This guy has crazy expections for writing essays. I did well but was completely confused every time I finshed talking with him. He is one of those goo-roos that thinks he is like super smart when he is like super-not. Take him for an easy A but expect your sanity to dwindle.

This teacher is probablly the worst i have ever had. He collects things but never clearly states whether or not he wants them on paper or in the blog. Then if you get on his bad side there is no turning back. He will grade your papers very unfairly and not to mention make fun of you in class. If you are signed up for his class DROP IT immediatly!!!

I Don't think this guy realizes he is teaching an english class. I have yet to learn anything about writing. All I have heard about is computers and Linux. He makes you feel DUMB when you ask him ANYTHING. You're lucky if you actually get an answer and not just, "READ MY WEBISTE!" Very COCKY and RUDE! Honestly the worst class/teacher I've ever had.

Horton truly enjoys infantilizing his students making back handed degrading condescending comments which boggles me you would expect a professor to uplifting and interested in the intellectual growth of any student this man has no business teaching

Very Cocky! Hard to know exactly what he is expecting from you. If you can get on his good side and let him know that you really are trying your grade will reflect that. I made a B in the class but I will not take him again!

I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone unless they are an English major and required to take it. English is by far my best subject, I never struggled with it until I got in here. Don't be misguided by the fact that it is grammar and sounds somewhat easy. This class will more than likely kill your GPA, especially if you are taking other classes.

Okay, this man is the most difficult professor I have EVER worked with. He is rude and if your opinion doesn't match his, you're wrong. He grading is absolutely ridiculous also. Grades on a 5point scale. so you get a 0,20,40,60,80, or 100, no in between. The work is pointless and extremely time consuming. I would NEVER recommend this class.

He's so rude, he doesn't understand that we have lives outside of the classroom and expects every single thing to get done by not always attainable time person. He also doesn't listen very well to the feelings or needs of his students.

Overall awful professor. He never made his grading requirements clear to anyone in the class. He picks at any little thing wrong with your essays and makes you basically rewrite the entire thing to get a decent grade. He also gives homework to students every single night.

This guy has the worst idea's I've ever heard of in my life. He acts like he's your friend in class but when it comes to helping you out he never does If you ask a question he won't even answer it he just says well did you look at my blog. Day one he tells you the class is easy and you'll be able to pass with a B or an A just by completing the work on time, that's false. He's incredibly passive aggressive and expects you to be an amazing writer from the moment you step through the door. If you're having problems with citations, don't expect him to tell you what you're doing wrong.

RUN!!!!! English is my best subject but RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. The most arrogant, condescending, jerk I have EVER met. He humiliates you in class, yells at you when you ask questions, and yells at you when you do not ask questions. You cannot win in that class. Extremely unfair grading scale. Also yells when you get help from the writing center.

Rude, condescending, terrible professor. He will insult you in front of the entire class over the smallest things. His grading criteria are incredibly complicated and very unclear. He will give you a poor grade without explaining what you did wrong, so get ready for trial and error. Awful professor. Do not take him unless you have no other option.

If youre thinking about taking this class DONT! In fact, RUN away from this guy as fast as possible. He has crazy OCD issues and is the biggest jerk of all time. Incredibly hard grader will put all work in needs fixing, guy has also made some absurd comments in class. Take the other teacher if possible.

Gives an alomst unfinishable amount of homework that is due every class meeting, not thinking of the other classes we might also have. Doesnt fully explain assignments. You also have to buy or rent 12 different movies for this class. If you can avoid taking Him and can take someone else, you should definately take someone else. I do not recommend.

When you ask a question in his class, he just tells you to look on the website or he calls you out and makes you seem stupid in a sarcastic voice. Homework every night. I would never take this A hole ever again. He must nvr get laid at home

I didnt look him up before signing up for this class and regret doing so. He will not be specific when it comes to help and keep you after the final date to do more work. I would drop out before taking this class again.

The most worst, dirty flea invested teacher I ever came across. His instructions aren't clear, and if you don't understand them this she/male just gets mad at you for not understanding them. Have fun talking to this guy in person, because his breath is going to sink bad.

Confused on something because his instructions dont make a lick of sense? dont even bothering asking because hes going to be rude about it and turn it around on you. Dont take this class unless you want to be stressed out of your mind. I honestly think any good review he has is him trying to raise his ratings.

This guy was the worst. Had a friend who took him before me and warned me to switch to another class and stay away from him and I thought he was exaggerating. He was not one bit, this guy does not help you at all, just says go look at the MLA website if you need help. Would not recommend to anyone, stay as far away from this guys class as you can.

This man is by far the worst professor I have ever had. No matter what you do it's never good enough for him and he doesn't leave any actual feedback as to how you can improve, only hatefully phrased criticism about how terrible you did. He is selfish and completely useless and cannot even write correctly which is a shame since he teaches English.

Dr. H is very knowledgeable about literature. Lots of reading, online responses, & in-class discussions. Does NOT believe in numerical grades & instead enforces a Grading Contract which is a huge inconvenience. He's not a terrible professor, but be mentally prepared to do ALL of your work, no extra credit, but does give the option for revisions.

RUN! Do not take his class, this is the worst professor I have ever had. He talked down to students and makes them feel stupid, in order to feel smarter than everyone else. He does not need to teach at all.

Honestly, if you have the chance, do not take him. But if you HAVE to take him, it will be okay. These reveiws are harsh. I agree with a lot of them. His teaching strategy is completely ineffective. Professor Horton tries to get his students to all write their papers in the exact same way, and if the student does not follow his exact rules, the student gets a bad grade. He also stalks how long you spent on your paper on Google Drive, and simply the time spent can affect the student's grade.

This guy is the worst, dont take this class if you dont have to. Hell literally just tell you to go to his website and its nothing but disorganized links that lead to nothing. Office hours are useless he wont tell you how to improve, hell just ask you how to improve.

I did not find this class too difficult criteria wise. The guidelines do however make your work feel unoriginal. Dr. Horton himself can be extremely rude most of the time. He answers questions like you should've already known and he speaks to you like you're an idiot. I don't recommend taking the class purely for the sake of your mental health.

Do not take this professor if you have the choice (I didn't). He's very demeaning and talks down to you 99% of the time. He was super nice for like the first week of class, but as soon as I made a mistake on an assignment, his entire attitude shifted. Very snarky and rude in his feedback -- which is always pretty unhelpful. Honestly just a jerk.

RUN from this prof!! Nothing is good enough for this guy. He has a clear vision for what he wants, but he expects you to be able to read his mind to figure out what it is. He is extremely rude & condescending. Super harsh when it comes to grading. He also assigns a TON of work. He thinks his class is the most important thing in your life.

DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! Literally NOTHING is good enough for him. I am a BIO major and spent all my time doing his work. If you complete and assignment on time but the paragraphs arent the the exact same lengths, he will count it as "late". According to his grading contract, you will not get an A if you have 3 late assignments. DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!

Professor Horton's is a teacher that I would warn my daughter about. The way he desmans and talks down to students makes me want to never send my kids to school. His EGO is 100 times too big, but I guess there is a reason he is teaching at UNG not UGA. Hope that helps it a little.

This professor has a grading contract/rubric that he believes is the greatest thing since sliced bread. He is egotistical, and is the one of the main reasons I want to leave this college. I would never take this class again nor suggest it to my worst enemy. To contact you, he has his students install an app so he can call and FaceTime when needed.

Horrible professor, lots of busy work. He believes he's above everyone else's opinion. As someone who loves writing I can tell you right now this isn't the class for you.

This professor is extremely hard Your grade depends on if you speak out in class if you don't he will continue to say something about it to the whole class throwing hint at you. You have to show up to class. you have to take 2 pages of notes every day. You have to read articles that he says you are not going to understand you have to annotate them

This by far is the worst class i have EVER taken in my life. This professor has devoted his entire existence to making this class as pointlessly hard as possible. He is the worst person i have ever met and God himself doesnt even know why he still is allowed to teach. If you do not have the same opinions as him then he WILL fail you.

HORRIBLE!! I thought he would be better because I was taking the class online, I was wrong. He is rude and snarky when you go to him with a question. Every time I have gone to him with a question, I would end up in tears because of the way he would talk to me. He has done nothing but ruin my mental health and self confidence.

The guy was of no help. Reason being, if you ask him to help you, he will question you why you need help with no good feed back.

Tough grader. Egotistical. Impossible grading system. Does not give actual help. Is vague on what he wants and gives zero feedback.

Terrible teacher. He encourages heavily upon student/teacher contact through teams, and phone calls that do not help. He always has discussion participation grades twice a week which is unfair to some students like me who do not like talking out loud, yet he assigns long articles on why the grading system is not fair.

Do not take. Has a syllabus in the first week that you have to annotate three. Also has articles with long pages twice a week with a participation grade in which you HAVE to vocalize in class but with unfair grading standards. He is very snarky and rude. I have a B in this class but he considers it a D and wants to put that as my letter grade

The worst professor ever. Get ready to learn absolutely nothing but come up with an essay about how you learned something for your final. Is very unhelpful in all of his mandatory phone calls about assignments. Is absolutely the most frustrating to deal with. Just get out while you can!

He makes you call and text him on Google Meets outside of class to pass the class. As a dual-enrollment student (minor) and a woman, this made me extremely uncomfortable. He would talk to me for over an hour and I felt trapped in order to get an A. When I disagreed with him over subjective things he told me, "You have an attitude problem."

If you want to be a writer, don't take this class. He wants you to become a better "Consumer." I am a Christian and I don't like this guy. I wish I had reported him before I transferred to UGA. Extremely unprofessional. Just look at these reviews. Your final is about "What you learned from class." He needs proof that his own class is necessary.

in one class he asked us to give him an update on how the class was going for us. i wrote an angry letter with all of the points from these reviews. and his comment was that i need to basically try harder. like bruh

he was absolutely the worst teacher. he tells you that he literally plays devils advocate and never wants you to be right. he will correct and call you out during class. his breath stinks, he requires you to write paragraphs and in order to get a passing grade on them, you have to call him where he will trap you in a phone call for up to one hour.

Do not take this class! He is probably the worst college professor I have had. The first week of school you have to study his syllabus and annotate it through perusal. He also enjoys making the students feel bad and likes to play devil's advocate. He also gives out a lot of busy work.

He will give you a bad grade on something, bug you to call him and message him privately, and then when you finally do and ask him "how can I fix this?" he will basically say "Idk you tell me" or "Idk what do you think the problem is." He will make you feel stupid. His class is so difficult and annoying to deal with just to get a C for tardiness.

I know two people who have cried because of him. He is no help when you ask for help. Forces you to call him on teams (even the dual-enrolled female minors, who may not be comfortable with this option due to the current state of the world).

Not sure how this guy still has a job. By far the worst teacher I've ever had. Makes you call him on "Microsoft Teams" and if you call him he will not let you leave until he feels like it. Also, his breath smells awful.

This professor ruined my life. Made me cry MULTIPLE times/lacks empathy. He is unprofessional, dismissive, and makes it very clear that he doesn't care about his students' success. He acts like his class is the only one that matters. Taking his course felt less like learning and more like being punished. Avoid him if you value your mental health.

Y'all... I tried. I read the reviews on here and thought "oh, it can't be THAT bad, I'll pull through!" yeah no, absolutely not. One of the most insufferable people I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. For the love of all that is holy, please do not take this class. There are alternatives that won't leave you crashing out on the daily.
