Professor Holtfrerich made online physics bearable. His lectures were interactive and used various teaching methods. He always made sure to go over the material thoroughly and provided ample time for students to ask questions. He provided several hours outside of class each week for one on one learning which he exceled in.

This professor struggled to really break down Physics and work out problems in a way feasible for students with minimal or no previous exposure to Physics. The lectures didn't correlate much with the text, and labs didn't correlate well with the lectures, or keep up with the current module, at the least. Labs require lots of proficiency with Excel.

Physics is a hard topic to learn, but he made it unbearable. Very fast paced lectures and barely allowed time to write down what you needed from slides (and it was important info that wasn't in the textbook), would do example problems in class but consistently made mistakes which left everyone confused. A TON of homework, but it helps some.

Holt is a very smart and nice man. He knows what he is talking about to a high degree of knowledge. Physics 2 is NOT an easy class by any means, but that shouldn't reflect on Holt. You can get a decent grade in this class if you approach him after hours and ask questions. Definently Do the homework and study and you will be okay.

this is your sign to turn around right now and never look back. he makes me want to drop out of school. doesn't respond to emails. puts things on the test that he never taught in class and admits it. class average always in the 40s or 50s and he never curves. if you want to save your mental health do everything in your power not to take him.

I made a rate my professor account just for this post. Hands down worst teacher I have ever had in my years as a student. I was in every single lecture and did not walk away with anything beneficial in any of them. His lectures were cryptic, the tests were on material that we hardly learned, and the class averages were around %40-%50s on tests.

I am incredibly astonished that this professor is still allowed to be teaching. His lectures are very wordy and confusing. He over complicates his explanations so when you walk out of class you are more confused than when you walk in. There is no curving or extra credit even when the class average on each test is anywhere from a 30-50. AVOID HIM!!

DO NOT TAKE. First class, he said, "it isn't about how hard you work" meaning you can work hard and still fail the class. iClicker for attendance. Averages after people have dropped sit around 60. You teach yourself everything. He uses an 11-point scale rather than curving (doesn't help). You will never feel prepared for lab. He's a nice person tho

It's no surprise that physics is super hard. Prof H is a great guy, however, he is not the best teacher in my opinion. No curves...what you get is what you get. The HW is super hard compared to in-class problems. The tests are graded heavily. 10 total questions, so missing just 1 can tank your grade. Lectures are really useless to help you learn.

He's the reason I lost my 4.0. Genuinely the worst professor I've ever had. Refused to take any responsibility when our test average was a 49%. Doesn't give any extra credit or curve exams because "he would be lying to the university about our knowledge of physics" - DIRECT QUOTE. I don't trust rate my professor reviews, but trust this man's!!

I expected this course to be difficult, but almost no amount of studying can prepare you for the tests. Tests do not typically relate to homework or what we learn in class. I studied about the same for each unit test with similar resources and made a D, A, and F. Making a good grade is not impossible, but close to it. Nice man, but bad class.

I pride myself on a high GPA, and this class almost tanked it. I dropped it before it could. He doesn't know how to lecture AT ALL and homework is nothing like the tests, even though both are insanely difficult. By the second week, I had an F from an assignment he gave us the first dat of class and didn't teach. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS.

Terrible professor. Doesn't give extra credit, drop lowest exam, or replace the lowest with the final. Makes it almost impossible as the prep materials he provides are completely different from the exam. Pretty sure we started out with a class of 200 or so and ended with around 70. Wont accept that he's the reason the exam average is failing.

Worst professor at Auburn. The fact he is still teaching and Auburn won't do anything about it represents terrible leadership. I am an A student who locked down even harder this semester never relenting and no matter what I did couldn't succeed, not only that but he never curved even with 48 averages on tests. His rating is way too high on here.

His problems on his lecture slides are nothing like the homework, and neither are like the tests. Pretends to take suggestions because class averages are consistently 50s-60s but does not curve. Gives no opportunites for any success or extra credit, does not seem to care if you succeed or not. Class test avg was a 60 and told us to do better.

upper quartile on the final exam was a 71% meaning 3/4 of the class scored below that. no curve, no extra credit. then sent out an email saying how proud he was of the grades when the class average was a 58. the AVERAGE overall grade was a 72 (C) meaning around 50% of the class failed the class with a D or below.

Quite honestly the worst professor I've had at Auburn. Tests are made up of material not shown in any lecture or homeworks. Tests are complicated and convoluted just like his lectures. Holtfrerich also refuses to scale or even think for a moment he might be at fault for a whole class' test average to be a 49% on a test. Avoid him at all costs.

Nice person, bad teacher. Lectures by reading things off of slides and doesn't explain it. Makes lots of mistakes during lectures that make it hard to follow. If you're not naturally good at physics and want to do well, you will definitely be spending lots of time with a tutor and/or the textbook.

He does not curve grades at all even if a majority of the class does poorly. 45% of your grade will come from two tests (midterm and final) so if you are a horrible test taker steer clear. Your work and attendance will not be appreciated at the end even if you are only off by a few points to get the next grade he won't be merciful.

He will not curve anything and has very little sympathy to those putting extra work in. The class is taught unfairly to other classes and his tests are nowhere near like what the lectures are.
