's useless & didn't have office hrs. Online lectures were SO bad, I used the chem txtbook + constant tutoring. Thnkfuly she got rid of Aleks program. Only graded on lab hw + tests. Don't recommend to ppl if taking chem 1st time. If ur able to teach yourself you'll be fine!
