Great teacher. Very helpful and nice. He doesn't make you feel like a complete idiot when you don't understand something. There are three tests and a final. All homework and quizzes are on MyMathLab. He lets you use a"help sheet" on tests. If you're taking a trig, take him!
Uchida is a great guy. He is very helpful especially outside of class. On clarity, he can be a bit hard to understand at times but has a good sense of humor and likes to refer to math problems as "this guy." He does follow his attendance policy but he is very lenient and will accept most any excuse with a note. I recommend him for Trig.
Nice, but extremely difficult. Gives chances to do better, for example take home parts in tests. Online hw and quizzes differ a bit from in-class stuff.
Very easy if you go to class. He is extremely helpful when you ask questions. Tests quizzes and homework are online. Follows his attendance policy, but will take excuses. Awesome teacher! I would recommend to anyone!
textbook mandatory but used mathlab. Math lab is very helpful. attendance is mandatory, you are punished after missing 2 days with points dropped from final grade.
If you get Dr. Uchida, you're SOOO LUCKY!!! He's wonderful and funny! I was so scared about having to take calculus, but he simplifies everything and makes it so easy to understand! I made an A on all the exams! You don't have to go to class, but there's a reward if you do. TAKE HIM!!! p.s. don't worry about his accent, you'll get over it in a day.
Uchida was SO nice. He gives you a study guide before each test that is a replica of the exam, just with different numbers. I went to class about 70% of the time and got an A. I was scared of calculus but he really simplified things and doesn't try to trick you
Dr. Uchida is far one of the best foreign math professors ive taken. He makes it as simple as possible and makes sure you understand. He didnt give study guides for ALL the tests for my class but they're fairly easy if u review the homework. He's very reasonable. He throws in a few jokes here in there. I would hightly recommend him!
He was a really nice teacher, but he was hard to understand at times because of his accent and how he speaks sort of monotone. Was helpful and rounded up my grade when I was a point off. He let me see him early in the mornings for help and was really chill.
This gu is great!! he may not be American but he speaks English very well. he is very understanding and cares about the class. also if you have a question he will help you until you get it. tests are fairly easy and homeworks are all online with unlimilted attempts. TAKE HIMMM
Great professor! Teaches all the material needed for the tests. All homework is on my math lab and it is very similar to test questions. I recommend taking him for calc 1, if you do the homework and go to class you should get an A.
Good teacher to take if you're not math minded. All of the work and quizzes are on mymathlab. Just make sure to keep up with the work on there
A very helpful guy, Dr. Uchida was such a sweet man. I went to his office hours a lot, and he would patiently sit with me and explain anything in great detail. You have to come to class or you'll be penalized. Great guy, but his tests are tough.
If you really want to learn calculus, take Dr. Uchida. He speaks english very well and is very helpful in teaching calculus. Great teacher!
THIS IS THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE HAD A GSU!!!! LOVES HIS JOB AND WANTS YOU TO DO WELL. TAKE HIMMMM IF YOU ARE GOOD WITH MATH OR IF YOU ABSOLUTELY SUCK
You MUST do the online homework to pass this class. A lot of it is unlimited attempts. If you take the time to go to the math lab, the tutors will help you. The test problems come from the homework so make sure you know how to do them. I got an A and I HATE CALCULUS. He's a good and helpful teacher.
Wonderful teacher!! Everything is online, and my class was easy, so I didn't even pay attention in class unless there was a topic tht I was unsure of-which was rare! Take this man!!!!!!
Great teacher. Made math very easy. Definitely recommend him.
He's a pretty nice guy. His tests are always a little more difficult than what he teaches and the sample tests he gives us to study, but if you study hard enough you can get a good grade.
Love him! He's super helpful and really nice. Plus he can't really pronounce L's so it's adorable to hear him talk about "rimits"!
He made class so understandable. All the notes were online. And he gives you more than enough time to do your online homework.Everything is online really, but coming to class is important too. Also if you need to go to his office hours his is more than welcome to help you. With notes and hw. Bring your laptop and he will help. Great teacher!!
Attendance is mandatory, you can only skip two classes without it lowering your grade. He makes things very clear and it's clear what he expects of you. You can work ahead and everything is online except the tests (sorta) which need to be taken in the math lab.
I had him for a hybrid class so we only went over notes in class and all the hw quizzes and test were done online Most of the math was math that I had done in high school so it was fairly easy however this is a hybrid class so you probably shouldnt take hybrid if you aren't that good at math you should take a regular class with him hes really cool
Professor Uchida is actually one of the best teachers I have had at GSU. He explains everything really well and will bump up your 89.5 to an A at the end of the year. As long as you do the study guides the tests are really easy.
Uchida was very hard to understand at times and wasn't much help during lectures.
Mr. Uchida turned me on to math; I took Calc 1 with him as a freshman Philosophy major interested in pushing myself with math, and ended up a Statistics major who loves the mathematical theory. Clear lecturer, very helpful if you have questions. Tests are heavily based off of the material covered in class; gives helpful practice tests too. A+.
Uchida is by far the worst professor I have ever had at Georgia Southern. He disliked some rowdy students in my class and took it out on all his students. His unfairness was uncalled for, and he will not help you at all. Impossible to understand. His policies are unclear, and he assigns HW without notice at random times. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
He lacks understanding. You could send him an email of a screenshot of your homework page showing that you could not complete an assignment due to any reason, and he won't try to help you out. He doesn't care for excuses, not even if you personally hand him a doctors note, or sees you are in a bind. He's not tough, but he lacks understanding.
Take him if you are bad at math but willing to try. I failed every test including the finals with high to low 60's but because I had a 95 homework average and a 98 quiz average that kept my overall grade at 70.5 at the end of the semester. he also drops four lowest quiz and homework grades at the end of the semester. His lectures don't help though.
the tests questions are straight from homework, quizzes, and in class problems. hard to understand sometimes but I really enjoyed his class.
Uchida is absolutely wonderful. I've had him for two different classes. As long as you go to class, he's willing to help you out. He's a genuinely nice guy too. Take him!
Uchida is really nice. all homework, quizzes, and tests were online. Can do homework and quizzes at homes, but have to go to special test taking room for actual tests. Class could be stale sometimes but he always knew what he was doing. He says from beginning ALOT that there is no makeup. You can't say he didn't tell you if you forget something.
Mr. Uchida was a good teacher overall. Most of the time you could comprehend what he was teaching. He does give pop quizzes, but if you ask at the beginning of class, he will tell you if you have one or not. Most of the time the pop quizzes are on Monday. Test-wise, you have to study the notes and problems that he gives in class.
Professor Uchida knows his stuff. He's a funny guy, but expects you to work hard. Expect a challenge, especially if you struggle in math. I had to work my tail off to keep up with him. However, I learned a lot. I recommend taking him if you want to learn, but be prepared to work. You have to go every day or you'll be behind and lose points.
Mr. Uchida is a good teacher. He knows math. He gives quizzes on Mondays but they are short and cover what is covered in class. His test you need to study for and make sure you can do the problems without a calculator. Other than that the guy is fair and a good teacher. I would recommend if you want to be challenged and learn something!
He moves through things at a consistent pace, so keep up. You're not going to want to skip class because of his attendance policy and weekly quizzes. Uchida is very respectful and approachable, even though he might not look like it. He makes it VERY possible to pass. He drops lowest grades and answers all questions. I plan on taking him again.
Only take him if you're in his hybrid class. He isn't a very good teacher, but in the hybrid class you only meet once a week. All the homework and quizzes are online but it is not difficult. Definitely take if you're in the hybrid class but if not it could be hard.
Allows two absences before he starts deducting your grade. Everything is online (can be self-taught), but class can be helpful cause he walks you through the problems. I mostly just sat there and zoned out though tbh. Pretty easy-going guy. I'm not a math person, so I had to work really hard the entire semester for my A but it was totally worth it.
Great professor. Made this class so easy. Just show up and listen and you will pass.
Pre-Calc: He takes attendance every day; every Monday your attendance is taking a pop quiz. Homework for every section (33), 13 quizzes , and 3 tests and a final. You can drop lowest test grade ONLY with final test grade, less than 2 days missing, and 80 average in test/quiz. Got to take 4 quizzes home. Tests are harder than homework. Minimal ExCr.
The hybrid algebra class with Professor Uchida is very straightforward. All of the graded work online is easy to learn and do well on. He does not allow too many absences from his class, so it's important to go to the lectures even though they don't really help. He is pretty funny though which makes the math bearable.
Dr. U is a great professor. On the first day, he made himself seem very strict/scary, but besides the fact that attendance is mandatory, he's really chill. He has no problem pausing in the middle of a lecture to answer any question or explain a problem. If you show up to every class, there is honestly no reason you should get less than a B.
He is an incredible professor. He makes the subject matter easy to learn and always asks if anyone has any questions and explains why an answer is or isn't possible in great detail. He cares and will do everything to help but he won't give you a easy a. If you put in the work to actually learn the subjects and study you get the grade simple as that
Calculus was a brand new concept to me. For the first few weeks I was very lost and confused, but thanks to Professor Uchida I was able to catch up in no time. He elaborates on questions extremely well so that if you have a question it is easily answered with step by step descriptions. Fantastic professor and an extremely nice and funny man. Thanks
Professor Uchida is a reasonable man and he really appreciates hard work and doing what is expected of you! Skip his class and you won't pass, work hard and you'll get the grade you earn. I would definitely take him again . Also note that my experience with him was in his trig class for five weeks unlike most who have him for much longer.
Pretty good professor. He answers any questions you have, even if he is midsentence. He tries to crack a joke every now and then. He has an accent, but you can understand him just fine. All homework and quizzes are online, so you get the grade you earn. He also drops several of your lowest quizzes and homeworks at the end of the semester.
Pretty good professor. Easy to pass if you do all of your assignments, but you really have to work for an A. All work is done online, but attending lectures is still mandatory. He will not curve you grade, so don't bother asking. He is also helpful during class and willing to answer any question
To be fair, he's a fine lecturer and there are lots of opportunities to get help if you're struggling, but for the hybrid class, everything including lecture ppts were online, so mandatory attendance felt unnecessary and boring. I'd recommend that, if you're strong at algebra, just do online not hybrid.
The class is not hard but he gave the hardest tests I have ever taken. If I had another teacher I probably would have had an A. Tests averages are usually like 50s and he doesnt curve. Hes a cool guy and he teaches pretty well but he made his tests extra difficult for no reason so I hate him.
His exam are extra difficult and he DOESN'T curve. His test averages are insanely low because the problems worked in class are much simpler than the problems on the exam. I feel like you have to really love math and know all equations from previous classes to do well in this class. I wouldn't suggest taking this professor.
Don't Take him no matter what, He does not believe in curving anything and thinks that if the highest grade on the test out of all his students was a C that it was too easy of a test. Unless you are a genius do not take him. The Calc 3 math tutors have trouble doing some of his questions, so good luck to anyone else trying.
He laughs in the face of students when we ask serious questions. Test do not reflect what is learned in class or the sample exams he post. If you do take this prof, use outside sources like Math Lab or Cone Hall.
Once you understand him his class is pretty easy. Took him for Algebra Hybrid. He was strict about phones and conversation. I never found his test to be hard or easy. It is very lecture heavy and goes through a lot in that time but is very good about going through it clearly. Homework is a big part of the grade to make up for some ofthe harder test
He wasn't that good in the sense of teaching, and he would make the tests extremely hard. A lot harder than his sample exams and any examples given in class. I was so close to a B but the final killed me. Do yourself a favor and don't take him. My entire class did awful and there's other calc professors that are a lot easier and I wish I knew that
Moves very fast. Taught 2-3 lessons per class period so it is very easy to fall behind. There was a pop quiz almost every other class period so if you skip you will probably miss a quiz. No extra credit.
I would've had a 4.0 this semester, but he counted my 91 as a B on my transcript. It's really frustrating to know other friends have a 90.5 in their classes, and get an A but my 91 is a B. And he does not curve. Even if you're .1 away, like i was. Sucks. The homework and quizzes are more in depth than his notes. It takes a while to do his work.
I took his class as a hybrid for college algebra and I was able to pass with an A but not at all because of him or his lectures or his help. He makes attendance mandatory when everything that I learned I taught myself from the online homework. He was very unhelpful and rude to me when I would ask him for help. I would not recommend taking him.
There was more homework in this class than in all of my other classes combined. I am usually very good when it comes to online classes, but this class was just overwhelming. Takes attendance very seriously. I taught myself most if not all of this class.
I had him for a hybrid class that started with about 140 students, by the withdrawl date I think we were down to 113. And I can assure 100 of those people were half asleep, at least 10 WERE asleep, and the last 3 were stocked to be there. He was unimaginably dull.
Dr. Uchida is first and foremost, clear about his expectations. He's fair, but don't expect any leniency. He's pretty good at teaching (and I suck at math), but his attendance policy is very strict. The homework, and above all else the test reviews, are super important. Dr. Uchida will help you succeed, but this isn't a class to mess around in.
expects you to follow his way and only his way extremely difficult rarely gives extra credit DO NOT TAKE HIM if you can avoid it
He has a bit of an accent but it's easy to adjust to. I had an 8am lecture so the class was quiet. He goes through information quickly as there is a lot of material to cover. He tells you when the first quiz is, but the rest are a surprise. Some quizzes can be done as a group. He rounded my grade at the end of the semester with my asking.
He is a very nice man. I am awful at math, so this class was a challenge for me. He went a bit to fast for my liking. He can be very helpful tho!
He makes his expectations clear on the first day of class, no extra credit, no late work, you must work for your grade and the class was exactly that, you have to pay attention in class, he has an accent but it's not bad at all, a very good math teacher but you have to work hard. Wasn't a problem for me though.
He has expectations for his class that he is very clear about on the first day and sticks to those rules. Lots of hw but it really helps you for the tests! If you do all the hw and quizes you are sure to get an A on the tests! There is a strict attendance policy but going to the class is important so you can be prepared for the weeks work.
Honestly, he was a wonderful professor, but he was one of the hardest professors I've ever taken. His test are extremely difficult, and he gives pop quizzes every week. Really easy to talk to, but if you ask a stupid question, he'll laugh in your face.
This professor does not care about your grades. There is no extra credit. Class lasts until lecture is over, about 30 minutes. Will give no mercy for grades. If you miss more than 3 classes your grade goes down a letter point, and 5 classes missed is a F.
There is lots of homework and quizzes. If you skip class you will fail. Lectures go fast. Overall is a very nice person but extremely tough professor.
Don't let the reviews on here sway you. He is very easy to get along with and very personable. He even explains his attendance policy the first day of class and gives you plenty of notice that if you plan on being absent a lot to switch to a different class. He's a good teacher and is very patient but doesn't talk your ear off for the lecture.
One of the worst professor I have had at Georgia Southern. He teaches straight off of a power point and does not care how hard someone works in his class. He doesn't use the normal grading scale so to have an A you have you have a 92 or above and ect. If you can get around taking this professor I highly recommend doing that.
He is a very tough grader. His test and quizzes are very hard, you have to take your time studying or you wont do good in this class. Also you have to pay attention to his syllabus. Don't take him if you don't have to.
This was an online course, but it was super easy. Uchida didn't give us loads of work, and was more of a hands-off teacher.
If you struggle even a little bit with tests, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. His exams are worth 70% of your grade. His tests are different in content completely from the homework and quizzes. Also, he doesn't post the due dates for assignments until a few days before. This class will stress you out, if you usually take time to prepare yourself.
The lectures move extremely fast making it difficult to understand what we were learning. Also, the homework and quizzes have little to do with the exams. Professor Uchida is an extremely nice person and will help you outside of class if you ask. However, if struggle with math at all do not take this professor.
Overall Professor Uchida is a wonderful guy. He offers tons of help with office hours and tutoring, but his tests and the final exam are worth so much and they are very hard! If you are a bad test taker do not take him. He also has a weird grading scale, 72%-81% is a C, 82%-91% is a B, 92%-100% is an A. He also does not drop any tests or quizzes.
Professor Uchida is nice, but if you are even slightly a bad test taker I would not recommend. Ive pulled all-nighters for this class, studied several days prior to exams, went to tutoring and still managed to do bad. Very hard to get your average back up once you bomb one of those exams. Mentally draining, can't even describe the stress I felt.
If you arent a good test taker wouldnt recommend, hes a nice man 1 on 1 but in lectures he goes fast
sucks at answering emails, moves fast in lectures, and tests are extremely hard. what makes them even more stressful is the people that work at math & physics 3000 are literally breathing down ur neck as u take the test. no professor should take pride in stressing out their students.
I passed his class with a C. The professor himself is great. Hes great at explaining and accessible to students. If you dont put in the work, you will not do well; simple. I barely passed because I put in minimal work. Definitely pay attention and attendance is required!!!!
He's fun, straightforward, good at answering questions, & likes a lot of participation. Assignments are due every class day on a really helpful online platform. Bc of in class quizzes, I'd do the hw on the off day to be prepared. You can pass easily! My only struggle was attendance being graded, so I don't recommend any early classes with him.
Does not care if you pass or fail his class. Be careful of his grading scale, a 92 is an A. Lectures move too fast with unclear PowerPoints and information. In a class of over 100, less than 50 were left by the end between people dropping/withdrawing from his course. If you have no other choice, you will survive, however pass him up if you can
I missed a few classes last semester due to personal issues, and he informed me while I was taking an exam that there was no way I could pass the class with the number of absences I received. I am terrible at math, but I tried my hardest for this class and still failed. Homework takes forever, and the tests are some of the hardest exams I've taken.
Definitely a great professor. I am really good at math so I got a decent grade, but if you're not as good his tests may be a bit much. Definitely show up to class each time, it really helps. Gave a few opportunities to get a few points back on tests. Definitely would take him for calc 2 if I could.
I had to drop this professor around week 4 or 5 on my first semester because I did not realize he did pop quizzes after every lesson. I would not recommend.
If you aren't the worlds best test taker I wouldn't recommend, as the test weigh the most than any other part of the course and if you fail one exam you're pretty much struggling all semester (even if you do the homework and quizzes).
3-5 question pop quizzes after every homework. Everything is online (pearson) except for the test in the small class size. I am ALWAYS in the tutoring lab which most math professors recommend. GO TO THE TUTORING LAB. He is very nice outside of class and caring during class. Pretty straight forward and to the point. Will answers questions in class.
I took him in a hybrid class where we only met once a week. All homework and quizzes were online w/ unlimited attempts. I do have friends that take his other version of class and they say it is alot harder because of various reasons. Honestly you pass if you actually try for my class reviews were given before every test and they seriously helped!
Great guy. Im awful at math and finished with a high B. Tests are worth a lot, I recommend using the math lab. Daily pop quizzes were my least favorite, theyre over material from the class before not that day. Hes very funny and straightforward with expectations. If youre not a math person and have to take math, take his class. Sit in the front
I really respect Professor Uchida. I am not so good at math, but he explains everything so well so it was easier to understand. He is very attentive to his class, and makes sure to ask if anyone has questions. I 10/10 recommend him but just be aware about skipping his class, because he gives out quizzes from the previous lecture.
I LOVE HIM! His lectures are so good, and will always answer questions. He provided the powerpoints he uses in class online so you can go back and see all of it, and he really helps you understand it all. There is a couple of hw assignments every week but they are pretty easy if you follow along. He is so caring and really cares ab his students
He only grades by three tests and a final which are worth 90% of your grade so if you fail one test you're pretty much done in his class. Especially if you are bad at math. He offers no extra credit or anything helpful. You could do great on the homework and the test will be completely different and hard. Could barely understand him during lecture.
I'll be truthful and straight-forward. Take Professor Masahiko Uchida if you're already very very very good and top-notch at math. DO NOT FOR ANY REASON TAKE PROFESSOR MASAHIKO UCHIDA if you're average or not really good at math. I rest my case!
Extremely helpful and a great professor! Always willing to help to you!
DO NOT TAKE IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT MATH!!!!!!
He's a great professor. Very communicative. participation is mandatory, he counts attendance and if you miss like 7-9 classes you automatically fail, but there is a privilege for those who don't miss. I would take him again.
Lots of homework, due every other day of the week. He gives daily quizzes over the section we learned the previous class and is very strict on attendance.
He is an okay teacher but hard to understand. If your AMAZING at math then you should take him but if you are not drop immediately. Everyday that you have class you have a quiz except days you have tests. Also if you miss his class you will definitely be behind.
Very great g
VERY strict about attendance but it's because all the lessons and homework can be accessed online. Only three tests and a final, but he sets the tests up so if you fail the first two you can still drop. Don't have to be great at math to pass. Literally failed the first test and scored 75% on the final and ended up with a B.
Was a great professor and had a good time in the class. Make sure to ask questions if you are confused and he will be happy to answer them. He always provided extra clarification if needed and I would definitely recommend him!
Professor Uchida was one of my favorite professors/teachers I have ever had. I know it might sound crazy but I didn't even pass the class. I came up short by a couple points and that's on me but he is a very respectful straight forward kind of guy. Always a big help if you go to his office and ask questions.
The class can be hard but if you qualify for his criteria he will drop your lowest test grade which is nice. The inclass is all a lecture and the majority of the work is done online and you have to be in class or you will fall behind. He was very helpful when I went to his office hours and helped me understand anything I was having trouble with.
This class was easy if you already know basic high school algebra and can teach yourself how to do most of the problems. All of the assignments were on MyLab so if you don't understand something, it shows you how to do it. As for the professor, his lectures were hard to understand because of his accent but he's nice and attendance is mandatory.
The professor mainly uses slide shows to explain the material, and then you're on your own to figure out the work. This class is pretty much about self-learning unless you already know the content. Attendance is mandatory, and the professor will have someone check if you're in class. Overall, I didn't enjoy this class.
Terrible! Easily worst professor I've ever had! had him for ecore, has a TON of classwork, which you have to be excellent at math to get (which luckily I am good at math but even for me it was hard), he gives you a proctored exam which is outsourced to india instead of lockdown broswer, and he has the worst possible tests, hell on earth. No mercy.
WOULDNT RECOMMEND
Had his class hybrid. I wouldn't recommend, he's kinda hard to understand but not because of his accent he just speaks super fast. also it's hard to read his handwriting. 60 questions of homework and quiz online each week. test are easy but proctored. you can miss 3 days of class than he starts taking off 5 percent on your grade. class is boring
He was unhelpful in class. you can't really understand or hear him the majority of the time. His class is homework and quiz heavy. The tests can be difficult too if you don't know the material perfectly. homework has videos to teach how to do the math. I find them unhelpful and can't learn well from them. I would not take this professor ever again.
The grading scale for this class is psychotic. An 82 should not be a C (92 is a B). That combined with the 70% weight toward 3 tests and a cumulative final exam is just cruel. At least balance it with a higher homework grade percentage. The teacher is okay, but dear lord please give the students leeway with the grading scale and test weighting.
Probably the worst professor I've ever taken. His lectures are useless because you can't understand his accent. His class is setup to only succeed if you do well on the tests. If you do the homework it doesn't help your grade but if you don't it really damages your grade and there is a ton of homework. I would not suggest this guy to anyone
I personally enjoyed this class, but I would only take him if you're good at teaching yourself and good at math. Attendance is mandatory, and there's a lot of homework and quizzes but he drops the lowest four grades at the end. Plug and chug the tests and you'll be fine.
Unironically, the best math teacher I've ever had. Just attend the lecture and you'll be fine. You're allowed to use desmos on the test and you can retake the homework and quiz assignments. It is kinda hard to understand his accent, but he's a very chill teacher.
This is a hybrid class so expect to do all work outside of class. If you're good at math and can teach yourself, the class won't be hard. Being able to use Desmos on the tests saved my grade, as his lectures are not great. Hard to understand and intimidating, but not awful
Lowkey my fault that I didn't get a higher grade in this class, I would complete work weeks after it was due, and each day it's late, 5 points get taken off. This class is very straightforward, no surprise tests or anything, and everything is laid out for you the first day of class. Exams in person, quizzes and homework online.
The only bothersome thing was having to take quizzes every class and the constant homework. As someone with a low attention span, the homework helps a lot when you sometimes zone out during lectures. This class does not take too much effort and even when failing most of the in class quizzes and not studying days before the exam, i still did well.
Deadlines matter. Attendance matters. Most work was online and easy to complete, as you can redo anything until its deadline. He posts the slides he shows in class online so even if you struggle to hear during the lecture, it's easy to go back and see what was missed.
Professor Uchida's class can be tough, but worth it if you put in the work. Attend lectures, use the math lab, and try Unstuck study for extra practice - it really helped me stay on top of the material. Grading is challenging but fair.
Grades very hard and 70% of grade is exams.
If you try in this class you can succeed. He's extremely helpful I recommend tutoring and lots of studying. He offers extra credit as well and is very nice.
He was a pretty chill prof but takes attendance extremely seriously, literally counts how many students he has every class. I am really dumb at algebra but still managed an A. Try getting 100% on HWs and Quizzes, they'll help your final grade. You can do great in this class by simply using desmos, test reviews are LITERALLY the exams.
As a person he is very caring at times. However, I do not care for his teaching style. No extra credit. The final in my opinion is very difficult nothing like the tests or homework. It is worth 40 percent of the final grade so that is what dropped me if not careful. No formula sheet is given, nor does he tell you what formulas to remember.
He is a very nice man, but if you are not math-savy, or need help when it comes to math, do not take his class. It is perfect if you are a math person and would prefer one less class to go to, but if you are like me, you will be sitting at a failing grade.
He's a really nice teacher, but since math isn't my strong subject, I had to work extra hard in this class just to barely pass his tests. The class layout is good, but there's a lot of homework and grades aren't updated regularly. I needed help from a tutor for most of the units. It can be done but you are going to have to work.
He is an absolute sassafras. I had him for Math Modeling, which is super easy, and he is really good at explaining things. He is very strict on attendance; there were only two absences allowed, but my class only met once a week. There is a little bit of homework and a quiz every week. Overall, highly recommend, he is a great teacher.
Honestly, you'll have to teach yourself for most of this class. He's nice but hard to understand at times. His grading scale is kind of strict, there's no reason why a 90 should be considered a B. All the lecture slides and work is online, and desmos helps a lot. The test reviews are just like the exams. He's also strict on attendance.
