class sucks does not teach might as well learn on your own. Suppost to be beginer class doesn't seem like it

Sucks. Really bad class, and if your not a certified programmer coming into this class your screwed. He thinks you know everything already.

Poor teacher

Thinking I could handle his class after my prior experience, I have come to realize that choosing to take Kindy was the largest mistake of my college career thus far. Take another teacher for this, and if you can't at the time; take another class instead and get 115 when you can get Liron.

I took the honors section, and I've heard he's better in the regular sections, but he told us that we didn't have to show up for class because he wouldn't be teaching. His lectures were almost non-existent, he would give us a list of things to study for and then test on everything not on the list, and the online materials were almost useless.

Professor gave simplistic homework, but gave impossible tests that had stupid logic. The class was on MATLAB however he assigned a group project on old programming languages that no one previously knew with about two weeks left of school. TERRIBLE PROFESSOR!!

The Absolute worst teacher ever. He doesnt ever teach the class. Just gives us homework. DO NOT TAKE HIM

Unclear about what he wants and tests are hard. Knowing the material won't help you pass unfortunately and the lectures are a snore. I highly reccomend you take a different professor.

I am in the honors program. He was the only professor available for honors egr115, so I had to take his section. He "teaches" the class like a hybrid class, despite it' not being a hybrid class. When I say "teach", I mean he gives us an assignment every class, we learn the required material from the internet, then we turn in the assignment.

He is absolutely terrible. It's almost like he is trolling us every single day. He teaches his class like a hybrid class. It isn't a hybrid class, it's an honors class. There was no teaching involved in his class. He would give us a daily assignment, we would look up how to do it on the internet, and we would turn it in. Avoid him at all cost.

For a freshman class this is extremely hard, especially since most of the people in the class have no programming experience. He doesn't lecture at all and he tries to treat this as a hybrid course which according to the University it isn't. I took this class over the summer and he would give us assignments everyday (including Saturday and Sunday)

Honestly the worst professor i have taken. If you do not already have knowledge of programming then you will have to learn on your own because very little is actually taught in class.

First "B" in my life... Ruined my GPA . I worked too hard for this class for him to give me a B... Lots of help from him in early morning. 6:00 am. Also, I actually learned.

This sorry teacher teaches the bare minimum in class ad leaves you to figure the majority of the coding. There are one or two assignments due everyday. In the beginning it was fine but as the semester progress the more you had to figure out on your own and 30 minutes assignments turned into 5-6 hours. Only to not finish them or fail them.

Don't even try to take him. He does something every year to mess with the students grades including a zero or possibly negative curve on your final grade. Not to mention, the Academic Integrity Letter the Dean of Engineering has to lift for almost every kid in the class.

This was the HARDEST programming class I have ever taken. Coding is not too difficult, but the math is ridiculous & he will take off points for every single detail missed. Most of the learning is done out of class. Prepare to do homework every night. Group project was fun, but written in a different coding language than what is learned; seriously?

Professor Kindy is a very tough grader. He does not curve and students have homework every single night (SMTWTFS). His exams are hard and does not give opportunities for students to do well.

This class is quite possibly the hardest class I have ever taken. The class is treated as if everyone has a background in programming and that everyone is going to become a programmer. Assignments are due every other day and can take upwards of six hours to complete and you will still get an F on them. You learn a lot, but I would not recommend.

I'm a parent with 30+ years in the I/T world. what i heard from my child regarding this profesor was unreal. this is suppose to be an intro class to programming. however h expects you to know matlab. he focuses on problem solving heavy on math. more than half his class fails the test or quizzes. the final project to be done in another pgm language

Grades super tough on the exams for which he doesnt give any clue as to what the grading rubric looks like. Average grade on exams for the whole class was 25%.

I did not know that human beings could be this heartless. Don't get fooled by his name, he is anything but kind. He is the harshest grader you will ever encounter. Everyone in my class failed so instead of letting that happen and getting fired he gave everyone a curve of 22-26 points which for some lucky individuals brought up their grades to C's.

Professor Kindy is not a bad person, he is nice when you approach him, but he gives little to no feedback on things that matter such as tests or preliminary final project papers, and if you state your case he will just shut you down. He doesn't teach much at all in class nor does he help with homework.

Kindy is a nice person, however a not so nice grader. Kindy grades very harshly, especially on tests. Which are 75% of your grade. Just hope that your things are graded by tutors or assistants. An insane amount of homework and very little is taught in class. This entire course is basically self-taught. It is a frustrating class to work through.

Very difficult class. Tests and final project are your whole grade. Hours of work programming things you barely every covered in class. Need to know a friend who is good at programming who can pretty much do your programs for you.

It's his way or the highway and if you go above and beyond you get penalized for it.

Kindy is not a great teacher in lecture. If you go to his office hours, he's more than happy to help, but you won't learn much of anything during the lectures. He also grades VERY harshly. He fails a lot of people on purpose because you "lean better the second time you take it".

Unless you absolutely have to take this course for your degree, DO NOT take this course with Kindy. I could've taken BA120 for my degree, however I thought this class seemed interesting. He is an extremely tough grader and he doesn't lecture very well. You're basically left with teaching yourself the course online to complete the assignments.

Kindy is not a good professor. I have asked him for help so many times yet when I follow his exact instructions, I still get a failing grade. I went to tutoring sessions in order to do this class and after I finish the program developed during tutoring, I still fail. I would not recommend taking this course with Kindy as your professor.

Kindy is a nice person.... when you talk to him during his office hours. His lectures are extremely unhelpful and he does not teach you anything. Get ready to teach yourself how to use MatLab because he will not teach you.

Professor kindy goes over topics very quickly in a lecture style, so if you do not have a background in computer programming taking his class will be difficult. His office hours are in the middle of the day and therefore hard to use because of other classes. He assigns many big projects that count for a lot. Will not accept most things late.

I have never had to drop a class in my whole life until Kindy showed up. Now I have to drop his class because I have gotten a consistent 30% on every assignment no matter how hard I try and rather the program does what he wants or not. I do not recommend anyone take his class.

Professor Kindy does not teach. Almost my entire class was in tutoring daily. He will not answer your questions or emails, so this made learning with covid restrictions increasingly hard. I was lucky to get a C, but I had to work endlessly teaching myself. The tutoring center and TAs are the only way to learn. Turn work in on time, no exceptions!

bruh he is so awful and WILL accuse you of plagiarizing. bro its code, there's only so many ways you can make the code do what you want. Also the tests are absolutely horrible. There's no final exam or project and honestly that is the only good thing about the course.

In all honesty, Matthew Kindy is one of the worst teachers I have ever had the displeasure of being taught by. HE SIMPLY DOES NOT TEACH. If you have not coded before or are inexperienced, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. He is also an extremely picky grader who is almost impossible to reach outside class because of his apparent inability to answer emails.

Kindy is the WORST!!!! He recommends 10hrs a week for studying. I spent about 20 hrs a week studying for just his class. If you know nothing about coding, you are bound to have your entire semester destroyed by his class. He will accuse you of over sharing when working on assignments with your in class partner. Also A^2 cant help for his class.

Don't bother going to office hours, he doesn't actually teach anything in class so every section has to attend. And don't bother going to A squared because at best you'll get a D. The only way to pass this class is to find someone who already passed his class. And his homework takes 5 hours. And his grading criteria seems to be whatever he wants.

I put in a boat load of effort, tried harder than i ever have in any other class, but it didnt matter. his assignments were irreproachable. Impossible without the tutors. if you have the choice, heck even if you dont have a choice, take an elective, sign up next semester, just dont take kindy. he is a nice man but you wont learn anything.

Kindy knows his material extremely well, but cannot teach, at all. His workload for a 3 credit class was more than my other 12 credits combined. A^2 can barely help because of the way he writes assignments, and his office hours are always packed. With grading, hell grade certain assignments, and you can request a regrade and will Improve randoml

Prof. Kindy knows his stuff but doesn't know how to deliver material to students. Whenever a question would be asked, he would ask a question back. I ended up getting so lost in this class I decided to audit the class and take it again with a different professor. I would NOT recommend taking his class if you have never done code or Matlab before.

Do not take this class. I didn't believe the reviews and paid the price. He is difficult and does not care how well you do and does not want to help you. 11:59 is marked late in this class and nothing is accepted after that ever. The Graders will give you 20% on fully completed assignments that 1 small error was made on. Lots of homework everynight

I recall one thing this professor said. "My students have come back to thank me so many times" I cannot recall how a single student would ever thank this man. He not only taught really really bad coding skills, which not only took out the fun of coding, but also made it impossible to get good grades while enjoying it. Grading criteria stinky.
