Real tight teacher. Worth taking!

Awesome teacher! The topics for his papers were fun, and he always made class interesting with funny examples and stories. Quizzes super easy w/ questions from short stories and vocabulary given in lecture. Final is a short essay. One of the best teachers

funny teacher and he was the most helpullest teacher i have ever had. The guy would help me go trough 2-3 drafts for each of the papers we wrote. all inall i recommed his class if u suck @ writing papers i got an A and i hate writing papers.

He is an awesome teacher, and is very willing to help. Not much homework, but you must put good effort into papers. Some of his lectures get really boring.

lectures everyday about interesting topics. you are required to write three essays, which he'll let you revise even if you got a a- on any of them. his grading is a bit hard because he has a lot of expectations for those who are aiming for an a. overall, an okay class.

he is very knowledgeable and is very willing to help anyone who asks. Very little homework, no need to buy the book b/c you can find all readings on the internet. Take advantage of revising your papers it help alot. Final is an incalss essay really easy. Only three papers throughout the year.

Mason is a great teacher, he fully explains what he's looking for in your essays and is extremely helpful. He's also very hot,funny he tells hilarious stories.

Mason was awesome!! i had class at 8 am this semester and i actually didnt mind waking up that early to go listen to (and stare at) mason. hes very clear on what he wants in essays and he told funny stories in his lectures... plus, hes totally cute!

Mason is so cool! Probabbly one of the best professors LOng Beach has. Extremely hilarious and always relates to his students. Three essays, which he lets your re-write for a better grade which is REALLY HELPFUL. hardly ever any homework. I really enjoyed this class.

Three essays during the semester, which are on easy topics. He was a very easy grader and allowed you to rewrite the essays for more points, if you wanted. He talked about more than just English, which made his class worth going to. He does take attendence everyday, so you have to go to class or he'll take points away. I'd recommend Mason.

He is a very good teacher, one of the best I have had!

He's so gorgeous, you're going to love him - and he's smart too. So willing to help you out after class and show you how to do things correctly. I enjoyed his office hours tremendously.

He's an awesome english teacher! I started out loathing this class but I ended up loving it so much! Honestly, I was sad when the summer session had ended. The topics for his essays are extraordinary and brilliant! I have never had an english teacher that made such a huge impact in me. All english teachers should learn from him !

He's class is alright. Just don't take him at 8am or you will fall sleep. He's a good teacher though. You have a few random homework assignments here and there along with 3 essays and 3 quizzes.

Professor Boyer is a great teacher; although, if your like me and find yourselve falling asleep when professors ramble on about things unrelated to the course, then stay clear. Easy class just do all the essay's; if you have trouble with his essay's, then you might need to take English 1E again. For our class many of the readings were found online

He is a nice teacher but loves to TALK...made me late for my other class all the time. Gives a Lot of B's and even admits it tough to get an A on papers given to him.

Mr. Boyer is the Shyt! He is a very good teacher, he really wants to help his students. He is very essy on his assignments. The essays that were requried for the coarse, he got really into detail on them, so it was easy to understand. Real laid back teacher, hes like only 30 so he's a pretty young teach. Awesome Teach you should get him!

Mason's a really nice, chill, down to earth, and understanding teacher. He's funny, tells lots of stories about his ex's. Work is minimal, 3 essays and a 3 short quizzes. He's pretty cute too. Take him if you can! You'll enjoy his class.

Mayson's super nice, very helpful. Not much work, just 3 essays and a couple short quizzes based on lecture and short readings. Tough grader on essays but you can re-write 2!!! Take this class, he's awesome!

Mason is freakin awesomeeee! he's the best professor ever. very fun and easy to talk to about ANYTHINGG. If needed, he will postpone duedates because he cares. he grades pretty tough on essays and doesn't give our A's much but you're allowed to revise to get that A. If he wins the lotto..free bbq!! =] take him. you won't regret it!

Mason has a good personality. He's funny and tells a lot of stories, but tends to repeat them, and they seem a little exaggerated. He barley gives out homework, assigns a few essays (which you're aloud to rewrite for a higher grade), and if needed, postpones assignments

He says he had ADD or something, but his quirks are cute. :D anyway, his class is very easy...do all the essays (which is only 3, you get to revise 'em!) read the articles he assigns (which are found online). do good on the quizzes (which are on the vocab he assigns) and you'll do fine. he rambles a lot though :]

great teacher! he often does talk a lot, and possibly a bit off topic, but EVENTUALLY gets to the point. interesting and very helpful. visit him during office hours for help on your essays and such, and you're pretty much good to go :] attendance is mandatory though.

Takes attendance every day. Lectures are kind of boring and repetitive. Sometimes tells interesting stories. A lot of short readings from the textbook. Three papers and three quizzes. He is a very nice man and cares a lot about his students. Don't take his political opinions personally! He really is great at taking the stress and anxiety out of writing essays. He really cares about you and likes you as long as you work hard and are a good student. He's funny and is the greatest english professor ever!

Attendance is part of your grade! But he does not mind if you are texting or if you are on your laptop as long as you don't disrupt the class. If your phone rings or makes a sound, you have to sing in class. There is no text book for his eng 100 class. He grades kind of hard on the essays. It is hard to get an A on the essays. He talks a lottttt!

Talks way too much. His lessons/ stories are interesting and comprehensive but sometime he's redundant himself, or he sometime overdo his explaining where it becomes less interesting. He's really nice, for the most part.oh, and he's always sippin' something from his catine, like every 5 minute. Book is worth buying.

Boyer is such a great professor. He does talk alot, but if you actually pay attn you will definitely become a better writer. His class is truly a college class. I feel ive taken something from his class. Easy quizzes,easy readings,no textbook!! I do recommend buying 1984 (he has it online) and reading it early. He is EXTREMELY helpful. Take him!!

My first class with this teacher was awesome. We fought off a zombie horde together. Hes pretty accurate with a M249 light machine gun while i was dual wielding Desert Eagles.

Kinda easy class, definately wants essays written the way he likes (he does give you an option of topics though). No required text book, attendance is mandatory, there are some quizzes, only 3 essays.

Cool professor and interesting at times. He goes off topic sometimes and only goes over more details of what you know. NO textbooks (AWESOME) and the only book he makes you read is 1984. 3 Essays fairly simple. He does make attendance mandatory. Lastly, whenever you need the help, hes always available during office hours and his help is useful.

Best english teacher ever, TAKE HIM BEFORE HE LEAVES. Very insightful and intelligent teacher and will share his ideas with you that will make you think. He does read and grade your paper according to his standard, but they are fair judgements. So you actually have to produce A quality essays for an A. 3 Essays and he lets you rewrite them & final

Gets off topic frequently. Wastes the majority of class time on stories that have only a tenuous connection to the material he is trying to teach. Genuinely cares about his students. Difficult not to pass, getting a B is easy, gotta work for an A. Great teacher overall.

Very interesting professor. He tells you EXACTLY how he wants essays written so if you go to class and listen, you should be ok. Plus he's super helpful so you should definitely go to office hrs if you need to.

He is nice and likes to talk about his own experiences, which are funny. He cares about english very much. However, he is a very hard grader on essays. He says so on the first day. I felt like this class was pointless. If you're a good writer, take this class. If not I suggest take another teacher.

THE BEST English teacher I have ever had in my life. Literally everything he has taught about writing essays have continued on with me throughout my semesters here at school. I am so much better at writing now because of him and he made everything easier than it looks!

Super helpful and respectful! Definitely go to his office hours for help on the essays because he'll show you exactly what he's looking for. He keeps lectures interesting with some funny jokes. Do the readings and you'll easily pass the quizzes. Don't need to buy a textbook either.

Professor Boyer was the best teacher i have ever had for english. He truly cares about students and their understanding of writing concepts. He is hilarious during his lectures and uses a lot of references from his life. I usually hate lectures but he makes them truly interesting.

Professor Boyer is a really good english teacher. It is basically an easy A if you write well on the three essay topics he gives you. He lectures on what needs to be in the essay, but the essay topics aren't as hard. Even if you receive a bad grade, he gives you a chance to revise it with a lot of feedback. definitely recommend this class

Professor Boyer is a great professor. His class is mainly writing and it is not that difficult. He is clear of what he wants. Also, he is a fair grader. If you are not good at writing and you show that you are trying, you will get at least a B in the class. Take his class.

He is a great professor. Sometimes gets off topic on lectures and doesn't stop lecturing but it is good talk. He admires what he do. Tough grader I gotta say, but you actually learn something in his class. He directs you to write better, and very helpful. No textbook required. Only 3 essays done slowly step by step, I recall they were about 5 pages

Professor Boyer is an AMAZING teacher. All his lectures and readings will help you on the essays. As long as u do the readings you will pass the quizzes. He puts up sample essays to show u how he wants the essays which are fairly simple because he has good topics. He makes everything clear. He is there to help you and wants you to pass. TAKE HIM!

He's super clear about what he expects in his essays, which makes him great. He tends to ramble a lot on his lectures but if you listen to the ramble you get a lot of good tips on writing. He's also very helpful during his office hours, I highly recommend taking this class to fulfill your GE requirement. 3 essays and 1 in class essay as the final.

My favorite professor so far! He expects you to show up to class each time but his grading is only made by 3 essays about clear topics. He gives you a lot of time to prepare and each class will help you write your essays. The readings for class are all free and all on his website none more than a few pages long. TAKE THIS CLASS.

FAVORITE PROFESSOR. He cares for his students and helps a lot if you contact him out of class. He takes roll so going to class is mandatory. Class can be boring at times but you can learn a lot from his lectures if you pay attention. He will give you feedback on your rough drafts if you turn it in early (I highly recommend doing this)

Prof. Boyer was amazing, funny, and caring! Textbooks not required since readings are online. Although he cancelled class a few times due to illness, he gave very good feedback on essays and allowed enough time to finish them. Easy A if you tried and attend class. Although you do have to work for an A, as long as you put the effort in and ask him questions, you should be fine. Professor Boyer is a great professor! I talk to him outside of class and enjoys when students talk to him. He is a very realistic teacher and understands how we students/young adults understand. I really like this class!! Professor Boyer is really nice and understanding. His lectures could be a little boring at times but other than that the class is easy. We had 2 big essays, a couple of quizzes and an in-class essay for the final. As long as you apply yourself you can easily get an A.

He was honestly the best teacher I've ever taken. He wants you to pass and will help you in anyway possible. Very funny person and though grader. He prefers quality over quantity and has you write about 3 papers in the semester and gives you opportunities to make them better for a better grade. Boyer was an amazing prof. I had him fall 2017 and I do not regret it. You have about 5 in class quizzes on the readings(super easy) and 3 papers (again super easy) as long as you show up you'll be fine! you dont even need to pay attention in class!

Prof. Boyer lectures a lot on developing your essay skills in class, as you'll use them in 3 essays. He's the BEST professor to ask for advice and feedback in your essays. He gives out a couple of quizzes, which involves vocab, readings, and lectures taught in class. He cancels classes and if you're lucky, he can also cancel the midterm. Easy A!

Professor Boyer is honestly the best Eng 100, take him ! Out of all the other csulb English 100 professor hes the nicest and makes it very easy to pass. Three essays, two if he cancels classes a lot, and quizzes hes really cool and funny take him!

TAKE HIM FOR ENG100 ! His class was easier than any English class I've ever taken in high school. You write 3 essays (however my class only wrote 2 because of cancelled classes), have 3 quizzes based off of article readings and vocabulary, and very minor homework assignments. Very clear grading rubric! He's hilarious and very approachable.

Mason Boyer is a good professor, but he is also very tough. You will need to match his Essay rubrics to the fullest in order to achieve an A on your papers. Obtaining A's in this class is extremely difficult, you will need to put in a lot of extra hard work to acquire that. Boyer also allows for revising your Essay papers, so you can improve upon.

He knows most of the students take his class to get it out of the way for the GE requirement, so it's not difficult. There are 3 main essays, like 4 quizzes, a midterm and a final in class essay. He lets you redo essays if you don't like your grade and the quizzes are mostly on his lectures, so take notes! Overall easy class, he's a cool dude :)

Such an overall nice, genuine professor. He does tend to talk a lot and tell a bunch of stories, however I found myself interested in his stories. His class consisted of a couple quizzes and essays that were do-able. No books are needed! He posts all the materials on his website. Highly recommend him!

He is very nice and tries to be funny to keep the energy up during class. He doesn't require a text book. Gives extra credit opportunities. As long as you show up and actually put effort regardless of your ability you can pass with a decent grade.

Great teacher. Few assignments, but will thoroughly read them and give good feedback. Quizzes are easy if you attended classes and did all assigned readings, includes extra credit.

The essays may seem daunting at first, I had two (Fall 2019) due to how many times class was cancelled due to him being sick. There are quizzes, but all you have to do is read his reading and study his given vocab. Go to him in his office hours or email him about your essays if you are worried. He will literally fix the big and medium parts for you

If you have a chance to take Prof. Boyer, take him! The two time, soon to be three zoom teaching champion and the Master of MS paint will always deliver a good English class. I took his morning class and it honestly wasn't bad because of Prof. Boyer. He only gives 3 essays the entire semester and is always available at office hours.

Professor Boyer was such a great professor! He really cares about his students and makes jokes so that the environment is more comfortable. His assignments and quizzes are not hard at all as long as you spend a decent amount of time to prepare for them. Also, don't be afraid to communicate with him if you have questions or run into any problems!

The class consists of three quizzes, three essays, a midterm, and a final paper. He is a hilarious professor but is serious when it comes to teaching the material. His class is very welcoming, safe, and informative. He really teaches you how to write a good essay if you pay attention and take notes. Excellent English professor!

He really improved my writing by the feedback given on my essays. Essays as long as they were turned in on time can be revised until you get your desired grade. His lectures were fun and he really cares about making you a better writer. I highly recommend him.

This is a fun class. You have to be passionate about what you write about though, and go to all the lectures to get a good grade. But other than that Prof Boyer is a great lecturer and one of the best teachers I have ever had!

Coolest English professor ever. He's super chill, laid back, and honestly understands students to the fullest so he's very respected. We only had 2 essays since he missed a class period so he didn't want us to feel rushed for the last one. Essay topic 1 is chosen by you and second is given. Gives plenty of time for these essays so don't feel rushed

Super easy English prof. His online lectures are setup like a twitch stream so it was pretty fun and wasn't boring at all. Only gave two essays this semester (Spring) otherwise it would've been three. Not too tough of a grader and he gives plenty of time for each essay, also allows revisions for essays if needed/you aren't happy with your grade.

Professor Boyer was a fantastic professor, he cares about his student's well-being and understands our perspective in English and writing essays. He is a little lecturer heavy, however, his lessons are in-depth, engaging, and funny as well. For my semester class, we only wrote 3 essays, including the timed final, and had 3 straightforward quizzes.

Professor Boyer was an awesome teacher, we only wrote three essays which includes the final writing. He was a very laid back teacher and kept his lectures entertaining. Never in my years of school did I have an English who gave me great feedback that actually helped me improve my writing. Definitely the best English teacher I have ever had.

He's a really chill professor, but he did often ramble and go on tangents. We only wrote 3 essays (final was a timed essay), which we were given plenty of time on. There's very few quizzes (I remember only doing 2) that were based on readings. He kept track of attendance but was kind of relaxed about it.

Super nice Prof, but can go off topic a lot during class. I didn't really feel like his lectures/notes were very helpful but he can give a lot of good advice, tips, and resources for writing. We had two essays and a final written essay that was timed. Read the articles and pay attention to the things he does lecture about for quizzes.

Class was mainly Prof telling stories that gave meaning and reason to why he wanted to teach us the topic at hand. Nothing that you do or learn won't have a good reason for. His page requirements are shorter than other profs (3-5pgs) because he actually reads each one in depth and gives feedback. He cares for our education. Fun sarcastic humor.

He doesn't teach much and there's no textbook so you can't learn much yourself, which is perfect if you are just taking the class as a graduation requirement but if you are an English major, or plan to take more advanced english classes, you might want to consider taking someone else to learn more.

This professor is extremely funny and understanding. The workload wasn't heavy at all, and every class period cracked me up. You're lucky if you have him as a teacher.

If you can take hime. He's very easy going and very funny. There's no books or textbook you have to purchase which is nice. Class wasn't mandatory, but you should go. His lectures basically helps you for your essays. He tells you exactly what he wants on them and helps you as well. Told many stories and was fun. He doesn't give much work either.

Professor Boyer's class is a fun and easy ride. Though his lectures can be a bit rambling at times, he's super helpful with essay guidance. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for quiz prep. Attendance is a must, but no textbook required - just show up and turn in the work.

The best professor ive had at LB so far! Had 2 papers both super easy if you understand the prompt and gives amazing feedback on your ideas for your paper and the paper itself. I stopped showing up basically the last 8 weeks of the semester and accidentally missed our final but still passed the class. Really cares about you and your success!

Very nice and funny professor, enjoy going to his class. Wants his students to succeed. Will pass the class if you do all assignments on time. Gives you opportunities for extra credit on both quizzes and essays. Walks you through the essays, and gives you plenty of time to complete assignments.

This professor was very fun and interactive although it was an online class he always made it fun. Very clear about what he wants in essays and assignments which makes it easy. Gives good feedback and is accessible. You can tell he cares about his students and he isn't a harsh grader.

This class is great if you need to complete a GE. He's very laid back and gives great feedback on outlines and rough drafts, so you're made aware about what he is looking for on your paper. We only did two papers (originally supposed to do 3 but were behind in time) and a few quizzes plus a final. Just try your best!

Even though the class is online he's still able to make the lectures engaging and fun to pay attention to. He often uses stories to get his lesson across and isn't afraid to get a little sidetracked if it means keeping the class's attention.
