too much group work in short period of time, but gave me new perspectives

one of the best mktg teachers, if you want to learn something
He is very moody and authoritarian. There is only one right answer: HIS. He embarrasses everyone at least once. Take careful lecture notes, he will ask exact stuff in the exam as short answer portion. choice: Kiss ass,let him embarrass you or fail.
He is ruthless, rude and embarrases everyone.
He is a very straight forward teacher and it is not easy but he is really smart and you get forced to learn. If you can not handle him picking on you, stay away! BUT, if you like to talk and nothing scares you, this class is perfect!
Avoid this class at all costs... one of the worst teachers I have ever had
He is a very tough teacher but the class IS interesting! He doesn't put up with anything. If you work HARD then it's fine. He's cocky.
This teacher is scary at first, but those that hack the first few weeks find they have an interesting teacher. He's kinda mean. His exams are fairly hard(atleast the written portion of it).Know current events and read the book to participate in class. gd lk
HE is NOT that bad!!! He is hard and straight forward but you learn and it is interesting! If you work hard, you will enjoy it! 2 tests and 2 projects are it plus 15% participation!!
He will yell and clap to get your attention and if you are not participating he will pick on you until you contribute. If you do the work and its easy.He has participation points, but no one except "GOD" can get 100% for a grade. This is a dir
He is good.
He is a very interesting but hard professor. Go to class and participate, need read the book to do well on the exam. Group projects are okay with the right people. You will find that he is one of the better profs at SDSU. Is a fair grader.
The workload is relatively light, nearly all done on group projects. Your politics may not be in line with his, and it is true that his opinion is the right one, but it is nice to see a truly international perspective.
He definitely looks like Saddam Hussein, and tries to act the part. Brutal!

Sometimes he is rude, but he encourages you to realize a critical thinking and to make a linkage between the course program and real global facts. I learned a lot, and had the opportunity to work with a good team, though the exams are hard!

saghafi is cool. he has a great personality and wants everyone to learn....just don't argue with him. he's pretty good looking too.....in a strange kind of way....at least i thought so. 3 exams and a group project. READ the book for exams. very interesting class. make sure you go to class.
Prof. Saghafi is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He'll scare you during the first week, but that's just to show you he means business. We need more teachers like him. Easy workload, and exams are fair.
He is mean, bossy,& has a typical liberal viewpoint. You do learn a lot in class though.Go to class, read all chapters,& get a good group. You will at least get a B. Have to study to get an A.U must participate in class discussions. Good luck!
Good Prof. Acts mean at first, but can be very nice. Read the book to do well on the exams. Group projects very simple. Overall, pretty basic class.
Dictator all the way! Very smart man you'll learn tons if you get past the first few weeks.Dont fall asleep or make your self look like an ass by talking too much, listen & make intellectual contributions to discussions. Best class this semester, 3 exams you can opt for all essay do that/grp project
He is very intimidating at first and sometimes he is a jerk, but I learned ALOT from this class and it was very interesting. Participate in class and study hard for the exams because they are difficult yet fair.
A little scary at first, but you grow to like him. The group projects are difficult, but they are meaningful. Likes to clap his hands to get your attention.
Definitely scary at first, but take time to talk to him outside of class and you will feel better. He is a great teacher, and this is a REAL college class. Participate, and read the book or you will fail the tests. Very smart, and has useful and applicable projects and examples!
He is not a nice guy and he doesn't seem to care about anyone besides himself! I would never take him again and I would never trust him to grade me according to my level of performance in his class; rather he grades students according to how much he likes/dislikes them! UNFAIR!
This guy's a trip. Very smart, funny, you will learn with him. This is not a class to take for an easy grade, though, you will have to work for it, and even then you might not get a good grade. I gave it a good effort and wound up with a C+. Still, one of my fave classes that semester.
Very intelligent and has a lot of real world experience. Really enjoyed his class. Tests were hard but if you attend class and participate you'll be fine. He sets very clear expectations, and gives interesting lectures. Read the BOOK, but don't worry because it is well written.
PRICELESS.. IF U ARE REALLY INTERESTED IN INT. BUSINESS, THIS IS THE BEST TEACHER... ZUI HAO DE LAOSHI..! XIEXIE NI!!
AWSOME TEACHER!
He is really hard and really mean! He knows everything about Marketing but isn't good at explaining things. He has a temper!! Try taking another teacher...
he is such a horrible teacher and doesnt care about anyone besides himself and protecting his big-shot image on campus

What an egomaniac. So arrogant, rude and full of unfounded statements and prejudice comments.
I must admit that he was very arrogant and intimidating at the first few classes. But after you have meet him besides class you will see his 'real' personality. How he is in class is just a face he takles on, he just wants his students to learn and use their brains. Hard class but learned a lot from him.
teacher is very confrontational&intimidating and that is for the entire semester.but u get used to it.his teaching style is very unique..be prepared to offer some decent opinions in class discussions.exams very hard.lectures very interesting-cant get more real than that.nice out of class.group projects important for grade.
In my oppinon he is extreamly lazy and has a poor understanding of the material. I got an A by reading the book and never going to class.
this guy is alright. don't be an ass to him and he won't be ass to you. come to class ready to participate and you'll be fine.
He is difficult, you have to participate, tests are difficult. Get on his good side, don't be a smartass, and study like hell for his tests-half multiple choice half essay. Overall you learn a lot and the material is interesting. He can be intimidating, but he is really nice at heart, he just puts on a tough act to try to get you to learn.
EXTREAMLY lazy and has a poor understanding of TEACHING to his students. I got an C. I had work my ass off for dame C. He is very smart but have a terrible teaching method and communication skills. NEVER in his office hours
EXTREAMLY lazy and has a poor understanding of TEACHING to his students. I got an C. I had work my ass off for dame C. He is very smart but have a terrible teaching method and communication skills. NEVER in his office hours
It all true. He is a hard teacher, but not lazy. You have to do the work. Read the book. Attend class. His essay questions are related to lecture and M/c to book. 4 group projects, so have a good group. He is nice and tries to teach. He is always in his office or Starbucks :)Good luck
Rude. Arrogant. Political Ideology could raise some huge concerns. Homeland Security might be interested with this guy
It is difficult therefore you must keep up with the assigned readings before class.3exams:#1-10%(easiest),#2-25%(hard),#3-25%(Hardest).2grp projects:1st-10%(eassy),2nd-20%(fair).Exams are structured 30% essays & 70% m/c.Overall,Saghafi is an arogant-hardass.He likes to call on students to make them look like idiots,however,10% is participation.
This teacher is a beast, avoid him at all costs. He made a girl cry in front of the whole class within the first week of school. People say he eases up, but I don't think so. Big project and hard tests.
The class is very hard and requires a lot of studying to do well on the tests. He seems mean, but is actually an extremely nice person. I learned more from him and this class than any other. Yes he is hard, but deal with it and you will so much from him. Go to his office as well, he's always available and helpful.
He has a different teaching style, but very effective. alot of his stuff is case studies and how to apply things to real life. I loved the class, learned a lot and got an A. Just apply yourself and stay on top of everything, otherwise it will be tough, but how is that any different from the real business world.
I've avoided this class for 4 semester, b/c i was hoping he would retire or a new section would open up. He is a very harsh person and some what conceited... but i gotta say that he is intelligent and has provided me with some very valuable knowledge about the real business world.
This class is terrible!! The professor is uninteresting. The readings are boring and a filled with mispellings and poor grammar. The lectures are painful to sit through. I can honestly sum up what I learned in a word: NOTHING.
Saghafi probably prides himself on being "controversial", as he's arrogant and abrasive. Sometimes this works to make a brilliant teacher - unfortunately not in this case. His assignments were vague and he was not helpful in clarifying requirements. Final exam was nitpicky and didn't serve to teach anything - just memorize the assigned reading.
a tough class for sure, you will learn a lot though. as far as saghafi as a person: arrogant, cocky, rude, repeatitive, questionable as far as his facts, biased, and definately anti american, and totally baised when it comes to lecturing, throws his left wing agenda right in your face.
What an arrogrant ass! His final is nearly impossible, even though it is open note. The readings for the class are on average 10 years old which makes them completely irrelevant. The case studies are poorly written papers from his former undergrad students. I learned more about global politics than I did about Intl Marketing. Avoid this prof!!
You better go to class, because he is knows who is there & who is not, even if he does not know your name, &he will make comments to you. Choose a good group from the begining or your grade will be up in the air till the end. Tests are difficult. Essays are from class lectures, and 50 multiple choice or so are from the book which u read on ur own
Sure, this is a hard class with tough exams and huge projects, the teacher is very straight forward, rude, controversial and intimidating. You better come to class prepared or he will make you feel like a stupid. But this guy really knows his subject and I learned a lot from him.
REALLY challenging but he's quite the character. Very entertaining yet strange and controversial.
Saghafi (& Salehizadeh) is the BEST! He made me want to learn again, I only wish I had him for a professor earlier on and more often! It's a tough class, but it's never boring and he is very interesting to talk to during office hours. He comes off as an ass, but in reality is a very nice, caring, and an intelligible person.
Very impressive and enjoyable! I found him to be knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. Very good class to understand International Business. The final exam was one of the most fair one in my opinion. He is very direct-so be prepared. I think he wants students to think Internationally. You will have to sweat to get an ‘A’ grade.
I really liked this class...teacher is arrogant and borderline rude but he really knows his stuff and gets you thinking in non US centric ways...I'd take him again.
Yeap! Either you Love him or you Hate him!!! Very interesting thinking: "Think internationally, act locally". He's right... not being pro-american... American success is not based in their skils but in oil monopoly and selling weapons. What would be americans without it??? I still can't imagine that natives were pushed to reserves...
teacher wouldn't let me see a dying relative.. said I'd miss out on 10% of my grade for attending funeral. heartless creep that could get sdsu into if legal action is taken
He is an extremely difficult teacher but I have NEVER learned more in one class in my entire life! If you want to learn Marketing, take him! Go to his office hours, if for no reason, just so he knows your name & make sure you participate DAILY! It will make or break you! Also, if you don't do well on the 1st m/c test, opt for the all essays tests!
Take the all essay tests. Difficult papers with no real direction given from him. Be prepared to work hard for a grade that might not reflect your effort
Pitiful at instruction – subsequent instructors have had to go over material he was incapable if adequately covering. Avoid him.
You either love him or hate him. Once you get used to his teaching style and come to class prepared it's not so bad. All assignments and exams are graded very harshly, by no means an easy class, getting a B is probably the best anyone can get, C's are prayed for. You'll hear "don't believe me? Go Google it" a lot.
Saghafi... In the classroom he can be abrasive and arrogant at times, BUT HE IS BRILLIANT! Outside of class he's super chill. Do not take his course if you're one of those "winger" types, he can pick you out in a heartbeat. Read. Study. Listen to his lectures and pay attention to his charts. You will learn so much from him. I promise.
He will scare you for the first part of the semester, but he softens up a lot by the end of the term. Take all essay tests if you don't read the book back to back. He is SO SMART- he might seem really intimidating, but go to class & go to office hours.. I learned more in this class than any other upper division class at state. PS:Don't fall asleep!
Useful if you are a novice at thinking internationally. Useless otherwise. For a seminar class there is practically no discussion, just his droning on and on. Terrible at letting you know what he expects. His "shocking" teaching style is no big deal, just an act that gets old fast.
Super hard but one of the best professors you will ever have at state. Knows what hes talking about. He's intimidating but you get over it. READ everything.Really hard tests. READ seriously. a lot easier grader in essay parts. Take all essay if you go to class all the time and understand everything.
His goal from the first day of class is to make you scared of him, but if you go to his office hours and see him around campus he really is not that bad. If you sleep in class, or read a newpaper he will pick you out and make you feel like crap. be aware. this is not a class to dink around in. its hard but you will learn a lot!
I hated going to class! i was scared just knowing that he would call me out and embarrass me. that was what he did best. It was unbelievable how sometimes he downtalked to some people.hard tests. very! despite how he was, i cant bring myself to talk bad about him. he is intelligent and nice when you go to office hours. get to know him, it will help
Extremely hard! Treats everyone as if they're immature. Continues the pro american deception of minds propaganda campaign. Best way you're going to make use of this class is by working for a multinational corporation and putting profits over people. There is no such thing as national sovereignty in his world.
The best professor to take if you really want to learn something from class. Very difficult, but you will learn a lot. It's your choice to take easy class and get just a grade or take this class and get actual knowledge.
This is a tough class. The tests are super hard and you have a couple group papers which are not easy. While I have learned a lot, my grade does not show. You must read the book. almost nothing from the lectures are on the test. i would not recommend taking him. I just hope to pass the class.
He's very intimidating. Don't use your laptop, read, or sleep during his class! He will catch you and he will tell you off &/or make you leave. You must read every chapter assigned including text in the margins. Take notes during lecture (esp. diagrams) b/c that's what the essay portion of exams are based on. Participate a lot (10% of your grade)
I have attended school in different countries and Saghafi is simply the best professor I have ever had. He is the only one knowing what school is about, if you don't work you don't get the best grades. But if you just entering his classes you will learn for life.
This is the hardest class I've EVER taken; however, I have learned the most in this single class. Saghafi is intimidating!!....he is very knowledgeable and all I can say is PAY ATTENTION and don't miss class. You will learn everything you need to know about marketing in this class but it requires a lot of time and energy....good class
Ok this class is super helpful to marketing/business majors, i didnt think he was very helpful though. He is egotistical, disrespectful, and thinks he "changes everyones lives". The class is incredibly useful, but I learned the most from the book, not from his overhyped d-bag lectures
Take him! This class is extremely hard, but for sure you will learn a lot! Read the book and don't miss any classes!
If your goal is to learn about international marketing, this is the class you HAVE to take
I'm an International Business major and the knowledge I gained from this class is incredible. VERY CHALLENGING class, but this man is a genius. My respect for Prof Saghafi.
Professor Saghafi is well versed in this field with a world of practical experience. His radiant character and dept of knowledge brings life to the subject.
Be ready, he is an opinionated professor with a big ego. He will respect you more if you take a firm stance on questions. His teaching style is a little different, more discussion than lecture. I didnt realize it at the time but I actually learned a lot from him. The book is used heavily. I think it was a good experience and he is a great teacher.
Saghafi is super Chill outside the classroom, but inside the classroom, OMG, U BETTER STAY AWAKE. He will catch u if u sleep. Overall the class is super hard. His lecture is different from the book. And Test is based on mainly book and some lecture. READ THE BOOK, pay attention to all power points. TAKE HIM IF U WANT TO LEARN. Best class at sdsu!
If you want a small taste of an MBA level class I believe this is it. Do not dare to sign up for this class if you're looking for an easy A. Professor Saghafi is a great lecturer, one of the best professors at SDSU.
Wow. This class is terrible. Save yourself unnecessary pain and just buy the book at the book store. This professor adds nothing to the topic. Prepare to be disrespected and treated like a child. Also, prepare to be given vague instructions and then attacked for not reading the dictator's mind. Not current on trends.
Awesome teacher. I understand the material and he is good at explaining when I am lost. Always willing to help during office hours or pretty much anytime he can. Really helps that he makes the tests from the old tests he gives you!! Study the old test and you will be glad you did!!! Many class examples to study also. He shows you how to work probs!
Dr. Saghafi is very knowledgeable about what he's teaching. if you're taking his class prepare to participate in class discussion about the assigned cases as well as the current news. take a lot of notes during class if you would like to ace the final. the final is actually about what you have learned from the class and from Dr. Saghafi.
EXCELLENT TEACHER! If you're interested in Marketing and wants to learn with concrete examples, please don't hesitate to take this class! The teacher discuss international business news every class and he really makes you THINK. The tests aren't easy, you will need both the book and your class notes to discuss. But most interesting class.
Very tough class. Tests are 70% multiple choice and 30% open ended. Open ended questions are very tough and you don't have enough time to thoroughly finish answering all questions. His lectures don't match up with the material he puts on the test. If you read the book and or buy the test bank you might have a chance but I don't recommend!
A little intimidating, most Int. Students decided to drop the class since there is constant participation required. He does NOT take attendance. he just requires the students that do attend class to pay attention. He gets very upset when he finds others on their phones and will call them out. Buy test bank, found out too late! Amazing human being!!
He is by far one of the best marketing professors at SDSU. I'm so glad I took his class because I actually learned something. He tries to scare his students but he's actually a nice person and also very funny. I actually didn't his tests were hard at all (maybe because I read and attended lectures). Overall I highly recommended over anyone else.
This was the hardest class I've ever taken at state. I typically get As and I barely passed with a C. I attended all classes and read the book multiple times. The exams are insanely hard. That being said, it was my favorite class content wise and I learned a lot! Saghafi is a great teacher, don't be intimidated, but your GPA will take a hit.
If international marketing is something that truly interests you, take this course. If you are looking for an easy "A" this is NOT the class for you. Saghafi is tough, but an amazing professor and you WILL learn. Want an "A"? Come prepared for class, know what is going on in the world, read the book, be engaged and attend his office hours.
A must-take class for International Business / International Marketing majors. You learn so much about what is going on in the world and how it's relevant to the class. Saghafi tries to be intimidating at first, but really is a cool guy and will talk to you about anything outside of class. Not an easy class, but definitely worth taking. Highly rec.
This professor was scary at first, mostly from an exchange student's view point. But then I realized how awesome he was !
Dr. Saghafi ended up being one of my favorite professors of my academic career (undergraduate and graduate). Don't take anything too personally. He really wants you to succeed. Amazing professor, advisor, and mentor.
This class stressed me out daily with Wall Street journal readings and textbook readings. Extremely hard class.
Hands down the best professor I've had. The class is tough and he keeps you on your toes but if you really want to learn something about international business and gain real world knowledge he's your guy. 3 multiple choice tests straight from the book (try to find the test bank) with 3 essay Qs from class and two very interesting group projects.
Prof. Saghafi is REAL. Don't test him or believe me it won't be pretty. Guy is straight forward on what he wants from you and try to follow EVERYTHING to a T! If an assignment says 1 page, DO 1 PAGE or he will toss your paper (no joke). His tests are extremely hard given that they have material from lectures and book. Find test bank if possible!
Had him in ‘95—easily one of the rudest professors I've ever had. I worked full-time while taking his class, so I was exhausted, but I gave it my all. If he didn't like your answer, he'd berate and humiliate you in front of everyone. One night, I walked out of his class because I had had enough of his behavior. No regrets.
