Matt made thing fun. Gives a TON of feedback on essays. Attendance policy is no fun though.

You will write a whole bunch of essays in his class. But they all are different. Not too much busy work. I usually go to all my classes, so I really wasn't bothered by the attendance policy.

I'm not a good writer but this class is easy if you come to class everyday and do the assignments. That seems to be all he really askes of his students. People complain so much in this class, but it's really one of the easiest classes, if you're willing to do the work.

I can't believe all the crybabies in this class. I know Matt had to deal with them the way he did, but I just wanted to punch them! Too many people who are not ready for college.

Matt rocks! This class was really challenging, but he never hesitated to help when we needed it. It's great that he made us stick with our group. Our group had problems, but Matt helped us out with it. He really made the class useful. Most of us are in fields other than tech writing..he knew it.

It's great that he adjusted due dates and worked with us based on how well we were doing on the assignments. An easy class. You learn a lot, but not overworked. If you think his class is hard, then you are just plain lazy

Some days were a bit boring, but this class is useful and easy at the same time. When you take 101, take it from Matt. He makes it painless!!!!!!!!!

Matt is so generous with his time. He always read drafts and answered questions for me. This is what I want from a teacher, someone who is there to answer questions all the time.

This class is an easy 4.0 if you show up everyday and write the essays. Just don't slack off because there aren't a whole lot of essays and one bad essay or missed assignment is goin to really hurt you. He also likes south park which is awesome.

Matt makes this painless. All you need to do is ask him questions, participate in class, and do your work. If you don't get an A in this class, you are just lazy.

He's an extremely fair instructor. I got stuck with a****ty group that did****ty work and he completely understood because he saw how hard I was working. His teaching style is totally straightforward and if you put the time in, you CAN'T **** it up.

I got a 3.9 but that's 97% and in other classes would have been a 4.0. You need above 98% for that in his class, I asume that's hard because of the assignments. I learned a lot and a good writing class. Take him!!!

Took writing 143 online. Matt is a fair grader. Black and white type of the instructor. You need to follow the guidelines - or else you're screwed. I would recommend this teacher only for those who are EXTREMELY detailed! Good class overrall!

Took english 101 & 235 online. This guy is the best teacher i had in Highline. He appreciates hard work. He will help whenever you need it, all you need is to do is "ask for help." he is crystal clear on his instructions. He is a fair grader =))and wish to have him for future English course =)

I think the online course is great. If you read the instructions, you can't go wrong. But, when you ask Matt questions over email, he gives you all sorts of advice. Yes, reading other students papers is a good idea. I got to see some good things to do and some bad things to avoid. If you don't get an A in this class, it's your own fault.

Good class. Easiness scores are because it's nearly impossible to get a 100. It's ridiculously easy to get a 90 or a 95 though. Just write longer papers.

This class was challenging! He definitely doesn't give out free A's. I completed the online course. I finally got the full points on the last assignment of the quarter. He's a good professor and I learned a lot about technical writing! I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is interested in this field.

Matt is a great teacher. No, he does not just hand out a 100 on assignments-you earn your grade based on your work period. I have taken 235 w/him as well as 101 prior to that and did great. He has good advice when asking questions but also expects you to figure things out-I mean, we are college students after all. I would take more classes from him

At first some of the assignments seemed hard, and it seemed like Mr. Matt graded too hard. But when I asked him questions, Mr. Matt was always very helpful. He read my drafts and told me what to fix so that I would earn higher scores. The class is super easy if you follow instructions and ask lots of questions.

Effective instructor, not the most personable. You will not receive a 4.0 in his class, or a 100 on your paper. There is a decent amount of effort required to pass, although getting the 98 for a 4.0 is more than a little superhuman, as he grades fairly harshly. [As a benchmark, other professors require 95%, and generally grade easier]. Best class.

If you don't miss class and if you follow the directions, it's easy to get a 4.0 in this class.

If you can read, you can get an A in this class. It's the most organized class I've seen. All the information is there, and all you need to do is follow directions and not try to do the bare minimum. It's not that he's a hard grader; you just need to figure out that he wants you to write longer papers. Figure that out, and you're good.

I wish Highline had more online classes like Matt's. Canvas was super organized. Everything was easy to find, and he was quick to answer questions. Some assignments are easy and some are more difficult. It's a good class.

I took 101 before with a different instructor and failed. Matt's class was a ton better. 101's a tough class, but I got through it. Tough grader, but explains why you got the grade and helps you do better next time.

What a great class. I didn't think it would be relevant, but Matt does a good job in showing us real-life uses for the writing skills he teaches. He's the Microsoft Word master! I'm glad I took this class.

Not sure why people don't think you can pass this class. The grade calculations are very clearly stated in the syllabus. The class is straightforward. I have to take mostly online classes. Many of them are difficult to know what I'm supposed to do. Matt's class is streamlined. All the information we need is right there, and there's no distractions. Matt responded immediately whenever I had questions. His videos are great, too. I like how he talks specifically to the current class.

Seriously the most straight forward and organized professor I've ever had. Every assignment is clear, and he grades immediately. Plenty of opportunities to ask questions, although you probably won't need to since everything is crystal clear and easy to follow. Would recommend him a million times.

If you're looking for an online class, Schwisow is your guy. It doesn't get much better than this. His Eng235 class isn't hard, isn't easy (but it leans toward the easier side). You'll end up learning something, and if you do the work, you'll get a solid grade. Quick with grading and responding to emails. Great feedback. Would highly recommend.

He is good but he take grade for simple thing but that because it is technical writing. He gives good feed back when he take off the grades. I like his class iI felt it is easy.

Class is a lot like a focused and facilitated study hall. Matt has activities each day, but they are usually just another way of working on the current assignment. Lots of combinations of lecture, groupwork, and discussion. Lots of reading homework.

Matt is a great professor! He truly cares about his students and wants them to improve their writing skills to their best ability. He's always open to answering questions during class and office hours. His in-class activities involve discussion on assigned articles or tips and tricks for structuring your papers. Matt was my favorite teacher! He is highly clear on what he's grading on for essays and if you send or meet with him to review your essays he takes his time to go in dept, read and evaluate your essay. English comes easy to me but it doesn't: I would recommend Matt because the class really helps your writing and his lectures are interesting!

Matt is a very chill teacher. He's always available and there to help when you need to clarify a question. Unlike other teachers Matt likes to hear your questions and tries to answer them thoroughly as possible. He sometimes comes dressed as cat in the hat to get us in the mood.

If you don't get an A in this class, it's your own fault. Matt's materials, class meetings, and comments on drafts are so clear and helpful that it's impossible to do poorly in this class unless you skip or don't do what he tells you to do.

I loved this online English class. There were 4 essays and peer review opportunities. This English class was themed around food which I recommend you take a English class geared toward an intrest of yours. This teacher was very accessible outside of class and since it was online you could email him and he could give you suggestions on improving.

There is a lot to learn from the class, but that also means there's lots of work to do! He paces his class well enough that it is not impossible to complete the work, but if you take the class online, you have to be disciplined. His grading is very fair. The final was a huge, huge paper, but again, if you are self-motivated, you will be successful.

I did Matt's online class. He is extremely helpful if you have any questions and replies to his email within minutes. His papers are not hard at all and ultimately just wants to see that you tried. In my opinion, the textbook was not necessary but for those who have not done a lot of writing, it might be useful.

I took this clas with a friend, and she didn't like it, but I think that's because she didn't really put in much effort. I liked it a lot. My advice is to ask Matt questions. He's super helpful. The work is difficult, but he helped me do better work and get a higher grade.

During Covid, all classes are online. During spring and summer, most of my classes seemed very hectic, like the teachers didn't know what they were doing. Matt's course this summer is an exception to that. He provides clear instruction and assignments, and his communication is amazing. This is what online classes should be like.

Mr. Schwisow is what I consider above average instructor. He makes learning technical communication not a chore, and a little bit fun. Read the book, take the quizzes, do the class assignments, and youll be fine. Its a lot of writing, but its an English class, it is to be expected.

Matt might be one of the best teachers that I have ever had. He can be hard on grading but that is only because he is constantly helping you out and trying to help you whenever he can. He is understanding if something happens and I would very much suggest you show up to his class or go to any optional zoom meetings if you ever need a little help.

Matt is seriously a great teacher and I'm so glad I took him. His grading is a bit hard but he always gives you a chance to fix it. When emailing him, he replies within 6-18 hours which is great. He will even help revise your essays if you ask. His office hours are also very helpful if you're needing extra help. Take his class, he is the best.

The best professor I have ever had. He is so chill and gives really great feedback. He doesn't give a crazy amount of assignments and we had a lot of time to work on each of the assignments. The things we learned were actually useful and I know that I will be using them in the future.

Matt is a really great professor! Although his class is taken online, he makes it really easy for you attend office hours and he replies to emails within minutes! He's always there to help. One thing I would say is that he's not very specific with his directions, so you might need to ask extra questions. But other than that, he's great!

He is understanding and considerate. His material is great, expect moderate reading, nothing too hard. His lectures are easy to follow, read the syllabus and you are set, his teaching style is not comlicated.

The online course was fairly easy to follow. The quizzes are from the textbook which take a bit of time to completely read. All the writing assignments took time and effort to complete but if you read the instructions carefully it should be no problem. This class was an easy course my gosh. If you put in the work and do the reading its an easy A. There are about 4 papers to write that arent at all to difficult that all come with examples as long as you follow the rubric youd have to be a rock to fail. 100% recommend easy class

Overall a good experience with Professor Schwisow. Easy to understand during lectures, and is willing to answer any and all questions. I never had to reach out with problems. As long as you stay on top of the workload, you should pass. Not too difficult. I would definitely recommend taking him.

Professor Schisow was a sweetheart! He was super responsive to my questions and his assignments were really simple. You could totally slip readings and go through just doing assigned essays and discussions. Make sure to take advantage of the early module releases too. Def reccomendd

The best English professor. Guides and always ready to help with an assignment. He chose an interesting topic to write our essays about. All quarter long we wrote small essays and as the final project we had a larger essay. All of the assignments were on the same or similar topic. Loved this class.

Everything was an easy A until the final project report which I put about 20% effort in to and turned in a week late but still got a generous score even though it took down my grade heavily. Other than that, he gives lots of time for the assignments and especially the final so make sure to use it wisely. He is also very helpful to your requests.

Overall easy class, I enjoyed the peer reviews which were often. As well as, his thorough comments that included positives and critiques!

The textbook is engaging, and, for once, I enjoyed reading it. The class set up is also really simple: you follow the rubrics and guidelines, you'll get 100%. Do the reading, make sure you know key definitions, and carefully discuss on Canvas. The writing assignments are more difficult, but take your time and follow the instructions given.

Engaging professor who gives great feedback. Use unstuck ai along with the free textbook to ace this class. Stay on top of the workload and you'll do well.

Absolute pleasure taking this class and learning from Matt. He provides the textbook for you which saves you a $150+ fee. Occasional tests on the textbook, but most of the classwork consists of group discussions/feedback and individual assignments. Only a few assignments took me more than an hour to complete. Loved this class, WOULD recommend!
