Dr. Bruder is an amazing professor. His lectures are engaging, but very quick. We'd go through an average of 70-75 slides in a 50 minute lecture. He is very helpful in and outside of class. Definitely NOT an easy A, but he'll make sure you know everything for your field. Be prepared to read in advance and go over his powerpoint a lot.
Class is defiantly not an easy class! Be prepared to study everyday for at least an hour. He does his lectures straight from the powerpoints so its fine to miss sometimes. Waste a lot of time through pointless demonstrations with students. Powerpoints are extremely long with the shortest being around80 slides and the longer ones being 200+ slides
He is an okay guy and obviously anatomy is really hard. He does his best to teach a class that is mostly learned by independent studying.
Dr. Bruder is a tough teacher. Be prepared to study daily and take notes. During lectures he reads straight off of a powerpoint that he posts a day before. Many students struggle to do well.
Bruder was an amazing teacher. He's intimidating but I learned so much and enjoyed class. He's sarcastic but if you understand his humor class is funny. Make sure you study and you'll do fine. He always makes sure you can contact him (office hours, email, text) and he will always answer your questions. Anatomy is a lot of info but he made it fun
Bruder seems intimidating at first, but dont be scared! Usually gives study guides, but not til the night before. Difficult class and can be overwhelming. He makes it interesting, but wastes a lot of time in class. Expect to study a ton bc anatomy is a lot of info to process. Barely used the book. All test questions are from powerpoints he posts.
Dr. Bruder made class enjoyable to attend, but attendance wasn't mandatory even though he said it was. Everything you need to pass the test is on his powerpoints, so if you study those well you will get a good grade. Final is cumulative but pretty broad. He wants you to succeed by going to office hours, etc. Makes study guide last minuteirritating
Dr. Bruder is a funny guy, but a terrible professor for Anatomy. His lectures are just him reading everything word by word off a powerpoint, which you can do at home anyways so what's the use of showing up? His class is extremely difficult and he really isn't helpful at office hours. He really doesn't care and it shows.
Dr Bruder is a great teacher who really wants all of his students to do well. Lectures have tons of info but are enjoyable. Funny guy who loves his job. Bruder's tests can be rough but nothing you cant prepare yourself for. I hope I can take another class with him.
Bruder is by far the hardest & unorganized teacher I've ever had. His powerpoints are over 100 slides long and rushes through them; if he doesn't finish, you're expected to learn it on your own which is not fair. Going to talk to him in his office hours was a waste of time. Not understanding and seemed to not care. Study guides were a JOKE. BEWARE!
Dr. Bruder is an entertaining professor, but his class is very challenging. He is an MD and teaches the course as if you are in medical school with his "you must know everything, you must be studying for this class from the second you start it" mentality. Although intense, I learned A LOT and if you REALLY put in the work the A is possible!
His lecture slides are long and have a lot of (what I believe to be) unnecessary information or "fluff". He did provide a "study guide" for all exams, but were sometimes useless due to his " you need to know anything and everything about human anatomy" mentality. Class is only graded on exams so lots and lots of outside studying is a must!
he teaches the class with 100+ powerpoint slides. A lot of them are filled with extra details, many of which won't be on the exams. The exams are very difficult and cover a huge range of topics. Be prepared to study a lot outside of class. Bruder is very funny and the class definitely is not dry, but super difficult
What a guy. Bruder makes anatomy so easy as long as you pay attention. Have to look at powerpoint before class and take notes then and then just write down extra information during lecture. Super helpful during office hours. Love him and his teaching style. Show up to class and you'll do fine, but if you need to skip class it wont kill you.
I love Dr. Bruder!!!!! He expects a lot from you, so if you put in the work you'll be fine. It is a hard class, first test is the hardest so study hard! I study off of the bolded terms in his powerpoints and gather extra information through the textbook, helps me succeed and I hope it helps you :)
Anatomy is a difficult class to teach, but Bruder tries to make the class fun to go to by calling on people and trying to learn peoples names. His lecture is exactly what will be on the exam so that's the most useful study tool. Class is definitely not mandatory, you just need to learn the powerpoints on your own which will be posted online.
Absolutely love Bruder! However its very difficult to do well in the class, be sure to start studying the day you go in, try to get ahead or at least on top of all the powerpoints as its very easy to fall behind. Hilarious guy, but wastes a good amount of time. A is possible but with lots of work!
If you haven't taken high school anatomy, GOOD LUCK to you. Bruder is a really sweet guy who cares about his students. Very easily accessible. The class on the other hand is ALOT of information to retain. His lectures suck. He literally only reads off his powerpoints. Useless to go to in my opinion. WAY too many EXTRA stuff. Study guides are okay.
I love Dr. Bruder! He is funny and makes lecture fun b/c he calls on people. Attendance is def not mandatory, but I don't mind going b/c he keeps us engaged even tho he pretty much just reads off the slides. A lot of studying outside of class is necessary to do well on his exams, so I recommend studying off bold terms in the 300+ slide Powerpoints.
Dr. Bruder is a great guy don't get me wrong. But I took A&P in high school and did very well, but struggled in his class because of the way he taught. As a visual learner it was hard because he read directly from the ppte aka straight from the textbook with not a lot of helpful pictures. Don't get behind and self-study.
Dr. Bruder obviously loves his job and knows a lot about anatomy. It is extremely helpful to take notes over his Powerpoint slides before lecture because he moves quickly. He often calls on students randomly, so pay attention in class. He likes to keep class fun with activities and jokes, and he likes getting to know his students.
worst professor ever. Does not know how to teach. Sweet man though. Very caring but man he just reads off his powerpoint. Only possible to get an A if you took anatomy in high school. Don't expect to learn anything you didn't already know. Many people barely passed the course. None extra credit either.
There's a TON of material to get through and that's not Bruders fault but know that all lectures are on powerpoints with hundreds of slides and mostly he just reads off of them. Tests are difficult but SI sessions and a final review are available and he does want you to succeed you just have to work for it. The class is meant to "weed" people out.
Anatomy is a hard class regardless of who teaches it. Dr Bruder does his best to teach it and is a funny, enjoyable guy. You need to work hard outside class because most of anatomy is just memorization. His tests are very hard, but not impossible and he gives you a study guide. Overall a good guy that cares about his students and their success.
Very difficult class for freshman nursing students. Nice person but not the best teacher, mostly just reads off of the powerpoint.
Rely on the Powerpoints (which he posts on Sakai) and minimally on the book. During class, he appreciates participation so don't be afraid to speak up. This class will become the bane of your existence, but you can't get out of it being taught by him. Prioritize this class. All in all, he wants to get to know his students and for them to succeed.
Bruder is a grown man but with the mind of a 6 year old (in the best way possible). Lectures consist of him just going through his slides. However, it's crucial to take notes on the topics he emphasizes in class because that's what's on his tests. Tests are 50 questions (multiple choice). Overall, you can't escape having him, so try to enjoy class
All Bruder does is read through his powerpoints on every topic. He attempts to give you a "study guide" but they don't do anything. He has told his classes that he doesn't care if his students fail or about their mental health. You have to pay attention to every detail in order to do well on his tests, he says to study 40+ hours a week.
Likes to call on people randomly so be prepared. All he does is read off the powerpoints, which can usually be up to 100+ slides. Tests are straightforward but he gives out the study guide 2-3 days before which isnt enough time. Tries to make lecture entertaining because the material is a lot to absorb. Just study the slides and youll be fine.
Dr. Bruder reads off of his slides, which most of the powerpoints he posts on Sakai are 100+ slides. There is a lot to know and a lot is expected of you, but there's no way of "avoiding" to take this class because it's required for nursing. Study, read the slides, pay attention in class and take notes on the topics he talks a lot about in lecture.
Dr. Bruders anatomy class is the hardest class youll take freshman year. Regardless, if you study his powerpoint slides&have a good understanding of the material, you will pass. People hate on Bruder for reading off powerpoint slides & being too harsh, but anatomy is a hard class on its own&I feel that he does the best he can. Buy him Canes.
You can't really get out of having him as a teacher for anatomy because he's the only one. I'd recommend trying to get through the material before he goes over it in class, but even then, he just reiterates what's already on the slides. By far, it is the hardest class I've ever taken, but it's possible to do well if you're consistently studying.
Reads off the slides and moves on very quickly. Even if you study and completely know the information on the slides his exams are still extremely difficult. He makes paragraph-long questions to try and distract you. Some of the information on the exam is nowhere on the slides! Hardest class ever! Half of the students failed.
He reads off slides very quickly & calls on ppl randomly. Each pwrpoint has 80-100 slides. There's 1 paper, 7 quizzes, and 5 exams w/ 50 questions. He provides study guides but they aren't very helpful so study slides. Exams are difficult but are curved. It's a weed out class. Don't be lazy. Try to memorize slides after each class.
Anatomy is a hard topic, but he did not help at all. Reads straight off the powerpoints. Waste of time. Went to his office hours for help, and all he would do is say get this grade on the next exam. Study sessions with SI tutors were no help either, all they did was play Kahoot. You basically teach yourself the whole semester.
Dr. Bruder is a nice guy. He does care about his students. His lectures have a TON of information, so I really recommend SI to succeed in this class. His tests are doable, and there's an extra 12% of your grade added on, so long as you review your tests. Attendance isn't mandatory, you can basically skip class and look at the slides and do fine.
Dr. Bruder was the worst Dr I have ever had. It was the first time for me failling a course in my whole life. He made feel like I am stupid. His exams are really hard like he is challenging the students. NEVER TAKE HIM. I did not learn anyhting from his class. So many students were suffering.
the worst class the worst teacher. His exams are hard and very long. He just reads fron the PP very fast. I hated the class
Bruder makes this class much more stressful than it needs to be. His expectations are unclear and he will often mess with students and get in their head while sharing misleading information. This makes the class confusing and stress-inducing. Having him is inevitable as a nursing student, just do your best and GROUP STUDY!!!
Listen to everybody, avoid this man at all costs. He lectures and isn't even helpful. he answers questions with another question. It may seem like easy work cause of his lectures but his test and quizzes are impeccably hard. overall he isn't a good professor.
The class was made up of long powerpoints he flew through and pop quizzes that many people did not pass. Saw anatomical models only twice in class during the semester. Did not correctly communicate with our GNUR155 lab professor. Some people that passed the final cheated to do so. If you're able to take GNUR155 with anyone else, I beg you to do so.
No. This class made me cry almost every week, and when I approached Dr. Bruder for help he told me to "do better" when I was already attending SI Sessions and re-writing lecture notes after class. You're better off just watching Crash Course A&P, that's how I passed. If you want to be consistently stressed, every day, take this class.
Bruder is a nice guy but his exams are brutal. He makes questions a whole paragraph long, tells you about a quiz a few days in advance (or doesn't tell ur section but tells others) so be in group chats! He does want to everyone to succeed but he really makes you suffer. I cried so much semester but in the end I somehow enjoyed it.
Dr. Bruder is a very knowledgeable person and teaches his lectures more conceptually. He is a very difficult professor but his lectures are engaging as he talks to students throughout the class. If you read the textbook in conjunction with reviewing his slides, you will have no problem with his exams.
He goes through PowerPoints fast expecting you to understand it all. He gives quizzes, only letting you know a day prior. Exams can have questions that are almost a paragraph. He will often include material he specifically talked in class or a specific example he gave in class, so I highly recommend going to class and actually paying attention.
Doctor Bruder is truly kind and legitimately wants his students to succeed. He offered office hours and made himself accessible to his students, especially before exams. I definitely recommend him!
Personally this was one of the hardest and least enjoyable class I've taken for my first semester. Dr. Bruder is not bad of a teacher, but in the end you are stuck teaching yourself more. He practically spends 50 minutes reading off the slides and breeze through many in just a day alone. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY for quizzes and exams no matter what.
Grade is based off of 4 regular exams plus the final, 6 quizzes, and 4 video projects. Bruder is all together a nice guy but his lectures are essentially just him reading off of his slides. Despite his dry humor, he does care about his students passing
Dr. Bruder lectures very fast and it is hard to keep up sometimes, but he is certainly passionate about what he does. Participation goes a long way with him. He's willing to answer questions after class, but he can also throw some last minute projects at you and can be quite frustrating at times. I did learn a lot and am taking him again.
Definitely the most funny and interesting lectures, but the lectures are mostly just Dr. Bruder going over the powerpoint slides. The tests are fine if you study. He was very accessible outside of class and he gives more than enough opportunities for his students to succeed.
Dr. Bruder is hard. no doubt. but if you actually listen in class you'll realize how much he understands the topic. Just review his powerpoints outside of class and you'll pass. the powerpoints are EVERYTHING.
Professor Bruder is a great person and professor. The class is hard but not due to him, there is a lot of material to cover over the one semester time period.
Dr. B is a good prof, but the class is very challenging. He holds review session before the exams and gives you topics that you should know. The quizzes are so much harder then the exams and that's what really brings your grade down. Pay attention in class and know the material, GO TO SI. It's going to be hard, but use your resources.
Dr. Bruder is an excellent Anatomy teacher. He gave a greater understanding of Anatomy especially since he is an actual MD. I would totally recommend taking him because the information he covers is completely relevant for the rest of your nursing career. Not a lot of homework and about 4 tests and the final. Not many quizzes, but some ungraded.
you have to dedicate basically all your time to studying his powerpoints. the powerpoints are the entire test but you have to really know them. he reads off the powerpoint the entire class and thats it. 4 exams and final. almost every nursing freshman has said they were going to drop out at some point because of this class
Anatomy is hard!!!! Freshman year you will spend most of your time studying anatomy. Dr. Bruder talks fast so you have to go back and write notes and study them. Go to SI! It is difficult but not impossible.
Dr. Bruder is a good professor, but the class itself is difficult because anatomy has so much content. In class, he mainly reads off his PowerPoints and will occasionally give quizzes (not for a grade). There are 4 exams, a final, and a Top Hat assignment for each system (completion grade). If you want to pass study the powerpoints!!!
Professor Bruder was a great professor. In his class, you will see that he really knows what he is talking about, as he is very intelligent in anatomy. This is an extremely difficult class. You are going to really have to work hard for a good grade, but it is possible and very rewarding. STUDY STUDY STUDY
a great man and will 100% make anatomy less dreadful
Bruder knows what he is talking about so pay attention in lectures. This is the hardest class I've ever taken and it requires a lot of effort and dedication. I rarely had time to study for my other classes so time management is essential, taking notes on the slides BEFORE class helps a lot! TopHat is helpful so don't just skip thru it.
Bruder is a great professor. He knows what he is talking about. Take notes on what he SAYS during lectures not just on the slides. You NEED to study for this class. GO TO SI SESSIONS, they help A LOT. If you know how to study you'll be good, if not, find a way-as blunt as I can put it.
Bruder is a good prof, this class is just very hard. If he emphasizes anything during lecture make sure you write it down because there will most likely be an exam question on it. This class requires a lot of studying and you'll barely have time for other classes. Make sure you GO TO SI SESSIONS! Study off the power point, don't worry about tophat
This is a tough class with a lot of material and the tests are extremely challenging (4 plus a final) but he tries to help by making some tests online through zoom for various reasons such as weather. He also bumps your grade with tophat questions (basically a free test grade). Go to SI sessions and study the PowerPoints and you'll be fine.
He's your only option, so take this as advice on how to do well. GO TO SI SESSIONS because the tutors explain everything in ways you can understand. I also found reading and taking notes on the TopHat is helpful, but after a while, it gets hard to keep up with, so make sure to study his slides before every exam.
Everyone on this site hates on Bruder. Yes, he is one of the hardest professors I have ever taken and Anatomy Lecture was hands down the hardest class I took freshman year. HOWEVER. Dr. Bruder CARES. If you take this class seriously, the amount of info you will learn will blow your mind. This is why I learned to love his class! GO TO SI sessions!!
BY FAR THE BEST prof I've taken ever. Of course the exams were hard and you had to study like crazy, but he always made sure you're prepared and gave layouts of what he expected. Soooo knowledgeable and I'd take him for every class if I could. MAKE SURE you try to participate and PAY ATTENTION to what he spends a lot of time talking ab (on exam)!!
People are mad at Bruder's ratings because he's a nice guy. It's true he is very friendly and really likes to talk to students, but he isn't a good teacher! He basically just reads off a powerpoint and his quizzes and tests are so hard. Our SI told us we should be grateful to walk away with a B and he will look for the most obscure test questions.
This course was extremely difficult and content heavy. Dr. Bruder reads off slides and gives pop quizzes. There were 4 exams, cumulative final, and homework was 100+ TopHat questions. Exam study guides were not helpful. Go to SI sessions and attend his zoom review before each exam. Exam questions were a paragraph long and very wordy.
He gets a lot of hate from people but honestly he is a nice guy who tries to help us just the content he has to teach is difficult which is not his fault. He was always accessible outside of class and during the pandemic he did a lot of extra reviews. It is good to participate as he likes if you know him well. Just be prepared to put in the work.
Dr. Bruder has a reputation of being the hardest nursing professor but honestly he was one of the best. He genuinely wants us to learn and grow to be amazing nurses. It is a lecture heavy class so be prepared for a lot of information at once, but with some review time atleast a few times a week, you'll pass and do great!
Dr. Bruder is a great professor. He is very very very lecture heavy and his tests are wordy and confusing, BUT he does offer 3 attempts at the exam and takes the highest score. He is very knowledgeable about what he teaches and his lectures can be very interesting. Take good notes and study a lot and you will do fine.
Anatomy is not an easy subject. But, as a nursing/exercise science major, you will have to take it in your time at Loyola. Dr. Bruder will most likely be your professor. The problem with anatomy is that the reality is there's no easy way to teach it. The class is difficult, Dr. Bruder doesn't make it easier, but you can succeed.
Dr. Bruder's an average professor, he is pretty understanding and he gives okay lectures. He mostly reads off the slides and occasionally adds a few things in. We got very behind and had to teach ourselves an entire system which was not fun. Tests can be hard but he gives study guides. No count pop quizzes and uses "Top Hat" for HW (completion)
Dr. Bruder's GNUR 155 section was a fun experience, and he taught the material well in a way that I was able to understand it. He definitely is not for everyone, and he goes quite fast for his lectures. I would suggest writing down (for notes if you take them) mainly the things he physically talks about, not necessarily everything on the slides.
A pretty solid professor. Really caring and gave lots of opportunities for students to be successful. Anatomy is a hard subject to teach and performance really depends on your commitment to it. In-class & online quizzes (based on completion) & 4 exams (you get retake opportunities for each!) Just devote time and effort and you'll be fine.
Dr. Bruder is a respectable professor. Anatomy is a content heavy class but he does a nice job of breaking up the class period by telling stories, making jokes, and asking questions. Your grade depends on 3 exams + 1 final exam. For each exam there is a retake option and quiz completion, among other things, to help boost your grade!
Very nice guy but just reads from his slides incredibly fast the entire lecture. There are no other resources for students to study other than his slides. You will dedicate most of your time to this class. Dr. Bruder has tricky questions on his exams that can be up to a paragraph long. Go to SI and review sessions.
Overall Dr. Bruder is a great teacher, but be prepared to study like crazy. His tests are very hard and worth the majority of your grade. He also lectures too fast, and gives you no time to write notes in class.
Dr. Bruder is such a kind and caring teacher and he genuinely cares for his students. This class is extremely difficult but he tries to make it fun and engaging The lectures are very heavy, but there is no homework and attendance isn't mandatory.
Dr. Bruder is a professor that genuinely cares for the subject he teaches. His tests are extremely difficult and his study guides don't match up with what's on the test. Participate in class, he will appreciate that. Sometimes he can be a bit harsh, but don't let that discourage you.
not my favorite teacher at all, goes way too fast and makes the most outrageous and unjust tests. taking him again because he is a kind man and I can get through it. participation is appreciated and attendance is not mandatory but you should miss as little class as possible or will fall very behind very very quick! lots of studying all the time
Goes super fast. 5 tests and a final. You can retake tests one week after the actual test. Sometimes calls on people randomly and I had major anxiety going to this class. You can skip but its not recommended. Funny and smart professor, but there are better teachers for this course.
Each lesson Bruder basically reads and goes over the slideshows, all exams were online for us, goes a little fast so you might have to go over slides on your own, very humorous, & attendance not mandatory but he recommends it!
Overall Dr.Bruder wasn't a bad professor. He does give students opportunities to do better on exams. Anatomy is a very tough class because there is so much content, so it's understandable why some students don't like his class. He tries to keep the class engaged by telling stories here and there and asks lots of questions. He expects participation
Overall Bruder is a good teacher. The only hard thing about this class is that your grade is only made up of five items. Four exams and one final, all of which are 20% each. He offers a retake after each exam and keeps the higher score. The retake will save you every time!! Overall I'd recommend taking him.
Overall, Bruder was an okay professor. The class itself is very difficult and your entire grade is solely based on 4 exams and a final. I personally had a hard time digesting his teaching style because he has a very sarcastic tone while lecturing that makes understanding the facts kinda hard. There is SO much content packed into a singular lecture.
This was the hardest/anxiety-inducing class of the semester (5 exams and a final all multiple choice), but you do have multiple attempts on exams, the exams are directly off his slides and the things he says in classes, he cold-calls during lectures so you have to know the material before class, but Bruder made sure we knew the material
Bruder was overall a good professor, he has a sarcastic/dry humor that makes class somewhat engaging. I would skip the textbook as exam questions are mainly based on his slides. This is a difficult and content heavy course and he runs through the material very quickly so make sure to stay consistent with studying and SI sessions/office hours.
Talks very confusing
Lectures/slides were confusing bc of the way he talks plus the slides were very long, but there are retakes for each exam. Even if you do bad on the first/second attempt and do better on final portion he replaces it with the higher score. Purchase of textbook is also required since there's hmw but you never use it bc exams were based on slides.
His slideshows can be very confusing and unclear, and he lectures very quickly. If you don't finish a slideshow in class he expects you to learn it on your own and still tests on it. Multiple attempts on exams and he takes the highest score, If you have the option to not take him, take that option, not Bruder.
The lectures are long and can be kind of boring, but he tries to engage the class. If you do bad on an exam there is retake opportunities, and if you want to go over the exam with him he will go over the questions you got wrong, which is nice. The class is difficult, but Dr Bruder does try and help if you are struggling.
Lots of stressful tests and lectures are power points that are hard to understand and often don't match up with test questions. No homework so tests determine your grade. Bruder is funny, but his class is not.
He is very respectful. His lectures are fast-paced but there is a ton of material to cover. Studying is very important so you won't fall behind.
Good luck with this class. Professor just reads off the slides and rarely has any helpful information to add on during lectures. No clear guideline on what to study for the test. That's bad when there's 400-500 slides per unit that you need to memorize & only 50 MC questions on each exam. Once he knows your name he'll start cold calling on you lmao
This professor is an extremely fast talker so it is very hard to keep up with notes during class. If you want to succeed in class you need to take the notes for the lecture that day before hand and just listen in class. The professor also cold calls on students and once he is familiar with students he calls on the same 5,(picks favorites).
avoid him if u can bc he'll give u ptsd. also might tell u to change majors.
he's okay, but his lectures are all over the place. 4 exams that are all on zoom with reassessments the following week. if u participate in the class he will continue to only call on you for the rest of the semester. not the best introduction to the nursing program at luc but it gets better
If you can take someone else I would recommend it. If you write slower, learn to write faster. He goes through lecture very quickly, calls you out to answer. If he finished teaching a presentation on Wednesday, its on Fridays exam. He didn't finish? He'll post the rest of it and it'll be on Fridays exam.
He goes over slides quickly and scratches the surface of the material. Tests are based on the slides and are online. Make sure to study really hard for these, he doesn't usually mention what will be on the test. Quizzes are given every weekend. If you participate once, he will pick on you the rest of the semester.
goes through the slides fast and wasnt much help when i went to his office hours. would not take again but he the only anatomy teacher 😭
Bruder is literally the best. He's tough on you and cold calls you every now and then in class but in terms of helping you remember what to study he's great. He definitely helps you get out of that comfort zone and into the habit of participation and collaboration. For an anatomy class I'm not sure how much better you can teach it!
He's a pretty good professor. While class is hard, he tells you what you need to know the class before the exam. Go to SI's if you need help because they do Kahoot or shorten the notes for you. Bruder will cold call, but it does help with your active recall. I can explain most topics because of this. He is tough, but anatomy is just a hard subject.
His lectures are very rushed and important info is skipped over often. I really wish attendance wasn't mandatory because I would've just taken notes on my own rather than sitting there missing stuff as he speeds through the slides. He is helpful and accessible but the lectures are just not worth it.
Dr. Bruder is a solid professor who has a dry (but funny) sense of humor and is always willing to help. Yes he cold calls. People don't like him, which is understandable. However, participate as much as you can + Office hours. Be engaging and ask questions. This class if definitely do-able, you will be just fine if you keep up your studies.
He just reads off the slides faster than you can take any notes and you have to do majority of the learning by yourself. SI sessions and crash course saved me. Its a difficult subject and he's not a great teacher but if you have him don't freak out. If you work hard and study you'll be fine.
My friend took him and she was traumatized. He yelled at her for no reason and also he was super disrespectful regard accomodations. For your sake and for the sake of the friends around you who have to comfort you throughout the semeser, BEWARE
He is very mean and does not know how to motivate students. If you ask him for help you do not recieve it and you will be degraded. He also likes the male nurses a little too much...
Kind of ironic that the only nursing professor available to teach anatomy at a 70% female populated school is misogynistic. Dr. Bruder is condescending, self absorbed, and provides little resources to understand material besides 186 slide presentations. GO TO SI SESSIONS. it will probably be the only way you have a chance at succeeding.
Although he's a nice (ish) man, his class is very lecture heavy. He goes really quick, so its hard to understand him during class. His lectures are composed of slides, but he will zoom through them. You will need to learn outside of his classes, since there is so much content that is given.
Dr. Bruder was fun in class, but lectures often felt rushed. He spent a lot of time telling irrelevant stories or trying to remember students' names, which led to falling behind on the material. Graded by four exams + final and weekly quizzes. Some exam questions made no sense, and there were common grammatical errors.
Take notes before class because he talks so fast that you will not be able to take any notes in class. Try to be ahead because he wastes class time joking with his favorite students. He is not easy to access outside of class so if you have something to ask, ask in class. He is the only GNUR155 professor so good luck!
Dr. Bruder is a challenging professor, and his class absolutely requires 100% effort both inside and outside of class. However, if you actually engage in his lectures and don't just sit there silently like most people, Bruder will like you. Goes very fast with the slides, not the most accessible dude outside of class, but overall, decent teacher.
Dr. Bruder is an interesting character. He forces engagement, which helped me learn the material better, and also he likes to make class interesting at times with his stories that relate with the material. His questions on exams are fun to read but make sure to read them carefully. Make sure you participate in class, it makes it more enjoyable
He was okay, I get why people don't like him as he does have a rather abrasive personality, sometimes even coming off as passive aggressive. You're graded off four exams, a final, and weekly quizzes. Going to office hours will definitely help if you're not understanding topics in class. Be ready to dedicate your life to his class for a semester!
People who took high school anatomy were better off, & unfortunately I was not one of those people. Rushes through slides (1-200+ slides)& when he runs out of time he's shocked. Slides are full of info, & he just read off of them. Do notes ahead of class, you won't have time to do them during. Study in groups, do active recall, GO TO SI SESSIONS!!!
Bruder goes too fast through the material without explaining more in-depth, but if you go to him during office hours in person/online he helps but does rush through. I did have a rough start to the semester but SI tutors helped most. Would recommend to study before class because of the lack of explanation and information from the slides.
The first few days he would call on a lot of people, don't answer unless you want him to remember your name and call on you for the rest of the semester. He favorited all the males in nursing, so most likely all these five-star ratings are the boys in nursing. He the only GNUR150 professor even though he was on academic probation last year Goodluck
please please please avoid taking this class with Bruder. It is terrible... you will cry everyday and be extremely overwhelmed because of the thousands of slides that he provides. During his lecture he only reads of the slides. Exams are extremely hard. I lost so much throughout the semester due to the stress.
Do NOT take his class, he reads off the slides and does not explain the material well. He rushes trough everything and he talks so loud that it hurts your ears. Avoid taking this class with him (anatomy) or any other class to be honest. He is not a good teacher you can ask anyone!
If you are a shy person and don't like getting called on do not take this professor. He picks on you if he learns your name. IN his exams he puts unrelated content. Exams are multiple choice but they are extremely hard. He reads of the slides only, don't but the textbook you'll just be wasting your money.
i cried everyday because of how hard his class was. Plese try to take this class with another professor. taking it with him will be really bad. He doesn't explain content well, he moves on so quickly and expects you to learn everything so fast. He does not provide study guides and his office hours area always packed. Terrible professor.
Do not take this professor avoid him at all cost. I would honestly recommend anatomy and physiology with Mahaffey she is way better than Bruder. Bruder makes things 100 times more difficult than they already are. safe yourself
This professor is not only really tough at grading but he takes ages to grade your quizzes and exams. He won't let you know what quizzes are about and sometimes are unexpected :( He is very picky and picks on people.
Bruder is the most condescending professor you'll meet. I can't make this up, he told me it was impossible to get an A; still it got it anyway. :) He claims he only wants his students to succeed, yet never provides proper study guides for exams. Instead, he throws an overwhelming amount of content at you in a short period of time.
It crazy how the same people that are complaining, passed with an A. This professor is misunderstood. Some of the people commenting have never ONCE went to his office hours, or spoken to him. The course is rigorous & quick-paced. Go and speak to him, it makes a difference. He wants you to do well. Ask for help, when you need it. Give him a chance.
Bruder's class is challenging but engaging. He has a sarcastic style that keeps you on your toes. Attendance is a must - the content moves quickly. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for exam prep alongside the slides. Overall, a tough but rewarding course.
Professor Bruder is a knowledgeable and passionate instructor who truly knows his material. His lectures are packed with information, and he moves through the content quickly, so staying engaged and taking detailed notes is essential. While his fast-paced teaching style can be challenging at times, he explains complex concepts clearly.
Go to office hours it really provides extra help.
Dr. Bruder was my toughest professor by far. My biggest problem with him was when I had to get emergency surgery during finals week and he didn't even respond to my email. I emailed him 3 times before my surgery BEGGING to sign an incomplete form the nursing school gave me. He never signed it. I had to take the final right after surgery.
"Weed out" class that people might struggle with, but it changes how you study. Get to know him (OFFICE HOURS), put forth effort, study with others and you'll be fine. Scary at first, but a chill guy nonetheless. Grades depend on quizzes and exams, so manage time wisely. Craves perfection, but in reality accepts the best out of you.
Notorious to nursing students! I think he's a good guy, but not the best prof. He clicks through slides like there's no tomorrow, so its easy to be confused or overwhelmed. The exams are pretty difficult. However, he gave exam retakes, EC, and resurrection points. He cold calls and sometimes a pop quiz. He has high standards, but he's funny though
he's like engaging but in the way that you are stressed to get cold-called on, but not stressed enough where you can giggle at his jokes; tbf even if u get the question wrong he will pretend u got it right and hype u up; silly guy but like I would never take anatomy ever again; no to him as a professor, prolly a chill dude outside of school tho
if you have the option, do NOT take him
He loves to give pop quizzes, specifically open-ended/FRQ quizzes. Exams all have retakes, but he makes you come in at 7am on a Monday to take them. This class is already really difficult, and he seems to enjoy making his students miserable. I didn't have a choice, but if you can, avoid taking Bruder.
Dr. Bruder is a tough professor, he makes you work for your grades but he wants everyone to succeed, he has office hours 3 times a week and will add extra times he can meet with you. He doesn't make the class easy, but he has quizzes once a week and relies on class participation keeping you up on your studying. I have learned a lot this semester.
Anatomy is a difficult subject and Bruder does his best to make you understand. You have to work hard, go to office hours and study a lot but, it helped me learn how to actually study. Bruder is a funny professor and relies on the students for participation and making lectures engaging, so be actively involved in class and ask questions.
avoid this man at all costs
Put in effort towards studying and being prepared. GO TO OFFICE HOURS.
I got thrown into his anatomy class and it wrecked me. His sarcastic style and condescending remarks made it hard to learn. If you haven't taken anatomy before, it'll feel like a foreign language with no help. Weekly quizzes, 4 tough exams, and a cumulative final. Avoid if you can!
Dr. Bruder's lectures were mostly him moving through the slides fairly quickly with minimal explanations for questions. If you do not know how to study, search different methods and try them out until you find one that works for you. The content can add up quickly so start studying immediately after your lecture so you do not get behind.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!! One of the worst professors I've ever had, his SI taught the class more than he did, he rapid fires slides, doesn't teach at all and makes the class very overwhelming and on top on that loves to throw in pop quizzes. Only positives -retakes and no attendance mandatory
Great professor, would take again 100%. Class was easy; studied day before tests, lowest score was a B. Do Pearson homework and DSM but answers on slides. Tests every 3 weeks. Learn like a med student, pure memorization. Go to exam reviews, super helpful. He's funny, dry humor, unhinged. Cold calls but in a good way. Loved his class.
Idk why he has such a low rating. He is sarcastic and blunt but also really funny. There is a lot of work for this class and the tests are pretty hard. You get 3 attempts on the test so ends up not being horrible. Great at answering questions. Makes all the tests for the course so it helps to be in his section
He is awful at lecturing and goes through slides as quick as possible and will not explain thoroughly. The only plus about his class is his SI, if you can take a better professor.
His lectures are just him reading the slides. Sometimes he will actually give examples and explain the concepts but get ready to spend hours everyday studying on your own. He has a weird (dirty) sense of humor and makes people frequently uncomfortable. I will say his office hours are very accessible but he is not a good teacher.
I hate hate hate his class. How do you expect me to learn when all you do is spend 50 minutes of my time reading off the slides like I can't read with my perfectly good too eyes.
I don't even have him, but he sucks. Also, he runs the entire anatomy department which is why everything is so difficult. Fire him. Boo
DONT TAKE HIM
Great professor, don't let the bad reviews scare you! People just don't like him as much since he is a tough grader and expects more from his students in combination with having a dry sense of humor. def would recommend HE CARES ABT UR SUCCESS
