Great teacher! He knows how to make it interesting and he gives you breaks so that you can manage to keep paying attention. He also includes really funny pictures and stories throughout the lecture to keep it interesting. Best biology teacher i have ever had, highly recommend him!

Absolute favorite teacher at Auburn!!! I almost switched my major to Bio because of him. His lectures are very easy to follow along and all of his test questions come from the lectures, so theres no need to buy a book. There are clicker questions for attendance in class but if you skip here and there, it shouldn't hurt you. 10/10 I'd recommend.

I was dreading Bio but Mr. Kearly quickly made it my favorite class of the semester. Even in a large lecture class he really put in the effort to learn names. He made the class so enjoyable. The material was hard at times but he explained things very well and as long as you put in the effort you can make an A. I would definitely take him again.

Kearly was fantastic. Made an A on almost every test. He really helps you learn the material and keeps the class interesting. We took a 5 minute break in the middle of class everyday. His tests are pretty easy and he holds review sessions for tests the day before. Easiest bio teacher

I hate memorizing stuff and I hate science classes, but I took this class because I heard this teacher was the best. They were right, it was enjoyable and not too hard. You still need to study, but you don't stress out about it. And he's super available! Also make sure you study those random disorders he mentions in class.

Kearley is the best biology teacher there is! I got a C in my last biology class but came out with an A in his class! All you have to do is go to class take notes and study only his notes not the book and you'll make an A! He will work around your schedule if you need to meet with him. Matt is genuinely a great guy. He makes it a priority to learn each of his (250+) students' names, and he somehow makes a lecture auditorium feel like an intimate small classroom. He knows his stuff, and is very easy to talk to. He's also very engaging, so leave your shyness out the door! He will do everything he can to help you pass his class.

He has been one of the few professors I have had that has been not only passionate about his job but also about the students. Although the class can be hard without studying, he is available in his office both during and outside of his office hours so that he can help. He does have small in-class quizzes almost every day based on the lectures.

LOVE prof kearly!! I had him last semester and made sure to take him for bio lab again. There's a worksheet that's 8 questions and a 4 question quiz each week that are both easy and straightforward. There's only 2 or 3 test that are about 10 questions that come right from his slides. If you have to take bio I HIGHLY suggest taking him!!

If you try and go to class and take detailed notes from the beginning of the semester you will get an A. There is like 15 points of extra credit a semester which really helps especially if you get a bad test score or miss points on the quizzes.

He is an amazing professor. Rounds grades for your benefit and gives points back on tests for questions most people did not get. He also gives so much easy extra credit to help boost your grade if you're struggling or even if you just want some extra points. The lecture classes are easy to follow and are entertaining.The labs are a bit harder but if you read beforehand and complete the lab worksheets you should be fine. You do have "quizzes" in class so you do kind of need to show up, but they are 1 or 2 question quizzes per class and you learn what you are quizzed on that day during class. He is a very understanding person and you will not regret taking him.

I was concerned going into this class because I was bad at bio in HS. Kearley was a great professor; very easygoing and lectures are easy to understand. Tests are very straightforward and not hard if you go to class and put in some effort. Attendance isn't graded but you have to go if you want to understand the content and get a good grade.

A good professor would recommend for anybody to take again, one lab every week very easy.

Lab wasn't taught by Kearley but by a TA, attendance isn't mandatory but there are quizzes and in-lab assignments that are due for every lab so if you don't go your grade will suffer! Only 3 tests the whole semester and they're pretty straightforward, not a bad class at all (especially since its mandatory !!)

THE BEST EVER! I was nervous because I'm not a STEM girl, but his lectures are so engaging and easy to understand. His exams def need to be studied for, but not bad if you prepare. He's the kindest soul and really cares about his students. Attendance is graded and his exams are solely based on lectures, but I didn't mind because it was enjoyable.

I looked forward to his class everytime. He loves his students and is one of the most known professors around campus. He would drop anything for his students and is the coolest. His tests are tough but you just need to go to class and take really good notes. GO TO OFFICE HOURS

Rounds grades at the end too! (For Freshmen reading this, he won't actually teach your lab, Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) will, but he oversees them all. 10/10!

His tests are the only difficult thing, but there are tutoring and SI sessions he informs everyone about. He wants his students to succeed and you can tell that with his attitude in class. You do have to be in class because he does not post the notes online for you to review, and he asks Tophat questions during class for credit. His tests are not too bad if you study the objectives he posts. Overall loved him!!

I LOVE MR. KEARLEY. He makes a point to help everyone and learn names, even if it means meeting after office hours. There are 3 tests, a cumulative exam, and TopHat questions during class for credit (there are also a ton of extra credit options). He doesn't post lectures online but always gives you dark chocolate after a test. TAKE HIM!

I can't think of a single negative thing to say about this professor. You won't regret taking his class because he is incredibly caring and genuinely wants to see you succeed. He's the best professor I've had at Auburn so far! He sets clear expectations and ensures you know exactly what you need to study for the tests, no surprises. He's awesome!

Such an amazing professor and genuinely seemed to care about all his students and how they did in his class. His lectures were never boring because he is so hilarious and just talks in a way that makes u want to listen. There were so many ways to get your grade up and it was easy to do well in his class cause he's amazing. 5/5

I just want Matthew Kearley to have everything good in this world. He is an incredible teacher and person. He memorized all 280 of our names and says them each time we turn in a test. He's personable and wants you to understand the information and receive a good grade. Study the notes & study guide and you'll be fine. He's the best.

if you have to take a bio at au, take him!! he cares so much about his students and wants everyone to do good. he's my favorite teacher I've had thus far! I wish I could take him again. test aren't hard and he's always willing to help, just gotta show up to class

FAVORITE TEACHER EVER. Attempts to know all his students (over 300 per semester). Come to his review sessions, write all in class notes down, & really study diagrams. Cannot stress enough how kind & how good a teacher this man is.

Prof Kearley has been my favorite teacher this semester! He does a great job of teaching and making sure you understand the topics. Super funny and genuinely nice guy, take him if you can!!!!

One of the best teachers I have ever had. He is always willing to help and will stay on campus to talk to you if you need help understanding something. His lectures are very straightforward and engaging. He has no outside class work besides studying for tests.

Matt is very caring and nice. if you struggle with bio like I did go to his office and he will do everything he can to help you understand and pass. He actually made me like bio even though I suck at it.

Prof. Kearley is the best! I definitely didn't receive the best grade, but I gained a lot from taking his class. He is excited and involved with the material and makes a genuine effort to connect with every student, even though it is a 200 person class.

I have always hated biology, but Kearly is one of the most genuine, nicest dudes out there. Made me not dread the class, and actually do well in it! He offers a ton of bonus, and clearly wants his students to succeed. He is passionate and just a great guy. Definitely take this course if you're needing a bio credit.

Mr. Kearley is one of the best professors I have ever had. He truly cares about his students, has multiple lectures of 100+ and makes an effort to know everyone's names. He gives A LOT of bonus and extra credit. You have to go to class to get the information and get participation points/extra credit but he makes it interesting and fun. Take him!!

Greatest teacher I have ever had!

Great teacher. He prepares you for the tests and gives you lots of extra credit. Attendance isn't taken, but he gives around 2-3 tophat questions per class that you can only do if you're in class.

Kearley teaches 100+ size classes, yet he still remembers all of our names. Have to attend class for the notes, but that is all he tests on. Write down all the info from the slides and the fun facts he says in class, and you will get an A+. He genuinely cares about students, offering endless extra credit and even OH on weekends, if needed.

He is an awesome guy! Attendance is taken through TopHat. He gives extra credit. Textbook is recommended but I never opened mine. His lectures are easy-going but doesn't provide the PowerPoints. Take his class! He will make biology seem like a cake walk!

He is one of my favorite professors! Such a funny, caring guy who genuinely wants the best for his students! His lectures sometimes have a lot of material, but they are easy to follow if you pay attention. Attendance is not mandatory, but there is a lot of in-class TopHat quizzes and bonus opportunities, so definitely go to class if you can.

Love Matt! He actually cares about his students and how you do and offers a study session for everyone before every test. If you go to class you get the bonus from top hat questions that boost your grade a good bit. Also is willing to work around your schedule if you need to go to office hours!

Professor Kearley is 1000% the best professor I have ever had. Not only was he an amazing teacher who made learning the material fun, but he also genuinely cared for his students. He always said, "if you don't give up on this class, I won't give up on you," and he really meant it. He was always there to help!

Probably one the most caring teachers I've ever had. He makes class interesting every day and makes it worth showing up for. The class is not very hard and he is a great teacher. Super kind, caring, and gets to know all of his students. lectures MATTER and he takes attendance through top hat - tests can get tough but he gives a ton of extra credit and always wants to help- definitely my teacher of choice for another biology class

LOVE him! I had him for a lab and he was amazing!!! The labs were super easy, attendance was mandatory unless you have an excuse. He's super chill and funny!!

STEM classes have always been intimidating to me but this was by far my favorite class of the semester, and as long as you go to class and study for the tests, you will do well. THE BEST
