He is a little hard to understand at first, but it gets better. He's a wonderful teacher, and is very willing to spend time working outside of class on both Chem 215 and 216.

Koreeda is an extremely kind and intelligent professor. I got sick in the middle of the semester, and on top of helping me catch up, he took time to ask how I was doing, too. I learned a lot from him.

Good lecturer, though his accent is a little heavy. I had him during spring term. Go to office hours, study closely the old exams--his exams are pretty straightforward. also: has beautiful handwriting.

Prof. Koreeda is the most dedicated prof I have ever had. He is in the Lab since 5:00 am in the morning util the late hours of the evening. I wrote him an e-mail with a question late at night and got an answer within 10 min...and this happend many times.

This man is not only more than enough for your needs as a struggling organic chemistry student, but he'll be the cutest japanese man you've ever seen. He goes above and beyond to help you out...use the resources he gives you (random office hours on the weekends)

Dr. Koreeda is a very sweet man. He's enthusiastic and funny and definitely knows his stuff. Unforutnately, following along in class proves to be very difficult because the man goes at the speed of light. It's impressive, but not helpful. The labs themselves are fine and he helps. Lectures are what prove difficult as well as exams.

His lectures went too fast for me to follow a lot, but GO TO OFFICE HOURS! He is extrememly helpful, very accomidating to busy schedules, and genuinely likes helping his students. Even if you've fallen a little behind, he doesn't make you feel bad about it. He just wants to help.

This man truly cares about his students and their progress in his class. Unfortunately for his students, he is ambidextrous and writes with both hands, making it extremely hard to keep up. Much material is presented in a short amount of time. Without practice problems, don't be optimistic about your grade. Even keeping on top of work can =bad grade

Probably the most organized and dedicated professor on campus. For me, he'd be an excellent course coordinator or tutor but, his lecture style didn't work. He draws mechanisms on the board, then examples, and never explains the concept. This doesn't work for everyone, I learned MUCH more with Coppola/Nolta in Orgo 1. Try him and see I guess...

This professor is really awesome! He is a little hard to follow sometimes and the exams are really, really hard, but he is trully concerned about the performance of his students. He is always willing to help you with any questions you have. Office hours are very helpful! You'll find him in his ofice literally all the time.

He is seriously my favorite professor thus far. Masato is always available to help... just email him and he'll get back to you right away and can meet all the time. He is one of the most dedicated professors with respect to helping his students learn. He also likes to chat too, which is kinda fun. I'd recommend taking is class if you can.

This man is so thorough. His website gives you everything you need in case if you didn't catch it the first time around. Plus he's very amiable in person. Oh yeah, and he cuts lots of breaks. I showed up two hours late for the final, and he still let me take it.

Prof. Koreeda is second to none when it comes to teaching. He is ambidextrous, so he writes (and thinks) about twice as fast as you will, but it gets better after a while. Office hours= 24/7, which is extremely helpful. Exams are hard, but what else do you expect from an organic class? Also, he really likes to talk, and is really funny.

Koreeda was a great prof, but a little hard to understand at times. Stay ahead of the material and do the coursepack early. And go to his office hours, he's extremely helpful.

Really really funny professor, he says a lot of side comments that are absolutely hilarious if you are paying attention. The lab itself is really boring and the lab reports suck, but the professor is a good guy, and 24/7 office hours are REALLY nice!!!

great man with a passion for chemistry, but not as good of a teacher. always teaches by examples, not through the fundamental concepts of the material. exams are difficult but manageable. the class+lab involve a crazy load of work but in the end most people get recognized for their hard work by getting an A of some sort. a class worth taking.

i never attended lecture.. i just couldn't stand his accent. but he is a nice guy, and he is always willing to meet with you outside of class. weekly prelabs. weekly quizzes. 10 lab reports plus 2 exams. work load is hard but it's a good class. good professor. great guy.

I <3 Masato Koreeda. His class is easier than other Orgo II sections, because he tells you EXACTLY what will be on the exams. He really wants to help his students. And he hand-delivers the exams and a pencil shapener right as the exam is beginning. What other professor that teaches a 300+ student class would do that?

Just take orgo 2 with Koreeda. His world is chemistry. He'll have office hours on saturdays for you if you need it. He'll tell you all of the things you need to know for an exam, hold extra study sessions... he's wonderful!

His accent is hard to understand at first, but by the end of the semester you'll be used to it. He's a great teacher and always accessible. He will meet on weekends and he leaves large hints as to exactly which topics will be on the exam.

Fantastic! He spends more time perched in his office, patiently waiting to help students, than a fish spends in water. He was so excited that his class was doing so well but we could not have done it without his persistence. Great professor. Easy, but he genuinely wants you to learn the material also.

Double honors with Professor Koreeda is an AMAZING class. The weekly quiz schedule can be hard to adjust to if you are used to waiting until right before the exam to start studying. However, Koreeda is hysterical and makes it a priority to help you get a good grade in the class. On the down side, you do have to take SSG...

so dedicated. lots of office hours, and when you go to office hours, he is super helpful. i had some issues during exam time and he did everything possible to accomodate. very sweet! if you HATE orgo, but must take it, take it with him, he'll gladly help you through it.

Great teacher, he knows so much about Orgo and he is extremely helpful, even weekends. It isn't uncommon to come in on a Sunday and see his office door propped open.

Prof. Koreeda is amazingly in-depth ni explaining concept. He comes across clear, confident and drowns you in conceptual knowledge, but you feel like the info is being downloaded into your brain at 10 MBps. Writes on board VERY fast (ambidextereous plus a fast drawer), so be prepared to take notes non-stop. Overall an awesome professor all around.

A great professor! The lab lectures might seem hard to understand but don't worry, all you need to understand is the main concepts of each topic. His exams are fair; if you study the main concepts of each lab and do the practice exams you should be able to get a decent grade.

Dr. Koreeda is a very nice guy and is extremely helpful if you go to his office hours. He does have a thick accent, but if you sit down one on one with him he's awesome. He's definitely not intimidating, and this was a very manageable class (much more so than 215).

Dr. Koreeda is a very personable man. He was always available to help students in lab, which i thought was nice. His exams weren't too hard this semester... no guarantees though. Lecture can be confusing, but he gives out extremely helpful notes ahead of time. Much of your coursework and grading is up to your GSI! Just hope you get a good one.

Amazing Professor! This is my first rating I've given on this site,but I was so compelled because of the experience learning I've had in this class. It's true that the class is very very time consuming. But the amount of work you put in will definitely be the grade you'll earn at the end. He is very helpful,amazing Office Hours. Heed my advice: DO NOT fall behind. Read Intro to Spectroscopy before 1st lec: it's short and crystal clear, and you will have no problem with lab lectures (I wish someone had told me this). Take your html project seriously. Koreeda is very passionate; will answer any Q's you have, even at 3am by email. He even stole my heart from Dr. Nolta!

He has a very heavy accent, but after a couple weeks I got used to it. He's very nice and willing to answer questions. He came around to all the labs and got to know his students. VERY funny as well!

Koreeda is an unbelievable teacher. He's adorable, and it's insane how much he knows about chem. His exams test important concepts rather than minute details, unlike most Orgo classes, so they're fair. I took 215 last semester and dropped it b/c I was on the fast track to failing. First exam w/ Koreeda, I got 100%. He is a fantastic teacher.

I loved this class and would take it again in an instant. It's demanding and a lot of work, but it's all worth it. Koreeda is one of the best teachers if not the best that I've had so far here at UM. Keep up with the coursepack and use his packets as your Bible for the class and you'll do great!

One of the best teachers I have ever had. Extremely helpful, spends a great majority of his time meeting with students for one on one help and genuinely wants his students to do well. His notes are very helpful and exams are very fair. He is ADORABLE and cracks himself up. Can't say enough good things about him.

To say this class is hard, is an understatement. Koreeda makes it manageable, his notes are what saves you! Going to discussion or his office hours are VERY helpful. He'll tell you what to expect on the exam (especially the 18-25 point questions). It was difficult coming from Nolta to him, it just takes time to adjust.

Hard class, but he wants you to do well. He holds office hours pretty much every day and even is willing to meet with students on a 1-on-1 basis. Furthermore, he's taken the time to condense the textbook into very useful notes that serve as great study guides for the exams. A very rare and giving personality. This guy makes U of M look good.

Hard class and struggled in the beginning but after I talked to him he helped me one on one in my weak areas. I feel that the best way to get a good grade in his class is to do his tb problems and the coursepack!

He is honestly the sweetest and most accommodating professor I have ever encountered. He wants you to do well and will do anything in his power to keep his averages above all the other chem 215 teachers. Go to his office hours and review sessions, they will help greatly with exams.

I had high expectations for Prof. Koreeda, but ultimately I was disappointed. He generally goes out of his way to help students, but I found that often times he was very rude. Additionally, he does NOT assign grades fairly. Very tough class, would be better if he stuck to consistent and fair grading.

If you don't understand something he acts like there's something wrong with you. Only explains things in one way. half of my SLC group has a tutor. I loved orgo 1 and koreeda ruined orgo II for me.

Koreeda is one of my favorite professors so far. He gives out handouts of all his notes which are incredible. He basically tells you what is on the exam if you go to his review sessions. He holds expanded office hours and multiple review sessions right before an exam. He's also very funny. Can't go wrong with him.

Dr. Koreeda is very helpful and really cares about his students. He is more than willing to make one-on-one appointments with students and really cares if his students do well. He is not out to get anyone and holds several review sessions and extra office hours. He is very clear about what is on the exams and exactly which mechanisms to memorize

Koreeda's lecture notes are really helpful and help you understand the content. He has multiple office hours available for students to ask questions. However, he can be very MEAN in the way he talks to the students while trying to explain. It may potentially deter some students away.

I liked orgo 2 much better than orgo 1 and part of it was Koreeda. He's just a good prof. He is helpful and he holds review sessions before each exam (he gives out a lot of hints and even tells you which mechanisms to know). Great prof, great class. Too bad he's not teaching non-honors 215 anymore.

I took 215 last year and had to withdraw after I failed the first 2 exam. Took it with Koreeda and got an A. He's clear, writes fair exams, extremely accommodating, and genuinely cares about his students and that they're learning. One of the best professors I've had, and one of the biggest reasons I turned my grade around in chem.

Koreeda is the BEST professor I've ever had. His lectures are okay, hard to follow sometimes, but it's how much he cares, and how available he is in office hours. He is so willing to help, and he's so adorable. If you're not going to take advantage of his office hours, you're really missing out!

Koreeda is astounding! He is genuinely one of the nicest professors at UMICH and truly cares about his students. He holds office hours basically every day, extra review sessions, and writes very fair exams. He is amazing professor and an awesome human being as well. Take any class at all with him!

AMAZING professor! Makes things crystal clear and has TONS of office hours and he is very helpful. Does not try to trick you in exams. Hated Orgo I, but Koreeda made me love Orgo II.
