Avoid him like the plague. He constantly spazzes out and tries to make a fool out of students. Forget about going to his office hours because you will walk out feeling worthless. Not nice at all. There are many great and helpful math professors at CRC and Nelsenador is not one of them.
Very bad professor. I was absolutely afraid of approaching him. For the whole semester, I just relied on another CRC professor, Mark Hunter for help. Nelsenador is so bad that I'm purposely waiting for Hunter to teach Calculus again instead of taking it with Nelsenador. Advice for Nelsenador: Try and be nice for a change. It really helps.
terrible. everyone dropped like flies.
I went and put in a complaint at the math dept. Lets hope this will get him to realize that he needs to change. Who's with me?
I took this class over the summer and it was not very enjoyable. Not many people are still in the class. He is not a very nice person and likes to embarass his students if they are unable to understand the material. He might possibly want to work on his social skills. If there was a zero, that is what I would rate him. Hes not a very good teacher.
My biggest complaint is his tests. I find them damn near impossible. He needs to explain items better then he currently does.

he is an awful teacher
Horrible teacher, embarasses his students when they do something wrong. Never take his class. half the class dropped, and some of my frends that stuck in it barely passed or failed. He is very annoying and is just a horrible guy. I asked a simple question, i admit it was dumb, but he embarrassed me and put me on the spot
Doesn't know what he is talking about. Would work on a problem for 15 minutes and one of the students would raise their hand and point out an error, so he would go back and work from that error, only to make another error later in the same problem. Homework (approx. 5 hrs worth) due weekly, 3 or 4 exams during the course of the semester.
He is a very good teacher. If you really want to understand Math, take him. If you pay attention in class, you will do the test well because all the questions on test are based on his lesson. Sometimes he told us what questions will be on test while he is teaching. I think he is an easy, a hard teacher. he always tries to answer my questions.

he talks down to you like you're an infant. maybe it's because he has young children at home. i feel sorry for them. why does he act that way? why? because he's a very bad person. i literally cried when i stepped out of his "office." yeah, his office is basically a park bench somewhere on campus. maybe it's the dreaded Napolean Complex.
He used to teach at UC Davis and CSUS... guess they didn't like him or he just was plain bad at teaching. I passed his classes but he's THE worst teacher I've ever had. Even worse than Hamoudi who teached Chem. Don't ever take NelsenaDORK!
He is not to be a teacher. If he wants to be a teacher, he needs to make some major changes on the way he approaches the students. He knows math, but knows it to himself. Lack communication skills and this makes it hard to approach. He is rude and makes math more difficult. Advise: Teach Simple first then hard stuff. Sorry Matt...
just run away
HE TRIES TO GIVE U CLUES TO WHATS GONNA BE ON THE TEST BUT THATS A LIE! HE HAS HIS TRICK QUESTIONS THAT HE CANT EVEN SOLVE HIMSELF WHEN ASKED TO SHOW IT. WHEN A PROBLEM IS TOO DIFFICULT, HE TELLS U TO SKIP IT N "PROMISES" THAT IT WILL NOT BE ON THE TEST, WHICH IS A LIE!! THE CLASS STARTED OFF W/ BOUT 40 BUT IN THE END ONLY BOUT 10 REMAINED. BEWARE!

he is a****ty teacher!!!!!!!!!! dont take him.. or ull regret it!!!!
DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT HIM!!! IT'S A WAIST OF TIME. Normally A students were not passing this class, myself included. HE'S ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE.
This dude is crazy! I swear, he's the type of guy that gives instructors a bad name. It's a shame because I did well in his class but without any confidence. He constantly berates you and always has this scowl on his face. He would be better suited in a job that doesn't require any human interaction. Other teachers aren't too fond of him either.
worst teacher i have ever had. first time i have ever dropped a class. DO NOT TAKE THIS PERSON THAT CANNOT TEACH
worst teacher ever!
he is a very rude teacher. he unconsiously likes to embarrass students. and by the way he takes a lot of points...doesnt matter if your answer is correct but the way you solved it..he will take a lot of points...
SAY NO ON TAKING HIM!
Not even a teacher. I had to meet with the dean regarding this teacher, he failed the ENTIRE CLASS! I regret ever stepping foot in his clas.. He should not have a job!
very very hard!! please listen to me and everyone else. he is a bad, VERY BAD, professor. tests are impossible. A LOT OF HOMEWORK & only 5% of grade. NOOOOO!
He's weird lol tries to be funny. Puts you on the spot especially if he knows your not paying attention. His lectures are confusing, but he did answer and helped me a lot at his office hour. I still dropped the class tho. You basically have test to worry about. Homework and quizzes don't matter.
Avoid this professor!!!! There were 3 tests and the final. The HW and quizzes were only worth a combined total of 10% of your grade!! We started with about 45 students and ended the semester with only 14! The tests are incredibly difficult and it was very uncommon to see a passing grade on any of them. All I can say is don?t do what I did, and tak
He is a mess. His lectures are all over the place. He also has a bad attitude and acts disrespectful to any student who asks a question that he doesn't feel like answering or explaining. He will also bust you out to the whole class if you score low on a test. Just stay away from him. Trust me.
Teacher sucks cannot teach class started with 50 ppl and adding down to 20. talks in circles, leaves class randomly twice if not more idk for wat long bathroom breaks. spends alot of time answering 1 question and then rushes through the important parts of lesson. Not HELPFUL at all. Makes stupid jokes trys to be funny but its not working. And BIAS
Teacher is bias makes exceptions for some and not others. Not prepared reads from book and teaches on the spot and we all see that. not a good trig teacher unless you already know math and are super smart dont take him.
i frerakin hated him! i got a f in his class and he is very rude and got on my last nerve he definatlt tries to embarrass u and always writes rude comments on your quizzes even if u get 100 percent DONT TAKE HIM
He may not be the most outgoing teacher but he teaches really well. He knows what he's talking about and he gives good notes and examples. He only takes attendance in the beginning. It's not smart to miss class but it's also not totally mandatory. Give this teacher a chance. He might be dorky but at least he's not rude or anything.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR! Everything said about him is true. He is a grown man but acts like a teenage boy and is EXTREMELY rude while making "comments" about you, your work, and position in the class. His tests contain material way more difficult than covered in class and if you say something he will literally verbally fight you. no joke.

I showed up on time, wasn't disruptive, sat in middle-front & took notes. He constantly singled me out for nonsense. Insisted that I failed bcuz of lack of HW, which is ONLY 5% of the grade. Extremely rude & degrading. Treats his students like children; except shows favoritism to certain choice students. Still not sure his reasons?
He is very mean! questions asked in class are not answered and he makes rude comments that make you feel inferior. he writes stupid notes on your tests and quizes that are degrading. He has no set grading policy on homework, projects, or tests. he gives you a grade based upon your likeness level. officehours are usless to attend. DONT TAKE CLASS
RUN AWAY ... i Choose to get a W on my transcript rather then get an F ... i Failed two test and walked out on the third after he wrote an insulting comment on my homework.. i am a good student i passed the previous classes with and A and a B and then i was failing his which made no sense .. just dont take him .. i gave him a chance and it didnt wo
He's the worst teacher i've ever met in my life. He's the most unfair grader on tests that it's ridiculous. Does not help at all, is so egotistical and rude its crazy. Talks down on students, i just don't get why he's still has a job. If all your students are failing, stop trying to teach. Don't even consider his class. WORST TEACHER!!
I wouldn't recommend this class to my worst enemy. He is really bad. I didn't learn anything. If you still take his class...you have been warned.
Prof. Nelsenadors classes have been the worst part of my entire college career. He is more focused on discipline than helping students. He wont help you, office hour or not. He has major control issues and is flat out WEIRD! RUN AWAY!!
Hi I put my heart out in this class because math has never been a strong point of mine. He is the most useless, unhelpful, creepy jerk of a professor I have ever had. Do not take his class because unless your a pretty girl or just a favorite in general you prob will only pass with a C because he makes it impossible to do otherwise.
WORSE TEACHER EVER! THIS TEACHER FAILED MORE THAN HALF THE CLASS, INCLUDING ME. HAS HIS STUDENTS DO MORE THAN 3O PROBLEMS A NIGHT AND ONLY LOOKS AT TWO OR THREE. HARSH GRADER ON TESTS, GROUP PROJECTS AND HOMEWORK. DO NOT TAKE!
Please do not waste your time with this guy. only if your a hot chick! does not help. he does make you feel like your nothing
His class is only difficult if you don't understand the material. He does a good job of teaching the material but is not the most approachable teacher out there, for sure. The homework is tedious but helpful.
He is impractical...his homework loads and lectures don't match the tested material...if taking his math class drop asap
How did he get accepted into teaching at any institution...I would say he's not a professor and should be on a different website, like one called Rate My Waste of Time
Do not pick him! Hw is assigned but only picks 8 out of approximately 60 problems to grade and is not worth a lot of points. Not all hw material are based on the test and he grades VERY harsh! MORE than half the class dropped. Instead of dropping or failing, I prefer you do not take his class!
not even going to bother with novel-length explanation.close the tab and look for a different teacher. if theres no teacher, change your major or drop out of school. move to a different town....dont take him!
I was nervous for his class coz of his low ratings on here. But in fact, I enjoy the class a lot. He's a very approachable teacher and will help if you need any assistance. He explains stats really well and grades FAIRLY. His sense of humor is alright, but he's very friendly. IDK why he has such low ratings. But I would recommend him.
I had taken stats in hs and did very well in it. Being in his stat 300 class was very stressful. He did not connect the notes to the homework & the homework to the tests.I learned more in my hs stats class than in this college stats class. I constantly looked at my hs notes for help because his teaching was not clear at all.DONT TAKE HIS CLASS EVER
Teacher acts as if you don't know anything. Cannot teach and doesn't explain things properly.
I have NO CLUE why everyone is bashing on this teacher. I've taken stats twice before this &every teacher can't compare to this one. this is the best one I've had. Finally learning something Great Teacher :)
He is a good professor!!! He explains everything very well. I learn a lot from this professor. You just have to work hard and finish all the HW.
just don't take him. you will regret it extremely, even if you are a 4.0 student or just ok, you will regret him as your teacher
Horrible Teacher. I get a B in organic chemistry but a C in Statistics? I worked my butt off for a C and Im not a lazy student.Dont take him as a teacher you will regret it!! I know I did!!
The first 3 exams were pretty challenging, but he is relaxed on the final exam. If you do your homework and keep on top of things, you can pull a A or B easily. To get a C in this class, you only need a 65%.. which is really generous. He is also very helpful in his office hours.
This professor was very helpful students he didn't do well obviously didn't pay attention or do their homework. His tests were always based on everything he taught and he offered help during office hours. I attended office hours once and he went through the problem step by step. I definitely recommend him for calculus!
This professor doesn't have a good grasp of his subject. He spent a lot of class time looking through the book for definitions and answers. He is unfriendly during office hours and yelled at a classmate for having an incorrect answer in her notes. (He had written the wrong answer on the board)
He was the most horrible teacher. I never looked foward to his classes. He's such a bore. His test were much harder than his examples, which is not fair to the students. I would never recommend taking his class. Dont make that mistake!!
Had Trig with this professor. I gotta say, not one i enjoyed very much. Yes the three exams were a pain, but when it came to the final it was easy! If you want to average, you better be in class and office hours. Also go through the book, He used the book alot and his notes. Both the two combined made the three exams. Good Luck!
This guy is the absolute WORST professor ihave ever had in my entire life. His homework does not match up with his lectures, he is extremely unclear on what he wants on the tests, and he is highly unorganized. Pleaaaaase do not take this teacher. No one should ever have to endure the pain and agony he causes. He is absolutely abysmal.
Horrible teacher. Jumps around topics, not helpful outside of class. Have to be able to understand the subject well enough on your own to get the grade. Don't take it with him. Get someone else.
I don't understand why there is much criticism going towards this professor. Sure, he may not be a perfect instructor or explain concepts as well as it could be explained, but he's a decent teacher that will help you understand the material and do the math. I have to say though, he rides on a high horse.
A terrible teacher, if you are considering taking his class i would strongly advise against it. You will only hurt yourself. His exams are tough, he will test you on material that he addresses for 5 mins and never brings up again, and he really does not care about students or their grades. If you want to learn a subject he isn't the right teacher.
Nice man; decent teacher. You have to put in a lot of work and time if you want to do well, but that's pretty much expected. The homework isn't worth many points, but doing it will be an important factor in doing good on the tests, and ultimately on your final grade.
The only major problem I have with this class is how he creates and grades his exams. On every exam there seemed to be a few random problems, that we had went over once in class or not at all. Since there is around 15 problems on a exam, missing a few can really hurt your grade. Also the exams don't correlate well with the assigned homework.

A lot of these reviews are exaggerated, he isn't that bad in-class. He is, however, a nitpicky grader. He marks you off on homework and exams for trivial mistakes, even if the answer is technically correct. Don't bother disputing your grade with him, because even if he admits that you're right, he won't change the grade he's already given you.
Do not take this professor. Within 2 months everyone in my class had dropped out. THe teaching methods do not match the book and he is very picky. Even though it's a math class he expects you to always have correct grammer. One apostrophe off and he will deduct you points.
He's hard, memorize definitions, and just ask all questions.
Absolute worst professor I've ever had. The average test score on every test was below 60! He is always right even if the whole class says he is not. Has you do essays but when you ask for help he says ask your english teacher. Most picky grader ever one word missing minus two points, impossible to get an A. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Professor Nelsenador is very helpful when you ask questions. It can be stressful but ask questions and work with your classmates. He cleverly does activities to help you with the topic. The tests are based on vocabulary and major topics he covered in class. He will not change your grade so arguing is pointless. The key to this class is practice.
Although he can be rude at times he isn't that bad. He is pretty helpful just don't ask stupid questions. Pay attention and attempt the problems and you'll do fine. The quizzes are pretty easy and helpful for the test.
Stats is already a difficult class but this guy makes in harder because of his personality. He is extremely rude and will make you look stupid in front of everyone if you dont ask the right question. He grades really strict. If I would have known about rate my professor before hand, I would not have taken him. More than half of the class dropped.
The worst class you could take, first day he said that no one passes his class with anything higher than a C and it's true. His grading is crazy, even if you get the problem right he'll mark you down on trivial stuff that's not important. Our class had 30 students in the beginning, it ended with 8. Any professor is better than him.
The tests did not cover what was presented during lecture. Only a couple of people passed this class, literally only a couple. Avoid taking this class with him at all costs, even if this is the only class available. I am a student who passes with a B average, and I failed because of the group projects and misleading tests.
I'm honestly shocked at these reviews. I missed quite a few days of class, and was still able to catch myself up. This is one of the nicest teachers I've had, and he pretty much dumbs everything down to make his lectures easier to understand. Goes over homework, and reviews right before testsquizzes. No issue.
I'll admit that I was nervous about statistics; however, upon completing this course with an A, I can confidently say that Nelsenador is fantastic. His lectures are detailed, concise, and well-structured. While there is weekly homework, his tests are similar to questions studied in class. This class requires individual effort, but highly recommend.
His lecture is not long. When he teaches and explains, the lessons seem very easy with you. It look like you got all of that. Homework is only in textbook. His tests are TOUGH!!! The tests are not even in the homework nor lectures. If you took Calculus 1 in high school before, the you'll be fine. If not, don't ever taken his class!
He can be condescending with the way he answers student's questions and doesn't really clear up any confusion they may have on a certain problem. His way of teaching was tedious. He writes a problem on the board then answers it. One after another. He's pretty anal about attendance/tardiness. We started out with 30+ students, now there's 12 left.
There are not enough words in the English language to describe what an awful professor this guy is. If Math is not your thing then avoid this guy and for the love of God take somebody else! His lectures, his tests, even his group projects (yes, he assigns group projects) didn't make any sense. He's just a flat out bad teacher with a bad attitude.
so far this is the worst professor i have taken. When you don't understand something and ask questions he makes look you dumb in front the class. One time a he called on a student to answer a question and he didn't really understood it and the professor was like " Are you freaking kidding me." throws a little fit. Why is this still teaching?
He should honestly quit teaching. Just horrible. HE tries to tell stories and is horrible.
Throughout the semester he isolated us, made sure we felt stupid every time we asked questions, and docked our grades any chance he could get for the most trivial reasons. He is completely unwilling to work with students and seems to get pleasure out of our failure. The class began with 33 students and only 8 or 9 of us took the final.
I would like to mention something brief and important for Professor Nelsenador to fully understand why behavior and attitude against us students matters throughout the mathematics learning experience classroom lecture sessions! Trust me I truly do mean it by honest maddened heart! Let me ask my questions about homework and study for successPLEASE!
Gives homework for each relevant lessen that is covered. Overly enthusiastic about the subject, which is good. Feels the need to belittle students who are new to Calculus. Understands the subject very well. Can help you before class. Kindly writes students homework questions on the white board. Yourself Matt.
Don't take his class if you don't want to drop
Professor can be disrespectful to students. Gets easily irritated by little things like cracking your knuckles. He does not use standard grading and may curve the final grades for the class. For example, A is 85% and up, B is 75% and up, C is 65% and up and D is 55% and up. Collects HW but grades only for completion. Many Quizs, 3 Exams, 1 Final.
Don't take his class in the summer if you want to have a good grade. He taught a lot of limit if you take Cal 1. His lectures were boring.
I might be loosing my 4.0 gpa because of this professor! This is my worst decision so far as a student. Please if you value the quality of education you get, do not pick this professor! I feel so unfortunate to have be in his class, his lectures are horrible! Yet he gives the toughest tests as though his goal failing us all. Its so sad!!!
I am taking his Math341 in spring 2019. He is an easy grader. Homework is a lot but he does not grade them, he chooses the ones have answer in the book so we can check. All of exam and quizes problems are similar to examples during lectures and homework. Exams & quizes are easy. He gives stars if you grade on exams are 98-99. Would take him again!!
Professor Nelsenador does his job as a professor and you should do your job as a student if you take his class. There's a reason MATH400 is 5 units. His exam problems test your knowledge and understanding of Calculus, not just memorizing how to do problems. Homework is once a week, on paper. Show up to class, do the homework, and ask Q's.
Currently taking 400 and, thanks to Professor Nelsenador's teachings, I know I'm on the road to getting an A. He was very informative on what topics would pop up in higher classes. The classes were 2.5 hours so obviously the lectures were long, but if you paid attention, you were golden. It takes work, as it should in a 5 unit class. It's worth it.
He has absolutely no respect for his students and is frequently trying making them feel stupid whenever they have a question. He told half my class to drop his class and to take basic arithmetic. Calls people out during class for minor things to humiliate them. On top of that he teaches the subject poorly because thinks you should already know it.
He is not a bad professor the subject itself is tough.
He does belittle people when they ask questions. It is true that he is not the best people person. I recommend taking another professor if you want to fully understand math in the higher levels. He is an okay professor and will get to the point quickly but it is hard to fully grasp the ideas. Please consider someone else to build your math skills.
He doesn't understand a lot of social cues and can come off as rude a lot of the time. His tests involve a lot of information that we only covered once in class or not at all. This class was the hardest I have taken yet and I am surprised I passed. If there is anything I have learned in this class, it is to study like my life depends on it.
This professor is fun and interactive, and the way he does his lectures is really well put. However just doing regular assignments and quizzes won't help you with exams at all in this class. As although he a good teacher he won't prepare for you exams at all he will just provide a base and you will need to work your ass off. His grading is strict.
Probably one of the worst math teachers I've had so far. I had to stop myself from crying in his class a few times due to the difficulty of his tests. The quizzes and homework do not prepare you for the tests, even though he assigns a lot of homework problems. He usually puts topics we've only discussed for 5 minutes.
Not a bad professor at all... He is extremely awkward but it adds to his character. The class itself isn't too difficult but lecture heavy. If you aren't good with sitting through 2+ hour lectures do not take this class.
He boosts the grades by 5% which I appreciated. I was doing well in the class until the quarantine which made the lectures harder imo. HW is every other day. When there were still in person lectures I was doing fine. I think he teaches well, in person atleast.
I can't believe I signed up to take this class with a highly rated professor then on the first day our section was shocked to see that we got this professor. With no other choices I had to stay in the class, he does NOT upload to canvas at all and is very rude. I would absolutely not take this class unless you absolutely have to. :( very sad
This professor is misrepresented on rate my professor. There are no surprises in the class, everything is laid out in the syllabus and tentative schedule/ HW schedule that is provided on day 1. There are plenty of quizzes that will give you an idea of what to study for tests. He does not belittle students as I have read in other comments.
This guy if you have good math skill just take it,He is humorous and clever but not duty to answer your question if you are preparation, get c also ok, Ibut get a is a difficulty ,that like make more tricks in quiz, exams ,(quiz will everyday and tri,)if he catches your mistake,(draw pictures ,if you forget ,you might get a 0 whole question
tries to fit 4+ chapters into 1 lecture and gives HW and test problems on chapters we didnt go over, throws tantrums and will embarrass you, does math in his head, a lot of HW every week with no consideration for your other classes, no feedback on HW, will make you feel bad for getting something wrong, I DONT RECOMMEND!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF!! doesn't care for his students, lectures have no explanation, had to learn by myself most the time. confused about the lesson? tough luck type of teacher makes students feel less than and can't be reached outside of class. Coming from a software engineer that excels in math this course is nearly impossible to pass DON'T TAKE!
He is a good man, but I don't recommend his course. His lecture's were difficult to follow, and many students had to study on their own because of how nonsensical his explanations and equations' seemed. Even the hard working student's received subpar grades. Many students' dropped the class because the tough grading and unrealistic expectations.
Good professor that keeps lectures active. Be prepared to do a lot of homework, but the homework quantity definitely helps with learning the concepts. You get what you put in in this class. Very helpful with answering questions or coming in during office hours.
This professor has a unique teaching style that can be challenging, but engaging if you put in the effort. The workload is heavy, with quizzes and exams that don't always align with the homework. Unstuck Study AI was crucial for preparing and staying on top of the content.
Good professor, active lectures, lots of homework graded for completion, grades labs hard, everything was laid out in the syllabus and on the schedule.
Communicating with him is difficult; his replies often make me feel inferior. He gives daily quizzes (except exam days) and weekly homework with 50+ questions. He uses his site, not Canvas, and doesn't post notes or recordings, so missing a lecture means falling behind with no way to catch up. His lectures also do not help with quizzes or exams.
This professor loves math, but unfortunately, they lack the teaching skills to effectively convey it. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone and would not take it again.
