he tries to explain, but sometimes he confuses students even more...but he adds humor in the class...the test isnt bad if u attend the lectures

This guy is such a dork, it's adorable. I'm waiting for the day he busts out with the "Hip bone's connected to the leg bone" song. He explains things very clearly. The lab is pretty tough, so plan on studying. It's a lot of memorization. He's a good teacher.

He's a great teacher. He's willing to stay after class with you and help you out alot if you're a serious student. Plus he's funny as heck!

Covill makes the class very interesting and fun. He always have interesting stories. Biology is not the easiest course but I say Covill is the easiest Biology teacher compared to other bio teachers at Cerritos.

If you attend class the exams are super easy. He is really good with giving lengthy explanations to questions and he makes class really interesting and fun. He jokes around a lot and does tell cool stories. Take Covill and you'll always remember that biology matters!

good guy, will get an A if you study hard, good teacher, think he was sad cause people did badly but its not due to the material being hard, its due to not studying..people forget, in science you have to study, you can't coast to an A, his teaching is good and he cares

Covill is a very nice guy and he is willing to help his students as much as he can. All you have to do is STUDY! If you slack in the class you will fail. But if you do study it turns out to be pretty easy.

He gives study guide..Study hard. Show up to class everytime. Study hard. He makes it fun. He trys to keep class interesting. Anatomy can be boring. Tough topics to learn. Multiple choice exams. Know your material well. Take good notes. Quizzes once a week. Keeps u on your toes. You can get an A u gotta work for it though. Sweet and caring man

Mr. Covill is a great professor. He's nice, enegetic, enthusiastic and wants you to understand what you're learning. He definitely wants to help his students out. This class isn't easy, but if you put in the time and effort to read and study then it shouldn't be that extremly hard.

Cool teaher. Pretty funny and very clear on the material he is presenting. He has a quiz every week that is not too hard if you take about 15 to 20 mins 2 study. Make sure you study for the exams they count for A LOT of your grade. He makes a hard subject interesting.

He's a very helpful teacher, little reading for quizzes, but a lot of the material is based on his lectures. the animations he gives us is very helpful. his explainations are pretty clear.Highly reccomend him!

Makes the class very interestingand fun. I would highly recommend this teacher. Hardly used the book. I only used it to study for the tests.

really great class, I never enjoyed biology as much as this. really helpful, easy teacher over all. no need to use textbook, because all tests and quizes are from lecture notes.

I absolutely loved this man. Not only is he an excellent instructor, he is also a very kind and helpful individual. I highly recommend him. However, stay on top of the game; you must dedicate plenty of time to this class to be successful in it.

I'm not going to lie, this class is difficult, but what science class isn't! Mr. Covill is a great instructor, he wants to make sure you learn, grasp the concept and wants you to succeed. He is always willing to help. An A is attainable if you go over his power point and read the book. Best Anatomy instructor at Cerritos!!!

I was dreading to take a biology class but since I had to, I took this class & oh my god I wish I took the class sooner!! I HIGHLY reccomend it to everyone...the quizzes are sooo easy as long as you study the lecture notes. After the 1st month I realized you dont need to read the book. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!

I really like this teacher! Tests are easy and he makes complex things easy for the class! wonderful teacher!!! Take his class and you'll get an A for sure! if you study too of course ;)

he is the funniest teacher ever! (for some reason he reminds me of wheres waldo haha.) he teaches very well and anatomy is generally a hard subject. he trys to relate his topics on real-life situations as well.

Professor Covill is a really good teacher that tries his best for everyone to understand the material. I had fun in his class and as long as you study the material you'll do just fine....

Professor Covill is very informative and clear. He never surprised you, all the test questions were out of the notes, so you never had to guess at what you needed to know. There are only 4 tests, no homework, and a little extra credit towards the end. The book is useless, trust me, DON'T BUY IT, you won't need it!!!

HE IS A VERY GOOD TEACHER... I TOOK HIS CLASS TWICE BECAUSE THE SUBJECT IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND AND TO REMEMBER. EITHER FROM THAT HE IS A GOOD TEACHER HE IS SUPER FUNNY...

Does Mr. Covill give extra credits? Just took first A&P 150 exam and didn't seem to give any extra credit.

Professor Covill is a great teacher. By default, the class is difficult but he does his best to explain things in various ways (i.e. visuals, animations, drawings, examples...etc). Extremely helpful. He is also very very attractive ;)

The easiest science class I ever took. He's fair and easy to talk to. If he didn't mention it in lecture, it won't be on the exam or quizzes. He's so popular that it's almost impossible to get into his AP150 class but I'm glad he was my AP 120 Professor.

He likes for students to look alive and give feedback which is kind of uncommon in a lecture hall. As long as you take notes on what he is saying, and memorize them before tests than the class in manageable. His lectures are boring but try not to miss class because its hard trying to learn the material on your own. Form a study group.

Good teacher the class is hard but if you take good notes you will do good. i got B's in all the exams w/o the book just notes. get lab w Ryan Babiar great teacher also i got an A in lab with him

Outstanding Professor! Clearly presents material in lecture & lab. Uses humor to illustrate difficult concepts. Provides study guides that adequately prepare you for exams. Exams are straightforward, no tricks. Do study guides, go to office hours when needed, memorize & you will do great. 4 exams, 1 quiz/week in lab & 3 practicum. I got an A =)

MR COVILL IS A GREAT TEACHER.THE STUDY GUIDES HE GIVES ARE GOOD TOOLS TO HELP PREPARE FOR EXAMS AND I REALLY THINK HE CARES ABOUT THE SUCCESS OF HIS STUDENTS.HOWEVER I THINK THAT AP 120 IS A MUST BEFORE TAKING THIS CLASS.

Wish he was teaching AP 151 next semester because I love his teaching style. I passed with an A after much effort, and I am super proud of that accomplishment; it wouldn't have been possible without his great organization, humor, and helpful study guides. He only covers what he talks about in class on the exams so dont waste your time otherwise.

He is funny, charming, and helpful. Although very nerdy.

He is a very fun instructor and very clear as to what he is looking for. He is not like most who will just discard your incorrect asnwer just because he is the instructor. He listens to your arguement and if you state a great one, he gives you points. I have had a nerd crush on him since 2007 and think he is quite attractive.

good teacher. very silly and fun with his teaching. just make sure to study study study or you will not get a good grade. the class is just overall difficult but he makes it bareable.

He is more animated and comical then your average science teacher. Id take him for any science class if you need it and he's teaching it.

Mr. Covill is an awesome instructor! His door is always open if you need help. His study guides are the most helpful for midterms. Hint he will give u the answers if you at least attempt them. Do those and you will do well in the class. Weekly quizes in lab are tedious but are helpful. Funny guy, total nerd & bonus ladies he's nice on the eyes.

Take Covill, He is great. His studyguides are a bit long, but clear. He is pen and board so you can understand the concept. He is crystal clear and more than helpful. Makes the class seem easy, when it is a difficult subject to grasp. He makes every question seem like a good question and is very helpful. Would take him again if I could!

Great teacher will go out of his way to help you. He's always willing to help you during office hours. This is a hard course so taking with an instructor who truly tries and cares, really makes a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE. He does make mistakes sometimes though so just double check all your graded work and GO TO OFFICE HOURS! it really helps.

The BEST professor at Cerritos College. He is very helpful with his study guides, and makes a hard class seem easy. He takes the time and goes out of his way to meet with you if you have questions. I am taking him now for physiology and I am so glad I found the perfect teacher for such a hard subject. Take his class, you will have no regrets.

He is a HUGE dork, but great professor!! He helps you as much as he can, he gives of x.c (only once though) I am a little bummed that he is teaching AP 151! :( Overall great teacher :)

He is kind of silly, but the silliness keeps the class engaged. Complete the study guide; understanding it will make the exams easier. Take advantage of his office hours. He is extremely helpful and goes over the study guide if needed then.

For a college level class Professor Covill makes it so interesting and fun. Keeps lectures from being boring, labs aren't easy but are fun. Study, study, study, and you should do well. Highly recommended

Very clear, concise lectures, combining powerpoint and board notesdrawings. Seems acutely aware of how to keep students engaged, and posts online quizzes with 2-3 attempts for passing. 5 exams, multi-choice, not an easy A, but if you study his powerpoints and take good notes, good grades are possible. Very helpful, highly recommend.

He is hilarious in lecture and makes learning this stuff fun. But you got to be on top of your game to pass with an A. You have to be proactive and do all his study guides and maybe lots of study groups before the exams!

He is a very helpness teacher and fair for grading. Anatomy is a tough class and extra work you need, but he makes you laugh and understand easily. He is always with you. He respond even if you email him on weekend. Attending classes, reading textbook and his lecture slides, you can get good grade in this class. Highly recommend!

Great Great teacher sad that he is not giving AP 151 this semester his class filled up very fast. He always makes sure the students are engaged. I didn't have to study the book for lucture , but needed for lab for the pictures. Just study the study guids and the notes that he writes on the board for the exams and you will get an A.

This class isn't difficult at all if you have the time to study. I had a really hard time in it only because I was working full time, have a 1 year old daughter and was taking 8 units during the Spring 2015 semester. He gives you study guides for the tests which are multiple choice. Funny guy and cares about students. Very approachable. Got a B.

Covill is absolutely hilarious; i never dosed off in his class. The tests are very simple, straightforward, and easy. The things that irked me was how behind we were and how he babied everyone (college students should be able to figure out how to use talonnet and calculate grades on their own).

I took Professor Covill a long time ago for all his A&P classes I absolutely loved the way he taught the class. He makes are to be there for you and with anything you need help with. He knows his material well that he knows how to make it understandable even for those not in a science major. I highly recommend him he's one of the best professors!!!

Maintained an A . One of the BEST science professors . Very involved , I can tell this is not just a "job" for him .Easy to understand. Always had power points on his website for extra assistance. Students did not want to miss his class because of how much fun it was .My second time biology 120 and is a blessing I found this Professor. TAKE!!!!

Let me start by saying that Covill was such a great prof. He would answer questions, respected everyone, and did his best to help you. With that being said this class was freaken intense. Exams were difficult and very detailed. Goodluck!

I loved professor Covill. He is such a nerd, I thought he was so cute. Super nice, approachable teacher. I always went to see him during his office hours if i needed help, plus he was always really quick responding to my emails. Don't get me wrong he is such an amazing teacher, but this class is freaking hard. You have to memorize so much! STUDY!!

Overall amazing professor. He knows his stuff and is obviously very passionate about biology in general and what he does. Provides good feedback and extremely helpful and involved with students. Very understanding and pretty straightforward. Attend class, take good notes to study, and talk to him! He'll help you pass. Would take again.

A pleasure to have as a teacher. I loved going to his class. He's funny and knows his stuff well. Hard class but he makes it fun and interesting. I would take the class again if it's him.

If you are taking Bio 120 for lab he is the professor to go to. In lecture the professor mcnulty would skim through things too quick which made lectures difficult to grasp. But once I had Lab i would get everything. Covil will make you love bio120 , you will have quizzes everyday but what will be on the test is gone over in class.

He's very enthusiastic about teaching his students about Biology. You can tell he loves teaching the material. The weekly quizzes are easy. Just show up and pay attention to the material. He made biology easy to understand. I wish all my professors were like him.

I took botany in the Spring of 2017. The quality of education I received was amazing and I doubt that quality will ever be replicated. He is very knowledgeable and doesn't try to make his class more difficult than necessary. His lectures help clarify complex topics, 10/10 would recommend this class. Would take it again.

He is such a great Lab Professor. I just wished if he can do Lecture and Lab together and it would've been great. He gives you all of the materials needed to pass the class. He really makes learning fun and you always feel like going to his class. He's a giant goofball (silly) but he really cares about the material being taught. I really enjoyed his class I wish I could take him for all my classes.

He hasn't taught A&P in 6 years (he was messy) but was still so knowledgable! Always used relatable analogies, accommodated to students' needs, funny, and understanding. Took him for lab & lecture and this was my favorite class ever. Many students struggled in his class but anatomy requires a ton of memorization so you have to put in the work

A really nice and caring professor that wants his students to learn and succeed. The class itself is a lot of work so you need to study well. Even with everything that happened (with Covid-19) he was understanding and helped out with anything. Had various office hours and his lectures were well taught, an overall great professor, I recommend.

Amazing! Hes so passionate and cares about students a lot. Online labs are easy and the exams and quizzes arent overly hard. Weekly quizzes and 4 exams and provides extra credit.

Great anatomy professor! Weekly Quizzes are super simple. Exams are harder but not extremely challenging. Super easy homework assignments. Only downside is that you Need a $100 access code for the homework.

lectures are informative and useful when it comes to exams. He is very clear with what he wants in his exams/lab quizzes. Very confusing once you start because of all the work that is given to you but you manage to get in the routine of things which makes it easier. He is very kind and generous! Any anat class is difficult just have to put in work.

He's strategic on teaching his students. I can tell he put a lot of effort in lectures and truly wants you to learn. Some lectures are lengthy but it's worth it because it helps to build your fundamental knowledge. You won't regret taking him as long as you watch all the lectures and do the study guide. He's really good.

Hes good and all but now that we are reaching the ending of the semester he just piles on the work. He posted work to do during spring break and the tests are nonstop. There are quizzes every Wednesday , and lecture exams every month. Hes not horrible just a heavy work load and lots of videos you have to watch and heavy reading involved

Clear breakdown of tests for lab/lecture, especially how many questions per subject. If something is NOT on the study guide, it WONT be on tests. Only covers material he feels is pertinent, so he trims the fat on some subjects. He cares about students success, office hours are helpful. Very energetic, to make the class enjoyable. Highly recommended

One of the best professors ever. He is super funny and energetic which keeps the lectures interesting. He will respond to emails and will help after every lecture if needed. I wish I didn't slack off towards the end of the semester, which is something you should avoid at all costs because the info taught is definitely important to know.

He is the sweetest and funny professor and is willing to listen. I just do not recommend taking it if you are taking a lot of other classes and are working because I could not have time to finish many of the study guides.

Professor Covill is really passionate and tries his best to make you passionate as well. Class was super fun. Lab was super fun. Class is not super easy but definitely not overwhelming. Overall had a great time and I would definitely take this professor again.

Fun class with a few field trips sprinkled in at the end! Several lecture and lab exams scattered throughout the course that require a little studying to do well. There are weekly quizzes to ensure you stay on task, but they are not that bad. A good class to take if you need it as a GE, fun and easy. Offers a lot of extra credit as well.

Textbooks + Attendance are NOT required, but they are VITAL. Missing lecture is not an option because the powerpoint slides do not make sense on their own. He can be very disorganized at times (hops from PPT to PPT in between 1 lecture = hard to keep all info in one). Pay attention during lectures!!

Professor Covill did an excellent job at helping me to learn and understand Anatomy. He goes into great detail about certain areas that make it easy to retain. Aside from that, he offers a lot of extra credit opportunities that I suggest everyone take advantage of. I feel well prepared going into Physiology after finishing his class.

Retook his lecture class for Fall 2024. He is a great professor and I would recommend him to anyone. His grading isn't just about exams, it includes some assignments he gives on canvas too. He also gives about 10 extra credit opportunities which helps your final grade. He provides objectives for each exam which are based off the lectures.

One of my favorite professors of all time. Absolutely amazing when it comes to lectures and explains a lot of the anatomy very well. Landed with a C unfortunately since I forgot 3 assignments but easily can be made up with extra credit he gives throughout the semester.

matt covill is one of the best professors i've ever had was late to a lab exam and he still let me take it he's really sweet and cares about the students if u study the objective questions u will get an easy A i rlly like him! he makes memorable analogies, if ur gonna take anatomy def do it w him ur lecture grade matters a lot tho so beware

Always tries to make concepts easy to understand. Has detailed study guides for every lecture which prepares you well for the exam. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Not as many assignments. Reading textbook was not required because all he wants you to know will usually be in the lectures and slides. He loves participation and questions r welcome

The exams were straightforward there was lots of new information to learn but he always made it easier to grasp! Genuinely the coolest guy ! He always offered extra credit on exams and assignments to boost your grade ! Pay good attention to his lectures and take good notes and you'll be fine. I recommend taking his class !!
