Masoud is a very understanding instructor, but that doesn't mean it is an easy A class. His lectures are very long from 6:00 - 10:15 PM and exams are sort of challenging! He also offers lots of extra credit points.
He gives extra credit and assign lots of group activities, but exams are tough. He said he will replace the lowest test score with the final score (if higher) but it was impossible to get a decent score on the final. This is an introductory course after all.
If you attend the class daily it would be easy to pass the class with a good grade. A great professor. Would recommend him for anyone.
I earned what I got which was a B. Amazing professor, he tries his best for his students to understand the subject and pass the class. One of my best teachers in a long time. Recommend him to anyone that wants to take a class and learn new stuff.
Amazing professor! Makes sure you understands the subject and always sets you up for success. Provides extra credit for those struggling in the class. Definitely one of the best professors I've ever had.
He is awesome. Very caring and nice professor. Exam was not that hard. He gave many extra credits.
he is an amazing professor, he really care about his student, gives a lot of extra credit and welling to answer any question at any time. I really enjoyed his class and highly recommend him, and cant wait to take him again next semester..
Will make you work for your grade and make you into a true chemist. Pushes you to learn. Rewards you for hard work. Will stay behind to explain material nicely. Vague to whats in test, hard tests. My class of 30ppl 10A's. Will give u A if you earn it. He lovers chemistry & will participate with u in lab.
Professor Roueintan is insanely hot. Hands-down the most attractive professor I've ever had in college. With that being said, make sure you prepare extremely well for his tests and quizzes for it's not easy. Read the book, do the practice problems, review both your notes and his lecture powerpoint.
Masoud was one of the most caring instructors Ive ever had at MtSac. He really cares if his students pass, and it's clear he does whatever he can to make that happen. He offers extra credit, and drops the lowest lab and quiz score. Lectures can be really long, and he can be a little confusing sometimes, but ask questions and he will gladly clarify
He is such an understanding teacher. You must go to class to pass. Very helpful in lab and gives good lectures and will help if you ask. i took him fall 2014 straight out of HS and im glad i did because he made chem EZ. the hw is easy points if you just try to do them. I thought he was hilarious and was honestly my best and favorite teacher so far
This professor has my highest recommendation because you leave his class with a comfortable knowledge of Chemistry. He applies chem to life concepts--health field, personal stories, Breaking Bad, etc. He is willing to repeat difficult or confusing topics repeatedly until you understand. Tests are hard, but I got an A for studying. He's also funny.
Very helpful professor, he will take the time to help you understand the content. The class is not easy as it requires the memorization for equations, but you will pass if you study. Also, he's smoking hot. Eye candy in class. 3
Chem40- took during 6 week summer session. Very personablehelpful professor, really wants students to do well. Offers a lot of extra credit (up to 30pts3% of total grade) for going to the tutoring center. Will replace lowest midterm grade w grade on final, if higher. With that being said, you REALLY NEED to study to get an A.
Professor Masoud was a Great teacher. He is there to help you understand anything you don't get and will go over it and give examples. He is funny at times but he can be a little tough if students complain. He gave us alot of extra credit opportunities. He really cares if you don't get the material he helps. And hes HOT! He never leaves early lol
Makes chemistry fun and enjoyable. One paper during middle of semester, but really easy, he gives feedback on your rough draft which helps. Overall very helpful and great teacher!
He is a helpful professor, but get ready to study and don't miss class. He made chemistry super fun!
He is very clear on his materials and teaches them very well. It is easy to understand him I really like this professor. He is also nice and funny so students enjoy being in his class as well as asking him questions.
Masoud is awesome! He knows exactly what he's doing and is knowledgeable of the subject. He explains things clearly in order for us to understand. He also shows interest in getting to know us. He liked talking to his students and in my opinion he made us more comfortable in asking questions.
This class gave me stress -.- He's a really nice guy, but the class was difficult. Study his practice tests and be prepared to work!
Masoud's lectures were pretty engaging, with activities for the class and jokes here and there to keep things from getting dull. He provided lecture handouts, problem sets, lecture notes in advance and even posted them online. I had to drop, but I liked his teaching style and attitude toward students. Be ready to study hard!
I took Masoud for Gen Chem and didn't expect it to be so fun! He was very clear and answered questions we had. He's very knowledgable. Has a great sense of humor. Cares about his students. Makes an effort to get to know you. Very reasonable and likes to push his students to work hard and get an A. Start a good study group and study everyday!
Masoud is a knowledgeable, well-organized, inspirational and caring Chem professor. Posted everything on moodlerooms including his own in class notes which was very helpful. Ask him for transfer advice and will give you valuable advice. Although he is a very good professor, his exams are extremely difficult. Get ready to study and Do Not miss class
He is a great instructor. He was very good and helped us a lot to increase our grade, but you still gotta work for it. He makes his class interactive and fun for the most part.
I love this professor! He's such a funny and down-to-earth guy. My class and I would be able to talk him into being more lenient. However, his tests are hard! Don't get fooled by the questions!! He's a troll, but I love this dude.
Masoud is a young professor who will only improve as an instructor the longer he teaches. He has high expectations and the exams will be challenging if you don't spend enough time revising. He grades labs more graciously to compensate for the difficult exams. The textbook for the course is very helpful. He's a cool guy. Highly recommended.
Professor Masoud is absolutely amazing. He truly cares about all of his students and his lectures are highly engaging. He is always available for his students, before class, after class, and office hours. He always went out of his way to ensure that we all understood the material. The exams are rough, but totally doable. Definitely take him!
Awesome Professor. For exams, do his practice test. *Hint, hint* They're very similar. Always go to his office hours if you don't understand the lesson. Do the homework online early so you don't struggle. Tip: Read and do the practice problems on the book then do the homework. Overall he tries to help you pass in every way.
Professor Masoud is the absolute best. Lecture and notes are clear and straightforward His online site makes it easy to access class notes, practice exams, quiz keys and grades DO PRACTICE EXAMS!! Never hesitate to ask a question he is always willing to help. He makes Chem enjoyable and interesting, labs were always fun!Take him you won't regret it
Professor Roueintan is one of the best professors I have ever had. He genuinely cares for his students and wants them to do well. He cuts right to the chase and makes his lectures very straight forward. He moves at a fast pace but the class is completely doable if you show up to class and put the effort in. Did I mention he's super good looking?
great professor everything that he teaches in class is what he will test you on
Currently taking Masoud for summer and he's really great. It's intense due to the subject and given that it's summer but he's very helpful. Highly recommend and DO THE PRACTICE EXAMS. Handsome guy too and very professional when teaching.
Took chem 10 for summer. A really great teacher. His lectures Are straight to the point with good examples. I highly recommend professor Masoud to anyone who needs to take chem. *two thumbs up*
Professor Masoud is great. Very helpful when you dont understand something. Tests are tough but doable. He provides practice exams that are very similar to the actual exams. Chemistry is hard in general, but if you do your part youll do good. Highly recommend!!!
Great Professor! Explains in ways that are understandable. Wants students to really learn and walks you through each step so you fully get it! Best class I've take at Mt Sac! I would have added Would take it again-Respected-Accessible outside class-Caring-Participation Matters-Funny Guy!
He really cares about his students. He understands his students. He wants his students to succeed. He is punctual, and accessible. He is a serious person, but funny and friendly. He gives you all the tools needed to succeed in his class, but it is up to the student to put in the work. It was a pleasure. He is doing a great job as a professor.
Professor Masoud is an awesome professor! I took him during the winter 2018 semester and to my surprise it was a class I really enjoyed. He makes lectures easy to understand and is always helpful! Use his practice tests as study notes for his tests, you won't regret taking his class!!
Ez would take again but i wont have to :D Has clear grading criteria, just show up and listen, really easy to understand, and gives alot of help to prep for exams. Mastering chem was used for hw ( was due before each exam) and can make up at the end of the semester.
He cares to prepare students to understand the material. He is ALWAYS willing to help. He will repeat himself 10x and not get annoyed. He is the perfect professor who is there to do his best for his students. He creates a positive environment in class, and will share his personal tricks to memorizing and recognizing things to help you understand.
Masoud is by far the GREATEST human i have ever met! I dont think i have ever had a professor that cares for his students success as much as he does. it is a tough class, but you will NOT regret taking it! i took it for 6 weeks and got a B! i honestly can not fit everything id like to here.. in general HE ROCKS! GREAT PROFESSOR hands down!
Professor Masound is a knowledgeable young man who is very passionate about Chemistry. He is by far the most caring professor Ive ever had at Mt. Sac who helps students to be successful in the class and also truly cares about their futures. His class is not easy, but an A is doable. Read the material before coming to class, and study hard!
A genuinely caring professor with a good understanding of the subject. He made the class fun by giving us a lab that other classes didn't cover. The homework is straight from textbook so no masteringchem. The exams are pretty tough and require you to master the concepts and work through the examples again and again to get the hang of.
Masoud is a really great professor that I met since I came to this country. His lecturing is suitable for those who honestly pursue his career goal. You will find power and inspiration during his lecturing. Dont just give up when you think you cant make it. He will give you the hope and you will see the miracles happen on you again and again.
Really Great professor, very clear about what he expects. In order to do good, you need to go to class, do the assignments, do the practice exams, and you will be fine. Offers extra credit, is very understanding and doesnt make you feel stupid for asking dumb questions. It's a 5 unit class so expect to work for it.
His lectures are very clear and he teaches well. However, his tests are extremely difficult. Extra credit is counted as 2% and can help. Also, if he says he will do something for the class get it in writing so that he does not go back on it. Overall, he is very caring and gives great advice about transferring. Be ready to work hard.
Professor Masoud was a great professor! He allows a notecard for each test, he drops the lowest 2 quizzes, & lowest homework score & your final can replace your lowest test score! The second test is the hardest, but other than that all other tests were clear & the final was exactly the final study guide he gave us.
Masoud really cares about his students and works with you. He wants to see you improve and get better. The tests are hard but doable if you study hard. I would definitely take him for future classes.
He is a wonderful professor. He really wants every student to get a great grade and gives everyone chance to get an A. There is not really need the book, he printed the handout.
Masoud is a very compassionate professor. He definitely works with the class to make everything fair. His exams are difficult so make sure you understand the concepts fully. He genuinely wants his students to pass so don't be afraid to voice any concerns you have. Overall I highly recommend him as a professor.
Ok no doubt, the class was hard. The workload wasn't too bad, but his exams were really difficult because the questions were presented differently than taught in class/hw. HOWEVER, he was a great teacher and I didn't realize that until the end- I learned a lot from his class and he prepares you very well for 51. Just be prepared to put in work!
First time taking a chemistry class and I couldn't ask for a better Professor. Young teacher who knows his stuff, but makes new material easy to understand. Attendance not taken. ADVICE for an A: Be an active listener in his lectures, he provides old test questions that were often on tests. Online HW was not always relevant, but it's doable.
Nice Professor but I dont recommend taking this class during a 6 week semester. Its do-able but you will have a difficult time. We did 3 chapters a week during winter (1 chapter a day) and 1 quiz a day from the previous day chapter. His quiz/exam ?s were very difficult. Study the previous midterm exams on canvas, 1/2 of the ?s are on his midterms.
Professor Roueintan made chem enjoyable for me. I took him for winter intercession, therefore it was lecture heavy so NEVER miss class. Exams are a mix of old questions from past midterms and new ones. He cares so much for his students, gives extra credit, & is always there to help. Come determined and focused. Take time to study and ask questions!
Hes an amazing chem prof., very understanding and knowledgeable but will make you work for your grade. So this is not an easy A. Make sure to review the posted old exams and take it very seriously when he says, Ill put this on the midterm. Hes kind of sarcastic at times but respectful. His lectures are crystal clear. Highly recommended!
Masoud is by far the most amazing Chem teacher. He really goes out of his way to prepare you for the subject and is really funny. The class was hard, but with the notes he prepares for his students and the way he shows you how to work out problems, you will be fine. Masoud's tests cover everything in the lectures, and the quizzes are added to help.
Just pay attention in class and its an easy A. He's very detailed and makes the concepts easy to understand. Dude will get out of his way to help you with anything you don't get. The real chem god.
Really good professor! He truly cares for his students and shows that he wants the best for them. He checks in with the class to make sure everyone is understanding the material being covered. Hes an honest guy and is actually pretty funny too! The class is not an easy A but pay attention, review your notes and ask questions youll be just fine!
Amazing professor really enjoyed his teaching. The class can be hard but the professor does a great job at explaining everything. Hes also willing to answer any questions you have. Hes also very funny and cracks a lot of jokes which makes the class more enjoyable.
I have never taken a chemistry class before and this was not at all easy for me but Masoud is an amazing professor. The tests were hard but I was still able to pass with a B. If a student is worried about their grade he does offer extra credit and go to office hours!! The class was a lot of hard work but well worth it!
This professor is so kind and really wants all his students to pass. His class is enjoyable and that says a lot because I do not enjoy chemistry. He always tried to make his classes fun and engaged with all his students. As long as you pay attention in class you'll pass.
Professor Masoud is a great professor, he is definitely challenging but is super helpful. He is always available for questions and will always clarify anything for you if needed. His lectures are fun and lab as well. Dont underestimate this class, its pretty challenging, brush up on your math skills.
Professor is great. Be ready for lots of work. A lot of hw but this helps you in the end. Gives extra credit opportunities, dont skip class. Going to tutoring helps a great deal. Attendance highly recommended.
Funny professor. Enjoys his craft and makes the class bearable. Chem is not easy in general but he tries hard to simplify it for everyone. Allows extra study time before exams. His homework is heavy so be sure to start ahead of time. Study his sample midterms. Review your notes.
I took Prof. Masoud for CHEM 50. He is very strict but funny (dry humor type) straight forward and crystal clear on expectations. Exams are the toughest (1 open book). Be ready to study hard but it'll pay off at the end when you take the ACS exam. Btw, he became more generous at the end of the semester and boosted our grades. Highly recommend
Prof. R is an amazing professor. If you want to learn Chem & gain complete comprehension of the course, take him! There will be lots of homework, the tests will be difficult if you dont study, but all in all this class is more than do-able. Show up, review all information he provides on Canvas, & get tutoring needed be for the hard stuff. :) Great
Took him in the winter, you would think he was condense the lessons. He did not, very fast pace and when asking him him questions would make me feel dumb about asking him. He is a funny professor and is good teacher but take him in the fall or spring
Make sure to do the Practice exams before the actual exam day, including the correct answers and how to solve each problems because some questions in the tests came from the practice exams.
Prof. Roueintan class is quite interesting he does give handouts of the notes and provides additional practice problems be prepared to study hard if you procrastinate a lot this class is not for you the grade you get is the grade you worked for The lectures are very detailed and does answer your questions he is one of my favorite professors no cap
Professor Masoud cares for his students and he wants everyone to pass. Hes actually pretty funny and hes sarcastic. He gives a lot of extra credit so take opportunity of this because it all adds up at the end.
Professor Masoud, The whole concept of Chemistry was tough for me however if you put it in the work you will pass the class especially if you attend the labs and do group activities you will pass the class. Make sure you do all the homework and extra credit. By far this is the toughest class Ive taken but its worth it when you pass the class.
Although the material was difficult, professor Masoud very helpful and always took the time to go out of his way for his students. He is very kind, funny and caring. And offers plenty of exrra credit! I will definitely take him again.
In this class you will expect to work hard for your grade an make sure you put time aside to go over your notes which is very important. Make sure you review all your practice exams that are online which are useful as a study guide .
Professor Masoud is a good professor and I definitely recommend taking his class. Although it wasnt an easy class, as long as you do the work and set time aside to study you will pass!
He does give extra credit, which helps your grade a lot. Hes very straight forward and explains everything well. Overall, hes a good professor.
Prof. Masoud is a great teacher and he cares for his students. He constantly checks up on the class to make sure theyre doing okay. He does assign a fair amount of online homework. He provides you with sample midterms which are extremely helpful. You definitely need to dedicate time to this class. He offers extra credit!!
Although there is a lot of work, he is flexible with extra credit. Professor is always looking for ways to help students better understand the material.
This was the first Chemistry class I have ever taken. Professor Masoud exceeded my expectations. He is more than fair when it comes to grading. Be ready for quizzes, lots of homework, and group activities. You definitely have to show up to lectures and labs. Maximize as many points as you can and study the practice midterms. There are no surprises.
The professor is great! Was very flexible due to COVID-19 and help us every step of the way!
Professor Masoud was worth taking. He did a good job switching to online due to the whole COVID-19. Im sure it wouldve been 10x better if I continued taking his class in person. Exams are decent and quizzes as well. I recommend studying! He does provide extra credit and he never hesitates helping out his students. Definitely recommend taking him.
Even with the whole Covid 19 pandemic Professor Roueintan did a great job and was able to keep the class engaged through out the rest of the online semester. Definitely would recommend this professor to any student.
This class itself is difficult and with the quarantine making our classes being moved to online meetings it was still rather ok to understand and stay on task with everything. Professor was very helpful and made things easier to comprehend.
I highly recommend taking Chem10 with Professor Roueintan. He was very clear on grades and flexible with students. Lots of homework was assigned; however, I found that they really prepared me for the exams. Despite the sudden transition to online classes due to COVID-19, I felt that taking this class with him was an overall pleasant experience.
Highly highly recommend professor Masoud if you're in search for a chemistry professor. Lots of homework so just make sure to manage your time wisely. Even with the whole COVID-19, transitioning online, he made the course run very smoothly and made my experience great!
Professor was okay but I think it was because of the online class. It was more self learn than anything. Very nice person but I wouldnt recommend online chemistry but he was good in campus before the COVID-19 happen.
Awesome class!!! Due to the pandemic of Covid-19 it was kinda difficult. However, the professor worked with us and made the work easier. Theirs a lot of homework but it helps later on for the exams and quizzes. Just try to finish with your work and don't stay behind.
He is the best
Professor Masoud is by far one of the most amazing professors I have ever had. He genuinely cares about his students and will do all he can to help you succeed in his class. You definitely have to work for the grade that you earn, but he does provide extra credit that helps. Make sure to do all the home work. I Recommend taking his class!
Masoud is a smart and young professor. Like everybody, when he is in a good mode it reflects in how the class is presented. When he is not (sometimes) his way of answer seems slightly sarcastic which is sad. No doubt, He is going to be one the best professors because his passion for chemistry, I know he can do it, know you too!
Professor Masoud is a solid Chem professor. Despite our class switching suddenly to online due to COVID-19. He tried his best to accommodate his students through email and zoom meetings. Prior to COVID, I was really enjoying the in-class lecture. It was unfortunate we had to switch online, but worth taking!
With the covid situation Masoud was still very understanding and made this class bearable! You just had to put in the work!
At first, he provided us with sufficient materials that helped us excel in the first midterm. After transitioning to online learning, I felt that there was a lack of support and I had to resort to self-teaching in order to maintain an A. I gave him a good rating nonetheless because he is aware of this, and he gave us chances to boost our grades.
Professor Roueintan, is a good teacher for subject, that is not a walk in the park. If you are struggling, he is willing to work with you and help you out. Gives plenty of time for homework and multiple attempts at quizzes.
Overall an outstanding teacher very flexible! This was my second time taking the course but with another professor. Due to Covid-19 the class switched completely to online it caused everyone difficulties with the hard transition and somewhat self teaching. However, exams are moderate, homework is doable, labs are a iffy, and quizzes are fair.
He is a really great professor ! Although it was a bit difficult online he was willing to help and give you options to pass the class.
Given the circumstances we had to go online and although hard at first he gave us easy instructions on homework which was online and quizzes on canvas. Exams were hard so read your stuff.
Professor Masoud is very knowledgeable. Though the concepts are hard, he offers an abundance of help & offers thorough explanations to help bring clarity & mastery. There is a lot of homework, but it is necessary to practice the concepts in order to be prepared for the exams. He has office hours & answers emailed questions. Kind & Interesting!!
He is such a great Professor! He is also very helpful and gives you time to finish the work that is assigned. Due to covid it was online but he made the work bearable and was still helpful.
because of COVID19, the course was changed to online. Professor offered a lot of suggestions and opinions for us, and also reformulated the grading standards that are more conductive to improving our grades. he also provided many relevant video materials and answered our questions very patiently and timely. Do not hesitate to pick him up!
Professor Masoud is an excellent professor to take! Despite the whole situation with the pandemic, he still managed to be flexible with all the classes. As long as you don't procrastinate with all the homework and study, you'll be fine!
From being in class to transitioning online wasnt so bad! Professor Masoud was very helpful and everything went smoothly and very organized. Best professor even from the couple classes I had in person.
great professor who really cares about your grades and well being. took this class online during pandemic and he really showed us that we were win this together. Do your work and study and ask questions, then, you should be able to pass. im an in class person, so we'll see how i did. Thanks for being awesome professor
Definitely makes you work for your grade as should all professors should, CHEM10 was definitely a fun and active course highly recommend it.
He really made the transition to online class as seamless as possible. A great professor to have during COVID!!!
Amazing professor. Professor Masoud is very clear on his grading and gives opportunities for extra credit. Go to tutoring. Take his class you wont regret it.
I took this class online it was a lot of work but he cares about his students and wants you to pass but he does make you work for it. Hes a great professor and makes chem fun. I would take his class again.
Definitely a great teacher highly recommend
Took this course because a friend recommended him and it was worth it.
This (online) class is mostly self-study. If you're not into that, don't take this class. You definitely need to be on top of your game to excell in this class. Form study groups. Go to tutoring. Work with one another. This class is difficult, but Professor Roueintan really wants his students do well and gives many opportunities for you to do so.
In the beginning for labs he is concerned about our understanding and always available to be of assistance and takes pride in his instruction. At the rise of this Pandemic he was still there for us as we needed help and seamlessly transitioned through the semester. Professor R is from my experience the best they have. You'll be lucky to have him
We started out this semester before the pandemic and I can tell you even then, before all this happened, he was a very good professor. He made sure we understood the material before he moved on and spent time with those who had questions to help them understand. Great professor!
Great professor. Just this spring 2020 because of the pandemic, it was very difficult switching over making the class basically self taught. Overall tho he is a great professor that helped us out during this time.
He provides Youtube videos for lectures but he isn't the one lecturing. He also doesn't provide powerpoint lectures. Ive taken many online courses and instructors always provide powerpoint lectures for all the lectures. It's difficult learning from a youtube video when he is the one making the exam. Nice but needs improvement in online format.
One of the best professors Ive ever had! Hes very supportive and love to encourage students to keep going especially during these times. He uses his colleagues videos for lectures (which are reallyyyy helpful!) I just wish he can make his own videos with his own teaching style because I think he would be really good (based on our zoom meetings).
He is very approachable and open to questions, in fact, he encourages it. Since the class is online, the Zoom meetings are mostly for questions and clarifications. Whenever he explains a problem or topic, he explains it clearly and very detailed. He also says to send him an email whenever we need help which is nice from an online class professor.
This is my first time taking an online course due to the current circumstances and professor Roueintan has exceeded my expectations. I took his course over the summer. And Professor has been very understanding/accommodating to students. He truly wants to see his students pass.
Professor Masoud is an excellent professor. He cares about the students and provides a lot of opportunities to improve your grades. Be aware if you take this class in Summer or wintertime, it is a hard class so be ready to work a lot.
Professor Masoud is amazing! He cares about his students. He is understanding and very encouraging. He wants all his students to excel. I took this class during the summer which is work overload but with organization is very do able. Offers EC opportunities. He didnt lecture, zoom meetings where for clarification of material. Overall he is great!
Great Professor! He is very understanding to any situation and reply to email ASAP. Always advice students to work harder so they can pass the class!
He is so disorganized, unreliable, and spends more time trying to catch people cheating than he does teaching. He set us up to fail our finals by not providing a periodic table & formula sheet. Exams are very hard (D average) & no one finishes them in time. Does not curve exams. 1 student got an A in the class (90%) & most failed. Worst prof ever.
He is awesome. Took this course during a pandemic and he was very understanding, always helpful and available. One of the best professors.
I took this class in the fall of 2020 if you need to get a good grade you just have to do all the assignments and study will he offers extra credit if you email him he responded ASAP. And you can pass this course easily.
Professor Roueintan is an awesome professor! This class easy to pass of you do the work. He really wants his student to do well. He organizes study groups and offers an extra credit assignment. His announcements are very encouraging as well!
At first I was nervous because as the course started I figured out he didnt teach his own lectures! However he provided a videos for you to watch. They actually helped me through the class. He does give extra credit which could help round up your grade like it did mine! You need to put in work , do your homework, labs and discussion!
This Professor is AMAZING! I took this class during the Winter Semester 2021 and this class goes by pretty fast so make sure you are ready for it. At first I was really nervous but once you open up and make friends it will be fine. So make sure you connect with students in the class fast. Overall a great Professor with a kind heart! :)
Took his class during winter for a total of 6 weeks only and it went by so quickly. Overall he is a great professor and really easy to reach if you ever have any questions. Replies within a couple of hours! Does try to be there for students and help out by answering questions.
I took this class during Winter 2021, online, super CONDENSED but went by fast. Professor Masoud knows his stuff but is also receptive, as his replies on here show. He is not out to fail. On the contrary, he does as much as he can and is transparent with grading. His humor showed and made him more relatable. Would have enjoyed a regular semester...
Took professor Masoud during winter course, would definitely recommend to anyone. I was going into chemistry nervous because I did not know anything. I thought it was going to be hard but professor Masoud really helped better understand the subject. Although it was a six week course I knew it was going to be a lot of work but it was do-able.
Please don't trust most of these reviews. Material & tests were reasonable, but he rarely understood what students were asking about which made the class confused. Lab reports took on avg 7 weeks to grade (longest it took him was 8 weeks and 5 days)... in a 16-week course. Lack of feedback was one of the reasons why over half the class dropped.
He was an amazing professor for Chem 10 spring 2021!! Im glad I was able to pass with an A before summer!! very easy professor I liked that during office hours he really helped with the labs! definitely recommend!!
Midterms in this class are tough, and even a bit beyond what he teaches on the lecture which is frustrating. As a person, he does care about answering students' questions properly. Overall, he is a good one but be prepared to put in a lot of effort, because sometimes you have to complete your knowledge on your own.
Great professor that helps a lot during his office hours. I chose this class because it didnt require zoom, so it does require a lot of self studying. The class itself is quite easy, test and quiz were all included in his lectures. Lab reports are the most challenging, but he goes over any of the questions we need help on in his office hours.
I enjoyed professor Masoud. Given this class was online it was tough. Especially working full time. I was nervous when I first started this class because I know it requires a lot time and I took this during summer. His tests are from powerpoints and the questions that are on tests are very similar to what weve gone over with hw. You can do it!
Took professor Masoud for the summer and I enjoyed his class he was always making sure we understood what he was teaching us. He also took time out of his week to give us extra time for help on Fridays. He was also good on helping us with any questions we had and always went over labs to make sure our work was correct. I definitely enjoyed class.
I took this class in summer. He's great very helpful not easy but lectures are very straight toward. 3 tests, 1 final, 13 lab reports, 10-12? quizzes, and HW by chem101. you can pass easily if you do hw and go over ppt before take a test.
Professor Roueintan is a great chemistry professor. He has natural knowledge in the subject. The class was laid back, although it seemed to be difficult at times putting in the effort will bring you success. This class has 3 mid-terms, chapter quizzes, online homework, a few formal and non-formal lab reports. Great professor and humorous.
Chill and laidback professor. Really great in how he teaches his students and there are 3 midterm and the final is standardized by ACS. All in all, difficulty is subjective but I can say he is probably the best professor that I took in Mt SAC. Makes you motivated and understanding of any situation. You won't regret taking him! 10/10
Professor Masoud is very chill & so was the class. The exams are difficult & really make you think about the content. Make sure to do practice problems and ask questions when you need to & it should be fine. I like that he makes casual conversations with the class, making it fun and easy to ask him questions.
Professor Masoud Roueintan is a nice professor, hilarious, thoughtful, and friendly. The homework on Chem101, online quizzes, and the exams were in person. The exams were difficult, but there was an activity package make sure to do it before the exams. Do your labs carefully because he graded the labs really detailed.
1% extra credit, 2 lowest lab reports replaced by average of 5 activities. Exams are difficult but is expected in a chemistry class. Best prof for me, you won't regret it. However, you need to attend Lecture as many of the info that he speaks is crucial for your exams. Labs were fun too, very understanding if you don't understand anything.
There are many bad professors in STEM and he isn't considered one. GOAT prof curves the exams if the class didn't do well. However, do your labs properly as small details can be easily deducted. Personality wise very motivated and charismatic. Honors was fun and I feel that this class is easier than a normal 51 course which I dropped in spring.
Definitely one of the best teachers I've ever had. He tries his best to explain the concepts in ways students will understand and is willing to repeat himself. He also explains techniques really well in lab and makes it a lot more fun. If you want a good grade in this class you definitely have to work for it though he offers some extra credit.
Predicted to get an A for this course if everything checks out. Really grateful for this professor, he is really the best. If you choose to enroll in his class, please don't take advantage of him as he is really lenient compared to many profs. Just stay focused in the semester and you will do fine.
Best Professor!
Took this class for the winter session and as it is, chemistry is a heavy subject to learn in 6 weeks but Professor Roueintan made it very clear and understandable. He truly cares about his students and wants everyone to pass. Best professor I've ever had!
Had this professor for Chem 51H. Though he is hard all of his grades make sense. He openly tells you how he is going to grade you and keeps his promises on what he will curve or drop. Tough test/exams but listening in lectures and not falling asleep in class does help.
This class was honestly the hardest course I have ever taken up to this point, the transition was challenging and the concepts aren't ones that are easily understood unless a lot of practice is put into it. Besides that, Prof. Masoud is one of the best chemistry profs you can take! Listen closely to his lectures and advice in class, you'll make it!
The kindest professor I've ever had. He is willing to help you succeed in the class and provides a lot of opportunities to bring your grade up. The exams are difficult but he tells you what is going to be on them for the most part. A little picky on the lab reports as well, but if you want a good grade, you need to work for it. Def recommend!
People complaining about him being tough. Ofc its CHEM 51H not some GE. I'll say its decent, 1% extra credit is honestly better than nothing. Some profs don't even offer extra credit. Love him alot, you just got to be mentally prepared for chemistry. You got to actually work hard and not rely on luck. ACS was hard but prepares yoy for chem 80.
I would like to clear up some misconceptions tossed around. There are no +'s or -'s in the grading system, and the professor mentioned that there were only A's and B's in the course. Also, gradings were done by Saturday of finals week, which is not late at all. Finally, I know what I'm good at, which is working hard and helping out people in need.
Professor Masoud is genuinely amazing! This class was tough, especially if Chemistry is not your cup of tea, but his method of teaching truly helps. He's precise in grading lab reports, which is no big deal because he provides enough feedback for improvement. You can see how he cares about his students and he did a lot to help us all pass.
Major Requirement - Hybrid style class. Lots of work is done on your own. He is great, Chemistry is just a hard subject & requires a lot of memorization. The labs were pretty easy, as long as you were present. Lecture hour is extremely helpful when a little confused on something. Highly recommend utilizing tutoring services. Do all the work on time
I took him in 2021. Excellent pick. I struggled with a different prof in spring 21 when covid was still there. Dropped that prof and took this prof for 51H. It isn't an easy class but that is expected. However, he will do his best to make you succeed. The labs are not easy but they are fairly graded. Good luck.
Really enjoyed his class. It's very obvious that Professor Masoud cares about his students. A lot of my class actually disliked him but I felt like as long as you studied seriously you'd be fine. Doesn't give much partial credit on free response in exams so it's really easy to lose points on simple mistakes. Study seriously and you'll be fine.
I took in summer, he is very heavy with the material and that is my biggest complaint. Here is what you can expect for the week. 1DA with response, 3 quizzes, 3 pre labs and lab reports along with 3 homework sets on aktiv which consist of 20 to160 problems each. 3 exams 1 final. Super cool professor just very heavy with material.
Amazing Professor! He seems so sweet and genuine, like he really wants you to succeed. There are lots of pre-labs and lab work and he grades hard but fair. He's willing to help anyone who asks and tries to prepare students for upcoming tests. I legitimately believe he's just a great person.
From the beginning, Professor Masoud clarifies that he is here to support you. As head chair of the department, it is obvious that he is knowledgeable and fair. I took this course over the summer, and this was a full-time job, most of my time was spent studying. By completing all the extra credit I was barely able to get an A
Chemistry is a difficult subject. Professor Masoud is more than willing to help you understand the materal though, and is very generous with extra credit. He gives you 2 weeks to read 2-3 chapters and watch all the lectures, which is great. Don't fall back on the reading or skip class, you'll miss critical information. He's also hot af ;) lol
CHEM51H is a tough course, but Prof. Masoud makes it manageable. Attend lectures, work hard, and utilize resources like unstuckstudy - you'll do well. He genuinely cares about student success.
Honestly, if I put in the effort into the class, I believe I would've gotten a higher grade. Professor Masoud is a great teacher. You could tell he is passionate about what he teaches and wants you to succeed. My suggestion to pass the course is go to tutoring and do practice questions for exams. It is super helpful and I wished I did that sooner
He was very kind to us and generous with grades. He dropped 2 quizzes, 2 or 3 lab reports, replaced lowest exam with lecture final if raised our grade. Attend all lectures and lab meetings to get a higher grade. Go to all exam reviews and final review as well. Highly recommended. It's fun and nice views 👌
Probably one of the best professors I've had. Lectures are easy to understand, and he explain the labs in detail beforehand. He's also funny and really sweet. Very understanding and accommodating. Tests were not hard either. He gives a lot of extra credits too. Highly recommend!
He is the best professor at Mt. Sac that I have ever met. His kindness, ethics, and professionalism in teaching inspired me in Chem 10 and beyond to be a good person. Even though Chem 10 is difficult, he explained it in a way that was most understandable and practically possible for students to grasp the lesson.
