This teacher is interesting. His lectures are about math, but he also adds little tidbits about language, history, literature, among other literary topics to liven up what can be rather dry as concrete mathematics; some of the tidbits didn’t have much (or anything) to do with mathematics, although.

I loved his class. Very enjoyable and you will never get bored. He will always take the time to explain this to you. He wants you to succeed, therefore doesn't make your life harder, what he cares about is that you UNDERSTAND..EASY A..TRUST ME YOU WILL LOVE MATH AGAIN..LIKE ME

I found his lectures moved quite rapidly and had to use the tutors. I'm also someone who struggles with math. However, his tests tested you on the basics. He didn't throw trick problems or try to make them more difficult. He is very fair, great personality and I would recommend him to anyone.

Matt Foss when it comes to math is probably one of the best instructors out there. His tests are to the point and he is a fair grader. I'm glad I had the privlege to have him for a teacher.

Foss is a very good teacher. Every day or every few days he'd have a funny story to tell, or would crack jokes, and he was overall hilarious! He is very understanding if you have other life affairs interfere with the class. Overall a very good teacher, probably the best at NHCC! If you can I highly recommend taking him!

great teacher. easy tests. grades pretty fair. his d2L posts are great and helpful. if you are bad with fractions then too bad 4 you. he wont let you use a calculator at all for all the tests.

The best teacher in the entire school. I am an innate mathematician myself, but I had forgotten my math after 3 years of missing school. He pushed me back to my limits and has inspired me to get my own Math major. I plan to take Calc 2 with him during the fall. He's got the attitude, the explaining, the help, and the humor to keep you into math! :)

Great teacher but don't waste your money on the text book. he literally never uses it. Also even though class isn't mandatory, he expects you to be there like it is. his lectures are recorded and he gives you notes packets. show up, copy the notes, do the HW and you'll breeze through the class

He's very easy. He's a great math teacher, and he is extremely helpful. He likes to tell jokes. =] no need to to buy the book, he will print out lecture notes and homework for you. All you need to buy is math XL.

HE IS ONE OF THE BEST TEACHER I EVER HAD IN COLLEGE. HIS TEACHING WAS EASY TO CONSUME, THEN WE DO GROUP WORK, AND HOMEWORK. If I could, I would take his classes for all of my college math courses, but he only teaches a few. He's a very good teacher, I really recommend him for math!!

Foss is one of the best professors out there. I got a B in Calc 1 and an A in Calc 2. The difference was Foss. He's not "easy" by any means; instead he's just an anwesome teacher. Very enthusiastic and takes the time to explain concepts with passion. He's also funny in geeky way. Keeps the class interesting.

I let the fear of math hold me back from going back to college for 7 years. Mr. Foss is an AWESOME math teacher. I get an A for my frist math class. Never had to take algebra when I went top high school. Foss made learning math fun and not so hard.

Mr. Foss is just about the coolest cat around. He knows his stuff, makes it fun and takes away that doom and gloom feel most math classes have. I suck at math and passed! I actually retained the information too. Pretty awesome. He doodles a lot too and his side chatter is actually pretty comical. Good guy. Take him, no regrets at all!

I have been with Foss for 4 semester because I never wanted to have another math teacher. He is respectful and know how to make love his course but if you really want to benefit from his course you need to do all his homework and follow up with the class

Dr. Foss is well organized. He utilizes the college web system and he is prompt at posting updates to the course content and grades. Dr. Foss clearly communicates the material and does so in a manner that can make math fun for students.I recommend this professor.

Simply the best Math teacher ever... I don't know why he teaches at a community college because he has the quality to be a tenured professor at MIT. (Seriously!) He makes Math enjoyable and gives you an understanding of how Math relates to everything else around you.

His tests are exactly what you study, no surprises. doesnt give formula sheets for any tests but he does teach you ways to remember them. teaches you to question what you learn and not just write notes down like a zombie.

I go to a state school and took calc over the summer with Matt and he is the best professor I have ever had- so easy to understand and the way he goes through notes makes it easy to learn the material. I would recommend him to anybody- he made calculus a breeze!

Truly the best professor at NHCC. Never really been fond of math before, but he made it so fun that it was easy to memorize and understand! His tests are also pretty clear, and he gives a few extra credits once in awhile.

He is a great teacher. He is hilarious and tells short, like super short, stories during lessons. That makes his class so much fun, and it makes sure you're awake. The thing I will say about him though is that he's pretty rough when you email him. Also, the homework for his class is online which makes answering the questions harder; since rounding.

Mathew Foss is a great teacher. I have him for Math 1150 currently and I love coming to class. I wish all teachers could be as enthusiastic and helpful as he is. I would recommend him over any teacher! He goes above and beyond to help you succeed. Absolutely love this guy!

Hands down the best math professor I've ever had. He's super clear about what will be on the exams. The practice tests are very similar to the real thing. He even lets you use a cheat sheet on the final. Best of all, he's hilarious and makes class enjoyable! I LOVE HIM.

One of the best math teachers I have had. I learned some of this same material in high school and didn't understand it then but completely do now. He doesn't give you extra help if you don't ask for it, so if you need it then ask. Do ALL of the homework and you will for sure pass. I would take him again. Don't buy the text book, its all online.

Funny teacher as he occasionally talks about random things during lectures but rarely sidetracks from the actual lessons. He gives you handouts to take notes or you can go online to print out his written notes and just listen to the lectures. Tests are just like his notes so study them. No quizzes or group projects.

He is awesome and funny! Easy class too because he knows how to explain! I hope to take his class in future.

I just got through taking Matthew Foss may, 03, 2016 and Overall I must say the class was not really that hard. He is a decent person. He gives you all the information you need to do well in his class. For test he tells you to study from previous test he posted on D2l and if you want to give a decent grade in the class, study them .

I took Mr. Foss for Pre-calculus and College Algebra. I would recommend taking him for all your math classes. He is genuinely an amazing and hilarious teacher. The study guides are so helpful and you learn a lot from his lectures.

Great professor overall. Teaches quickly just needs to slow down a bit but overall he does a great job teaching and connecting with his students in the the classroom. I would like to recommend Foss to people who is finding a good instructor in Math department. He is gentle, easy, and care about students a lot. His lectures are clear and easily to understand. No matter you don't understand any parts of the lectures, he willing to answer and explain it again for you, even give you more specific examples.

Matt Foss is fantastic. He's funny, his tests are easy (even though he tends to be a draconian grader), he's always at class on time, and always ends on time. He's also very approachable and wants to see all his students succeed.

Foss was a pretty good teacher and I would definitely take him again. He gave notes in class and then we did our homework online at home, which I think was a pretty good system and worked well for me. His lectures are really good, and he tries to make lots of jokes but nobody really laughs lol

His Lectures are super important! So if you skip classes, you wont understand the math. You can ask him for help, he is super friendly and makes the difficult math easy. His notes are accessible online, which is a lifesaver. Overall, he is one of my favorite teachers and I would gladly take another one of his classes.

Mathhew is really funny and you can tell he does really care about his students. One of the easiest professors to work with, would highly recommend!

I can't tell you how great Matt is for all things calculus. He has note templates, he stays focused during class, can answer any question you ask him, and is always willing to extend the due dates on your homework. He tells jokes and stories about math during lectures and whatever inspirational quote is appropriate. Would rate him a 6 if I could.

10/10 would take 1,000,000! times again. He's an incredibly caring, intelligent, and well-rounded professor. He'll take the time to talk one-on-one if you needed to and gives great practice tests to prepare for exams and finals. I've taken him for Calc 1 and Calc II and desperately wish he would tech Calc III, even though I don't need it for major.

I failed Calc two twice and the third time I took it was with Mat Foss, he is a very caring professor, I asked him many questions and he was always there to help. He gives very good study materials such as study guides and practice exams that are so much like the test. I would totally recommend him!

Matt is a passionate teacher. If you take his course seriously, show up, pay attention, study and do homework, you will do great! Summer course was very fast(as expected) but he did a great job pacing it. I would reccomend him to anyone serious about learning calculus.

Matt told stories and used some funny examples that made class enjoyable. We had assignments due online every week, which were difficult towards the end, but you had unlimited attempts and it could walk you through the problem so as long as you put in effort, you should at least pass with a decent grade.

I've taken Calc 1 & 2 with him! Calc isn't an easy A for everyone, but he's your best chance for one. Sign up ASAP for your next class with HIM if he's an option. Great man. Cool stories. Has opportunities for extra credit that I took advantage of and ended up getting over 100% in the class. When the virus hit, he already had videos of lectures made which made no significant change to how I was learning. He gave us everything he would have done in class from Desmos applications to homeowork answers. Amazing.

Test heavy but homework is way harder than exams. Homework is time consuming so be prepared to study. By far the best math professor Ive ever had and I highly recommend him. Great sense of humor and is extremely accommodating, understanding, and caring.

I remember Matt Foss from years ago when I took Algebra. Hes the best math teacher Ive ever had and always made sure I chose him for any math class required. He easily explains everything and breaks it down by step to where I was able to do the problem in my head. Highly recommend!

Professor Foss is extremely talented at what he does. I was in his calculus course in Spring 2019, and I can confidently say that he is the best math teacher I've had in my educational career. He tells math stories during class and is pretty funny too. If you can take a class with him, I highly recommend it.

TAKE ALL of his classes! I took College Algebra/Pre-Calc and Calc ll with him. He didn't teach Calc l for one semester but I would have chosen him if he did. His tests and practice test are similar to his lectures. He is clear, thorough, and a little goofy with his puns but that's what makes the class not boring. Great personality! Great instructor

Probably better than all my HS math teachers combined. He actually sounds like he wants to be in class. I didn't even pass Pre-Calc in HS, but he made everything so much easier!! He goes over important topics every day, so I couldn't skip a single lecture, and I would spend hours on the online homework each week, but other than that great teacher.

Matt Foss is always my first choice for any math course, because his lectures are delivered in a succinct and entertaining manner. He is more than willing to work with you if you have any struggles in school - several times he would let me hand in late work - and is always easy to reach if you have any questions. Just make sure not to skip class.

The tests truly consisted of problems similar to those covered in class. Everything is demonstrated well, and if not, you can ask in class or send an email. No issues and his teaching style is both engaging and entertaining without putting anyone on the spot. Great class.

Mr. Foss online calculus 1 (MATH 1221 51) has been extremely easy. It's been 3 weeks into the semester and I am loving how the course is going. Lecture videos is very easy to follow through and understand, syllabus is clear, and the online homework format is simple. He replies extremely fast and I could tell that he cares for my success.

Straight forward, very easy to talk to. Definitely recommend his class. He explains everything thoroughly and if you don't understand, he is very helpful during his office hours.

10/10 professor. Take all of his classes.

He is an amazing professor. He really cares about your success and growth in his class. Watching and paying attention to the lecture videos really helped me, sad that this was his last semester as he retired :(
