BORING!!!!!!!!!!!
RUN...don't walk....change your class immediately. He is soooooo boring, you'll want to kill yourself. He hands out so much paper, I think he is personally responsible for clearing our rainforests,
Omg Boring!!
OMG get out of this class ASAP he's absolutely horrible he gives out so many papers its like killing 7 trees for each student in the class for each assignment when he says he's giving a small packet out its like 40pgs long i would never take a class w/ him again
WORST TEACHER...HE THINKS PEOPLE DON'T HAVE LIVES WITH THE AMOUNT OF WORK HE GIVES!
WOW...just WOW..soo boring...he's a nice guy...but a terrible teacher, gives tooooo much work...DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR ANY THEOLOGY CLASS
Boring, lots of work but an easy grader. Don't bother asking any questions in his class because he will just respond to will will get there later and never does
The most boring prof. ever!!! I suggest that you do NOT take him. He's a nice guy, but during class I want to shoot myself from boredom, and the rest of the class agrees.
you do NOT want to take this class, i got roped into it as an ethics reqmt. this man, without a doubt, is the worst and most boring prof. i have ever had. Huge and boring papers. spare yourself the agony. don't say i didn't warn you. :*
Dr. Foster loves to run off topic and gives papers that say exactly what he mouths in class. If you want somebody who doesn't care about latenesses or attendance at all he is the man to have otherwise avoid as much as possible.
I agree, run. Not only is he boring, he can't teach.
his class..is so boring and it feels like ur in there for like 40 hours..and he gives like 6 papers on books that no one understands. Hes so unlcear when explaining things, his format for the paper is ridiculous, and he grades so hard. Even if u wrote a great paper, its not good enough for him. Seriously, get outta his class asap.
the closest human equivilant to anesthisia....very very boring. do not operate heavy machinery while taking this class. that being said, he's a fairly easy grader. no tests, but four papers
most boring man alive .. exact duplicate voice like the guy from the clear eyes commerical very monotone and horrible... have fun trying not to fall asleep in class!
Foster is the type of teacher that is boring and every monotonic. its every hard to stay with him because he is sooooo boring. not only does he have rediculous paper assignments that will take u ages to do but his clarity is somewhat hazy. Over all if you want to have a teacher that looks like ned fladders from the simpsons be my guest!!

I wish I read this webpage before signing up for his class. He is soooo boring and everyone in my class can agree. Everyone complains about the grades they receive for their papers. I can't wait for the class to end. This class is the worst class I have ever taken. I even stopped showing up, which is really bad because he takes off .3 for nota
Do not take this class. It sucks.
DROPPING THIS CLASS FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. I had one class with him and everyone who rated him before me is completely accurate. Yes,RUN...DON'T WALK!!!!!!!!!ONE OF MOLLOY COLLLEGE'S WORST AND THEY ARE FAR AND FEW BETWEEN.
YES HE IS A HARD GRADE AND VERY VERY STRICK ABOUT LATENESS AND ABSENTS. HOWEVER, DO YOUR ASSIGMENT, GO UP TO HIM AND ASK IF YOUR ON THE RIGHT TRACK. PARTICIPATE IN CLASS, ASK HIM REALLY HARD QUESTIONS. LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYS, YOU CAN USE IT AGAINT HIM TO MAKE YOUR POINT. YOU WILL GET A GOOD GRADE. I GOT AN A.
Very weird teaching style. No tests given. One's grade is based on five or so essays. He is a very nice guy but his teaching style can use some work. Just pay attention to what he says, do the work required, come to class, and you will get a good grade. I will probably take him again just because the classes he teaches do not have tests. :-)
Very vague, tough grader. A lot of work for an intro class.
A lot of work for an introduction class, he has 4 assignments which are very hard to understand. very specific w/length of assignments, otherwise points will be taken off. no tests given. grade is just based on 4 assignments. dont take him unless you plan on being a theologian
I had him for environment ethics. He's a very nice teacher but I have to be honest and say this class was the most boring class, and not just because it was 3 hours. he's very monotone, and he thinks you're going to be an environmentalist with the kind of work he expects. Nice man, but I wouldn't recommend this class.
i guess these kids didn't like his class but he is a really nice fellow. received an A- in environmental ethics by writing a few decent papers and raising my hand once in a while
DO NOT TAKE HIM! WORST PROFESSOR EVER!
BORING, very vague, monotone.
ABSOLUTEEEEELY HORRIBLE! WISH I WOULD OF READ THE PAGE BEFORE I SIGNED UP FOR HIM, GLAD I CAN TELL YOU GUYS WHAT YOUR IN FOR.. UGH! HORRIBLE! GOOD LUCK NOT FALLING ASLEEP, HORRIBLE ASSIGNMENTS, NEVER IS CLEAR WITH WHAT HE WANTS, SO CONFUSED HIIMSELF.
Run, don't walk, to your advisor and get out of this class. Go...now...don't look back, just do it.
okay so this guy is soooo boringg! but he is really passionate about the earth and the environment.. make sure in ur papers u right everything he asks for step by step! most of the time during class he explains what he wants in them. be specific. He wrote the book which is boring as hell and hard to understand. just try to pay attention
If you need a good nap, here you go!
WORST TEACHER EVER!
boring friday morning class but he is very knowledgeable about the environment. essays are straight foward and taken right from his own text! easy A if thats what you're looking for
raise your hand and get involved in class discussions. text book use is EVERYDAY, a must read before class. i feel like participation highly increased my grade for the class.
hes pretty boring but is generally a nice guy. the readings are long and lame but as long as you try to pay attention, know how to write a decent essay, and get involved once in awhile in class its an easy A
I had him for major religious writing. It was the most boring classe I have ever taken. He is a nice guy but does not know how to present the information in an interesting manner. Also he doesn't explain the text, he wants us to "think critically". I'll tell you the class was really easy though. Consists of 4 essays no tests. Very boring but easy!
He is a nice guy and means well. Is willing to help. Is not an easy A, grades the papers very strictly. The class is really boring.
Great professor, sparked my interest in the subject. Made the class interesting and encouraged discussion. This is an easy class, but u will leave the class more knowledgable about the subject. I enjoyed his teaching style and class. I have taken this professor before and would reccomend him
I had a very good experience in this class. Yes, the class is challenging, but I believe that it was college courses should be. I found the Professor to be very knowledgeable, interesting and helpful. He just expects you to do your part and read the material, show up to class and participate, which is to be expected. I was very pleased!
I really enjoyed Prof. Foster's class. Theology can be a bit abstract therefore, a bit challenging but the Professor is very knowledgeable, willing to explain and clarify. He's also very nice and helpful if you need. If you're looking for any easy A, it's not the Professor for you, but if you do the work required, you will learn and do well.
Boring
Readings are mandatory, its theology so the class is a little boring but he is a nice guy. If youre confused, speak to him after class, he is willing to clarify. Wasn't bad got an A-
RUN VERY FAST!!! This is the worst class ever. Environmental ethics is made to be very boring. He wants persons to believe the earth is formed by the vomit of amebas that choked in their own vomit for us to have life?!!!! Don't take it!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! He is extremely boring!!! He doesn't help with an assignment and he is very vague with what he wants in it!!! He just stands at the front of the room lecturing for an hour and half!!! RUN!
Very helpful. Made class interesting!
Horrible class and not a good teacher. Could not understand what he wanted from the essays, and horrible grader. Very boring. Randomly calls on and embarrasses students.
THIS IS A HORRIBLE CLASS TO TAKE WITH THIS PROFESSOR. HE HAS LONG LECTURES WITH A MONOTONE VOICE. HE EMBARRASSES YOU IN CLASS AND MAKES ASSIGNMENTS TO COMPLICATED. BORING AND NOT WORTH YOUR TIME AND ENERGY
The subject can be a little boring but he is more than fair. Attend class and put some effort into the assignments and an "A" is possible. The first paper is the toughest. Gives no exams. Just participate a little and pay attention when he shows movies. He deducts points for texting, sleeping, etc. Gives chances for extra credit and re-writes.
Okay, This teacher does have an understanding of the class subject. However, He does not know how to give his knowledge to his students. He will comply and help you out as much as you can. If you give your feedback and show you care about passing He will definitely put in the effort to help you pass. Do Not listen to people say otherwise
Overall, very straight forward and helpful if you reach out to him. Do your papers according to his guidelines, and keep up with the IMO light reading and you'll do fine on the occasional pop quiz. Class can be long but he deserves more credit. I was so scared to take him because of the reviews but he's a really nice guy.
He seems like a very sweet man and he is willing to help you as much as he can but the lectures are long and boring and there is one test and three extremely hard to write papers that his requirements are crazy, like who uses 10 font? try to avoid taking him for this course at least, actually just avoid taking environmental ethics all together.
He's very friendly outside of class and is great if you have any questions about the department. His papers weren't easy for me, I've never had a professor truly dislike my essays, I just couldn't write what he was looking for. The readings were long and a little boring. stay alert and take notes, he will ask questions. Overall not the worst class
He was no help at all. The class was a total waste of time. He would just stand there and talk about the most irrelevant things. The books were boring, he is monotone, there is hardly any class discussion and when you ask a question he never clearly responds. Don't take any class of his.
When asked a question he doesn't clearly answer you. There are no tests which may be the only plus to taking him. You have to read a ridiculous in a limited amount of time, then write a paper on the topic with vague directions. The required books are not the easiest to understand then on top of his complicated paper assignments. . . good luck.
I am a nursing major & needed a Theology credit for GenEd requirements. I think Foster's ratings are unfair would be higher if he didn't teach a subject that many people are uninterested in. Religious study is his interest & he deserves to be respected. Although sometimes boring material, he is a really sweet guy who has no problem helping you out.
I had him for Theology and he gave 4 pop quizzes and 4 written essays in total for the semester. Lectures are a little boring, but would still recommend taking him, because he cares about his students, and makes himself available if you have questions or need clarification.
He is a good lecturer, but not a good professor. His class is easily prolonged by his endless lecturing and gives very little room for class participation. Also, he gives pop quizzes which are a bit tough if you haven't kept up with the reading. If you do well on his papers, you can easily make up getting C's on his quizzes. I would pass on him.
At first, I had no idea where I stood because he is a tough grader & gives difficult pop quizzes. On the bright side, he lets you rewrite papers but has a strict outline to his essays. As long as you take notes and don't miss class, the essay is an easy A. He takes a day out to outline the entire essay. He gave extra credit too. No tests!
the style of teaching is awful ... simply awful i have never been so confused in a class because an instructor just refuses to answer questions! Hes rude and dismisses ideas before even hearing them out. i feel as though i have to change my major because i am fearful of ending up in another of these classes.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO EMBARRASSED IN MY LIFE BECAUSE OF THIS CLASS
If you're taking ethics - I'd say skip this class. He means well, but his lectures are boring and is the most least interesting teacher I've ever met. You could pay attention all you want and you'll probably still struggle with this class. I wouldn't rate him as awful because he at least allows you to retake some assignments lest you bad on them.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!! DROP THE COURSE IF POSSIBLE!!!
This professor likes to hand out such convoluted directions for his projects that you are assigned to in class. Then you spend days trying to figure out what he wants - which he'll get annoyed at you for not understanding. For an entry level ethics class, this class is one of the most difficult I've ever taken. Avoid this class any way you can.
He is the nicest professor I ever came across at Molloy, he genuinely cares about his students! Only took this class bc it was a requirement & ended up loving it bc he made it so interesting! He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable & passionate! He clearly states what he wants from you in essays, as long as you follow directions you will be perfect! TAKE!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. All he does is stand and talk the whole time and is so boring, no tests but heavy writing assignments. Wish I dropped it when I had the chance.
I would not recommend taking a class with him. A few of us joined his class late into the semester and we've told him repeatedly we haven't had access to the textbook (it is one he created and he has to call printers to get it). We haven't been able to complete the work because of it and he blamed us. He's boring and can't engage with the class.
Never take this professor. He means well & is very nice, but it's DREDFUL. He talks the whole lecture straight through. HEAVY writing assignments with very specific criteria. Wants size 10 font and other ridiculous things. Makes his own textbook and expects you to read it. You need the textbook for the course but you'll never understand it.
I honestly wish I dropped the course when I had the chance. He makes absolutely no sense, the only notes we have is the text book that he made with literally religious articles in it THAT'S IT. If we had actual notes & he tried to engage with his students, maybe I'd be doing decent on the essay's we're assigned. Needless to say, don't take him.
Worst professor ever. Drop his class. Papers are impossible and he makes no sense .
He is a great professor with a lot of knowledge though he is a tough grader. The essays are very difficult therefore you must understand what he expects from you and email him for any help b/c he's always willing to help. If he sees that you put effort, he will give you a chance to do extra credit to bring up your grade which is nice of him.
Terrible professor I mean honestly I cant tell you how frustrated I am with this man because his way of teaching is just horrible. You wont understand a thing that he says because its all on his opinion. Worst professor at Molloy and if I had the chance I shouldve dropped him when I had the chance.
By far the worst professor I have ever had. His lectures are so boring and literally makes no sense theres one test which is literally impossible no multiple choice no one in the class got above a 50 thats pathetic. His other three papers makes zero sense! Do not take this professor!!
English is my third language, and i still managed to pass with a B+. His class is indeed hard, but not impossible.
Professor Foster is a very sweet man with great intentions. His papers can be challenging but he gives you the opportunity to revise them with his feedback. He's always available to talk to and really cares about his students. This will be a class where you have to work for your grade but as long as you speak with him you will do well in the class.
Very nice, and respectful professor, took a class over the Summer which was over 8 days a 13 week course is to be taught. Pay attention to what he says and what he lectures about, do not take it with a grain of salt. He gives you the tools to succeed, its whether or not you use them and take advantage of them, your grade will reflect based on that
The class was overall not what i was expecting. The class was very informative and very well put together. Some parts were a little long but overall his enthusiasm for what he was teaching made it interesting. He was very respectful man and very well educated on his background. He took the time to explain in depth in parts that i did not get.
This professor is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. He is super knowledgeable and respectful. The class was very interesting and informative. Get ready to read and write a lot! Even though his papers are challenging, Professor Foster does a great job to guide you in the right direction and gives good feedback.
Awesome man! By far the sweetest professor i have met. took the time to explain and elaborate on topics to make sure we understood.
Really caring and kind professor! He wants you to do well and you can tell he loves his job. He will go out of his way to help you and make sure you're understanding the material. If you're afraid of not doing well just ask for his help and he will help you! Really passionate teacher and would recommend to other students.
I toke this class for the credit. To start Professor Foster is boring with his Lectures. You will be assigned some readings, not too bad. His writing assignments are difficult and makes no sense. Very tough grader.
I really wish I RAN when I had the chance. Taking this prof was honestly the worst mistake I ever made during my time at Molloy. Someone give me a time machine so I can drop him and avoid the stress I now have to deal with this. He runs the class like we are all aspiring theologians...
He's a tough teacher and you REALLY have to pay attention in class to do well. Don't skip class and try your best to focus and take notes. The class I felt at first was impossible but if you put in the work it will show. He's always available and a nice man. The reviews are way worse than he is. If you're on the lazier side of a student don't take.
Foster is a professor that only comes around once. I took his class titled Beyond 9/11, his course that he taught alongside an Egyptian Professor provided valuable insight into the Muslim world and completely shifted my views on the war on terror. I'm a fiction writer, and Matthews view on current events gave me new creative perspective
Lectures for an hour and a half every class, extremely boring. 5 papers we had to write from a 500 page textbook. Almost seems like he thinks every student is a religion major when nobody is and they're only taking the class bc we need to. Have to actually read the textbook to do the work.
Do not take him, Im warning yall! His lectures are long and boring.. gives us mad papers we have to write based off his method and if we dont do it his way, youre literally going to get dropped a whole letter grade on your papers. The textbook is like 500 pages. He gave us a final paper AND final exam. Imagine being in a 9am class for 3hrs smh
By far the most boring professor Ive ever had. Does not show any slideshows or give you any classwork. All he does is read from the textbook and lecture for over an hour STRAIGHT. Do not take!!!
For an elective class, he makes everyone buy a $60 textbook that he wrote! He also talks for the entire class. DEFINITELY DO NOT TAKE IF YOU ARE A VISUAL LEARNER!! The lectures are lengthy and boring
Really nice guy , he is extremely tough grader. He lectures the whole class and is boring. He is very understanding and a good guy but as a professor he is difficult.
Words cannot begin to express how difficult this class is. The class description itself does not seem that difficult but it is. I thought I would be able to do well in his class considering my extensive background in Theology and English courses but I was very wrong and would suggest that no one takes his class in the future. You will regret it.
DO NOT TAKE FOSTER if you are just trying to get an essay A ! He genuinely believes all his students are theology majors. There is so much reading, and long lectures, he really enjoys to hear himself talk. Besides that he really is such a great person, and super interesting , insightful and informative . The class is not easy be prepared to work.
Very difficult grader. The papers are the most difficult things I have had to write just for a class that isn't even anyone's major. Avoid.
Prof Foster is a very caring man. He was the only option open for theo and I read his reviews on here & I was afraid. However, he isn't bad just read, go to him if u need help When he sees that u actually care & want to do well and u take his class serious you will get good grades. yes its alot of work, but theres alot of work but ull b fine
Dr. Foster is the toughest grader I have ever encountered, and does not give any notes or slides during his lectures. However, if you keep in touch with him through email, speak with him after class, and participate, he would love to help! He also allows students to redo papers if they are not happy with the grade.
I would be lying if I said this class wasn't difficult. The papers were long and tedious and required a lot of reading to be completed. However, Foster was a good professor and he did seem to care. Extra credit was always offered and an option to redo a paper for a better grade. Overall if you are lazy don't take this class but it is doable.
Professor Foster is a great guy, extremely caring but a hard grader! If you respect him he will respect you. Pay attention and take notes a lot of what he says will help you to write your task papers!
I loved Dr. Fosters approach to teaching. He not only taught a subject he is passionate about, but taught us our responsibility as students in having a scholarly exchange. He got us to think about the subject. We learned to argue the subject with facts and state our opinions and solutions to the problem.
This professor requires so much outside reading that if you don't read, you will be confused. Even if you do read, you will be confused. He requires you to buy an $80 book that has random stuff in it that he does not go over. He lectures but does not use slides, its off the top of his head and is boring and hard to focus. Do not take him!!!!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He lectures you until your ears bleed. He does not give good feedback. He has his own grading system and it is bizarre. He wants you to participate but doesn't actually let you speak when you try. He makes you buy a book he wrote to make money off of you. His assignments require way to much time for a class like this.
DO NOT TAKE FOSTER. Worst professor I have ever taken hands down. He makes money off his students because creates a textbook of articles that you HAVE to buy in order to pass. His grading system makes no sense, he does not care about his students, can be very arrogant, and the way he assigns work/ gives instructions is extremely unclear.
Do not take any class taught by this professor. He is incredibly boring and will lecture you for an hour and a half. He has a very odd way of grading. His papers are so hard and require a tremendous amount of reading. He makes you buy three textbooks that you have to bring to class. Would not recommend.
This was asynchronous, but there was SO much reading, lectures, and films to watch. The paper's due dates were so rushed compared to how much we had to research each religion. He just talks forever during his lectures about things that aren't relevant. I just took this class for a theology credit. Keep up with the reading or he can tell.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! Gives more work than any not Gen-Ed class, a lot of reading, and long lecture videos. Doesn't have a standard grading rubric and grades based on "his opinion of your work." Inaccessible. Made the deadlines shorter this semester so we have less time to do all the work. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Dr Foster is the most caring professor ever. He realized with COVID things have been tough and worked with us to make sure we didnt fall behind or become overwhelmed. We are in Molloy people, classes in general are going to be more tough. He had 5 task papers in total. He gets back to you via email within a day. Super understanding and caring!!!!!
As a person, he's really nice, and means well, but his lectures are sorta a hit or miss. Although this subject never really interested me all that much, when he saw students struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic, he reduced the workload to a more manageable size. If it stays like that, then give the class a shot; if not, switch out.
Papers need to be done in a specific manner so read the directions carefully. Prof. Foster gives plenty of extra credit opportunities USE THEM! you will read a lot and research a lot but if you put in the work you will do well. This isn't a do the assignment the night before kind of class so give yourself enough time to complete the assignments.
Very nice and cares about his students but there is a large amount of work to be done. Instructions are pages long. If you are confused about something he clarifies it and gives examples. He also gives a lot of extra credit assignments. Textbook is very important and vital to passing the class. Great professor overall.
Conveys deep knowledgeable regarding the subject matter. Teaching style is providing information via different conduits i.e., educational video, reading materials, at the students' feet but allowing them the time and space to draw their own conclusions. Many extra credit opportunities. Be prepared to read/watch hours long content.
The professor is readily available via email to answer questions, knowledgeable about the subject matter. Content for assignments and assignments themselves are long and detailed but not difficult. High focus on what the student organically gathers through the readings/materials, not just researching articles and citing them. Do the extra credit.
