Great prof. always gives useful feedback. Was worried about taking this course online but the instructions were clear. Make sure to listen to lectures - especially important for tests.
Matt is an excellent instructor that gives practical, timely and helpful feedback.
Great teacher! Very helpful and understanding. Great feedback on articles. Enjoyed this class a lot, would love to take another course from this professor.
The instructor is very nice to everyone in entire quarter to help you with what you do not know and being mindful and to be respectful is the best way to pass this class because the discussion and the writing for this class has to be done by knowing what the instruction is asking for you to do. But there is no need to hesitate because there is time
Fantastic class with amazing professor!
Wonderful class and experience!
Hands down one of the best professors I have had. His lectures are very personable and he gives out a reasonable amount of work. He manages to plan out the entire quarter and there are no surprises. His courses are very straight forward. Overall would highly recommend him as a teacher!
Matt Edwards is one of the most professional and effective teachers at Bellevue College. His lectures are clear and easy for his students to understand. It's important to stay up with the coursework to ensure you are making adequate progress in his course. I would highly recommend this instructor to others and overall this was a great experience
Good grades in his class require prep, focus, dedication and hard work. When the qtr was over, I left his class with new knowledge and skills as a writer/communicator. The best part of his style teaching is that the process did not feel like learning; he instructs casually and it's fun. You will actually use the tools he teaches outside the class.
Matt is a very good communicator and is ready to help when a student runs in to a bind. He is quick to respond to an email and readily recognizes students who work hard in his class. His online materials are excellent with powerpoint lectures and other readings. He worked with me when I had to miss some classes which was very helpful!
One of the best professors I've had. Matt is organized, with a clearly planned out, reasonable agenda for assignments/projects and stays on top of emails. Lectures are clear, relatable, and entertaining. Takes his time to make every student feel included and acknowledged. He has very clear expectations for everyone and motivates you to meet them.
Great professor! Very knowledgeable about the communications and networking field. I do not like surprises. Matt doesn't either. He clearly outlines what is expected of you through means of class time and through the class calendar. Very relatable. Enjoy your time in Matt's class. The atmosphere that he creates is spectacular!
Caring and respectful. He will try and help you the best he can. Very knowledgeable in the communications field and in general, so you will learn tons of USEFUL information. Makes class environment comfortable and since he is so knowledgeable it is easy to learn the content. Highly recommend in general and for a humanities course. Don't pass it up.
Don't miss the opportunity to have the best professor. He is caring, respectful, and will help you in any way he can. He is very knowledgeable in the communication field, and makes the material easy to learn because of his examples.
Mr Edwards or Matt, was a fantastic teacher. His lectures and course work interrelated extremely and the course structure was awesome to promote the lessons learned into one group project. It was very well thought out and inspiring class. Matt really went the extra step in making sure that he crossed all his "T's" and dotted his "I's". Best teacher
Mr. Edwards is very friendly and funny. However, his critiques can feel a little vague if this is your first time writing this kind of material. Besides that, he always allows emails if you have questions. Don't be afraid to stop him to ask things, because he does move quickly sometimes.
Matt is one of the coolest, most chill professors at BC... your grade is based on two multiple choice quizzes, and you have 4 articles to write. Otherwise super easy class, if you know how to write and you take his feedback then you will get an easy A in this course... Will definitely take again, super funny guy!
I took small group communications with Matt Edwards as the teacher and I am pleased to say that it was a good class with material that will be beneficial. Be warned: keep up with the textbook and get everything done early so that you will have time
Cant say enough about how awesome Matt is. He has experience in media and uses that to make class fun and engaging. In his Media Writing class the assignments are hands on and you build real skills interviewing, analyzing and putting it all together. He goes above and beyond for students and is always ready to give feedback, help, or mentor.
Prof. set the clear grading criteria. The class required the textbook and you should read to pass the test. The amount of reading, work load, assignments are reasonable. Do not miss the test due date! Mandatory group class discussion and everyone participated very well. It is a great class. You will learn so much from this class and Prof. Matt.
Very good teacher!
It's not just about how he transfers the knowledge but also the way he behave and his mannerisms. There's so much to learn from him.
Matt Edwards is a great professor! I took his online class and he was so kind and helpful. This class did not require a lot of time each week so it is great if you have a busy schedule. There were article assignments due every couple weeks and we got to choose our own topics. He graded fairly and was happy to answer questions. Highly recommend!
Professor Edwards was amazing! His expectations for students are very clear and as long as you follow them you will do well. Class consisted of 4 online exams and 4 discussions. The workload is reasonable. He takes time to get to know each of his students and is very respectful of others. A lot to learn from him overall.
Matt Edwards Fantastic Professor! His #1 goal is to create a safe classroom where students can actually learn without having to worry about pop quizzes, hard tests or being called on if you don't want to participate. His lectures are very engaging & there is adequate review for tests. One Informational/One Group speech to present Thumbs up!
Matt facilitates with energy and enthusiasm the content he teaches. Competently communicates value-added life principles, stimulates learning culture, interactive group discussions, shaping of ideas, foster expression of insights, and collective shared wisdom. Good people, deliver good content, creates good outcomes. Matt is a mind-door opener! (:
Matt is an interesting professor. At CMST250, we had a lot of in-class discussions, which was very helpful for us to understand the learning objects. Homework was not heavy, good class and professor.
The online class is pretty much self-taught; no dates on the course calendar so you have to schedule it out yourself, and the PPT are useless without classroom context. Every point is weighed equally (articles are 100 pts each) against your grade, so small mistakes can make a huge difference.
Chapters are mostly self taught, however, he provided us with chapter outlines and no-credit self-tests to monitor our progress which was useful. Always responds to emails and assignments with great feedback. He is very organized, encouraging, and expectations are clear. 3 tests, 1 informative speech, 2 discussions, and 1 final essay.
Matt is a very professional, friendly, and encouraging professor, he wants his students to do well. This class was online and he provided pre-recorded lectures for each chapter of the textbook. His expectations for exams and assignments were clear, nothing unexpected. If I had the chance I would take a class from Matt again.
Edwards was one of the best professors I've taken this year. His grading criteria is very clear and he gives good feedback. As long as you take the writing assignments seriously, you will end with an A. (I took his online class)
The expectations were clear and understandable, and there was a lot of flexibility around the topics we got to write about, which I really enjoyed. He was also available during office hours.
Professor Matthew Edwards is absolutely the best professor you can ask for. He is very knowledgeable in communication and he would share his personal experiences in real life to help students better understanding terms. He is very respectful to all students and he would dive into thoughts during informative speech and give helpful feedbacks.
Such a horrific Professor. Doesnt care about students at all, and his feedback is extremely contradicting. Trust me please. Just trust me. Take another communications professor.
Matt is an overall solid teacher; my main objection to his style is the fact that he gives out very little homework other than major tests, discussions and speeches. That combined with the fact that his critiques are more strict than most of my teachers at the college thus far makes it potentially difficult to get an A in his class.
Matt was an exceptional professor, the class and his expectations are communicated and clearly laid out. For this course, we used discussion boards and quizzes, and he offers as much feedback or help as you need. He is also understanding and flexible with circumstances and offers resources. If you put in the work, you will easily be able to succeed
Great teacher, explains concepts well and is available outside of class. The discussion board assignments are lengthy and require some time. Matt gives you plenty of time to work on them, so get them done before hand to ensure you have enough time to complete them. The quizzes are pretty easy, you'll ace them if you pay attention to the reading.
I highly recommend Mr. Matthew Edwards. My experience taking his Communication in a Diverse Workplace class was excellent! Matt's teaching is passionate and inspiration. We can all benefit from improved communication in every area of our lives. You won't find a better professor to teach you how to improve your communication skills.
I took Matt's class and loved it! He cares deeply for his students and his lectures are engaging. He gives you plenty of time on all of the assignments, however sometimes his instructions and feedback is a bit vague. He grades a bit harsh (no one got 100% on the discussion posts), but ultimately fair and is pretty easy to get an A if you try.
This instructor is very into his work. Which motivated me to be more involved in the class. At first, I wasn't sure of what to expect from this course but once into it and seeing how the instructor went about getting you to understand how communication is out there in the workplace. Things started to make sense. Excellent instructor, I must say.
Matt Edwards is a great professor. I will say that the discussion boards that are given can be a bit overwhelming. However, if you're good at keeping up to date with your assignments it shouldn't be a problem. Other than the discussion boards, the class is very easy to follow, and Matt does a great job of teaching.
Matt is a fantastic professor! He makes this class really enjoyable. His optimism, relatability, stories, and insights demonstrate his genuine caring for student success. Grades based on 6 "posts", 4 tests, and weekly class participation. I've had 40 professors (have a BA but making career change) - Matt is definitely one of the top 3!
Prof. Edwards is a very fair grader, and gives out assignments that are not graded for you to learn and get ourself out there and experience. His feedbacks are very helpful and knowledgeable. He will answer any questions you have, and will encourage you to push yourself harder to do better. Amazing professor. If you want to learn, take him!!!!
Matt is a very clear and organized professor. You'll be graded by 4 main articles, which I found to be easy, and get a participation grade. He offers optional zoom calls once a week for extra help. I went once, and I still got an 100 on participation, so as long as you turn things in on time you'll be fine.
Professor Mathew Edwards teaching style is interesting, he makes the class enjoyable. His class recap and feedback are very valuable. It was a great experience for me.
Matt Edwards is a professional professor who cares about his students' success. He gives incredible feedback and is easy to access outside out of normal class hours. I took CMST 141. There was typically an assignment to write an article every 2 weeks, with some chapter readings, and quizzes mixed throughout. Get your work done and you'll be fine!
Great professor! Not too many assignments but enough to ensure you've learned the material. Professor is very responsive and always provides encouraging feedback.
Matt is a gem of a professor. His lectures are concise and it's clear he cares about the success of his students. One thing I particularly enjoyed about his class is his lessons have real life application. There is so much value in what he is teaching, it makes the class work well worth your time. You will absolutely not regret taking his class!
Matt was incredibly engaging and very understanding. I had some personal issues that required me to take a break from school, and he was very considerate when it came to leniency and my late assignments. He gave great feedback and was overall a really good professor. I have him next quarter for a different class and am excited
absolutely astounding it was to have the opportunity to work with with Proff. Matt. for me its the way he holds himself, and is passionate about his craft, he's character, mannerism, he's polite and is eloquent effective communicator. I also mentioned that he's over qualified for this job in a good way. he cares for his students he engages students
Great professor! Made instructions clear and wasnt homework heavy. Just some quizzes and discussion posts! As long as you read the text youll be good! Would for sure take this class again:)
Matt Edwards was an overall wonderful professor. I am so glad I got the opportunity to take this class. The workload is reasonable and he always gives amazing feedback on assignments. I learned many key components that I am able to use in real life situations. Great class and I highly recommend.
Professor Edwards was amazing, all you have to do is keep up with the chapter reading in order to succeed! Make sure to turn in all assignments on time.
Mr. Edwards is a great teacher, as long as you study hard and get all your work in on time you will succeed in this class.
Professor Edwards is a superb teacher that is very motivational and will encourage you to be the best student that you can be and also the greatest person that you can be in life as well. Put hard work and sincere effort into the course and you will see magnificent results with this outstanding professor!
Matt is very helpful and caring. You can easily find him outside of class, and he gives good feedback that really help you improve in writing. The overall course work is not too much. There are a total of four essays. Come sign up if you are interested in meeting a good teacher or want to improve your writing skills!
Professor Edwards is a great teacher! He gives a schedule at the beginning of class so it's easy to plan around. If you give thoughtful responses to the discussions and keep up with the readings you will do well in the class. The class relates to the real world so it's super useful knowledge but you'll only gain what you put into it.
I was a student in communication 250 class in 2020. I loved taking his class, he made the course easy to relate to real life. He also emphasized the importance of emotional intelligence. He made himself accessible outside of class. Years later, I reached out to him and he was there to help me. I highly recommend taking a course with Mr. Edwards!
This class does contain quite a lot of reading but is easily do-able with the time frame given. He gives detailed feedback on discussions which is appreciated. Overall, pretty straight-forward and easy class.
I enjoyed taking the class offered by Prof. Matt. I learned a lot about communication that I can apply in a professional and personal setting. The workload is reasonable but make sure to study material provided and you can expect great results. Prof. Matt provides useful feedback and is available if there are any questions or concerns.
He has given me a lot of very helpful feedback.
He has given me a lot of helpful feedback. He was always available to help and usually answered my emails pretty fast. I enjoyed his class a lot and with his advice, I was able to improve my writing. He gives you space to grow as a student and as a writer. He used easy language that was important and helpful for me as an international student.
I am taking Professor Matt Edwards's communication 250 online class at Bellevue College. He is a very helpful and kind person, and he always gives me detailed comments and feedback, which helps me a lot. This course has four discussions and four quizzes. Each discussion has 4-5 questions, and each quiz has 50 questions. My grade is A- so far.
If you have the chance to have Matt as your professor I say do it! He has a really great sense of humor which makes this class more interesting. He is not afraid to give feedback and be honest which I really appreciated because it helped me improve.
Professor Edwards is a really nice professor who responds to emails quickly, but he's also an extremely hard grader. He expects multiple lengthy paragraphs for each question on discussion posts (1000+ word count if you want at least a 90 on the discussion), so make sure you're prepared before signing up for this course.
Matthew Edwards has thus far been my favorite professor at BC. He takes the time to make thoughtful responses to coursework and goes above and beyond in mentoring and helping students succeed outside of class. I highly recommend him as a teacher.
Professor Edwards is an amazing teacher and the time took to provide exceptional feedback. He actually took the time to truly read our homework and respond to it. He is a great example of what a communication's professor should be. I would definitely recommend Professor Edwards to anyone.
Great Professor! I liked the course and the structure of the assignments Pr. Matt built up. The material he gave was helpful and interesting. He graded in time and pretty fair. I recommend his classes to the students. 5 stars!
Professor Matthew is proficient with this communication study class, I had a problem understanding the common tactics and strategies in many social aspects but my confidence to engage with social matters got raised distinctively after the class. Would definitely take this class again if I had to.
I took Small Group Communication with Professor Edwards. I found him to be kind, knowledgeable and engaging. I received detailed feedback on my work, generally with positive words and appreciation for my efforts. Also loved how he would include youtube clips in some of our learning modules. He's great!
Wonderful professor, clearly cares about his students success. Despite only meeting 3 times during the quarter Matt was able to make the environment feel welcome and supportive which is something most professor's are unable to do. For a communication studies class I feel this is imperative and Matt nails it.
Professor Edwards was really nice, his class was very interesting. While we have a schedule class meetings, it was only 4 times the whole quarter, that was great. I was sick by the end of the quarter and he was very understanding and we find a different way to work on my finals assignment. Good feedbacks, he takes the time, highly recommended.
Professor Edward' class is great. Mandatory discussions are reasonable, and I learned a lot when I was creating my answers. Moreover, reading my classmates' work reassured me I understand the topic. Professor's feedback is excellent. You will know exactly what you wrote good and what you missed. Highly recommend it!
This was an asynchronous class with a very reasonable workload. Prof. Matt provided clear grading criteria and deadlines. He doesn't accept late work, so be prepared to turn assignments in on time! Assignments included discussion posts (min 200 words) with replies to classmates (min 100 words), chapter quizzes, and group projects.
This class worth its praise. This class has improved My ability to speak boldly and interact well with a variety of audiences .Prof.Matt is respectful&understanding teacher, easily makes concessions to his students.Interesting assignments, discussions&group project.I took two classes:CMST230 and HD,loved it,fun&easy!Would love to take his class again
I highly recommend Professor Matthew's class to anyone looking to improve their interpersonal communication skills. His feedback on assignments is consistently constructive and encourages students in the learning process. Matthew's dedication and efforts fostered a positive and dynamic learning environment. Definitely, he is a great professor.
Students have the opportunity to behave and be treated in a professional manor. Professor provides clear expectations and is more firm on deadlines compared to other educators at the school. This provides good practice for the workforce. The professor provides good suggestions for areas on improvement. I had a positive experience and do recommend.
I cannot tell you how amazing Prof Edwards is, he truly cares so much about his students and WANTS to see his students succeed. He provides a lot of information in his lectures, so even if attendance is not absolutely needed, it is highly recommended to do so. If you have the opportunity to do so, take his class! Great guy.
This professor offers a lot of support and is easy to reach through email. The instructions are clear on most assignments and the professor gives lots of feedback.
The professor was flexible with me as it was my very first quarter and I was getting used to navigating the different tools. He provides good feedback on your writing and isn't too tough of a grader. Learned many valuable topics throughout the quarter.
Professor Edwards is reasonable and is quick to respond to emails. The grading rubric is very clear and you need to pay attention to the instructions. One would expect a lot of group work (this was a small group communication class) but 90% of it is individual work. Late work is not accepted, but there's a reasonable amount of time for assignments.
The professor knows what he's talking about and explains concepts very well. He tells you exactly what he wants and is clear in grading and feedback. His assignments are a reasonable length, and he gives you enough time to complete them as well (He doesn't accept late work and there is no extra credit.)
Professor Edwards created an engaging and vivid online student community experience, demonstrating that the on-line method of distance learning, if properly used, can be a wonderful tool for sharing and growing. Great PPT presentations narrated by him for each module, detailed feedback, same day answers to emails, "Student Hours", kind support!
No easy concept, but valuable. If you like to read, this course is for you. One thing that I like is that professor Matt provide a clear and long feedback and that help to understand the class better.
Professor Matt was an outstanding instructor in my CMST 250 course. He organized the material clearly, making it easy to understand. His engaging teaching style conveyed complex concepts effectively. I highly recommend this course with him; he encourages feedback, which helped me refine my work and achieve better grades!
I think he's one of the best professors at BC. He's incredibly organized, providing clear guidance on what to expect and how to plan ahead, as he lays out all assignments in advance. He's also very approachable, always responding promptly to questions, and his feedback is consistently positive and encouraging.
Professor Edwards was extremely helpful the quarter I had him. There were several points in the class when I had not been able to finish something for several reasons and he was incredibly reasonable and understanding. I would have done poorly if he had not been my teacher. 10/10 would recommend you take one of his classes
Professor Edwards is incredibly understanding and provides excellent feedback. His modules are clear and well-organized, with all assignments available at the beginning of the quarter. I definitely recommend him!
Matt is a great professor! He puts so much time and effort into giving each one of his students feedback on every assignment. He is always available to help and answer questions. I very much recommend you take at least one of his classes!
I enjoyed taking this class and the interaction with the professor. He made the class entertaining and relatable. There was a lot of reading for the class, however the class lectures were engaging and made if fun. I learned a lot about communication, and I can improve my interactions with others and work to be more proficient professionally.
My advice to students is if you put in effort he will recognize and remember that. He is very direct and a clear communicator (go figure, check his profession) therefore expectations WILL be outlined for you. At least three of my fellow classmates have told me their quality of life improved by the end of the quarter because of his lessons.
I took CMST 250, the work load is okay compared to my other classes with flexible deadlines. However, his grading is way to strict. The Discussion forums require 10~20 paragraphs of writing(works out to 1,000+ words min), plus some replies. He should just call it an essay.
Matt is a really passionate professor! His standards for his discussion forums are unusually high. It is very difficult to get a good score on the discussion forums(~50% of grade) He gives really detailed feedback on the DFs though, but there are still several ambiguous criteria.
He hosts engaging and useful lessons, and assignments that make you think. Also, he is very responsive, and is generous when it comes to grading
Good guy, he was very adaptive and helped the class move forward, especially in a online class it can be difficult to wrangle people together.
Overall, he's a really great teacher. His feedback is clear and helpful, and he's not a tough grader. He's supportive and willing to provide extra sources when I need help with my articles. Highly recommend!
Took Prof. Matt Edward's for FYS101 online with one Zoom class a week. Such an easy class, it felt like it didn't even exist. He is a fast grader, and only assigns like 10 assignments the entire quarter that will take you less than 30 minutes to complete. He also puts the assignments out weeks in advanced so you can finish it early!
Yes, attendance is mandatory and is part of the grade. If you show up, and talk like once though, you get full points for the week. No late work, but he understands life happens, and if you let him know he understands (doesn't ask for proof). Lectures are interactive, not a lot of work. Really nice guy overall, grading seems lenient too.
Really funny and understanding. My only complaint is that with so little assignments, missing one will tank your grade and make it near impossible to get back up. Just pay attention to due dates and you'll be fine
Professor Matt Edwards is such a great professor, all his assignments were very clear and straightforward. You'll do well in his classes if you pay attention and read the material. He always drops little nuggets of advice and wisdom, which makes you really sit and think, & he's also hilarious. I would 100% take his class again, super cool Professor
Good communication and feedback.
Did not teach or engage with us. Read from a textbook, provided lecture notes which are just a summary and terms of chapter. Gave example of an assignment, then a 100-point article to write. Felt like there was zero effort from the teacher. Disappointed because I was excited for this subject.
Professor Edwards was great, he was very helpful and easy to get a hold of when needed. Very kind and understanding! There is only a few assignments every week typically a discussion post and a quiz every now and then but nothing weights to heavily on your grade as everything is just for points overall which was great! Would definitely recommend!
Professor Matt, is a great asset to Bellevue College. I like the fact that the assignments were available and opened for ample amount of time, you just can't be late with an assignment. I learned so much from taking his class and I'm even more inspired about my career. P.S The work load was not heavy or light it was considerably feasible.
Mr. Edwards was a really easy grader and actually cared about his students. if you take it with him and get all of your assign
Mr. Edwards was an amazing professor for FYS. He gave 1-2 assignments per week which was very manageable especially during summer quarter. He also gives good feedback on if assignments were done correctly or not. As well as grading in a reasonable amount of time. I would take this class with this professor again.
Clear grading criteria and constructive feedback. Great selection of course materials.
I will be honest with you guys, Mr Edwards is one of the best professors i had at college he is super helpful and amazing professor,he is super dedicated in what he have to do,I understand the principles of how to be a part of a group, thank you professor,God bless you
I really enjoy Matt's class since he gave us a lot of useful resources to get ready for college and know more about yourself in HD103 course. It was a great beginning course to be his student!
Take him if you need any Communication classes or a Humanity course required to finish college. Assignments are presented at the early quarter, so you can balance better. You would need to read a lot and write a bit. I'm not even a student from BC, he works part time at my college. And he's so amazing that I have to find him on RMP to rate him.
I took this class over the summer and there were roughly 10 or so assignments total. All assignments were made available day one but one was due every week or two. All of the assignments were easy and he graded really leniently. I spent maybe 2 hours total the entire course and got 100%. Would absolutely recommend taking his asynchronous class.
Mr. Edwards was extremely professional, and the class itself was outstanding—well-structured, clearly organized, and perfectly balanced in terms of homework assignments and quizzes. I would absolutely take another class with this professor.
Definitely take this professor if you can!! He was incredibly caring and respectful. He responded to emails quickly and professionally. Class material was interesting and tests weren't hard.
Great teacher, straight forward, responds fast to questions outside of class, is very accommodating and understanding. You can tell his main goal is for everyone to learn useful information and be able to pass his class with good grades. Had him for 2 different classes, and he was great.
Actually pretty good for an online class. Only four sets of assignments, due around three weeks apart. Do your discussion posts while reading the book, it'll make your life easier. He grades discussion posts harshly, but just do minimum three paragraphs, seven sentences each paragraph, and you'll be good. Only around 2-3 hours of homework a week.
super nice prof! he is very funny and drops facts during relationship/mental health lectures. highly recommend taking prof for FYS in your first year, he brings in lots of guest speakers and has assignments that are good for self-reflection. genuinely a pleasant class to have on your plate during stress bc its easy to pass and enjoyable to do hw!
Easy class if you do the readings/watch the videos. Super nice and understanding professor
Great prof! Took him for FYS and I really enjoyed it. The assignments were super easy, 1-2 a week reflecting on your strengths, weaknesses, career/academic goals, etc. You can tell he cares about his students a lot. I recommend taking a class where you actually attend meetings w/ him because he's hilarious and his classes were always fun.
he is a great professor, the assignments are straightforward and ur all set as long as you get them done on time (no late hw). he gives great advice and i learned a decent amount from this class considering it was fys 101.
