Great Professor. I am really enjoying the class... fairly easy. One big paper (12 pages) but is VERY helpful. Very interesting person! I am enjoying the class a lot!
Great teacher! Requires alot of work but is very interesting and he is more than willing to help you understand the concepts. Also keeps the class exciting with his great sense of humor.
One of my favorite profs at GVSU. Very, very good teacher, very helpful, and very easy to get along with, making the class that much more enjoyable. A lot of reading to do, but he ties the material together quite well, making the class interesting.
Dr. Daley is a great prof. Nice, easy to talk to and personable. Has a slightly wacky sense of humor, but loves his subject and his job. Grade is based on papers and weekly quiz. Lots of reading, but nothing too hard. Take him; he's great entertainment, knowledgeable, fun, and not bad on the eyes.
Very knowledgable teacher who makes class interesting and worth showing up for. Only professor I've ever had who treats teaching like a real job. Great office hours and always willing to help. Lots of reading but incorporates that into class lecture to reiterate the main pts.
Dr. Daley is awesome! By far one of the greatest profs at GVSU. He's smart, witty, and charismatic. He does require a lot of work, but hey, this is college. He always reenforces the concepts in the book with lectures, but doesn't just repeat the book. He's my new favorite prof.
Great prof. You can tell that he loves to talk about history. I've seen him get sidetracked on a history topic and know more about it than other history teachers who prepared a lesson. Lots of readnig but it flows from one book to the next. Quizzes are not bad & I came away from class satisfied.
Great Prof, loves what he teaches and wants his students to succeed. I would definitely recommend him to anyone interested in History. I hope GV keeps him around for awhile, he makes the History department much cooler!
There's sort of a lot of work involved with the class, but he's a cool professor. He really wants everyone to get an A in the class so he helps out a lot. He's not too hard of a grader either, I would definately recommend him.
Great Prof! Dr. Daley does a great job explaining everything and grades you so that you can improve, not just a check mark on the top of the page. Very helpful and loves what he does so you don't get bored!
It so hard not to get an A. He has a quiz every week but he doesnt have midterms or finals and the quizzes are really easy. Do the reading or look at the questions he posts and you'll do fine. Papers are easy as well. Nice guy, funny, alittle on the odd side though.
Great Prof. You will learn A LOT from him. He's incredibly passionate about his work and the subject and is very approachable, he is always available to help in any way. He actually cares about your academic progress in his class. Be prepared for a bit of reading though!
Although he initially comes across as tough and rigid, he's a generous prof, who cares about how well you do in the class. He isn't out to get you, or to weed out the less- interested. He's passionate about what he teaches and that enthusiasm pervades every lecture. Highly recomended. Higly.
Good class. Professor has interesting opinions and worthwhile essays.
Very interesting class and he has a grest sence of humor
Prof. respects student intelligence, quick responses to emails, phone calls. He likes broad question quizzes (can only help you) and isn't out of touch with students. An excellent prof with many years of quality teaching ahead of him. One long paper assign, but broken down so it's not so difficult.
Fabulous man, great sense of humor, wigged out on coffee, what more can you ask for? Plus, there is something so attractive about a smart, tenacious, guy-next-door prof. Combine all that with a razor sharp memory for history and a nice wiggle when he writes on board, he's got my vote for best prof
A Brilliant, quirky fellow who is very into his job--the readings are really great as well as the lectures. Make sure you are a decent writer if you take him, or willing to do alot of rewrites
Great professor. Usually willing to help you out. He gets really stressed towards the end of the semester so get your rewrites done early! Takes forever to get papers back so that doesn't help at all either. Overall though I would recommend him!
A great teacher. If your interested in history you will like this class. If you want a challenging writing class with plenty of help this is the one your looking for. Be ready to read, read, read and read some more. Over all a great class to help your writing skills.
Had -no- interest in taking this class again, but he made it fascinating. Incredible mind, great humor, good tester, and gives challenging paper assignments. You wouldn't believe how helpful this guy is even when he's swamped. Wish I hadn't panicked on the papers - I would have liked to take away a good grade from his class. Thumbs way, way up!
Enjoyed this class very much. It was a tough one because I took it in the summer, so the readings were a lot of work. The readings were mostly interesting and it was a great class. Enjoyed learning about how to research history. Highly recommend this prof, but maybe as a fall or winter class.
Took as an indy study, I would highly recommend. He is the one to have for Urban hst, American or MI hst. Readings were at an appropriate level. Plus, the man is amazingly intelligent. He keeps a big picture focus on history, and he DOES have a razor sharp memory. This was my 3rd semester with him and if I could take more classes w/ him I would.
A very good prof. I enjoyed the class and he has a tremendous amount of knowledge to pass along. Highly recommended.
Prof. Daley is a serious scholar. His knowledge of the specifics of MI history are incredible. Very helpful and bends over backwards to explain himself. Lots of lecture and reading, but that's what you get with a history major. Just don't leave your quiz ?s blank. Would take him again if possible.
Professor Daley treats students like real people and real scholars...so you will do a ton of reading and a lot of work. However, I think it's in a good way; he's not doing it to be a jerk, he just wants you to really get something. Gets off topic quite a bit, but he's fascinating to listen to.
When he says "i'm a cheerful sadist" at the beginning of the course, he isn't lying. 150 pages plus of reading a week to be graded in a 12 point weekly quiz, but he's a fascinating prof. You will learn more then you will ever need to know, but sometimes on obscure topics. Only take this class if you want to work hard. He's always willing to help
one of the best in the GV history department. LOTS of reading, but if you are sensible you can pick and choose what to read. He gives quizzes every week, but as long as you fill them in with semi-intelligent responses your fine (more of an attendance indicator). Willing to help always. On that note, he is a cheerful sadist, but the class is grea
He is by far the best professor I have had at GVSU. He gives interesting lectures and always allows for class interaction. There's a lot of reading, but its interesting reading not just textbook stuff. Daley is very encouraging and will do so much to help his students succeed. I definately recommend this class!
Professor Daley is a REALLY good professor! There is a lot of reading to do but if you get the topics you kind of can skim off of the top. The essays are interesting topics and he manages to connect everything you learned earlier in the semester together. I think he's brilliant! Take him if you can!
Daley is an excellent professor. I highly recomend that you take him. There is a lot of reading dont get overwhelmed by it. The information you learn throughout the semester interesting. His class is full of valueable information and he allow the class to talk and disscuss alot of the information that you learn about. Take him if AT all possible
Great prof, this was the second time I had him and he did a great job again...I would definitely recommend him. The readings can be intense, but if you dont always get to them it doesnt really matter...we had 4 papers, each 4 pages, so they werent impossible...take him for sure!
Daley is awesome! I thoroughly enjoyed going to class and listening to the "Jolly Sadist." He always has a line of people outside his office, I think we should all pitch in and buy him one of those “take a number” dispensers that they have at meat markets and the Secretary of State. He would think that was just “Sunshine and Lollipops!”
very knowledgable
Dr. Daley is a great professor! I have him right now and we are doing a 25 page research essay hes great with helping you out at office hours and a great speaker in class he keeps you excited about the class. Id take him again
is this matthew daley jennifers brother????amanda
Extremely interesting prof. and is really funny. Can tell great stories all hour, though you might get a little off track. but you will love going to his class. Gives you 3 options of how you want to do the work in class. a 25 page paper/8 page paper with 2 lesson plans/4 5-7 page papers. excellent prof. that I would recommend to anyone!!
Great person. Or as he would say "everything is sunshine and lollipops". Lots of reading but acceptable. No exams so the reading is not bad. Very helpful and cute!
Prof. Daley is probably my favorite professor so far. He can get a little off topic with stories and rants, but I didn't mind at all because they were so interesting. Some boring readings, but mostly interesting. Great prof, would love to have him again!
This prof is excellent. There is a lot of reading but no exams. Just a couple papers. He is a pretty reasonable/ easy grader, if you need an SWS take this class. I hate history and he made it very entertaining.
you have to show up for class because he takes attendence and it's a lot easier to try to keep up with the readings (there's a lot and you need the books) because you'll need to know all about it when you write your papers. Goes off topic every once in a while but he's very helpful when you're writing your papers. Good prof for an SWS
The class is alot of work, you have a lot of quizess but he grades them pretty easily and as long as you do the readings you should Ace the quiz. He gives you three options i did option three which was four papers 2-4page and 2-seven page and you dont have to take the final. He was extremely helpful with drafts and is very passionate keeps u engaged
Yes you have to read a lot in order to get the most out of the class. Yes the final projects are hard work. Is it worth it? Absolutely. Prof. Daley was hilarious and a total joy to have for a professor. Nerd hot, too! :D
Professor Daley is an amazing professor. He has a bit of a dark, snarky sense of humor; which is probably why I liked him so much. Lots of readings, and a difficult research paper at the end. But Daley made the class easy, and was incredibly helpful. If you are interested in majoring in history, Daley is a must.
It's one of those rare classes that felt worth it. There is a ton of reading but if you get through it then you'll do great. The essays can be somewhat difficult but all the sources you need are from his readings. Great teacher one of the best that I have ever had.
I took his 6-9 class and it was great. We did go the whole 3 hours every week but it felt like we were there for an hour. He has such a great teaching style. He will help you with anything during class or in his office hours. Knows how to keep his students interested. Best prof at GVSU so far. I recommend him to anybody history major or not!!
Had him for 206 last year as well. Great professor, decided to take him again for 327...same deal. Explains things very well, and shows students both sides of the spectrum. Lots of reading, but stick with it. I got a LOT out of his class.
This class was ALOT of work you have tons of reading and you have to buy thebooks he quizzes u on them every thursday. U get rewrites on the 3 papers wich really helps. This class is very tough but I learned alot and I really Professor daley he is very good at what he does. I think you will really like this class, but be prepared to do some reading
TAKE PROFESSOR DALEY!!! He is by the far the best professor I have ever had here at GV. The class is difficult, there is a ton of reading (we had 7 books), and several papers but if you stay on track, pay attention, complete all the reading, and put time into your papers it is possible to get an A in this class, even if history isn't your favorite.
Daley is a great TEACHER. Let me emphasize that. TEACHER! He TAUGHT! He's extremely helpful with papers and he definitely made me a better writer. His lectures were always interesting (LOVE his accents). You have to do work though. You have to do a lot of reading and a lot of writing but I feel better prepared for my other classes now.
the BEST professor @ GV! hmwk not bad 7 texts + BB readings very easy to understand great sense of humor, actor quality about him.Veitnam, MI urban HST his speciality. Weekly quiz and 3.5 papers. No test.
Daley was the BEST teacher I've ever had during my 4 years at GVSU. I would recommend taking his class to anyone taking a history course. There is a lot of required readings, but they all are important to the content of his lectures. Really funny guy, class always went by fast. Professor Daley was awesome!
Dr. Daley is very knowledgeable, easy to approach, and willing to help. Attendance is important because he has weekly quizzes and random in class assignments. The extra work sometimes slows down the process of getting papers back. Lectures are interesting and the reading is manageable. I would take Dr. Daley again.
Interesting guy. There's a lot of required reading and quizzes on the material but it's not bad. No tests, only papers. I thought the class was overall pretty easy.
Professor Daley is truly one of a kind. He will do anything to make his students successful and he will work with you no matter what your circumstances. Weekly quizzes are a breeze, there is a lot of reading but just skim and get the main ideas. His papers are challenging but he will help you if you need it. He's always jacked up on coffee!
Prof. Daley is an amazing professor! He is always energized and makes the class interesting with his little side comments that are hilarious! I would recomend him to ANYONE that needs a hst class!
Awesome, one of my favorite Prof yet. Tells you exactly what he wants on papers and once you do that you should be fine. A lot of reading but one of most interesting classes I took. Highly recommended as makes classes fun with high energy and a funny guy
Stud.....nuff said. Take him. Amazing teacher and so helpful. Truly one of few who cares about his students. Best money I have spent in college yet.
Wonderful professor. He made lecture interesting and class was worthwhile to come to. Little hard on grading but he makes time to help you out on papers. Absolutely one of the better professors I have had at GV all my 3 years thus far. If you get the chance, TAKE HIM!!
Great Professor! He requires you do alot of reading, but if you keep up on it his class is a cake walk, he is always excited to teach. And he genuinely cares about his students doing well in class.
Hands down, one of the best professors I have ever had at GV. He loves what he does, is incredibly knowledgeable, really funny, and genuinely cares about his students and wants them to well. I definitely recommend taking him :)
Prof. Daley is awesome! If you are a history major, or not, take a class of his. He is incredible!
He is totally enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Knows so much he's like an encyclopedia! I took his history of michigan class. Not a blow-off class, but not so hard you can't enjoy yourself too. Very fair with clear expectations. Cares about his students and will help you if you ask. Oh, and he's kinda hot in an older-guy, nerdy but cute kinda way.
He is one of my favorite teachers, he is so interestesting and makes learning fun. He grades based on your abilty and understanding. He is a wonderful teacher, he reminds me of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory- he knows just too much stuff. :) make sur you read and take notes. :)
Dr. Daley was great! He gives a quiz each week but grades them really easy. The readings can be rather strenuous. Gives you options as to what kind of writing assignments you want. Gives good feedback. Lectures are very fun and interesting. Is an encyclopedia on the state of Michigan.
one of the most inspiring professors I've had in my college career. He teaches the deeper meaning behind history. He's passionate about the subject and knows how to teach it. I strongly encourage to get to know him. His motto is "trust and verify" so if you make an effort in his class and he notices he will do everything his power to help you.
Okay, Daley is an awesome person, but man, I hated the work involved in his Michigan history class. The amount of readings due each class was frustrating, and there's a quiz every week to make sure you did them. I didn't care for the subject either, might as well as been history of cars. He's fun to talk to though, and very helpful.
Prof Daley is GREAT! I am in the Michigan History class at 8:30am and I am always excited to go. He makes class very interesting. There is a lot of reading you have to do each week but if you space it out during the week it is not bad. He is handsome too, so you can't complain!
Make sure to go over the review questions in the syllabus before the weekly quizzes, and do the big assignments and you should easily get an A or B. Daley's energy and enthusiasm took a topic I had little interest in, and made it tolerable.
Matt Daley knows his stuff and is crystal clear about his expectations. The class is challenging but not hard. Apply yourself and you will do well. He wants you to do well and tells you exactly how to do so. Danielle Lake is the only other professor I've had who likes his job as much as he does. Take him if you want to learn something.
Professor Daley is possibly one of my favorite professors at GVSU. He keeps the class engaged and has great insight into what he is teaching. He is always willing to stay after class for long hours and is always willing to help you in his office. He is one of the professors i always recommend for any history class he teaches
Professor Daley was by far one of my favorite professors at GVSU in my 4 years here. He always keeps the class engaged and is very insightful on the topics he is teaching. He is more than willing to help anyone after class or in his office. I recommend taking any class he teaches, you will not be disappointed. Make sure you go to class though.
Daley runs a tight ship but if you work within the framework he sets and follow along with lectures the material comes intuitively. Touches on a broad spectrum of topics and issues. Writing assignments are very thoughtful and intriguing.
Professor Daley is honestly the greatest professor I have had at GVSU. He is so passionate, energetic, and knowledgeable professors at the university. He is honestly concerned and cares about not only your grade, but you as a person. He is not only an amazing professor but a truly kind person.
I am amazed that some Ivy League college hasn't snapped him up and I wish I could take more of his classes.
Professor Daley is honestly the greatest professor I have had at GVSU. He is so passionate, energetic, and knowledgeable professors at the university. His knowledge is inspiring and motivates you to want to give your very best for his class. I am grateful for professors like him that make attending school seem worth it.
Professor Daley is unpretentious, fun, passionate, gives clear expectations, always willing to help, and will work to help you succeed rather than prove he knows more than you. He has been the biggest help to me as a History student in the GVSU department. You will read a lot, but you will learn a lot and have a great time doing it. He's the best!
Great Professor. I miss attending his lectures, very interesting and informative on the topics covered and always has a way to make the topic seem understandable to the student. Makes sure to put passion in what he teaches and always strives to make every lecture great. Office hours are very helpful, truly wants to improve your grade.
Daley is passionate and I enjoyed having him teach. I would take him again. I had to read a lot and the class was slightly difficult. However, his class benefited me greatly and I would do it again.
We didn't take one single exam! :D Instead we just had online essay quizzes every week which he graded very easy. We had one big semester project to do at the end of the semester. He gave us a list of topics to choose from. Won't pass if you don't do the final project bc it's basically your whole grade! He talks a lot but I recommend! Easy prof!!
Professor Daley is one of my favorite professors at Grand Valley. He took a boring topic and made it so much more interesting. He is very passionate about his work and it showed. He was willing to help in any way he could. No tests, but one semester project. Would definitely take him again!
A lot of reading assignments, but they're usually very interesting and the discussions about them rock. He's super funny and approachable and is always jazzed about what he's talking about.
Professor Daley is my favorite professor at GVSU thus far. He is very easy to pay attention to and offers help whenever you may need it. The class did have a lot of reading but it's not necessarily mandatory and he is a pretty easy grader. Highly recommend!
This class was so much fun. Professor Daley is funny, caring, and very lenient on grading -- he truly wants you to succeed. The majority of the work in this class is focused around an extensive research project, but don't let it overwhelm you. He is super helpful and it's almost impossible to not do well in this class.
Had a blast in this class. Professor Daley is an awesome professor. The majority of class grades are essay based, as well as an end of the semester presentation. His lectures and class discussion is lively and fun. He is willing to help, and extremely passionate about his job. Highly recommend him!
I had Dr. Daley for a 6 week summer class, and it was awesome. He is a great professor, and is passionate about what he's teaching. Also, his lectures are always interesting. I would recommend Dr. Daley to anyone !
The class I had with Professor Daley was heavily based on attendance. There was a lot done in class that contributed to the overall grade. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. He takes history and makes it easy to learn while honestly having a lot of fun.
He is super caring and passionate about what he teaches. He is very respectful and funny. The class isn't too hard, there are just a few papers you have to write. I am not a big fan of history and he made it fun and enjoyable.
Cant say enough good things about Daley. One of the most understanding professors out there. Lectures are interesting and he is extremely passionate. He expects a lot out of you but genuinely wants you to do well in class. He is extremely down to earth and truly cares about your education and success.
Professor Daley is my favorite professor that I've ever had. He is extremely knowledgable about the topics that he teaches, and he makes it obvious that he is passionate about it as well. I was never bored during class because his lectures were so interesting, and the work load that he assigns is not bad at all. I would highly recommend Daley.
BEST HONORS SEQUENCE! He is very well-rounded and his knowledge has no limits. You will definitely look at things a lot differently after taking his class. Professor Daley was very engaging during lecture. Online quiz every week on reading (easy points), no tests, mid-term or final. Easy graded papers on semester long project and walking tours.
Great professor, I really enjoyed his class! Nice guy who really cares about his students! I would definitely take his class again! Highly recommend!
Was a really great and fun teacher. Super flexible and understanding if you talk with him about any issues. You either do a presentation at end of year or 3 paper portfolio which both are worth 60% of grade, but he isn't a harsh grader. Participate in discussions and keep up with readings and it's am easy A.
Professor Daley was one of the nicest, most interesting professors I have ever had. He is really passionate about the subjects he teaches and is very knowledgeable about many different topics. He can get a little off topic sometimes, and his lectures can be long, but he is very understanding and lenient on deadlines if you need a little extra time.
I loved Dr Daley! He is an amazing professor & is very understanding of your personal life & will accommodate to your needs when necessary. Do not take him for granted. Although there's lots to read, don't worry about not finishing them tbh. There's online weekly written resp quizzes and 3 papers based off the readings w many in-class discussions.
LOTS of reading and HOURS worth of videos every week. He's a really nice guy who is passionate about history, but the class was not worth it. Too much work for a 100 level class. No exams which was nice. Three papers. Grading criteria for papers is absolutely brutal. Weekly quizzes. I learned a lot, but bc of the amount of work, I do not recommend.
Dr. Daley is an amazing professor & is very understanding & will accommodate your needs when necessary. He makes a project for this class broken up into chunks. Allows for revisions on the papers & attend Zoom meetings bc they help clarify any confusion. Participation is key contributing to discussion boards and doing the weekly reading quizzes.
I took this class as gen Ed. It seems he grades more on participation and not the actual content. very caring and understanding also knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches which made the class more interesting. I overall loved how easy this class was. Easy A. Also very clear grading and gives good feedback on assignments!
Owe this man a tremendous thank you. He was very understanding of some circumstances that were out of my hands and worked with me, leaving me able to pass with a straight B. Very kind and seems to genuinely care about his students. Cool guy!
Professor Daley is easily one of the best professors I've ever had at GV. He is so kind and very understanding with various different circumstances. He is also incredibly intelligent you can tell by the way he talks. He is also so helpful, if you just ask for help or clarification he goes above and beyond compared to other professors. Take him!!!
Dr. Daley has a high score and rightfully so. Never had a more compassionate professor. This class has a lot of interesting and valuable read/watch material which he expects you to incorporate into discussion boards, quizzes, and papers. If you do your work, there is no reason to get a bad grade.
Professor Daley is super nice and cares a lot about his students. He understands what we are going through and those struggles. However, there is a LOT of reading for this course. The reading is long and boring and takes up a lot of time. However, the assignments for this class are pretty straightforward and easy to complete.
Professor Daley is the most genuine, kind, compassionate, and empathetic professor I have ever had in my entire college career. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed above all else. If you show you are trying your best, you will definitely get an A. You will not regret having him as a prof, would love to take him again!
It is a very interesting class and he pours a lot of work and energy to make it engaging. However, theres a lot of books to purchase and online reading materials. Its a little much for 1 class when your taking others. It can also get boring. Theres a lot of papers as well, but not too bad. Youll get a good grade if you do the work and show up!
I do not fully believe full attention in class is needed to succeed. Professor Daley can talk the whole time and for a 3-hour class, it is not for me.
Professor Daley is an engaging instructor, who has interesting lectures. You will read and analyze a lot of text and there are lots of writing assignments through informal and formal essays. You do have to do all assigned readings as you are quizzed on them weekly and they are incorporated into class discussions. Do the work and come to class.
Professor Daley was probably the best professor I have had at GVSU so far. He is very knowledgeable on many topics and gives great lectures that are interesting and engaging. Above all, he seems like a genuinely great person that cares about his student's success and is always willing to help. A lot of reading but that is normal for a 300 class.
He is an awesome professor, very excited about his work and was really fun to work with over the semester
Be prepared to do a lot of assignments, however they are usually simple and important to the class objectives. One of my all time favorite professors, makes history fun and exciting to learn about. He is very involved with his students and will make sure everyone is on track to learn. Do your work and you will receive an A.
Although it's a boring subject, he knows what he's talking about and loves teaching it. He is very respectful and will help students any time of the day. Do the quizzes because answering those questions is how you will learn and be able to keep up in class.
Professor Daley is truly so great. He is so enthusiastic about teaching. Also, such an understanding person and is always so accommodating. Don't take his kindness for granted, because it would be a shame. Honestly do the work and try because he really gets that everyone does things differently. Really would take again, such a great person.
Best professor I've ever had! He's very witty and truly cares for his students and really wants them to succeed. He made this class a breeze and I suck at history. If you are struggling he will be more than happy to work with you. There is a lot of reading and weekly quizzes, no midterm, and a final group project. show effort and you will be fine.
Prof Daley is a sweet prof the genuinely cares about his students. The only book you need for this course is the revolution book. There isn't that much homework maybe one or two assignments a week. Overall a pretty good class. Also there are no tests and there is a quiz once a week and it is open note and you have the whole week to do it.
Take Professor Daley! He is very organized and wants you to succeed. He does assign a lot of reading, however it is usually interesting.
Professor Daley was a good professor for the most part. There is A LOT of readings for this class and online reading quizzes every week to go with them. There are a good amount of papers as well. He is an EXTREMELY slow grader so don't expect to know your grade in the class until the last week. Lectures are boring unless you really enjoy history.
Professor Daley is a great teacher who truly cares about what he is teaching and he cares about his students. He is very compassionate and understanding and is not a hard grader. Not too much work comes from this class.
Took the class earlier this year and boy was it tough, but so worth it. He cares about your success and will reach out and help. Took a late class so motivation was hard and but he always gave you a chance to catch up. The lectures were engaging and we used the textbooks and learned from them. Overall it was a difficult but worth it.
Pretty easy class. Weekly quizzes but only 6 questions and not timed. A group project throughout the semester that he's good at explaining. Knowledgeable about what he's talking about.
The class wasn't hard just a lot of readings, a few writing assignments, and a group project that spans the whole semester. I just didn't really vibe with him, his personality is definitely... unique. Overall good professor could honestly just be a me problem.
Professor Daley is one of my favorite professors at Grand Valley! He not only cares about students individually (he's very kind and is accommodating if there are problems with due dates or personal matters) but he also cares about the content he teaches. His lectures are easy to follow and match with assigned readings to further understanding.
Matthew Daley is a very educated, qualified professor. There are a lot of readings, and most homework will fall on weekends. I did not enjoy this class because it felt like he was talking down to us to whole time. Lectures are repetitive and long winded. It wasn't a good fit for me but works for others.
Cares a lot about his students and respects the amount of work put in to create an understanding of industrial achieve
He cares about his profession and his students. If you ever need him to look at a paper or make him aware of any issues you have he is availble. The class is well done and useful, the skills are practical and so is the way he teaches them. Stand up guy and a great class. Be open and patient, he can come off as abrasive but he is amazing.
Professor Daley spent most of the class time ranting to us about something he disliked, rather than teaching. He assigned a couple of papers a week. You are also given a project that is over the entire semester. His grading is nice but the work is not nice LOL.
Professor Daley truly cares about students' success. While the class has a decent workload, he's understanding and helpful. I found Unstuck AI and the free textbook super useful for staying on top of the weekly quizzes. Overall, a rewarding experience.
Daley is clearly passionate about this class and is more than willing to help students to succeed. He was very accessible outside of class and worked with students when assignment due dates needed to be moved. There was an overarching project throughout the semester, but you work on all parts of it throughout. You seriously have to try to fail
Seriously the best professor I have had here. Extremely caring, passionate, honest, understanding, clear, and even inspirational. He takes students wellbeing very seriously, speaks super expressively, and gets us all involved and participating even if history isn't something we love. I recommend anyone take this professor!
He spent a lot of time talking in class, sometimes about his personal life. The classes were very lecture-heavy, but engaging can be hard if you do not like to participate. Overall, the work was not that hard, there were weekly reading quizzes and other short writing assignments. He did care about students, but his classes were long.
During this class, Professor Daley often ranted about something he disliked or told stories about his past. It was often distracting and took away from class time. There are no tests in the class which is nice, but rather group projects and weekly reading assignments/quizzes. It isn't a super hard class but instructions are often confusing.
Professor Daley is passionate but talks a lot, which can get annoying. The class is easy if you follow lectures. No tests, just weekly assignments and group projects. Near the end he assigns a heavy workload with short deadlines, tons of links, and grades everything late. The end project is confusing and complicated to do...
