Just come to his midterm and final review because he will tell you exactly what to study for. Easy class and you'll actually learn! p.s. cute in that geek kinda way ;)

This was a great 5 week class. A lot of reading but you learn a lot. Instructor Rinaldi was cool and kept class interesting. He only teaches this class in the summer.

Took Mr. R's class this summer. 5 week course. He is super nice and makes class fun! He tells you everything you need to know for the tests, and reviews the test with the class before you take it. He only has four assignments and two tests. I definitely recommend taking this course with him! You wont regret it! I left Happy and knowledgeable :)

Fantastic teacher! You can tell he really loves what he does. He is really funny and makes the material really easy to understand. Just show up and you'll do well on the test he gives! He only has two test: a midterm and a final. You do have to attend a concert and write about it and also research a music group. Both are fairly easy!

The only bad thing about this class is that it is over! Matt is an amazing teacher, really fun and entertaining! You learn so much, but in a relaxed atmosphere. If you want a class that you will actually LOVE going to - this is it!

Took the 5 week express class but Mr. Rinaldi is super funny & makes the 4 hours a day completely worth it. Some easy assignments (like going to a concert & researching a music group online) as well as a midterm & final that he reviews for before each test. Wish he taught something else I need because I would totally take another class with him!

THE BEST CLASS & THE BEST TEACHER. Super super easy class: lectures are taking notes and watching youtube. Goes test question by test question the class before the test. Non-stop laughing all the class long. The only outside work is 2 Concert Reports & 2 Researching of a Music Group. It is a lot of terms to memorize, but explained very well!

Mr. Rinaldi was a great teacher. he is not only hilarious but he knows what he is doing. He goes in detail about each aspect you are learning, and uses his humor to your advantage which helps you memorize it easier. I wish there were more teachers like him around!

Mr. Rinaldi is a great teacher! Funny, easy to understand, and knows his stuff! He goes over exactly what's on the test for about 12 hour before he gives it out, and the hardest assignment is finding a band that plays a specific genre of music and writing a report on it. Easy A, and you'll definitely learn something about music! 1010.

He's great but make sure you show up. Too many unexcused absesnses and you will drop a letter grade. Other than that the class is amazing, he's a great teacher, the tests are super easy if you just pay attention.

Mr. Rinaldi is such an awesome teacher. Before this class I knew nothing about music now I can you the difference between calves and timbales. He gave me the information I needed to study and Aced them each time. Defiantly would recommend him as an A+ teacher!

Excellent teacher who is well versed in his field of study. I like his style of teaching where he'll only lecture you on the information you'll need to know in order to pass his exams. Everything I learned in this class I will remember and use the rest of my life. I highly recommend this teacher and this class and can't say enough good things!

He's an "Aaa-Mazing" teacher. (Take him and you'll know why I put it in quotes :-)!!!) Before taking this class I wasn't sure that I'd learn very much, because come on its music. But wow was I wrong and learned so much I had no clue about. Like country music is made up of all kinds of music, from Blues, Rock, to Waltz (We Love Them)!ect. :-)

He is so upbeat and makes every class fun! He gives you all of the information you need to know for the tests in his lectures and reviews. There are few homework assignments that are quite fun and help out your grade if you don't do song well on the test. As long as you show up and takes notes you do great!

Rinaldi is the best teacher I've had besides Munsen (Holocaust class) at Northwest and I loved his class! He was an amazing person and his personality makes him very attractive. If I could take him again, I definitely would. PLEASE TAKE HIM!

If you are wondering how jazz musicians are IRL, have a deep interest in learning about music, love coffee and have a sense of humor... then look no further! Take this class without the first thought of regret! Trust me, you will learn something new. As for textbook, I lived without it, just take great notes in class and study that well...

I think there is a total of maybe 5 assignments in this class, all incredibly easy! This class was so much fun and Rinaldi is HILARIOUS. He makes boring music history entertaining by showing youtube videos and sharing personal stories. I rented the E-book of Chegg (maybe $20) and only used it a couple of times. One of my favorite professors ever!

One of my favorite professors. His class was amazing. He is probably the only music professor who made this class fun. I looked forward to class so much cause his lectures were so cool and most of the time we just watched cool music videos. His assignments and tests are pretty easy. If you need to take a music class, take Mr. Rinaldi, he's the best

Rinaldi really made this class enjoyable. His offers extra credit so if you think you might not get the grade you want, just ask him for extra credit. The tests were fairly easy as he reviews whats going to be on them before the exam starts. Although we learned the material, it didn't really feel like a class due to how fun the class was. 10/10

Fun class!

Only complaints were so much notes that my wrist hurts but its on me since I dont bring my laptop. Memorize those terms the day before and youre set for the terms test. Study a bit for the tests and youre gucci. Concert reports are easy and simple same with the research thingy, don't worry no essays Stop reading & register already. Easy A Certified

Mr. Rinaldi is the most friendly and kind teacher I have had in years. I had a very rough semester working multiple jobs and constantly sick. I was constantly late from exhaustion and he just laughed and said good morning when I would walk in. His class is super fun and you can actually learn a lot too.

Show up, take notes, pay attention, and you will do fine. Very hilarious and enthusiastic instructor and makes the class and material very fun to learn. Very highly recommended to take his class. There is not much else to say, amazing instructor and would take this teacher a thousand times over if I was given the option.

One of my fave professors ever. Such a hilarious guy. This is the one class I looked forward to during the semester. The tests are fairly easy as long as you show up and look over your notes beforehand. Popular Music in America is one of the most fun classes I've ever taken. I'd take another one of Rinaldi's classes even if it wasn't for credit.

Matt is probably the best professor I have every had! He cares about every one of his students! If you keep in contact with him he will help you out more than you can imagine! After having to close down for COVID-19 he was still just as awesome and it seemed like he didn't have any issues making the changes necessary.

Took this during the first summer 5 week section. Literally an easy A. Use the notes on your terms test, quizzes, final and you will get 100%. Perfect class f you need to knock out your fine arts class for graduation.

His lectures can run very long but he does his best to make it interesting, gives us a lot of breaks to recoup. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his work, which is always nice to see. I took the 8 week course. It's 3 exams, 2 essays (500 words), 2 concert reports (250 words), and 9 video discussions. All the lectures are short and precise. I'd recommend that you look at the exam guides and questions BEFORE STARTING ANY CONTENT, and take your notes dependent on those expectations.

Mr. Rinaldi is so funny and his approach on this class is very unique. Going all the way from the mid 1800s to the 2000s, his classes are entertaining and he clearly reaches his main goal: explain the different eras of music in the USA. His grading criteria and overall homework and tests are pretty easy and straightforward.

Took his online music class really straight forward, he gives feedback, grades quick and if you email he respond pretty quick! 2 essays, 2 concert reports, 3 exams there are 9 video discussions and a short lecture with for questions each week super manageable!
