Take him! His goal is to make POLS easier. Genuinely cares about students. Communicate if you have issues. Extra credit at beginning/end of semester. Only tests are midterm/final. Other grades self-paced through required online textbook. Don't let them pile up. Attend lectures! Useful for understanding subject material and interesting/engaging.
He's so nice!!! The grade will be about half exam, half quizzes, except for some assignments he gives. This is intimidating, but the quizess are entirely off of textbook chapters, open note, three attempts each, and aren't that hard. The exam seems intimidating, but he reviews the material very well before the exam. He is very good, i recommend.
I definitely recommend Haydon for POLS! He makes content easy to understand, and his lectures are fun and very interesting! We usually discuss current events before lecture starts, making class worth looking forward to! There are a lot of extra credit opportunities and quizzes/exams are pretty easy! Take this class!!!
Great prof! I enjoyed Haydon because he did a review of current events during class. He genuinely wants to see you succeed and I highly recommend, even if you have to make the journey to VetMed. He's awesome!! Thank you Dr. Haydon!
I would not take him again. He just talks about his personal opinions and does not cover content that actually matters. He is rude and if you do not share his opinion he belittles you. I did not enjoy this course.
Fun professor! He is very caring and offers many extra credit opportunities. Mainly composed of two tests and a final. Other grades come from online test book chapter tests. Fairly easy, but not the most interesting. He means the best and will help you if he can. He seems to be right-winged so if you are not that, you may not like him that much.
Loved Professor Haydon and have recommended him to my friends. Would definitely take him again.
Haydon gives extra credit which makes getting an A doable but his structure is annoying. You don't need to go to class if you don't want to since a majority of his material is from his slides posted on canvas and the textbook. Go to the class before the test he gives answers. He is very partisan so he can get annoying quick sometimes.
Probably the best professor you can get for POLS 206. Haydon makes this class very easy, it is all self paced on Sage Vantage besides the exams. Plenty of extra credit opportunities are given.
This class is pretty easy and it really didn't matter how good the professor was. There were only 2 tests and 11 quizzes, but he provided plenty of extra credit opportunities.
I liked professor Haydon. I personally don't like pols but he makes the class enjoyable and not too hard. There are chapter quizzes that are online, open note, and not hard if you stay on track throughout semester. There are 2 tests that are not hard but you do need to study. Lots of extra credit and nice professor. Best prof for POLS 207.
Easy to get an A if an effort is put in. Tests are fair but don't expect 100%. Responds to emails quickly, gives out ~6.5% of total grade as extra credit. 95% of assignments are quizzes, 3 attempts, some questions are unfair but expect 13/15 for all. Often derailed lectures by talking about national news/sometimes 70% of class would be irrelevant.
There is no exams in this class. The only thing you are graded on is a final, a midterm, & easy at-home assignments. The final & midterm are tough, but he offers lots of extra credit! He is easy to get along with & a fair professor!
Great teacher, would talk about current politics at the beginning of each class and was funny to listen to. Hoping he rounds up my 89
The class itself is mostly maintainable and there is not much work throughout the year besides the midterm and the final. He does not do a great job preparing student for these but the questions are not awful in all. Personally I did not go to class as he usually ended up on very politicized tangents that I didn't care to hear. He is very partial.
Dr. Haydon actually had me look forward to POLS lectures! Very caring, relatable, and funny; started the class with current Texas/U.S. politics discussions and didn't just read off his slides. 2 exams + ~11 quizzes (50% of grade each). Appreciated having a POLS professor who taught us the facts + truth, and wanted us to think for ourselves.
He's very chill as a professor. It was nice to hear his opinions on current politics and he always encouraged us to form our own opinions. Sometimes these talks would take too much time from the lectures, but he always provided the slides and lecture notes ahead of time. I recommend attending the lectures, just to listen as you read.
Great professor, entertaining lectures if you show up to class. Could totally only come in for only the midterm and final and still make an A if you study the lecture notes beforehand.
Awesome prof! He made the class more interesting by having class discussions about modern day issues, which I enjoyed as a PoliSci major. I appreciated how he moderated discussions so people could safely voice their opinions. Two tests, a few quizzes, and tons of EC. Slides and textbook readings were helpful for the tests.
He is very sweet and likes to discuss what he's teaching with the class. No homework just quizzes that are taken at your own pace and you have three attempts. Certain chapters are due before the test but they're pretty easy quizzes. Attendance isn't mandatory but go the day before tests or two days before the test because he might give hints ;).
Dr. Haydon is a truly caring and funny person. There's TONS of extra credit and he rounds grades up at the end of the semester. The vantage quizzes are the only homework (each with 3 attempts) and there's 2 exams. Quiz questions come from the book and if you pay attention in class then you'll do good on the exams. He's the BEST pols professor!
Very relaxed, do the work and get an A
The exams are worth a lot of the grade, so study. Lectures were really all over the place and some exam questions are specific, even though he says they won't be. I would have had a B but I took advantage of the extra credit and it bumped up by grade a lot. Overall a nice guy and he will adjust for the class as needed
Professor Haydon is an amazing professor. His lectures can be all over the place at times, but he is very funny. He is also very accessible outside of class and will respond to emails very quickly. The course is pretty self-paced besides the exams and the textbook is online. He curves and gives a lot of extra credit.
This course is not super difficult, but the grades are very heavily Test-Concentrated. For the online section of the class the two exams make up 400 of the 500ish points in the grade, meaning that you have to do well on them to pass. The in-person class fell behind so there was a little extra credit available, but not enough to make a difference.
I took POLS 206 online, and the class essentially consisted of reading the textbook and taking notes, chapter quizzes, and a 100 question midterm and final. I suggest you take notes from his slides and also read the textbook. He gives extra credit depending on what chapter you finish the semester with. Overall an easy professor for this core class.
Haydon was a great professor! He gave out extra credit 3 times if you did extra assignments and showed up to class on certain days. The class is a final, midterm, and 10 online quizzes. I highly recommend him. He's also super easy to contact if you have questions. Look in files on Canvas and all of the slides and extra notes will be there.
Haydon is a nice guy, but it's difficult to do well in his class if you aren't passionate about political science. There are 2 exams and 10 quizzes that make up your grade, and some extra credit if you go to class. I don't have any particular care about political science so tests were super hard for me. Skill issue.
Haydon mainly used Vantage as his grades. There are weekly quizzes with three attempts each and you keep the highest grade. Write down the questions and answers for study material as the tests are based on this. He also gives a lot of extra credit. I could have easily gotten an A but I wasn't locked in.
Goated prof who loves to talk politics in a fair environment. Only assignments are one quiz per chapter (12 total) and exams. Basically no work and straightforward exams. Understanding guy too. Go to class because he gives surprise extra credit. Dont let the quizzes build up, do one a week and study for exams and its the easiest POLS credit ever.
The class is entirely based on the online textbook & 10-14 corresponding chapter quizzes. Averaged 40 pages a week for this class. Only 2 exams (midterm & final) so very test-heavy. His lectures were usually off-topic & useless for the exams. Extra credit in class & at the end tho.
honestly dont take this class if you want an easy A. this class is so test heavy that one bad grade will drop you down two letters. Do not recommend this class at all. I took it online btw. worst mistake ever, literally harder than both my chemistry and biology classes
Class is very easy I put pretty much no effort in and made a B just read the textbook (I didn't even fully read the textbook or else I would've made an A) however the textbook is lonngggg. It is interesting when you get around to reading it though
Only 2 exams. His lectures were just discussion and no actual teaching. Some of the content on the exams I had seen no where in the textbook or on his slides. Attend class for extra credit! He only gave 1 review session and cancelled the last one for the final, which was annoying. There are better options for professors in my opinion.
The class isn't an easy A. A majority of your grade will come from 2 hard exams (lockdown browser w/ camera). The only other work is 15 quizzes (answers on quizlet). However, do not hesitate to email him for help. Doing this brought me from a low B to an A, as he's very understanding, accommodating, and wants to see his students do well.
Sweet guy, lots of extra credit for those that attend class, but lectures are kind of useless. All grades were online, and he had a nice review session before the midterm. His content does lean conservative despite his claims of being politically neutral/ independent; however, that is not a reason to not take him. Overall, I would take him again.
Professor Haydon somehow made an easy class difficult. I recommend going to the lectures for extra credit opportunities, but he honestly just rambles about his conservative viewpoints and fails to teach the material. The exams cover content that was not taught in class nor the textbook. I would suggest taking a different professor for pols.
RUN, don't walk away from this class. Haydon made coming to class horrifying because of the things that came out of his mouth. He goes on rants every single class, ranging from 10 minutes to the entire lecture time, regarding his opinions about current events. You will not be able to get through the class's material and you will learn nothing.
The lecture is pretty useless and kind of boring, but he gives tons of extra credit and is very lenient with grading. It's not hard to get an A if you do the homework and study a little before the exams. Not bad overall.
We watched a PragerU video in class, that's all you need to know
Almost completely useless lectures. He will use the lecture time to go on spiels about his conservative beliefs. You will never learn a concrete thing about the material itself, only what he believes is right or wrong. He is a chill grader but, if you take anything away from this review, just let it be known that we watched a PragerU video in class
useless lectures, all he talks about is himself/his beliefs. super conservative. went to every lecture and he never lectured about anything that was actually important to the exams. take a different prof if you want to learn something about political science, honestly wasted my time in his class
Professor Haydon made his class very possible to do well in! He's got a good personality and energy in class! The tests were easy as long as you studied a bit, read the textbook, and listened to his lectures. The class was online but easily accessible! 10/10 recommend!!!
He was good about having relevant discussions in class and helping students be successful in the class. He was not one of those professors trying to trip students up, he always did what he could to set his students up for success.
The tests aren't bad, but he's so condescending in lecture. He just rambles about his political views (one time we didn't even start the lecture slides until 40 minutes into a 50 minute class) and he actively calls out students who have differing opinions, even if they aren't in class. If you try to argue with him, he'll mock you and shut you down.
Really bad at teaching
On multiple occasions Prof Haydon has spewed random biased political information. He tries to justify it by calling it "unbiased" but this is a POLS 206 class. Instead of teaching, he tries to justify the zionist terrorist genocide on Gaza. Unacceptable.
Dr Hayden is the most chill professor ever. This class is self paced and extremely easy. His tests can be on the more difficult side, but if you do the SI reviews and watch YouTube, you will do great! Sage Vantage is also a great resource that he uses. Also, make sure you go to class the day before the test.
You don't have to go to lectures, but he does give out extra credit at random and test questions are "accidently" leaked sometimes. His lectures are focused on main events relating them to the topics of the class. People who rate him low are either snowflakes who can't handle different ideas from themself, or people who hate out of class work.
Class is very exam heavy, but his exams are easy if you read the textbook and study! Extra credit at random during class and some exam questions. What the low raters say is true, he is very political in class imo, but he's still a great professor, if you can tolerate his biases then I would heavily recommend taking his class, I'm sure to take again
The professor doesn't really teach the material, instead he just talks about his own opinions. He literally spews nonsense during his lectures. He claims to be unbiased but just pushes his conservative views onto you and shames you for not agreeing with him. Lots of extra credit tho. Tbh, I'm a stem major so this is just a blow off class for me.
hilarious...ly awful professor. All he talks about is his conservative viewpoint, which is annoying whether you agree or not. He will call you out asking your opinion on what he says. I just wanted to learn so I can get this class over with, and he makes it impossible. I just started skipping lecture and read the textbook on my own time. Don't take
Okay, Yes, he's a political nut. But he GIVES you an A in this class. You'd have to TRY to get anything lower. He also makes connections with so many of his students which makes the class feel smaller. You have to listen to a bunch of long-winded rants, but I would certainly recommend him. If you're going to get your feelings hurt-steer clear.
Professor Haydon gets a lot of backlash for his conservative viewpoints, and many of his reviews are a reflection of JUST that. He's a nice guy who tries to give students as many opportunities for an A as possible. He makes good connections with students, gives small curves on exams, and offers ample extra credit. I'm moderate, he is a good prof.
Good professor. If you go to class (which you can skip and do just fine), he will challenge you to think in different ways. A very good professor for a POLS class. Tests are 100 questions which can throw you off, but they arent tricky. Also has a comical sense of humor especially in such a trivial time in politics.
Only talks about his political views- do not recommend him to anyone. Only a midterm and a final with 10 quizzes between. Class was a waste of time as he only talk on lecture for about 10 minutes while the other 40 are spent talking about his views and unrelated topics. Will give EC at most random times and will call you out to make fun of you.
absolutely insufferable. 650% of his lectures are rants about his grieveances with the "woke mob" while the rem 35% are reading off slides. unempathetic to the point of misgendering dylan mulvaney multiple times and justifing the witch hunt against her. you're better off doing the quizzes in bed and watching circus videos on youtube than attending
His lectures were unhelpful for exams, but the discussions on current events were interesting. At least four times he gave extra credit just for attending class, usually on the days when no one would be there (like the Monday before Thanksgiving). The quizzes just had to be done before the final, the timeline was entirely up to you.
Lectures are more just listening to him talk about current events. Still went for enjoyment and because he gave good reviews for exams. Quizzes from textbook w/ 3 attempts. 2 exams, lots of definition based questions. Gave extra credit, skipped 2 chapters at end. Class requires effort but is not hard. Very conservative but does not affect grading
Meh, he's alright. He allowed people to take tests if they happened to miss the test date and offered EC, which is amazing tbh. His lectures were the epitome of mid, and despite leading on that he would curve the final, he didn't because the average was a C. I'd take Jason Smith over him if he's available.
Tons of EC, responds to emails fast, light workload but heavy weighted exams (2 exams=400 points total). Class not worth going to. Helpful guides & hints for the exam. Don't need to go to the SI but look at the materials. Memorize the vocab in textbook. Prof is very caring. Some reviews just focus on feelings instead of getting GPA lol.
Prof. Haydon gets a lot of hate but that's just b/c some people don't understand he's a POLS teacher. Funny guy, cool to talk to, and he randomly gives out extra credit if you go to class. Easy work, my only problem was thinking I could wing his first exam and it costed me an A in the class. A lot of easy quiz grades (3 attempts) that help too.
Dr. Haydon is a very nice guy and gives a TON of extra credit if you go to class. I failed the midterm but still ended with an A because of how much extra credit was given and I went to his office and talked with him. It was very hard to follow his lectures because the content he talks about isn't even related to what's on the midterm and final.
Dr. Haydon is strongly opinionated & biased, but still a nice guy. The grades are almost entirely based on a midterm (109 MCQs in 1 hour) & final, along with 10ish quizzes each worth 15 pts (3 attempts). There are two easy assignments worth 5 points each, and he offered extra credit on random days in lecture. I struggled on both exams, hence the C.
his lectures are just rants and don't really cover class material. it's pretty much self paced based on the online textbook and chapter quizzes. the quizzes and other assignments are easy 100s but it's annoying bc a majority of your grade is based on the two exams. he gives a ton of extra credit though.
I thoroughly enjoyed Haydon's class, lectures were interesting and interactive. there's a free online textbook which is GREAT for studying in preparation for the exams, He is more than willing to help with your grade and will give extra credit if you show up to class and are willing to put the work in..
Dr. Haydon isn't a bad professor his lecture style just wasn't for me, but has very few assignments and you had multiple months to complete each one. The SI session were super helpful though and you could probably learn just by reading the book. Does give extra credit but its randomly in class so make sure to attend lectures for that.
Haydon does not care if you show up or do anything for his class, but if you put any amount of effort into the class he will go out of his way to help you succeed. Lots of time for assignments and extra credit given randomly in class. The snowflakes who complain about his lectures simply cant handle having a professor with conservative beliefs.
He understands most people are only taking the class as a uni requirement. He's willing to help if you ask and you do the work. He makes a personal connection with every student who talks to him. You can choose to sit and be a no one and he won't mind, or you can choose to talk during class (which honestly just feels like a stand up comedy show)
He's so funny and awesome! Attendance isnt mandatory but will randomly give extra credit in class if ur there so go.U have like the whole semester to get the online assignments done and theres not many. Only 2 tests but weighed heavy. He's only getting hate on here from people who have leftist views so if that doesnt apply to you, youd love him!
He is a great professor and will help you succeed in his class if you give effort. 70% of your grade is exams, and there is only two. People may not like him because he is not afraid to show his view on things, but the people who get mad about him doing this are also the kind of people to shout their opinion and don't like any variation. Great guy.
Tests are essentially all of your final grade. Midterm and a final are crucial to do good on. Professor Haydon is funny and discusses a lot of current day political issues. Use the TA's resources for your exams.
Overall a pretty good professor, but there are times in lecture when he fumbles. Lecture is usually more of an open discussion than teaching the material (need to read the text book), so he asks questions to the class and looks for answers. There are times when a good point is brought up against him and he just kinda brushes it off and moves on.
This class is not a blow off contrary to what he said. HWs are a free 100. However, it's annoying bc the majority of your grade is based on two difficult exams. Offers extra credit if you go to class. In lectures he just rants about current events which can be interesting but doesn't cover material until the last 15 minutes.
The SI sessions and the textbook are gold. He gives a lot of extra credit (but u have to attend his classes for that) and is willing to help u with ur grade if u show up to his office hours.
Got a B because nothing is taught in class and the reviews they give you, no matter how hard you study, will not prepare you for the tests, which are nearly 70% of your grade... there are ONLY 2 tests. Funny professor, but if you want a test that actually is on what was reviewed then DO NOT take this. Class average on tests was literally like a 65.
Personally, his opinions have never made me HATE going to a class more. Go to class for extra credit chances but I recommend doing homework in class rather than listen to his rants (which do not cover the material). 2 exams each worth 40%. About 10ish online home quizzes, each get 3 attempts. Look at study guides given by TA (a lot of test Q's).
went to put quotes from lecture and they flagged it.
Whole grade is based on two heavily weighted exams. He is hilarious and makes lectures entertaining, but be prepared to teach yourself the material for exams. Use the TA study guides/quizlets and go to SI sessions for practice questions and you will feel more prepared for exams. DO NOT sleep on the first exam, it sets up your grade in the class
Professor Haydon is the most biased professor I've encountered. Going to lectures was difficult as he does not teach much besides his opinion which is very conservative, if you do not agree I would not recommend. All the grade is based on 2 exams and his lectures are useless so you will have to be prepared to teach yourself all the course content.
Lectures are pointless, but gives out extra credit randomly to incentivize showing up everyday. I skipped too much which is the reason I got a B. Grade was entirely made up of about 10 chapter quizzes, the midterm, and the final. Minimal actual work, but if you don't study you're not gonna do well. Really helpful and caring outside of class too.
He wasn't bad. It's just hard to recover from a bad/average grade because of how little work there was. The two tests make up most of the grade. If you're not prepared to study much, don't expect an A. I put in minimal effort and received the grade I did. Lectures are all opinion based. Does randomly offer extra credit so it helps some to show up.
Took the class online so not really sure about in-person lectures. I didn't really listen to the lectures posted online, just focused on the textbook/notes. Overall very nice professor. If you do the quizzes and study the textbook/notes for the 2 exams you'll be fine. It was a light-work class. Don't underestimate the exams though.
Very honest professor.
I had more knowledgeable professors when I attended community college. Easy A but that's about it.
Lectures were fun and useful if you are interested in working on political campaigns. Something about him was creepy though. There are two papers 5 pages and 10 pages and one essay exam, he grades easily.
Not a great prof. You don't learn anything in class most of the time other than his political views. The midterm and final are the only tests given but they're easy to study for. He gives out extra credit sometimes for being in class. I did good on tests from my knowledge based on previous high school classes. Take someone else if you can.
Will give extra credit if you go to class. A little bit of a yapper in his lecture but other than that he is chill. Also his exams aren't that hard as people say (just go over and practice the chapter quizzes). Would take him again
I have no idea how this guy's ratings are so high. He does not teach anything in lecture. Taking his class is a trap. Be prepared to study the material on your own time - I made the mistake of not doing so and it cost me tremendously on my first exam. Attend his office hours, do what you gotta do to pass, but he is not a good professor.
He's a really nice guy and is very passionate about his subject. that translates to his exams. about 30% of the questions are just factual, the rest are meant to confuse you. Multiple answers could be correct depending on your opinion. I studied a lot and still performed poorly because of the phrasing of the questions. wouldn't recommend for core
hes very passionate about the subject and that translates to exams. the questions are skewed toward a certain mindset, which is fine if it wasn't SO test heavy. I had an A and performed lower on my second exam, got dropped to A C. be prepared to put time and then have nothing you studied be on the exam. would recommend if pols major
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! unless you're ok with getting a B, bc an A is impossible with him. He doesn't cover relevant topics in class and only has 2 exams the entire semester. He yaps the entire lecture and expects us to know what to study for the exam. Just don't take this professor.
Professor Haydon is a very nice and caring professor. However, lectures are pointless and might as well just teach yourself the material. The 2 exams given are long and confusing. However, if you really put in the effort to know the vocab and just overall understand the concepts, it is common sense.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. Worst professor I've had. Almost impossible to get an A because grade relies almost entirely on two exams that are very difficult. Lectures are pointless and just an excuse for him to debate people. Have to read very long textbook that he takes tiny details from for the exams. Exams are not well written at all.
If you want a taste of high school government class again, go to Haydon's lectures. Low quality discussions wrought from carefully crafted leading questions for his majority fresh(yes)men classes. Insulting to his students and the field of POLS in general. However, if you want limited coursework, take his class and just read the textbook. Next!
DON'T TAKE HIM. You will NOT get an A in this class no matter what. its impossible to study for the tests because they are not related to the textbook or slides. He talks about unrelated things during lecture and rushes the actual content we need to know. He knows that everyone fails his tests so he gives extra credit but its never enough for an A
Occasional extra credit for attending class. 2 exams make up nearly the entire grade and are long and difficult. I found his lectures to be entertaining, but they were not all that useful for passing the class. Lots of extra time must be spent to pass the exams.
I think many of the positive ratings are because people received a good grade. While I got an A also, I won't let that bias my review. His teaching is frankly not up to par with the quality of education that A&M holds itself to. There was no intellectual insight or discourse involved in his class. Might as well be a low level high school class.
Dr. Haydon's course was easy and straightforward. Everything was clear, and it was always obvious what to do. He was very responsive to emails. The exams were 100 questions long but had plenty of time. The course was flexible with quizzes and the exam, making it stress-free overall.
Read the textbook and study slides! I think reading the textbook helped me get an A. Sometimes he goes on political rants in class, but its okay. Its entertaining.
I enjoyed his lectures and found him engaging. Extra random attendance credit: don't miss class. I didn't find the review materials (Quizzes, textbook, lecture notes) helpful on the exams. When another student came to my conclusion, and asked for more study materials: he said "no, sorry". Subjects emphasized lecture are not emphasized in exams.
I'm currently enrolled in his class and find it difficult to sit through them due to the way he teaches. He doesn't teach in lecture; rather, he mentions a topic and essentially looks for someone to debate. He does this every class for almost the entire class time and only teaches a few concepts for about 5 minutes and doesn't prepare you for exams
I love Haydon as a person, but not so much as a professor. He was super witty and cared about ALL of his students. His lectures were just him talking about current politics and he barely taught anything. Besides 1 exam and a non-cumulative final, the only other thing you are graded on are some online quizzes that you take online outside of class.
I took POLS my first semester freshman year, His lectures can go extremely off-topic and often irrelevant to the topic at hand. The only grades in the class are three Exams that are 100 questions or so in 50 minutes, so if you can't handle that absolutely do not take this class. textbook is also lengthy, but it contains most of the materials.
very test heavy, almost worth the entire course grade, exams worth a total of 80%
I took Dr. Haydon for Pols 206, and though I got an A, it was not an easy A. There are only two exams and weekly Packbacks, so doing well on both exams are important. Make your own study guides from his lectures and study the week before the exam to do well. Dr. Haydon is understanding and will help you in any way he can.
Entertaining lectures and he's a great guy but you're only graded on 2 test and a few quizzes. I did well on all the quizzes but bombed the first test so that set my ceiling at a B for the rest of the semester.
Lectures move so slowly cause he makes everything an open discussion for people to express their opinions. Lecture covers almost nothing compared to the info that is on the test. 2 exams=70% of grade, 10 quizzes=30%. Class is basically asynchronous. Goes on tangents about current events if you are interested in that stuff. I stopped going to class.
Dr Haydon loves to push his views in lecture rather than teach material. Textbook comes with course and is where most of the grade comes from. Only other grades come from midterm and final which aren't bad if you use the textbook. Very rare extra credit attendance not worth unless desperate. Condescending. DO NOT TAKE AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!
Terrible teacher and person. Rarely covers material— some days, we didn't even get through one slide. Constantly talks politics and picks arguments with students, then yells when challenged. Discusses "female issues" by asking only women to respond, then interrupts and mansplains why we're wrong.
Horrible teacher. Barely covers material in class or takes way too long to cover material. Barely prepares you for exams. Highly political and will pick fights with students that do not agree with him. Very condescending when students do not agree with him and will get close to yelling at students if challenged. DO NOT TAKE IF POSSIBLE.
He weights the exams and quizzes only, so if you screw up on one of the exams, which is 36% of your grade, is gone. Furthermore, he picks fights with students and does nothing to prepare you for either exams. DO NOT TAKE!!!
It is baffling to me how someone so educated can still be a red pilled reddit troll of a professor. Class work is easy but he enjoys debating people 30 years younger than him too much. Uses Prager U videos and pushes his political agenda. Education should be as impartial as possible and it's sad when someone thinks they're above that.
So hard to even go to class when all he does is talk about his political views. Literally doesn't teach at all. Took him a few semesters ago and he put videos of migrants on the screen and laughed at their broken English. Probably the worst professor I've had.
Dr. Haydon had very few assignments in this class. His lectures were more supplemental than anything, but I found them engaging. He's not secretive about his political views, and most of your actual material for tests come from the (free) online textbook. Most assignments are in the textbook and he gives extra credit for assignments and attendance.
Prof Hayden gets a bad rap. Go to class. His lectures are usually pretty interesting. Do the reading. The textbook he used was easy to read and the tests were basically all taken from it. He gives out extra credit based on attendance, especially when the class is extra empty.
He was a disappointment to the Bush School's high regard. Still, he was an easy A. He had 3 random attendance extra credits, each 5 points for listening to his useless but hilarious conservative rage lectures. Grades were 10 easy chapter quizzes, each 15 points, and 2 exams, each 200 points. 490 points for an A. Lecture was rage on current events.
He's nice and wants to see his students succeed, but, his lectures were boring. To be fair, it's an 8 am class and I would rather be asleep. Regardless, he does ask engaging questions and is quite funny at times. He's helpful and is always available during office hours if you need him. I'd take him again.
This professor is a very sweet guy and seems very interested in what he's teaching. It's lecture heavy, he doesn't do attendence everyday but, he will do a surprise attendance (He did this four times). I've only had one exam and it was difficult. We also have an online textbook but it's super easy.
Decent prof, gets on a tangent often. Textbook is bias, and "suppose to make you think." Things on the exam are not usually discussed in class or on homework quizzes. Just frustrating, due to MOST, not all, questions that are ask on test are not partially discussed explicitly in class or hinted at. I would retake him, if this was not for a grade.
A good guy, but not a good professor. He gave us two tests worth about 30% each, and they were all on content straight from the textbook. The only reason to go to his lectures was because he would randomly give out extra credit from time to time(saved my grade), as he would pretty much only talk about current politics.
This guy is a total joke. He'll make some of the questions on the exam completely random so that you get them wrong, but not enough to completely make you fail. Then, he'll put a bunch of extra credit opportunities to make you feel like you have hope just to repeat the same crap on the final. 0/10 do not take
His lectures are nothing but political tangents and his dislike for the left. Tries to brainwash students into believing his political beliefs instead of teaching them how to come up with their own. The homework was super easy, waste of money and time. Your whole grade is made up of two 100 problem tests. Only B I ever got. And it was an 89...
Not that bad online. Attendance is not mandatory so as long as you get the 15 quizzes (3 tries) and 2 exams done you should be good. The exams did stress me out (almost dropped) because they weigh a ton but it was not as bad. If you take him just do it online.
The class is very easy, his lectures aren't very interesting but there is some extra credit, very test-heavy (60%).
