You know the drill; this guy doesn't teach, just writes on the board; if you don't understand, too bad; don't take him unless you know him personally, maybe then you can pass....no graphing calcs allowed.....bad news/waste of money

Horrible, Terrible, just plain suck. This teacher acts like he wants to fail all his students. Grading is extremely harsh and horrible. Plus what the other raters commented. Learn lots of proofs.

All I can say is, I DROPPED THE CLASS! Hope that helps.

I hate him I hate his class and I wish never to see him again. This class is harder than a UC class and I plan on staying at a UC and spending more money than taking a chance at getting a fool like him. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS unless you want to fail.

The worst teacher I have ever had! He plays games and has a attitude when he teaches. Other times he trys to be funny in class. He will trick you while teaching. He hates on women and is very prejudice towards most people. Bottom line....he SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

Deliberately tries to fail people. Makes a LOT of mistakes when trying to do problems, yet still thinks he knows his stuff.

I thought i was pretty good with math until i took this guys class...DONT TAKE IT. yes, it sucks. He makes alot of mistakes on the board and skips steps when doing problems, then he looks at the students and wonders why they look dazed and confused. you fail the final...you fail the class. bad times

Very, very tough teacher! I think he enjoys failing students and almost makes the material seem more difficult than it really is. If you ask a question, you get a response that makes you feel like an idiot for not knowing. Been around forever. Likes you if you play sports.

I'll tell you straight, I am surprised that Hayashi still teaches. He is unhelpful, rude, and I wouldn't be shocked if he disliked his job. Alright I'll give you the down-low. So this teacher's a real ****, but this is is the way you get a C without trying; just average a D. Must take all 3 test and the Final. He gives ex.credit quizze(s) almost every class, which u can just put ur name on and turn in. Take every single quiz then u earn one letter grade higher. MUST TAKE EVERY QUIZ!

He degrades the class and constantly tells everyone how dumb they are. Go to class everyday to take all of the quizzes and then he will raise your final grade one letter. Its really the only way to do decent in the class.

Hayashi is the worst teacher I have seen. All of the bad things said about him are true. Focus is not on teaching but on his ego and how stupid his students are. Abusive teacher. IVC must confront him and deal with this serious problem.

He consistently bored me to death during lectures. I would often lose focus during lectures and would wind up going through the book during the lecture to TRY to learn something. The only time I remotely understood him was as he mumbled his way through the example problems which, WERE FOUND IN THE BOOK! Don't take his class!

First off, he's always late to class. I'm talking ten minutes or more. Then he spends a few minutees erasing the board until it's spotless, then he "teaches". He messes up on a problem every day and will not catch himself. If you don't get it, he gets annoyed and talks to you like you're an idiot. He goes off topic A LOT.

one of the worst teachers i have ever encountered. the class is 50% midterm 50% final. that's it- no hw. quizzes are extra credit but he barely gives any so there's no point. no curve. no study guide. doesn't listen to students. MAKES TONS OF MISTAKES when teaching. going to class is pointless.

Has his back to the class almost the whole time. Is not interactive with students. Does not actually teach the class, just gives the solutions to the problems without giving us the lesson.

If you already know trig (or w/e math), you can take this class since you only need to show up for the midterm and final. Otherwise, avoid Hayashi at ALL COSTS. Seriously. You have more hope of learning math if you stay home and attempt to be taught by your dog. He's mean to people that ask questions, and can't be bothered to explain intelligibly.

I do not like the way he teach the class at all. He does give you extra credit, which is something your need. There are only two tests for your grade ( mid and final).

Class is horrible. Calc is hard as it is, he makes it torturous. Doesn't answer questions, doesn't care, very insulting. you'll be better off studying on your own. The only good thing is, the final exam grade, if higher than what you had in class, becomes your class grade which is doable because he gives you a practice exam WHICH IS THE FINAL EXAM

He told us that every year certain profs got turn to choose classes they want. And this year, Hayashi didn't got the chance. he ended up with Math 8 class. The point is that lower level of math is unwanted by profs because he thinks that students in low level of math are stupid. He is AIDS to your GPA! He'll kill your GPA!!

His class could be over within an hour but he makes you do many problems so you "understand" the section better. If you take this class get a tutor!

His method is to write the problem, quickly solve it, and tell you that it's your job to find out how he came to that answer. IVC should be ashamed at themselves for allowing such a person to teach!

Waste of money and time. Dont bother even if his class is the last one available. No explanation, hands out quizes before even lecturing on the material, talks about history more than math, no partial credit, out of touch, cant even find a good thing to say about the class.

He ensures to make every day as stressful as possible. Yells at students a lot--everyday he says every single word in a loud and angry tone and it makes me feel like I'm at a military boot camp! So rude, talks down to his students, never even bothers to care about their feelings! Honestly, he seriously needs to knock some sensitivity into himself.
