Professor Greene was great. He teaches with powerpoints and as long as you copy those into your notes, the tests will be a breeze. The only thing I used my textbook for was the vocabulary, and the random things he didn't talk about in class that were on his study guides. Definitely reccommend him!
his lectures are really boring, he didnt have a power point in my classrom so he took time each day to write the stuff before he tought it. only four exams including the final for your grades plus participation/attendance. he does take attendance but only cause he has too, if youre there for the majority you should be ok. easy class though
Good teacher. Gives you all of the information you need during his powerpoint presentations. No homework!!! Only 4 tests and he gives you a study sheet the week before.
This guy knows what he's talking about! One of the best teachers I have ever had. If you have to take sociology and you don't like it, this is the teacher for you.
One word BORING!!! He just stand there and reads off the powerpoint. some class disscussion but thats it. lets us out 20 min early every class which is nice but its only a 50 min class. He's also very biased in his views but that should be expected with sociology. I would notn take him. he does give easy tests with a review sheet b4 hand
I took the honors course. Very easy teacher but not very exciting;class consists of taking notes off of power points and occasional video clips. Grade is based on participation, 3 papers (on 3 books), and the final (short answer and essay questions). If you want a teacher who will make you think and lead great discussions, look for someone else.
Well, the 2nd day of class he took photos of us so he'd remember our names. :p A little awkward. At least he means well. Hes an alright teacher (boring) but I was hoping for some more depth and discussion. His bias is obvious, even if he tries to hide it. If you want easy take him, but Id say no if you're looking to learn a lot and be interested.
The class was basically taking notes off Powerpoints every day. Not difficult, but somewhat boring.
I am taking this course online and he has assigned so much work. Very time consuming. I might have been better off taking it in class. 15 hrs. of work/week for this class. 5 Essays, 20 tests on text, 9 workbook assignments, 5 internet assignment and additional fiction book and a film. Way too much for an intro class.
His class is all taking notes off a powerpoint. You don't even need to own the book to pass the class. However his tests often had somewhat random questions with ambiguous wording. He's very easy and laid back but not very engaging. Also NEVER made eye contact except to scold for talking.
I think he changed his curriculum this semester because the work is really hard. You pretty much have to read the whole book yourself. He gives a few notes, but not much. It is mandatory to do online reading questions(quiz) for each chapter in the book. They are worth more than the exams! 450/1000 total pts. Definately HARD and time consuming.
I like professor Green he is a very nice person and means well. But it takes him 3 days to cover like 4 slides no joke! Sociology is a very interesting topic and I wish he would get students more engaged in the topics. Quizzes are a joke and so are his tests easy A. But in this case too easy I really didn't learn much and was hoping to learn a lot.
Prof Green is a quirky little dude. He reminded me of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory. He looks like he collects salamanders on the weekends and goes home to cook intricate dinners for his action figures. Overall, the class was easy. Worst thing about it was all of the powerpoints.
Prof Green is the best! I have taken two sociology classes with him. He's laid back and funny. Take notes and read the assigned chapters! You'll do great! You will NOT regret taking him:)
Prof. Green is a great. He makes the classes very interesting and relevant. He is low key which is nice. Not a lot of stress. If you do the work you will get the grade. Highly recommend him!!
Mr. Green is a amazing teacher. Attendance is mandatory but his class is actually really interesting. His lectures aren't boring like others. Hes very understanding. As longas you pay attention in class you will do good on the tests. He lets you use your notes on the tests which is very helpful. Great professor. Best I've had hands down.
The statistics of sociology class online is HARD!!!!! Professor is helpful but it is extremely difficult to grasp assignments!
I took a sociology class in high school, could be why it was so easy. He's really down to earth, very clear in explaining (almost dumbs it down). Attendance is better he ask in-class questions on tests. Lots of work in book but open note quizzes & tests. Answers emails right away, understanding if you miss class.
Matthew Green is extremely interesting and kind. He cares greatly for his class, and is overall a really nice guy. His class is never boring, and he doesnt ask much of his students. Never any homework, and are only online quizes and 3 tests. You will not regret taking Professor Green :]
Great teacher! Seriously his class lectures are interesting and he lets you use the notes you take in class on your test. There are online quizzes but if you read the book you will do just fine. Straight forward nice guy take him if you're interested in sociology and actually want to learn interesting things.
Professor Green is awesome! He is super helpful and caring. Make sure to not miss class because the notes you take in class are allowed for tests, and the tests are DIRECTLY for the in class notes. He gives you online quiezes which are not that bad, just make sure you read the chapter. Professor Green is a great instructor! Take him!! :)
PHENOMENAL PROFESSOR!! VERY kind and understanding and his class is very clear. You always know what to expect because he is one of the few teachers who actually follows his syllabus. Lectures are interesting and notes can be referenced for the tests. He is the best professor that I have had at COD and I HIGHLY recommend him...AWESOME GUY!!! :-)
Class is easy as long as you take notes and read the book. Online quizzes worth 20 points for each chapter total of 100 points online quizzes bfr any exam. Total of 4 exams, each includes 5 chapters plus you can use notes too. NO FINAL!! participation, and attendance grade is included plus you have to be there in time EASY A!!
Reasonable class. Tests are open note, quizzes are online, 5 per unit. Plenty of time to get the quizzes done especially because they are open book and answers are straight out of the book. Come to class, take the notes, use them on the test and do the online quizzes and it's an A. The quizzes are kind of hard if you don't read before hand
He is a super cool guy. Teaches using really cool style of powerpoint that keeps you interested. He understands that his class is taken by a lot of kids who just want to find out what sociology is and his intro class is exactly that. A fun way to learn about the subject. I had fun and if i would have put more effort totally could have aced it.
In class he uses prezi to go over the book chapters. After realizing the notes were useless I spent everyday reading the book in class which was really nice not doing it at home. The online quizzes are simple, there online practice quizzes available from the book manufacturer. For the papers remember to cite page #'s and use tons of paragraphs.
Very friendly. Each chapter has a quiz on bb but they are super easy and you need the book. Midterm and final can use notes from lecture. The questions are picked straight from notes. Tip: write down some of the statistics because those are on the midterm and final too. Can be a little dry depending on your interest level. Easy take him!
Stats is hard, but Professor Green is VERY helpful. I only needed to come in a couple of times for help. If you need stats, take Green. Don't be lazy, it'll haunt you. Assignments are easy and worth a lot. I did not need my fancy calculator.
He was amazing. I highly recommend his class. I got an A. As long as you take notes and study the notes as well as show up, you will get an A. He's a quiet guy, but so awesome. I would love to take him again.
Dr. Green is very knowledgable about his field, and a very good teacher at that.
What a GREAT THEACHER!!Very nice guy, organized knows his stuff. There are 5 online quizes per every unit, you have to read the book to pass and they arnt as easy as you may thing but not horrible . Open notes for tests in class, so just show up take notes and you will do well . It's nice to know that some people actually love their job.
Test are open note but most go to every class to get the notes. 15 online quizzes. 30 mins to take them. Tip ( use quizLet for them and google). No homework. Great professor. No papers. Lecture is really fun and you talk about important topics. Another tip is don't miss one class bc his notes that he gives out really word for word on the test.
Dr. Green was a great professor. He understands how it's like to be a student and definitely grades you reasonably. The sociology material was a piece of cake, easy quizzes. I took the honors section and we had to write papers, rather than tests, and I gotta say, they were actually fun to write. The final was a project of my own choosing. Good guy!
Peaceful professor.. and very easy.. open notes exams.... and take all the notes in class even the examples he gives out... its all on the exams.. very easy class and professor..
Love this class and the professor was AWESOME! All tests are open note and as long as you show up to class and take notes, the tests are right off the power points he goes over in class. He is super understanding, had to miss two classes because I was sick and he emailed me the notes that were presented in class.
I had Mr. Green for Social Problems. The class material was interesting, but his voice is so monotone and there was no expression on his face. It made the class incredibly boring and long. It would have been cool to have a teacher who was enthusiastic and encouraged debate. He was really nice though, nothing against him as a person.
Professor Green was awesome! He posted videos to help you understand the homework assignments & the tests were so easy! (Since you can use your book) Never made you go in to take an exam & there wasn't even a final! Easy A or B! He understands you have other classes & doesn't pile on homework. Syllabus is followed & you know what to expect!
Prof. Green was overall a good math professor. He posted videos on guiding us how to do some of the hw assignments correctly. Pretty fair grader although he would randomly take some points off without saying why. He took a LONG time to grade, sometimes even a month! There's no final & no paper. Oh and sometimes he doesn't reply to our emails.
It seemed like he didn't even want to be teaching this course& being in his sociology class, I could tell w/o asking tht he was also a math teacher. Lectures focus mostly on charts from the book. Also, no class discussion, which is what i like about socio classes. He's not a bad person, he just shouldn't be teaching a sociology class. super boring.
Prof. Green is great! Its obvious that he is passionate about what he teaches and if you show up to class and participate he will appreciate you as a student and it will reflect in your grade for sure! The readings aren't necessary because he does show powerpoints that reflect the exams which are open note!
This class was an easy A. He lets you use any notes you took in class on the test. Show up to get the notes or ask someone if you miss because you will need them for the test. You will need the textbook for online quizzes. They're pretty easy since you can use your book. He is a nice guy and would help you understand any material you didn't get!
Green is one of the most reasonable humanities professors I've met. He doesn't require some bogus "research" paper from his intro level courses. Instead, he seems like he genuinely wants to increase his students' awareness of the issues sociologists study. Classes are lecture heavy but interesting.
Professor Green is very nice but it took half of the semester for me to understand the software. Listen, the SPSS work is the hardest. Just follow the directions in the book verbatim, and watch his 10 min lectures and you'll receive an A. I figured that out too late in the semester.
I'm really surprised Green doesn't have a higher rating. It is very easy to get a good grade in his class. You take the notes, and all of the questions on the test are based off of them as well as videos we watched, PLUS you get to use your notes on the test. Extra credit is available. Very easy going class and would love have him again.
Prof. Green is great! At first I was hesitant to take his online class because there are hw and quizzes per chapter. Quizzes are multiple choice and short answer. Literally read the whole book considering it's online! He posts videos to explain how to do the homework and how he wants you to answer it, which helps a lot. No paper and final.
The easiest A you could ever possibly take. For each chapter you take an online quiz, which you can literally google all the answers to. There's 3 exams for the semester, and HE LETS YOU USE YOUR NOTES ON EVERY EXAM. He also gives a 40pt extra credit opportunity (not that you'll even need it). All in all, extremely nice guy and good lectures too!
Prof. Green's class is very simple. Easy A. The class in general is kind of boring. Exams are taken straight from his powerpoints but he doesn't post them on blackboard so you have to take notes. If you do that I promise you will ace every test and the class. Tests are open notes. He occasionally plays videos that are entertaining.
Prof. Green is awesome, class is super easy! Take god notes of prezi(presentations) and you will easily get an A.
My favorite teacher by far. He is super nice and the classwork is not hard at all. He explains everything very well and answers your questions thorough. I completely recommend Professor Green.
SUCH AN AWESOME INTERESTING GUY!!!!! All tests are open note. Every class he lectures on a prezi and if you copy the slides word for word (he goes slow to give you time to write) you will get an A on every test. Textbook reading and quizzes that pertain to reading on blackboard. I took him twice and I would highly recommend him to anyone!
Prof. Green is really passionate about what he is doing. For the most part as long as you show up and take notes you'll pass. You can use notes on the tests which helps a lot.
Great guy, very relaxed personality, really enjoyed his class; one of my favorite professors yet!
This class was pretty easy, just 3 big tests with essays, Green is so nice andlaid back. Tests are open note so take good notes and you will get an easy A.
Class was super easy, you do need to go to class because all the notes and topics he discusses in class WILL be on the tests (which were all open note). Frequent online quizzes based off of chapter readings from the book, but you could get away with not reading. A few "essay question papers" based off of the book we were reading during class.
Professor Green is extremely down to earth. The class layout is pretty simple: show up to class, take notes, and you should be in good shape! It is necessary that you attend class because he does not post his notes. Overall, great professor and a pretty easy class, but you still learn a lot!
His lectures were fairly straight forward and the syllabus he gives is followed pretty well. The majority of your points will be based around the tests he gives. The tests were open note so if you pay attention, show up on time and take notes during the lecture it should be an easy pass. Very easygoing and polite person too.
Professor Green is a solid teacher. He's easy going and doesn't make the intro to sociology a bore-fest. The class is pretty damn easy. Take him if you can
Graded on attendance, participation, homework, and 3 tests (no comprehensive final). Show up to every lecture and copy down everything on the screen, including statistics. He lets you use your notes on every test. Easiest class I've taken in college so far.
Professor Green was truly one of the nicest guys I have met. He wants everyone to get an a. His test are open book so show up to class. There are reading test but they arent hard. Take him, hes awesome
I was a little hesitant to take SOC STATS 2205 online during the summer. I am terrible at math and was trying to avoid any type of "hard" math. I did have to read the book, front to back, however this class was bearable. He uploads videos to explain assignments. If you're like me and wanna avoid math at all costs, take this class!
If you show up, you'll get an A. All test material is over his lectures. All answers for quizzes are easy to find, don't even need to read textbook. Don't need to read "Evicted" either, just look up chapter summaries for essays. Allows page of notes for test, where you can put all notes on. No cumulative final.
Hes is my favorite COD teacher for sure! He made me want to come to class every week! I talk about what he teaches us outside of class too all the time its super interesting! Grade is based on 4 tests (open note), 16ish reading quizzes (4 each unit),attendance (super understanding if you send him an email with a heads up),& participation. TAKE HIM!
Absolutely amazing! Show up to class and copy all notes down. He allows you a note sheet for exams which are word for word from lectures. He's hilarious and actually makes the course interesting. A reading quiz for every unit which was easy. Evicted was used for the essay portion for exams. He is very understanding and responds to emails quickly.
Introduction to Sociology was really easy for me!For class you have to buy the book, because of quizzes he makes you do online. His quizzes are very straight forward, I never got below a B on them. His test are also very straight forward, you get a two sided cheat cheat to bring. Go to class for notes and participation points. A very easy A!
Great teacher!! Doesn't give a crazy amount of homework and it is pretty easy to do, It won't take you longer then 30 mins to get the homework done. Extra credit is super easy and definitely worth doing. Taking notes is big in this class but it is also not hard as long as you show up to class. You will also be able to use your notes during test.
He is very knowledgeable and has amazing power points that aid in understanding the course content.
I was scared to take stats, but Mr. Green is a sweetheart. I met with him once during office hours and he was helpful. I was nervous about my grade as some chapters are really hard, but he reassured me a couple poor exam grades wouldn't ruin my overall grade. I ended up passing no problem with an A. Read, take notes, & focus on the assignments.
Math is not exactly my strongest subject, so at first I was hesitant about taking stats online. The course is not overwhelming and very manageable. There was a multiple choice question quiz, free response quiz, and an assignment for each chapter. Mr. Green posted step by step videos how to do the assignments. Responds to emails. Overall, great!
First few weeks he was okay. Lectures become heavy as the time pass by. He never answered any of my e-mails. In the end, I saw on the blackboard that he put 10 points off on my participation grade and on my question "why" he just said that he can't give everybody 100 points.
He's a great prof, sometimes I zone off in class but class is pretty simple. The InQuizzitives are simple and worth the points. The tests are easy if you are in class and take note. You get cheat sheets on his tests. I rarely read the textbook and got a great grade in the class.
He is a chill professor and lets you use notes on every test. I never read the textbook and I have an A. As long as you write down notes that he has on the board, you'll get an A in the class.
Easiest class. Green is a good prof. The class is interesting. You can use notes on your tests. There are weekly online quizzes, but you have the chance to do it until a 100%. There are notes from class slides that you need on tests, so going to his class is important. But, if you listen and take notes you're guaranteed an A.
This class was really easy and I wish all honors classes were like this. You take notes (attendance is required & part of your grade is showing up) and the notes are word for word on the exam. He allows you a cheat sheet and all the notes fit on it. Inquisitive are easy. Never read the textbook and got a solid A. Hes also really nice, TAKE HIM!
He is awesome ! he is super nice and his lectures are very interesting, tests are just like his lecture slide shows, so don't skip class and take good notes and you will do good! would definitely take him again. Best honors class ever!
Easiest professor Ive had at cod, such an easy A! Just show up to class and youll pass. Though theres a lot of online homework in InQuizitive but all the answers were easy to find in the textbook. He lets us have a cheat sheet for every exam and you can literally fit all your notes in a notebook sheet of paper and use them!! No way to fail
I would take him again although he takes forever to grade. Took him online for 16 weeks. 12 units which all include a SPSS Assignment, a multiple choice test that is super easy, and a written test that is pretty simple. If you read and reach out for help you will get an A or B.
Prof. Green is a great guy. Very educated guy who is very passionate about what he teaches. As for the class, show up and take notes. Pay attention to the data presented during the lectures as a lot of times there is questions about it on the exams. Simple weekly homework assignments. 3 exams, easy. I hope to take another one of his courses again!
Overall a good teacher. There wasn't any actual lessons on the material but he did provide a how-to video for each homework assignment which helped a lot. Each unit there is one multiple choice quiz and one short answer quiz and HW. You mostly have to learn the material from the book but he does help if you ask for it. I would recommend this class
Great teacher for socio1100. He responds to his emails within a good time duration. He easily takes off points for the essay questions even though all the requirements are met, but overall I recommend this professor to anyone!
Professor Green does the minimum. His lectures don't go over the chapter unless its talking about numbers - pay attention because they're on quizzes. Reading the chapters will help a ton on quizzes. Responds to emails and puts grades in after awhile. If you want to learn and be excited for class, DONT take his class.
Professor Green doesn't seem to enjoy teaching his course. This attitude is seen clearly. Lectures aren't helpful at all - only includes stats from the text and no other important material. You have to teach yourself. Doesn't help students or cares. Class is boring. Review below says it all, TAKE SOMEONE ELSE.
I love classes that are relatively self paced. Stats doesn't come easy to most and his video demos are very helpful, you can tell he wants you to succeed. Terribly slow at grading, hard to know where exactly you stand in the class.
Mostly a textbook guided class, however the videos he provides alongside the unit assignments are a godsend. Each one walks your through the assignment, which is mega helpful if you're as daunted by SSPS as I was. Quick to respond to emails, very understanding, exams are short and divided by multiple choice and short answer. Overall great class.
He genuinely cares about what he's teaching and I love professors like that. He might have a rather bland tone but you can't really crap on voices, we can't change that. He's super understanding, and the homework is close to nothing. Midterm and finals are a literal easy breeze.
Green loves his quizzes as you get one every week. Quizzes are based on the past week of class but you'll find that there's a lot of questions asked in the quizzes that we never went over or are things he said not to write down. The class is interesting itself but Greens quizzes and his way of teaching are so poor it makes it unbearable.
Currently taking this class and it's been great so far. Quizzes are weekly but are fairly simple as long as you read the textbook chapter. Writing assignments are simple. Exams are EASY: he lets you use a page of notes if needed, everything is taken from notes in class. Very understanding professor as long as you communicate right. Love this class!
Prof. Green's class is super easy, & will not be one of those stressful classes you constantly have to worry about. He isn't the best at responding to emails promptly & doesn't have a strict syllabus with set deadlines on things (could stress some students out). However when he does post announcements, it is definitely with enough time to prepare.
Prof. Green is fantastic. He responds to e-mail quickly - he is willing to help students in whatever capacity. He does require you to purchase additional course materials. Prof. Green gives sufficient time to complete an assignment; you usually have a few days leading up to the deadline. He is charismatic, punctual, and very humble.
He was very understanding and gave clear guidelines on what you needed to do and how you were graded. When he accidentally made the exam time limit 2 hours instead of 1, he said "I'd rather give you too much time to complete the exam than too little". Very straightforward, respectful, answers your emails, and fair. I recommend.
His lectures are super interesting and tests are easy if you take notes during class. There are weekly quizzes based on the textbook, and a few essays through the semester based on a book. I'd recommend Professor Green to anyone!
Great teacher, lectures pretty boring but attendance mandatory. Just take notes and do well on the test and you'll be fine. Weekly Inquizzative. For big tests you get a whole cheat sheet.
The class was structed well with due dates spaces far in-between.There is a data system that you will be using to complete homework, but he provided step by step instructions for each homework set. There is a lot of vocab and application that you will need to understand for the tests. The book is a must since homework and test material come from it
I took Professor Green's class in 2022. Every week there was a few assignments to be done using SPSS and exams and he makes videos about the assignments which could be used as guidance to complete them. Exams have multiple choice and short answer questions. Very easy class and Professor Green was cool and made the class easily organized.
good professor lectures are pretty boring to be honest but easy class as long as you take notes and do your weekly inquizitves its pretty easy you get a cheat sheet front and back for the two tests this class has both worth 200 points
I ended the class with an 89.5% and he refused to raise my grade to an A. He assigns a fair amount of homework and all assignments were clear, however, he could have elaborated more when it comes to giving feedback on assignments, how am I supposed to improve if I get no feedback?
I took Stats online. You have to teach yourself EVERYTHING based only on the textbook. He takes points off for ridiculous things like "I would have preferred to see different variables" when that request is not in the actual assignment instructions. I cannot read your mind sir. On the short answer exams he'll mark you wrong and not explain why.
All we did was read the book and answer questions made by the book publisher. Midterm and final were written by him (I think) and worth 20% of the grade each. Do not take his online class. It was easy but I don't know what I was supposed to learn.
The website he used for the readings wasn't the best. Deducted points when things were wrong which I didn't really like but, not that bad. I agree with others that his feedback is very minimum. We had 4 short essays due and even when I missed a few points, I'd get very basic feedback like "good".
I enjoyed this class a lot! It was usually reading one chapter of the textbook a week and doing an online assignment course that you could keep doing until you get the grade you want, it typically took me about an hour to complete so I could get a 100% on all of them. The midterm and final were easy and theres 4 short essays that didn't take long!
he has four units each unit has 2 assignments and 4 exams that contain 5-15 questions 2 exams are multiple choice very easy. and two are easy questions also very easy. gives you 2 weeks to complete all assignments it took me an hour to finish all his homework. he shows you exactly how to do your assignments. makes the class so easy!
In a month class this professor post material day by day instead of laying out a short course for that class to get ahead
I am absolutely horrible at math, yet somehow I was able to pull out an A. Will post videos for all of the SPSS assignments which helped tremendously. Only downside is that he took forever to grade, and it was difficult to know exactly how you were doing. But otherwise a great teacher who was very helpful and responsive
Grades were basically just tests you take that have like 20 questions. It might seem like the stuff we learn is common sense but it's very important to take notes and if you don't then you will like not do good in this course. Like everyone else says, he is very statistics heavy.
You can get 100% in all the weekly assignments because you have unlimited attempts. If you're taking honors you'll have 3 essays and a data analysis exercise. The midterm and final exams were easy, you're allowed to have a cheat sheet and he only asks about the topics he explained in class.
Professor Green's class is structured well with clear instructions. The SPSS videos and free textbook are super helpful. unstuck ai was a game-changer for exam prep. Overall, an easy and organized class.
He is IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of and you don't even know there is something you need from him until long after the grading period is over to which he will not allow you to make up any credit. It takes him over a month to grade assignments to which you don't know that your assignments you submitted weeks before the due date need corrections! RUDE!
Professor Green was informative on the basics of Sociology, and his class was very straightforward. I would take his course again.
Dropped me for not having a code. Didn't reach out to see if maybe it was a mistake like most teachers have done in the past. Sent so many announcements instead of just giving you the information that's actually important.
I am not a "math person," but I was able to understand statistics in Professor Green's class. Great demonstrations, easy to follow along. Read the chapter, take a quiz, and answer some chapter lesson questions. Pretty stress-free. Also, used real statistical data, which was interesting.
