PROF. JENNINGS IS AN AWESOME TEACHER. HE IS SO KNOWLEDGEABLE AND KNOWS ALL THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT HISTORY. I REALLY ENJOYED HIS CLASS!
Dr. Jennings required five book reviews for his Jackson class but in doing so you learn a great deal on the time period. This allows you to look at a book crittically and to be able to discuss the information. The book he subscribed were not expensive and I really enjoyed his class
Great!!
Very good teacher, allows questions even stupid ones from people straight out of high school, you can tell he is annoyed but still does his best to give an answer. Tests are cake, he believes in seeing what you have learned, not trying to trick you into giving the wrong answer. Very interesting material, basically allows you to dictate alot of what
Tests are cake, he believes in seeing what you have learned, not trying to trick you into giving the wrong answer. Very interesting material, basically allows you to dictate alot of what teaches by asking your interests at the begining of the semester and hitting those points throughout.
professor jennings is awesome, and he has made history great!!!!!!
The best teacher i have had at Macon State so far. He is very passionate History and inturn makes me very interested in his lectures. He makes it very fun and forms lectures around what class is interested in. He truely values his students opinions and teaches in a more nonconformed way. Highly recommend...
Dr. Jennings is an amazing professor. He was extremely helpful and made history very interesting. His tests are hard, but if you study and read all the books you will do well.
Has to be with out a doubt, the best history teacher i have ever had. As long as you take notes and study the review you can get an easy B. He has been the only one to make history half way interesting, I would take any class he was teaching.
very student oriented, no textbook, powerpoint lectures, great sense of humor, willing to help/answer questions
He is great with extra credit. Teaches with power point. No textbook but you have to read 3 novels. It was a very interesting class. He's a great teacher, student oriented, and he does have a great sense of humor. He also tries to be very flexible.
Very fun professor! Makes history interesting. Doesn't take attendance, but his notes are important for the test so it is definitely recommended. Plus, with all the fun you have in his class, there's no reason not to come. Would definitely take him again. Just an awesome guy.
He is an awesome teacher! He makes history so fun and interesting. I recommend everybody take his class. Jennings is never boring either, I actually enjoy going to his class, he's good looking to which is a plus.
The best teacher i have had so far! Very helpful and knowledgeable, willing to help students out.
Simply put---none better. Take notes and enjoy the lectures. Particiapte in class and a A is yours.
YAY!! no textbook..Not. the 3 novels he makes you read are terrible.. but the lecture responses are easy
Wow... this is the sort of professor that makes an impact on your future. He has an unbiased manner in delivering history based on facts. He is considerate to the sensitive areas of American History, but clear in explanation. There is none other like Dr. Jennings. Highly recommend his class, as he is a true asset to MSC. Prepare to read & learn.
AWESOME prof. He is extremely fair, and knows his american history. you can tell he loves what he does, and is enthusiastic about the subject, so he makes you really want to do well in his class. The 3 books you have to read are incredibly boring, but they do help in understanding the time that the class is studying. The tests and essays are easy.
I'm sure he gets this alot but he was amazing. No tests on his lectures. We read three books and had quizzes easy as pie. 4 journals, a paper, and a history site. His lectures are awesome. I was never really a fan of us history until i took this class. A truely awesome professor.
Great Teacher. He'll make you write a good bit but he grades with leverage. Very passionate about what he teaches! Absolutely Recommend.
Phenomenal professor, fair, clear and intriguing. An asset to MSC. His lectures are interesting and beneficial. Be ready to read, and write.
Great Professor. Very helpful and great sense of humor.
nice guy but does not teach from a text book, three long books to read and quizzes for them he lectures but all of it is irrelevant to quizzes, no test only 4 journals short essay questions. overall it was okay i guess
He is the best professor I've ever had. He actually made me like History. I hated it before now. I am a biology major with minors in math, chem and spanish. He is a really good teacher!
Dr. Jennings is awesome! He's one of the best Hist Prof. @ MSC. He's very helpful and offers a lot of credit for his course. His class isn't hard at all. I made an A, after returning after 20 years! He doesn't require a txtbk, but does require 3 readers for Hist. 2111. Class participation is a MUST-Knowing you by name helps. Now go get your A!
A great teacher. His class is easy because there are only a few essays and three quizzes. He enjoys the subject and makes history interesting by giving a new perspective on previous learned ideas.
Dr. Jennings' class was enjoyable. He doesn't require a traditional textbook, but instead three (really, really boring) short novels. There is no mid-term and no final, there are just three short book quizzes and a few short essays. All in all, I enjoyed the class.
GREAT PROFESSOR U MUST TAKE HIM, he is very helpful, NO Text BOOK, few short essays, very cool person, i love his style, somedays i was sleepy coz of the lecture, but i still took good notes, 1 historical site visit. JUST TAKE HIM U WANT REGRET IT.
GREAT PROFESSOR and good 2 luck at easy class, 3 essays, 3 quizzes, 1 historical site visit
Great Class, Subject extremly interesting. Jennings is a very humble intellegent indivisual. Was admazed at his courage to display the truth about the foundings of our Nation.
He was okay. I just did not like reading those three books that he wanted me to read because I am not a person that likes to read. All you have to do is read the books that he assigns you to read and pass the quizzes. Also pay attention during his lectures you can learn something.
fantastic instructor. His knowledge of history and the socialogical causes behind it is fantastic. the books he assigns for reading are vital for understanding the concepts he teaches.
He is a great teacher and he knows alot about history. He makes history interesting and gives you alot of interesting facts that alot of teachers will not discuss. He even comes into class with overalls on and a guitar and sings in class. I love him. The class is easy and fun. TAKE IT .
This guy is great he gives extra credit opportunities several time throughout the semester. and he really knows what he is talking about and makes it really fun...not to sound like a nerd....but yes I even saw him dress up in overalls and he sang to the class...although you know he wasn?t bad at that either. He is outstanding you have to take him
Excellent teacher. I had him for "Americna Abolitionism" and he was fair and well versed in the material. He does not tolerate neo-confederate stances in class, and makes a point to show how the legacy of slavery still exists. A truly gifted professor who gives large reading assignments, but hey this is college, not high school.
His beard is EPIC! Passionate about history, and extremely helpful. Treats students in a respectful manner. Intelligent yet humble. The Perfect Professor.
So far, he is the best teacher I have had. I had him for 1101 and 1102. Highly recommended!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED If history is not your thing, Dr. Jennings might just change that. If history is your thing, you will have found quite the kindred spirit. Unorthodox and highly effective teaching methods. This is a class you will not regret.
Excellent Professor! He lectures every class and does not use a book but I loved it! I have never been interested in history before but he is so passionate about it that I have started liking the subject. Read the books, not the cliffnotes, to pass his tests. He asks specific questions.
Just finished up Atlantic World with Dr. Jennings, and as usual he was brilliant. I always become a better writer after taking his classes.
History comes alive in his class. Participation is important. Pay attention and paticipate and you will do well. No standard textbook, lots of reading of Novels, but interesting. Written papers will be required. This is the best professor I have ever had.
Awesome Professor! Easy class if you put some effort into it! Impossible to fail this class. 3 novels are required to be read along with a quiz for each book. No chapter test. Best class ever!
I am a full blown history major and Dr. Jennings simply did not rise to the occassion. The class was easy, but confusing. It was too broad in some areas, and too detailed in others.
Dr. Jennings is an intellectual historian. People who see history in black and white wont get it. A brilliant professor who challenges brilliant students. As an upper level History major, I find his classes to be excellent, and my writing skills improve whenever I take his classes.
Dr. Jennings is a GREAT professor! He only takes attendance on the first day, so if you don't show up for class then he'll never know. But i would highly suggest you do go. Most of your notes (and you will want to take notes) come from the lecture not powerpoints. And you MUST READ ALL OF THE BOOKS HE ASSIGNS!!! OR YOU WILL NOT PASS THE CLASS!!
Professor Jennings was awesome! I would recommend going to class since you do get a participation grade but he is extremely easy. Just read the novels and write a few good papers and you are set in that class. :3 He's really enthusiastic he even dressed up one day for us and played an old irish song on his guitar. Great professor!
Dr. Jennings is one of the best professors at MSC. He doesn't stress students out with exams, yet you will learn more in his class than any other class. He is very caring and wants his students to learn and succeed. He always assigns great books. Great professor!
Easy/fun class. Loved that it wasn't structured along the same textbooks everyone else uses.
WOW! I think his looks affected my grade in his class. I was so busy thinking about how hot he was that I could not pay attention in class... Anyway this class is EASY, come to class, read, pay attention and it is an easy A. Great teacher and he does not give hard work at all.
Awesome class and teacher! Super easy! Just pay attention to the novels he assigns and the one term essay. He obviously enjoys what he teaches and it shows. He is energetic and shows all sides of history with random facts mixed in. I would completely recommend him to anyone.
Top notch. Without a doubt one of the best teachers MSC has.
I'm an English major all the way, but after taking his class, I thought about switching to history or minoring in history. He is literally the BEST professor I've ever had. He is so passionate about teaching. You will learn so much in his class, especially crazy, random facts about history. I STRONGLY recommend!!!
Dr. Jennings is a good professor. No tests. Only assignments are a 6-8 pg term paper, read 3 books and take 3 quizzes over them, a map quiz (easy A), 2 journals, and historic site visit. He goes over powerpoints during lecture. He isn't tough, but the 3 books were incredible boring and term paper is a pain! Be ready to do work. No attendance taken!
Mr. Jennings is TOP NOTCH! He is everything a teacher should be and more. No textbook for his class! He is very enthusiastic about history and is ready to help his students at any time. There is no way that you can't pass his class. And he does not take attendance! I STRONGLY recommend him!!
Jennings is the best professor I have ever had.Enthusiastic about the subject he teaches. he doesn't take attendance but you will enjoy the class so much you will want to come anyways and coming helps in your participation grade. He is absolutely hilarious as well as extremely good looking and very fair and helpful with his students.TAKE HIS CLASS!
Dr. Jennings is amazing. He is very helpful and the class is easy as long as you put in the work. No textbook just three small books with a reading quiz for each. 2 history journals a historic site visit. The term paper is about 6 pages and is very open. You can make it whatever you want. I recommend Dr Jennings to anyone.
Interesting. Gives you three books to read with a quiz on each. Instead of a final, you have to write a term paper. The only other test is a map quiz at the end. Loved this class!!
Great professor! NO TESTS! You have 3 reading quizzes, 2 journals, and a term paper that you have the whole semester to do over any topic you want. You can turn the paper in early for him to revise it, and give you feedback. This class is interesting and a guaranteed A if you read the material and try.
If you have the chance to take this professor- do. He is great. He plays music at the beginning of every class and will even bring his guitar and sing one day. NO TESTS! NO FINAL EXAM! NO TEXTBOOK! You have 3 short books to read that are not bad reads and you have a quiz. Not bad at all. I will take him again. You can miss up to 4 classes.
He is great. Three good novels to read with a quiz over each, one paper, a map quiz, some journals, and a site visit. No textbook and no exams. He spreads grading out, so if you don't do so hot on one assignment it won't ruin your grade. Participation matters in his class. He's funny and extremely smart and articulate. Take him!
Really did not see what the big hype is about him. He expects you to participate and the books were not all that interesting. His class was all lecture and the lecture did not aid with anything in the class. Should have spent more time discussing the books. Piles all you assignments on the same due date at the end of the semester.
Lectures are long and you're never quizzed over the material, so it was sort of pointless. I did not learn one single thing in this class. He requires you to read three long, dis-interesting books then gives you a quiz, which is unfair because he asks small details. He will never give you a 100 and has no rubrics for his grading. Don't take.
Dr. Jenning's class is one of the most enriching history classes I've ever taken, I'd definitely recommend him. NO exams, 3 short book quizzes, 2 short essays, historical site visit, and participation are graded. Quiz questions can be super specific, so take detailed notes on the books and REALLY think about the material and you'll do good.
Dr. Jennings main area of focus is Native Americans. He does an amazing job at tell you the history of Early and Modern Native America. The class is required to write 2 book reviews, a further reading paper, and research paper, but it is an upper level history class, so you should already be doing this kind of stuff! He does give extra credit.
He is fantastic teacher. I would take him again and again.
He Literally makes history interesting !! Great professor , highly recommend him.
Doctor Jennings does a wonderful job. Just finished the semester. No textbook, 3 assigned books that had a short quiz on each. You have to read the books to pass quizzes, but they weren't bad. 1500 word essay at end of semester. Two 500 word essays about what's discussed in class but everything is more than doable! Our whole class loved him.
Took 2112 with him he is a great professor. I hated history before I took this class he really gave me a different outlook on history. His gives lots of lectures but they are not boring, you will have to do a couple of history journals but they are pretty easy. I would defiantly take is class again.
Awesome teacher, really enjoyed the class. There were no tests, just three reading quizzes and two journal assignments. Slightly disproportionate focus on minorities but it is good to learn new things.
Dr. Jennings is great! Took him awhile back for HIST2112 and it was awesome. You have 3 books to read and quizzes/tests on each, a big term paper that's due at the end but he has you turn things in in pieces so it's not as daunting. He's really cool and gets passionate about the Civil War stuff and Native Americans. Just work hard and read!!!
Great teacher!! We read three great books in his class, and had a quiz over each. He reviews the books right before the quiz. Great lectures! Loves when you get involved. I would take him again.
He's an amazing teacher!
Prof. Jennings is great. Whenever I e-mail him questions he always answers my questions no matter how long or difficult they are. He will help you with literally anything. One term paper at the end of the semester and that's the final. He lets you start it in segments which is nice so you have a base to start with. Such a great professor!
Jennings is one of the best professors at MGA. He is clear about what is due and when its due. No tests. Just 3 book quizzes. Your grade consists of those three quizzes, a couple journal entrees, a map quiz and a paper (on your choice topic) at the end of the term. 100% would take him again. And he offers extra credit which is rare for college.
Professor Jennings was the best history professor ever. Make sure to know your history and be ready to read. Anyway, Prof. Jennings is simply a great professor.
Professor Jennings is extremely passionate about history. He teaches the history that we all should know and should have learned in grade school, but sadly most of that history is diluted. I came into the class thinking I knew most, yet I learned something every single class period. He's funny, talented, and tells history like it. A true historian
Dr. Jennings was a very funny and approachable professor, allowing a lot of room in grading and learning what you wish to learn. I wish history majors made more money for I would take one of his classes every semester if I could. Best professor I've had yet.
THIS WAS MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR ALL SEMESTER!!! He is amazing and very active and he cares about your grades. Coming to class is only half the work but if you participate and read the books that are assigned you will do great. He had no final just an essay that you get to choose your topic on. Would definitely take again!
He was an excellent professor. Participation is vital in his class. The essays and journals are quite comfortable. The readings are essential. A fun class overall.
Great professor, great class.
Very easy class. Participation does help your grade. The lecture is never dull and he's very helpful outside of classes. You not regret taking his class.
He's so nice! he can get boring at times but he so passionate about history. He will answer any questions and he doesn't ask too much of you. I would 100% take him again for anything.
I usually don't like history, but this professor made me hate it a little less. There are no tests, but 3 quizzes over 3 books that you will have to read. There was also 2 journals and a term paper that you have to write. Overall, the class is not too bad, just do the work and participate here and there and you should be fine.
I took American history post 1865 and I got an A in the class. There are no tests but there are 3 lengthy books you have to read and take quizzes on, a map quiz, a 6-8 page research paper, a historic site visit, and 2 journals. But thats all the work for the entire semester. He is a super nice and understanding guy but is a tough grader
Professor Jennings is one of the best professors at MGA. His class is lecture heavy and participation MATTERS. That alone is worth 20 points. My favorite thing about his class is the point system. Youll have three book quizzes but they are only worth 10 points so it will not make or break your grade. Overall, he makes history very interesting.
Papers and selected readings were majority of the class, made class interesting started every class with a historical song relating to the lecture, literally wrote several books on some of the topics, very enjoyable class not unnecessarily difficult, included opportunities for extra credit
Professor Jennings is an amazing professor. I never thought I would be able to learn so much from a professor. He is caring, funny, and very interesting. He grades by few things, but if you ask for help then he will help you. Professor Jennings is passionate and all of his courses are recommended.
He is very passionate about history and he keeps you intrigued during class. 3 book reports, a term paper and 2 journals were pretty much all he graded other than participating in simple discussions. We had freedom on the discussion forums to talk about anything wed like relating to the material, so that was awesome. Very cool class and teacher
This is the professor to take if you do not enjoy long and stressful tests! If you prefer to write a lot instead, definitely sign up for the class! There is no final and you get to write about a historical site visit if you like traveling. Simply show your interest in history and he goes into detail vocally so dont miss what he says!
3 book reports on small books, 2 history journals and 1 term paper. Thats all you do. Very easy material and he is very prepared and knowledgeable in history. He loves what he does and it shows. Hes passionate about history and lets the class discuss whatever material we feel most interesting. He is excellent.
He is passionate about History and it shows. I am a big fan of his eclectic personality and the great energy he brings into a classroom. He offers guidance on assignments and helps students who aren't great at history become better. He loves what he does. As long as you show up and show your effort you will likely pass.
Dr. Jennings makes history come alive and even brings in historical items for students to look at that relate to what he is lecturing on.
Professor Jennings is such a good teacher that I've already signed up to take him next semester. The class is easy, there are no tests or quizzes. You have to read three books (they can range from extremely boring to a great read), write several short papers for the class, and write one term paper that is ~1,500 words long. His lectures are great!
I enjoyed Prof. Jennings class, especially considering I never really cared for History. The only warning I have is that if you're not too keen on reading, then you might want to reconsider, but he is VERY easy going. 3 book reports, 2 history journals, site visit, term paper, and showing up. His lectures were great.
Jennings is by far the best professor I have taken. His lectures are informative and he loves class participation. You will have to READ in this class. There are no tests or exams. You will be assigned books and will have to write roughly 2 pages for them. And there is a 10-page final paper, but it is of the topic of your choice!
He is amazing. Super super easy, sympathetic and love what he is doing. you won't be regret. I promise
He is awesome. Incredible lectures. He loves to hear feedback from the class. Mr. Matt brings in many replicas of different things to help bring a more understanding of the topic. He is very caring especially about your well-being. He doesn't push assignments, instead he tells you to finish it when you can. He is great.
Jennings has been my favorite professor I've ever had. I hate history, and he made it soooo interesting! One of the nicest guys I've ever met, so funny. Truly, truly, cares about his students. He even showed interest in my brother's photography enough to support him. I LOVE PROFESSOR JENNINGS!
LOVED this class, really interesting class and i actually learned something new
He's clearly very passionate about what he teaches, but I dreaded going to this class every week. Lectures that seemed to last forever and most of it you didn't need for assigned work. No homework, but a lot of writing to do for this class. However, he was very sweet and understanding when it came to absences or late work. Great entry class.
there's a lot of reading and papers in this class. He doesn't give exams so if you aren't good at testing then this is the class for you. the slides are mostly pictures and very few words, so you have to pay attention in class. he's a good professor and lenient on due dates with that being said its easy to get behind.
Take this professor!! He is absolutely amazing! He really cares about his students and wants them to get a good grade! If you're struggling he will help you and walk you through whatever you need and even offer extra credit! He will drop your lowest quiz grade and there are no tests only a final essay but it's not that difficult! Best professor!!
he's a cool professor 10/10
