His powerpoints are all copied and pasted from the book, so there's no point in reading them. His questions, which have horrible grammar that can confuse you, require an analytical mastery of the material that he never reinforced because his overall vagueness. Taking this class is like learning to do gymnastics before you can walk. DON'T TAKE HIM.
Took his course during the summer. Finally made it with an A! Prof Kassa is excellent professor. Responds to emails immediately. Tests are from the text. Offers extra credit opprtunities. As long as you read the book and ask questions, you can easily get an A.
Best prof ever! Wants all his students to succeed. Already registered in his 2302 class for spring
Thanks to professor Kassa, I understand what is going on in the world. He explains economics very well. I am glad I took his class. Do all the quizzes and exams and you will do well.
Kassa is a very funny and learn able instructor. Whenever you have a problem, he is always there to help. Very easy online quizzes and semester essay he assigns. Overall, a great guy to learn from. Would recommend him to anyone
I learned a lot and got an A. Do all the work and you will be fine. He is very helpful and nice.
He's very rude. He's not understanding at all. He isn't helpful. He doesn't care about his students. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM AT ALL. I used rate my professor before signing up for his class and thought it would be a good class, and I was wrong.
I just finished the course with a B. Dr. Kassa is wonderful! He is VERY helpful and nice. He IS understanding and flexible when it comes to due dates. He wants his students to succeed. There were a couple of bad apples in the class who always came late and missed classes. Which may explain some of the negative comments here. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
I would not advice taking this class online. The course syllabus is straight forward. You must do well on all of these tests if any hope in passing the class because the quizzes make up so little points. In class lectures are a necessity for how challenging the course material is. Not an easy online class compared to others.
Econ is hard. but dr. kassa makes it easy. he responded to my emails quickly and provided complete explanation to all of my questions. Clear syllabus. Class is well organized. Best online class. I am registered in his econ2302 for the summer.
Dr. Kassa is the best. I took him online and I am glad I signed up for his class. He responds to your email fast. He is very helpful and want you to succeed. You will learn a lot and get a good grade. I highly recommend him.
I took this class during the summer to satisfy the requirements for my degree. This is by far the best class I have taken at DCCCD so far! You have to participate in discussions and do weekly quizzes. He uses FREE textbook for this course!!!
i took both 2301 and 2302 with dr. kassa. He is amazing. gives you free copy of the textbook. responds to email quick. very flexible. Can't ask for better.
Prof. Kassa is great!!! You will definitely learn to understand what's going on in the world as well as be able to hold an educated conversation about the economy. He provides a FREE copy of the text book and ALL test and quizzes are taken online. His in class lectures are very helpful and well organized. I would recommended him.
This class was great, I took it online for dual credit and would recomend to anyone who needs ECON credit it was quick and not difficult at all. The test make up most of your grade but are basically all the quizzes combined so you have good study material. great class and he responds to emails quickly
Tests are extremely difficult in the online portion. Because the online copy of the book is all you have it is very difficult to follow along, and convert the understanding into the tests
He is a great guy. Love him. He is knowledgeable and nice. The class is well organized. If you have questions he responds fast. Do the quizzes and you will do great.
I am taking his Micro class also.
I just finished macro with Prof Kassa. This is the best class ever. The class is organized. He gives you the text and he has lecture videos. He responds to emails within minutes!!!
I took the course online during summer 2. I really enjoyed this class. He provided the textbook for free which saved me a lot of money! he has a video of him self explaining each chapter! I highly recommend prof kassa!
I took Prof. Kassa for both econ2302 and econ2301 and passed both with A. He gives a free book which is phenomenal. He has great lecture videos online. Make sure you follow the due dates and submit quizzes and exam and you will be fine. He is a nice guy. I highly recommend him for both courses. You will learn a lot.
He is the best economics professor by far. Take him. Complete all homework and exams on time and you will get an A.
Professor Kassa knows the subject very well. His class is well organized and easy to follow. He has lecture videos for the topics and you will learn a lot. I highly recommend him.
Great professor! I took his online course and made an A. He has videos that help you understand the material much better. Follow due dates and you will be fine. Take his class.
Loved this professor. Lectures were very helpful.
Took this course in the winter. Extremely easy course, I finished early. There are 3 exams (280pts), 15 quizzes (10pts), and an essay (10pts). Quizzes can be taken twice. You can find all of the quizzes and exams online. The paper was a little difficult. Textbook is online, has informational videos of himself as well. 10 pts extra credit.
Very easy class a quiz every week, 3 exams, and one essay.
TAKE THIS CLASS ! i took the maymester and finished the whole course in about a week because the prof opened everything at once. literally EVERYTHING IS ONLINE. I ended up with a B in the class because I didnt do the final paper which was like 1000 or 2000 words i think so hey ill take that B anyday !!!
VERY EASY CLASS ! I LOVE IT GREAT TEACHER. HE PROVIDE US FREE TEXTBOOKS.
TAKE HIM. 26 chapter quizzes, 3 exams, everything is online. EVERYTHING. There are 1025 points total, you only need 900 to make an A. sooooo choose him!
Great teacher. Professor laid out all of the coursework as soon as the semester started during the summer 2 semester. Highly recommend this professor.
Highly recommend him. You are able to take the coursework as soon as he posts them. Read and listen to the video lectures very helpful. I passed with an A. No need to purchase book.
Professor Kassa was very clear on the syllabus. Just make sure to read your syllabus and dates carefully. Gives you the book for free so no need to spend money. Consist of 3 exams and 15 quizzes. Just make sure you take both opportunities on the quiz, because they are basically the test. Even gives you extra credit.
Class is very clear to follow. Consist of 3 exams and 15 quizzes. Study your quizzes and you will do fine for your exams. He gives you the book for free. Also offers an extra credit.
Took online for wintermester. Dr Kassa is a good Prof. A lot of quizzes and 4 major tests, not hard. Easy class to pass if you complete all of the work. 1 research paper at end of semester. Used free book online.
This was a great online class, Professor Kassa's assignments were not overwhelming and he took into account that students have other obligations (other classes, work, etc.). Be ready for weekly assignments and quizzes. As long as you stay on top of your work, you will be fine.
I don't like ECON but it was an easy A Wish i took him for 2301 no 200$ software to buy. Everything's online. I took as a flex term. If ur busy with tougher classes this is an easy class that u can use to boost ur gpa and get some credits without even trying. Just watch for those dates and its an easy A. word docs r ur best friend for online tests
Taken online flex term. Easy class. Free copy of textbook online. Clear grading criteria. Clear due dates.
This class was very easy. I took this class online and all the answers to all his quizzes are available online. His whole class consisted of about 15 quizzes (20 questions) and 3 tests (60 questions). While a lot of the answers are online, there seem to be some wrong ones online as well, particularly on the test. Overall, it was pretty easy to pass
Class itself was easy, I just didn't really apply myself. Even then I ended up with a B. He provides the textbook. Lectures are good.
This was one of the hardest classes I took, lectures were heavy. Quizzes were hard. Wouldn't recommend.
Professor Kassa is a very knowledgeable teacher. I took him online and learned a lot. His lecture videos are very helpful. Plan your time and complete assignments on time. You will do well. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM.
One of the most frustrating class. Powerpoints did not even help with the quizzes or exams. Very confusing. I would not recommend at all.
Dr. Kassa is one of the best professors. He gives you a lot of helpful material and is always accessible outsid of class. I took both Macro and Micro with him. I enjoyed both classes. He includes what he calls matching exercises in Micro. These are a bit hard but if you watch his videos and study the book you should do well. Recommend!
This professor knows how to set up a course. All of the information is laid out clearly. He has quizzes for each chapter, 3 major exams and a paper. All of his assignments come from the videos prepared by himself and from the book. He gives the book free! He responds to emails quickly and is always nice. Take him!
I took both macro and micro with Mr. Kassa. He gives you all the information you need to succeeded. I watched all of his videos and used the textbook. A lot of extra credit more in macro than micro. You have to follow the due dates. He doesn't allow extensions otherwise he replies to all of your questions within a few minutes. I recommend him!
This professor is not lenient or forgiving to your situations that you may have in your life. I went through one of the worst times in my life unexpected during this last semester taking this class online. It was like pulling teeth for him to open the exam up for me to take it due to my situation that was really bad. He strict and unforgiving.
Really easy/straightforward wintermester class. Assignments included 15 quizzes, 15 discussion board posts and one term paper. Grading scheme included over 100 points of extra credit, so if you do all of the assignments on time its not hard to get an A at all. Highly recommend - quick and easy course to get credit transferred to another university!
Dr. Kassa is the best. If you watch his videos and read the book you will have no problem passing this class. he explains everything in detail.
I just finished macro with prof kassa. He is amazing!! He has lecture videos. Gives you the book for free. Watch his videos and study your book and you will get good grade. I wish i took micro with him.
I took his class over the summer. Pretty easy as long as you read. There are 5 chapters chapter quizzes and 1 unit test, and there are 3 units along with short essay. As the class progresses, it gets more difficult; mainly his matching portion. Overall the class was easy, he replies less than a day! Wont take the class again but he's a good teacher
This teacher is the epitome of ridiculous. I honestly have no words. Not only was it ridiculously hard to keep an A in his class, he NEVER replied to my emails. I emailed him multiple times and he literally just didn't respond. His quizzes are the most confusing thing I have ever done, the matching makes no sense. I switched my prof. for micro.
I highly recommend Prof Kassa. He gives you free textbook. He responds to your email immediately. He has tons of videos. They are amazing. I am taking him for 2302.
He is a wonderful professor. He responds to emails within minutes - literally. I once sent him an email at 1am while at work and got a response in 5 minutes! He has 15 chapter tests and 3 exams. The matching portion of may be difficult at first but you will get the hang of it after a couple of chapters. You just need to watch the videos and read th
I am a UT student. I took this when I am home during the summer. I can tell you this is the best decision! Prof Kassa is amazing . Watch his videos and make sure not to miss deadlines.
99% of the quizzes involved matching random words to what you read in the chapter. Good luck with that no matter how much you read and watch the lectures. Which are hard to understand with his accent. There is a long paper due at the end of the semester and he grades very hard on it even if you meet everything on the rubric. Take a different class.
Kassa is great. All of his exams are based on what he covers in his videos and the text. You will find some of the answers online. but you need to study and watch the videos to get an "A".
best professor. His class is very organized. All exams are based on what he teaches
Do not take a flex term class with this professor. He makes you do a lot. You have to go through all of his lectures videos and the information in the book if you want to PASS. I'm not talking about an A, I mean if you want a DECENT grade. After taking his class, it almost feels like most of the comments here are fake. Save yourself the stress.
I just finished Professor Kassa's class and got an A. You only need to read the book or watch the lecture videos. You will be fine. Take him. He is great!
Prof Kassa is a good instructor. He shares a lot of material to make the course interesting. You only need to read the textbook to pass the course. If you need A you also need to watch his videos.
Professor Kassa was a really nice and friendly person. He was one of the professors who replied to email fast. I once sent out an email, and he responded to me within an hour. However, it was the most difficult class I've ever taken. Whenever I had to take a chapter quiz, I was so stressed out, wanting to cry with my life. SO JUST BE READY TO READ!
Lots of discussion boards (you will need to post daily) and you have to meet strict deadlines. Tests were difficult and heavy but most of the answers were online. The class at least is very interesting and he grades fasts and nicely.
pretty boring lecture-wise, and he can be very convoluted. however, COVID saved the day. almost every single test question was easily found online, and he was very forgiving of a friend of mine who was in danger of failing. stickler for attendance, but a pretty nice guy
I love Professor Kassa! His lecture videos are extremely helpful. You will have 15 tests, 3 exams, and a paper. You can take the test 2x. I didn't try to plagiarize by trying to find the answers online. but as long as you read the textbook (he gives you a copy for free) and watch his videos, you will lean a lot and get a good grade.
Don't pay for any access + provides textbook. If you watch his videos then read, & follow the schedule/write dates down(I missed an assignment cause I didn't)you'll be fine. No missing assignments unless excused. Hardest part was the matching on quizes bc they're sometimes vague. 2 tries on (15)quizes & 1 try on (3)exams + 1 short essay. Doable.
This class consisted 15 quizzes, 3 exams, and an essay. I did everything, except the essay and received a B. This class was really easy and somewhat self pace. Everything was outlined and as along as you did the assignments by the due dates you were good. I work full time so talking this class really helped tremendously.
Everything is great. Book is online and free. He has videos for all chapters except one. Watch his videos and read the text. I didn't have to ask for extension but a friend told me he is strict about deadlines. He sends reminders of all major deadlines.
Seems like most of the comments are fake .. this professor by far is the worst Ive had in my life... very unforgiving and not understanding at all .. test are ridiculous almost impossible to get 100%..? His lectures, hes talking at 1000 words a second .. do yourself a favor and avoid this instructor ..?you have been warned .
I did not meet Professor Kassa as I had him online. What I can say is that the syllabus is straight to the point. His exams and quizzes would not be challenging if the matching was not as randomized as it was. Overall, the instructions of assignments were mostly clear. Not an interesting class in my opinion but, not bad either.
I took both ECON 2301 and 2302 with Dr. Kassa. The layout of the courses is the same. 15 quizzes, 3 exams, and an essay. The first 3 chapters are the same. He is very helpful. Books were free. He has complete youtube lectures for both courses. I never missed a deadline but a friend told me he is strict about due dates He sends reminder emails
I took this course in May. This is the best class i ever taken in Richland. Dr. Kassa was very helpful. He has videos for all chapters. Class is well organized. Will take him again!!
Professor Kassa is one of my favorite professor ever! He responds to your email fast. His class is straight forward. He provides free textbook and tones of lecture videos. You learn a lot and pass his class.
Clear course expectations. 15 homework and 3 exams. It seems like the exams get harder but if you study the book and watch his videos you should be fine. The layout of the course was easy to follow. I recommend Dr. Kassa!
I regret taking this class. A quiz due EVERY Sunday of each week. Pro-long videos of him that have nothing to do with the quiz. ! You have 2x to take his quiz & he switches them up each time. You have 10 crossword to match the definition that is not easy as it seems. Doesn't respond to emails. No extra credit!DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!
I loved this course! The layout is easy to navigate. professor provides a lot of resources to help you. He has videos and responds to emails quickly. I am glad I took Dr. Kassa!
I took this course in 8 week format. There are 15 quizzes and 3 exams. He's strict about due dates but sends out a lot of reminders. I enjoyed the course a lot! I wish I took micro with him
HARDEST CLASS I EVER TOOK. HAD TO WITHDRAWAL. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT GOING TO THE INTERNET FOR HELP! CROSSWORD ON QUIZZES WERE VERY DIFFICULT. NOT A NORMAL CROSS WORD AND LESS QUESTIONS ON QUIZ. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
I liked this professor. He has 15 quizzes and 3 exams. The exams are fair. If you read thebook and watch his videos, you should well in them. Although he seems strict, i am sure he curved my grade by like 2 points. you will find some of the answers online but it wont be enough to do well. I recommend mr kassas
I took macro with another professor and mico with Dr. Kassa. I wish I had taken macro with him. He uses free textbooks and has many videos. he responded to my emails quickly. The crossword questions in the tests were difficult at first but i started to really like them once he explained how to answer them. I recommend dr kassa!
The course is well organized. He is always available. I definitely had to work for my grade but I enjoyed everything.
I am glad I took this course with Dr Kassa. I registered for eight week class and I was stressed about taking an economics class but he made it very enjoyable. You have to watch his videos and read the book to get A or B. He posts messages and sends emails frequently.
Professor Kassa was easy to understand and his video lectures helped out a bunch! I definitely recommend taking his classes. Grades are submitted immediately after any work is done and he responds quickly to emails.
Professor Kassa is awesome. I loved the layout of the course. The matching questions were a bit challenging but I was able to pull off an A in the end.
Professor Kassa is very passionate when teaching economics. However, his pronunciation is hard to understand. Professor Kassa's heavy accent made note-taking difficult, and his repetitive use of words confused me even more. No matter how many times; I reviewed his videos, it only frustrated me more. Choose your class wisely if you work full-time.
Awesome class and professor, I appreciated the videos he personally recorded for the course. He organized the course in 3 groups and allowed flexibility within each group which helped tremendously in managing my time. I wish he gave out the correct answers for missed questions but he gives complete explanation if asked through email.
This was a challenging class, in my opinion, so make sure you have time to study the material. There are 6 quizzes for each unit & there are 3 units. After every unit, there is a unit test. The unit tests are the most important; you need to thoroughly know the material to excel in them. The test covers the video lectures provided & the textbook!
There are many 30 min videos you have to watch per chapter. The matching on quizzes won't show you if you got it right or wrong so you don't know if you really know what you been studying. You can study it the way it's in the book, but he will give you questions backwards come time for the quiz. If you can find another teacher i suggest you do so.
I liked this course and professor. I was a little bit confused with the matching portion of the assignments at the beginning but after he explained it to me i found it more interesting. The chapter tests are useful as practice.
does not provide extra credit, and the "quiz" assignments make up 15% of your grade whilst 3 exams make up the 85%. The assignments are not provided by the professor and not textbook either, rather he copied and pasted the questions from somebody else. furthermore, he takes 2-3 days to responds; unreliable. highly recommend another professor.
does not provide extra credit, fair warning. 85% is 3 exams of overall grade whilst 15% is quiz grades. takes 2-3 days to reply to email, this is critical especially if your on 8 week terms. all quiz questions and exams are copied and pasted from other original work; its not based of the book provided in the class. i highly recommend another prof.
imo the negative comments look like written by same person mad about extra credit they had to post multiple comments and upvote their own post. I loved the layout of the class. Prof kassa responded to my emails within hours he divided the course in 3 firm deadlines which allowed me to take care of work and school without much stress.
I highly recommend taking another professor because test grades are heavy.
The requirements are clear 15 chapter test and 3 exams after every 5 chapters. He gives you 2 chances on the chapter tests. The dates for the chapters tests are flexible but you will have to turn in all the tests with the exams. I had great time in the course. Now taking him for macro 8 week.
i am doing you a favor by writing and taking this professors, do not take a course with kassa. takes awhile to respond to emails, the way the grading percentage is ridiculous as well. there are 3 exams that account for more than 80 percent of your overall grade. homework are quizzes that has a matching criteria that has nothing to do with book.
Part 1 since theres a word limit. This professor may have been the hardest professor I've taken an online class with. some say his accent Is hard to understand but it really isn't. Around 15 hours of lectures in videos and there is also the textbook that needs to be read. Around 1 quiz every 2 days so there are 20 total quizzes with 2 attempts each
Part 2 since there's a word limit. I would highly advise taking another professor and making sure many students gave good reviews and that the professor is pretty popular so to say. There are three exams and around 7 quizzes between each one and all quizzes are due to the relative exam due so either do them all early or in their respected time. gl
I took 2301 with Professor Kassa during the 8 week. since his class was full I am taking 2302 with another professor. He is by far the best professor. He has a ton of videos to help you learn. You don't have to watch all of them if you are clear with the chapters. I wish every professor did that!!
This professor's explanations are confusing and overly complicated. They make simple economic principles sound like rocket science, not suggested at all. gives 0 extra credit
I took Professor Kassa on campus at Cedar Valley. I enjoyed his lectures, His video lectures were amazing!! He gave extra credit worth 40 or 50 points.
Pros: Responds quickly to emails. Lectures are easy to understand. Cons: tests account for a huge % of your grade, questions are poorly worded, the matching section of the quizzes is intentionally obtuse, and correct answers to missed items on quizzes aren't provided. If you're a read the chapter, ace the quiz type - choose a different professor.
The exams are from the text and the videos. I also found the matching questions difficult at first but after watching his video explaining how to answer those questions, it got much easier. I also suggest using the Key Terms at the end of each chapter.
An absolute disaster of a class with such poor communication. You get 2 attempts on every quiz and one attempt on the final exam for each chapter. The flex semester only has about 4 chapters so get ready for a lot of reading, taking notes, and quizzes.
15 chapter quizzes and 3 exams. The quizzes are due with the exams. the course layout is great and i liked the schedule.
I had a great time in Dr. Kassa's class. I am glad I took him!
I took both micro and macro with Dr. Kassa. The lay out of the courses is the same. the first 3 or 4 chapters are 100% the same too. Micro is a bit harder. I would take him again!
Making A is doable. but you need to read the book and watch the videos. I loved the videos! He answers to your emails quickly.
I am an international student i had to go.home due to emergency during exam week. There was 10 hours time difference and he kindly helped me.out. Take Dr Kassa!
This class has been the only one I've come close to failing. Taking micro over the summer, his responses were prompt but minimally helpful. The readings are confusing with broad descriptions, saying an oligopoly is "a bag full of cats." With three exams worth 84% of your grade + no extra credit, fixing a grade after a minor slip-up is impossible.
Great!
Mathewos Kassa's ECON2302 class is challenging but doable with dedicated effort. The textbook and video lectures are helpful, while tools like unstuck AI can supplement study prep. Be ready for tests to carry significant weight, but Kassa is responsive to emails.
great person, you can tell he loves to teach. awesome guy
The textbook is not required to read but it helps A LOT especially because some of the lectures don't include some content that will be in the quizzes after each chapter. Plenty of extra credit opportunities, and 3 exams total. Easy class if you follow the pacing course schedule but it's a bit time consuming if you take it during a May semester.
A wonderful professor!
Graded only by quizzes and tests, not great if you're brand-new to economics. I would have rather had a series of assignments that helped me learn economics than just quizzes and tests. It also helps with getting a better grade. This is textbook and lecture-heavy; you have to learn and teach yourself. The tests are long, so be prepared..
no extra credit he is passionate!
This course is very well structured. You have 15 chapter tests and 3 exams. A lot of opportunity for extra credit. The credits are not easy give away. You have to work for them. The extra credit helped my grade from C+ to B
This was one of the best classes I have taken. There is a ton of opportunity for extra credit. he has videos for all chapters that you need to watch and complete quizzes on the videos to get the extra points. The exams are not easy but doable if you study. Take notes while watching the videos. I plan to take micro with Dr. Kassa!
