Nice guy, Sometimes seems tired of teaching. He is easily distracted. He tries to make the class fun though. He is always pleasant and fair. Very tolerant of different personalities and cultures.
nice teacher
he is very easy, movie almost every class. he sometimes teaches but gets confusing. if u want to learn dont sign up f/or dr. hunt
He is sucks!!!one movie per class!!students would know almost everything about his personal life!!He is a joke.
doesn't emphasize on writing. a friendly, and easy class. people like him. he talks about his personal life, shows a couple of movies, teaches a little grammar
Dr. Hunt is a good teacher. Tells many stories, and trys to get kids interested in grammar. I can understand if he looks bored or iritated somtimes. For pity sake he is teaching grammar, give the guy a break. He is an easy grader, and I have learned a few things.
Dr, Hunt is a teacher that is sweet, but they way he explaines things to you, you won't understand. Sometimes he doen't know what he is saying or doing. He is a sweet dude in all, but if you are looking for an A. TAKE THE CLASS.
he was the worst teacher i have ever had,he doesn't know what he is talking about, the class was a joke,we just watched movies in the class,i didnt learn any thing!!!!!!!
really chill teacher not a lot of hw not test and EASY!!!
If you’re looking for a very chill class to pass with an A get this class. He never gives out homework and when he does you can turn it in whenever you want. He takes roll in the begining but then he stops. If you actually want to learn something in the class DONT take this class. I did not learn one thing in this class. Half the time he did not sh
His class is deadly boring and complete good-for-nothing.
I just want to say that he his such a nice professor, and makes the classes very intresting.Ask question and be intresting in the class and you can get an A.But you have to study and do homework. he likes students who are intresting in learning and he can pay more attention to you. So be smart and take him. He his very nice.I recomanded him.
Dr,Hunt, He is a great teacher nice and handsome, also cool.I love him because I learned a lot of thing.Great for Esl student like me; just do the home work.Take him.He is the best.
great guy..unfortunatly i didn't learn anything from him...
He is the worse teacher I have ever seen in my life. If he loves somebody give to he or she A but if he doesn't like that person behaviour give to her or he D. very carful don't get his class.
He is nice, but he spends a lot of time talking about his life or something else......When he really focus on the class , he is a good teacher!
i love his teaching, his great teacher Im really tks for his help
great.lovely teacher.i really miss him, thanks for his help,
I'm not sure if he still teaching, but i was in his english lab, he was alright.
GOOD TEACHER BUT ALWAYS HAD TO LEAVE SOMEWHERE...
He is very helpful. He is willing to help you in anything you need.
hes funny, down to earth, and pretty much lets you do your own thing in class. wont come and check up on you, which i like. treats you like an adult and not as a child. lab was only fun when he was there :)
easy grader, ask a lot of questions and show interest and he'll like you
Matt is a great teacher. He is a very down to earth professor who really enjoys his students who actually want to learn. If you're there and slacking off, expect to get a bad grade. Geesh, all you kids think you can just get an A handed to you on a silver platter. Work for your grades!
I took both 1a and 1b with matt. He makes the class a lot more enjoyable with mandatory group discussions and debates. I feel like I became a better writer because of him. I liked him a lot also because I see a purpose for his lectures and papers. Longest paper I wrote was like 6 pages. Not bad at all. Plus you don't have to read anything!!!
Easy teacher, but knows his stuff.
Great teacher, one of the best at Saddleback. He is not the easiest grader for the honors class but you are able to rewrite your papers one time to try and improve your grade. Do not walk all over him at end of semester.
This was supposed to be an honors class, but we ended going over what we learned in elementary and middle school. The hardest thing (which was easy) we ever did was write a 5 paragraph analysis paper on a passage from a book. If want to learn don't take this class. If want an easy A then go right ahead
Don't take his class. He said he can give us a chance to rewrite essay. But he only keeps the original grade of each one on the BB. He said he can try his best to help you out, but he also suggested some students to drop from his class. Especially for the Asians, he is so casual and discriminates against them. If you come from Asia, keep him away!
Professor Hunt is a great teacher. He is very kind and generous and gives you extra time to finish late work for full credit. DO NOT take advantage of his grace periods, just because he lets you turn in late work doesn't mean you should rely on that. He has taught me well and it was a pleasure to have him as a teacher.
I'm currently in his summer class and I have to say-he is a really good teacher. He takes the time to explain concepts that people are embarrassed to ask about. He also is very easy going with grace periods- Doing well so far but I encourage this teacher! Put a little effort and you should get an A
I took both English 1A and 1B Honors with Hunt. He's an amazing, helpful English professor and teaches writing strategies very well. The books for the class are really interesting too. Not that hard of a grader, but keep in mind this is still a college English class. Flexible on due dates and understanding of personal situations. Overall great guy.
Hunt seems easy the first couple of months but then he gets pretty hard, requires a lot of essays especially in class essays. Be prepared to write a ton!
not a good teacher at all. I read the comments like you and thought he was going to be easy and fun. NOT the case. Really hard grader, extremely boring and not a good teacher at all. DO NOT TAKE!
Professor Hunt is by far my favorite professor I have had the chance to have since I started attending Saddleback College. Hunt is very understanding if you miss an assignment, or have to miss class. The class will be entertaining if you have a class that participates! I highly recommend him.
This class is such an easy A. Also this professor is super nice and awesome.
Prof. Hunt is very helpful and gives a lot of got advice. Pay attention, make your homework, and prepare yourself for the tests. The books are very interesting. Examples are connected to the books or real life situation. I always would take him again as a teacher.
I am so glad it took this class. I learned a lot and did really good. He is the best English teacher I have ever had. I would definitely recommend him.
Best Teamchef I,ve ever had. Take him! Grat for ESL-Students if you want to learn. Thank a lot!
He is a very easy teacher and the class goes by really fast. You get a couple 1 page essays and you have a couple reading assignments. I strongly recommend taking his class. He is very helpful and always there to answer any questions!
I love Professor Hunt! He was the easiest and best teacher i had. He made me love English and hes super easy. Lectures are short so be ready to always leave class early than expected. Just show up do the assignments and pass. Easy A. He is a very funny guy and will always let you joke around with him. You will mot regret taking him
Love him
I loved Professor Hunt. He was very understanding and compassionate. He cared about his students and what was going on in their lives. I enjoyed his lectures, and learned a lot about our environment which actually went along with the biology class I was taking that semester as well. Respect goes a long way. I would take him again for 1A.
I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Dr. Hunt. He is an amazing professor, absolutely hilarious, doesn't give test, does give a lot of homework but doesn't collect it. Definitely take him! I will take him again for Eng 1A
MY FAVORITE PROFFESOR EVER! He makes learning fun. his lectures are crystal clear and easy to follow. just do the homework and you will do great! Gives great feedback and is there to help if you need it. One time I was really hungry and he gave me half of his brownie! lol
Short, funny lectures. Tough, but fair grader. Definitely recommend him. Books used in this class were interesting. Understanding. Learned a lot from him. You will need to work hard to receive an A. Participate in class!!
Took this class as a freshman my first semester. (NOTE: took AP Lit in high school) I thought it was going to be harder than high school and I was SO WRONG. Super easy, I feel I didn't learn much though. To be honest, I was disappointed in his lack of interest. Skip class, no problem. Overall, easy class, super nice (easy-going) guy! :)
he was such a good guy with a great sense of humor. his directions were specific, but he wasn't too strict. he was by far my favorite professor, as he understands life happens and if you talk, he listens. 10/10 would take again. thanks Dr. Hunt!
He was the best teacher I had. Love him.
Hardly ever had class. Pretty cool guy just really big on grammar and punctuation. I would recommend him if you have a busy schedule.
Pretty easy class. I think there was only 4 papers. Its not rare for Hunt to cancel class. He is a funny and nice guy. I would recommend this class.
Dr. Hunt puts a lot of thought into his lectures, and he really wants his students to learn. If you have any questions he is glad to help. He is really nice, but don't show up to class late. If you are really late you might as well not show up, or better yet go to a later class. His only pet peeve is cell phones going off in class. Showupyoullpass.
Good teacher. Would reccomend to anyone. Understands that students have other classes besides his.
Great professor. He really cares that you put the effort in. Show him that you care, and you'll do just fine.
Is very laid back and does not care if you turn things in late. Tough grader, I would have two grammatical errors and would receive a B. Wish he taught more and told you what he wanted from the papers.
Dr. Hunt is spectacular! I enjoyed every minute of this class! Not only does he have a great sense of humor, but he genuinely cares about his students! All the reading will set students up for lifelong success! He is a tough grader but makes it abundantly clear what's expected and is always willing to answer questions/help you out! He's the best!!!
This class was an eye-opener for me and it was mainly due to the professor. He made Psychology interesting and relevant. He was definitely passionate about the subject and I really didn't want this 8 week course to end. The information has been more helpful in understanding why people behave the way they do. Great instructor.
Professor Hunt has a wonderful sense of humor, although he can get serious with his remarks, I just never took it personal. Very simple and easy to understand what he is teaching. I liked that he was flexible and made sure that his students could have a chance to regrade or redo assignments that didn't have a good grade. I felt that he cared.
Dr. Hunt exhibits quality teaching methods that not only engage his students, but profoundly inspire them. While a multitude of his lectures were brief, they effectively conveyed what he was trying to say, and resultantly aided in improving my writing skills drastically. He's hilarious in a subtle manner, and his essay prompts are straightforward.
This class was mediocre. It isn't necessarily hard, but he is a tough grader. You get out of class almost an hour early every time. The last couple weeks of school he doesn't take role anymore and the final three weeks of school you don't have to come since you are just working on your final project. Wrote 5 papers (i think).
Straightforward with his criteria. Don't be lazy and you will be fine. He's so funny and I always looked forward to his class. Always get out an hour early. Wrote about 5 essays(not hard) and 1 final. I wish I could take him again.
Pretty good first college english professor! Super nice and hilarious. He tends to let lecture out early and he gave us a month off from class. You do have a fair amount of papers and he assigned a couple books, but overall he was a very good teacher and always helped if you needed it.
Great class to start out college english with. A fair amount of essays/ writing assignments were assigned but nothing unmanageable. He tells you what he wants and doesn't want in them. Lots of reading but most can be done in the spare time he gives you in class considering he lets you out an hour early almost every class. Would definitely recommend
I wouldn't take him again. He got political at times and I turned in a paper to him and said I didn't turn it in. So, I had to give him another paper or essay and then get credit. Grading papers isn't good either. His lectures don't make sense or help at all. He will put you to sleep really easily.
When it comes to writing essays, he is extremely particular in what he wants. Too many little mistakes and your paper is already a C+. The class grade is essay based so if you fail one your grade is already down the drain. The final paper itself is hard to understand and isn't even worth the stress. Befriend the smart kids in this class.
Professor Hunt - funny, upbeat, dad. Got political a couple of times as others have mentioned but it was mostly harmless banter. Tough grader, if you like to write freely and let your mind get creative you may struggle taking him. He hates any sort of fantasy writing. However, I did average on nearly all of my papers and ended up with a B.
He is a good teacher. I would take him again.
Had a small essay due every week. Be ready to write a lot if you take his class. Got solid B's on all of his essays but bc I got an A of the final paper (and 8 page paper btw) and on the in-class essay he gave me an A in the class. Both papers were based on class reading so be ready to read too. Over all is an ok guy. I personally didn't like him.
He is a tough Grader, its not an easy class, but I took him for summer and it wasnt that bad for a summer class. Yeah his class did give a lot of stress too but its apart of English and Im not that great at English.
very cut and dry, but also very helpful and informational lectures. Dont expect to have a great time in the lecture, but if you attend and apply the notes posted online, your paper will be easy.
Professor Hunt is a very knowledgeable professor and taught on very interesting topics. You write about 7 essays and that is all you are graded on. If you dont follow his grading criteria carefully, you wont pass the class. Make sure you check for grammar mistakes and read over your paper before turning it in. Overall good
Very easy class. We are given a grace period for every assignment. The rule-bricks are lacking detail
Is a really laid back and funny guy you genuinely feel good learning from. VERY sarcastic. Lectures are interesting and actually make you think. Grades are fair and as long as you and turn in your essays on time, there will be no issues.
Hunt was an overall easy teacher. His grading policy is confusing because his whole class is only out of 30 points total. He gives you chances to make paper corrections and bring up your grade, however he is confusing on what he specifically wants in your paper. Second half of the semester he didn't take attendance.
Do you want to be enrolled in a composition class where you only learn about citing sources? Do you want to write a final paper in a format that was not discussed in class? Do you want your paper to be completely ignored after spending hours on it because you did not place a running head? Enroll! Just don't expect him to be in class the last month.
Professor Hunt one of the best English teachers that I have ever had. He really helped me improve in my writing and I learned a lot from this last semester with him. If you go into this class with a good mind-set and listen to his lectures than the class will be easy. He tells you what he is looking for in his lectures so make sure to take notes :)
All you do is write papers in this class. I thought that would not be a problem for me considering I don't mind writing essays, but hunt is an extremely tough grader. He wants his essays a very specific way and does not give good explanations on how to do it and will then give you a C. He is a very tough professor but he is very funny and nice
While Professor Hunt was a nice guy, he graded my papers very hard with no rubric on how he did so. That was my major problem with his class. His class had interesting topics and he let us out early every time. Make friends with him early on because he was more lenient on grading once I asked him questions. Super accessible outside class.
Super great guy. If you dont pay attention and follow directions it will be hard to get a good grade on most assignments. Almost always entertained. Very helpful. Second most life
Matt is a great professor and truly cares about the improvement of his students. He is very understanding with deadlines and always wants your best work. I strongly recommend Matt for Eng1A or Eng1B as he is a fantastic professor and one of the best English teachers at this school.
Proffesor Hunt is a funny guy but you will never know how he grades. He seems to just write a random grade on your paper and you end up working your butt of for a B
English is not hard, but he is so excited to be a college teacher. He tries to laugh on students, instead of teaching. He is not American, but he's racist. If you are not a blond girl who respond to his rude laugh, you will get D for sure.
He can be very condescending! Avoid at all cost!!
Honestly, this is the teacher you're looking for. Take this class, you won't regret it. Half of the classes are non-mandatory, and the classes that are mandatory, you get out an hour early. You also have a grace period for all your assignments, so you can turn them in late for full credit. He cares for your success and I would take him again.
Prof Hunt is really great and he's very understanding. Gives really amazing advice for papers and has a grace grading period. If you aren't ready to turn in a paper he will give you more time. Cares a lot, you have to show up and participate and your grade is based off only a few papers so do them all!
He's a very nice guy if you pay attention in class. Otherwise, he can be condescending. But he did make me laugh a lot. Dismisses class early everyday, usually halfway into class. Assignments are a piece of cake, including the final and midterm assignments. I got an A on both and I'm a math major. The class is a joke, but I would recommend it.
Many Papers. Very unorganized likes to bring personal life too much in class Makes fun of women a lot very disrespectful. Brings Politics during class. Unnecessary comments or remarks. Avoid at all cost. Very picky when making minor errors I set up an appointment many times explained nothing was wrong with my papers still received half credit
I took English 1A over this last semester, and it was completely online due to Covid. The class was super easy, there was only about 1 writing assignment every 2 weeks. Lots of extensions were given so the prof could give adequate feedback on each assignment. Easy A as far as Im concerned
Prof Hunt only assigned around 8 papers throughout the semester. With that being said, really pay attention to the specifics of the assignment, as each paper is only worth 2-5 points. The discussions aren't worth any points but are there for you to discuss topics with your peers. The books for the class are required, buy them off Amazon.
I despise this guy because he evaluates really harshly and will absolutely trash your paper and grade even if you worked extremely hard on it. Each time he assigns another paper, I become extremely stressed because you never know what grade you will receive; it may make or break your grade.
We only had 8 papers throughout (Spring) semester, but you have to pay attention to all the details he discuss in class to have the grade that you want for your paper. He cares for the success of his students and is approachable outside of class. Will take again if I need to.
odd man. He was very picky on the essays. The in-class lectures were random and a waste of time. For example, One day he showed us a video of a Russian reenactment of a poem. Several essays during the semester offered good topics.
If you are a part of the LGBTQ+ community, run away from this teacher! He likes accommodating his rude, disrespectful opinions and comments in his lectures. He gets mad at his students for not doing an assignment he never posted OR talked about once. Talks about anything but the course in two hours. Choose someone else for your English class!
Professor Hunt appreciates when work is done on time and correctly, but is a very harsh grader with inappropriate humor and outdated concepts. The books we used as references on papers are boring and the material is practically useless. I expected more from an English class.
There were only a few papers, so it was important that I did well on each one. I will say that sometimes he didn't explain things very clearly, but I would just ask more about it after class or in an email. Sometimes he will say stuff that reminds you he is old, but he does understand the importance and value of diversity. I thought he was nice!
I enjoyed Professor Hunt's class. I admire the spontaneity in his course. He's funny, yes his jokes are a bit outdated but he genuinely means no harm, and is clearly respectful of everyone. I wrote a paper about my Queer identity and I wasn't worried about his reaction. You just need to be patient.
I like Professor Hunt. He doesn't assign a lot of work and I never have to worry about my grade, and he allows rewrites so even papers aren't bad at all. I've missed quite a few classes and still have an A. He's pretty laid back and kind of funny
Waste of time. His lectures made no sense and were irrelevant. He can be funny, but that doesn't make up for the bad teaching and the harsh grading. You'll be better off with a different professor.
Super harsh/picky grader. The course work was repetitive and felt like a constant chore, but relatively easy
I have mixed feelings about this professor. He does give clear directions and gives good feeback after he grades papers, but personally I thought he was a harsh grader and almost too stern with what he has to say. The quizzes were easy and short which is good.
Professor Hunt is extremely strict about formatting—any small error can destroy your grade. Tons of reading and writing with little feedback. If you're not already advanced in English and MLA style, this class will crush you. Harsh grading and very little support.
Dr. Hunt is extremely intelligent but takes formatting more seriously than content. Even tiny MLA mistakes will hurt your grade. Papers are frequent, feedback is minimal, and expectations are sky-high. If you're not already skilled in academic writing, this class will be a grind. Would not take again.
I took his English class online, and I really appreciated how straightforward his lecture videos were. He can be a tough grader, but as long as you follow the instructions he gives in the videos and modules, you'll be fine. Overall, the class was well-organized and clear, which made learning online much easier.
Generally, a really chill professor, I understand the ~3.5 rating since he doesn't do much with his lectures. It's a bit of a piss easy class where he rambles for maybe an hour max, and you do a small assignment the following week. He's very laid back! I would recommend this class to anyone who wants an easy class and good feedback!
