He is a GREAT professor, granted you do need to study for the tests, but he really does now what he is teaching. DEF recommend him for stats teacher.
He is a good Teacher. He is a fair grader. His lectures are very clear. You will not have a lot of homework. His tests are hard. You need to practice a lot to pass them. Remember: practice, practice and practice!!! Extra credit would be very helpful for students!
He was an okay professor. Not a lot of homework but exams were very hard and different from homework questions.. He is disorganized. He does not post any grades on blacboard and you never know where u r until w posts final grades.. I dont really recommend him..
Great teacher, not a lot of homework. Tests were straightforward and would recommend that you take any class that you can with him. Lectures were very clear, and it was clear what material would be on the tests.
Best math teacher I've had. He is very clear and gives good examples. He is also approachable and helpful. I recommend any class with him.
He is a great teacher. Very friendly. Just show up to class (he gives easy points for attendance), do the hw assignments(not a lot given), study the worksheet given before each exam and you will get an A!
Best math teacher I've had. He was quick and responsive to any questions you had and put all of his presentations online. Few online homework assignments, and most quizzes were either open notes or very easy so long as you studied. Highly reccommend!
What a great Teacher! He really cares about the students! He tries to pass everyone. But you need to study hard: 4tests,5 quizzes,Excel assignment, homework, and attendance. No open books,no open notes on tests. But very clear lectures, very helpful, very friendly. He answers on all emails very quickly and gives extra credits. He is the best StatTeacher
I took professor Konicki's class back in spring and I can honestly say it was the only time in my life I've ever understood & enjoyed math! He explains topics in depth and makes the class interesting! I wish I could of had him this semester for my 152 class but unfortunately that wasn't an option. Deffinetly take his classes!!! (& he is adorable:)
He is very easy, first ever math class to pass. He cares a lot about his students and doesn't give you a final. He also give some open note test, and likes to give you points on attendance. Great professor! Highly recommended
I absolutely LOVE this professor. He actually knows how to teach math! Go to class, do the work and study! It's not the easiest class, but it's doable as long as you put in the time. Also he's quite handsome and his smile is to die for. I had no issue paying attention during his lectures!
Great prof! I'm so glad I took him for stats! He ended up curving our last test since people failed miserably (I didn't need the curve but still got a higher grade so not complaining). He is helpful too when you ask and he is available in his office/tutor center. Easy to talk to and super cute! Grade is based on HW, attendance, reviews, exams
Best math instructor I have ever had. Do the work and STUDY! I've gotten over 100s on both tests so far because I listened to him and did the work. Very nice man and easy to approach. He's so cute... I have quite the crush on him. Certainly made me to not want to miss class! Pick him if you need Stats!
Great Professor and always willing to help. Print his power points out for guidance. He is such a nice guy and laughs at our jokes.
One of the best professors you will ever encounter in the NoVA area, he takes time to explain thoroughly the material each class. Math is a very hard subject for me to do well in but he made it so clear and was so helpful, I ended up passing the course with a C+. 3 tests that are not hard and very few homeworks. Taking him again for Stats 241.
Read carefully-HIGHLY recommend this guy. If you're a student that doesn't do well in Math/Stat, I guarantee this guy is your hope. For the first time, I'm glad to have had a professor who teaches so clear and understandable. Every time I leave his class, I gained something; Take this from me, who was never good at math but passed with this guy.
Professor Konicki is a friendly man who likes to see his students pass, but he will also take into account that you're an adult now, and you need to show up and do your job like one. He's helpful to any question and knows how to answer you if you do end up needing to raise your hand. He's a great math teacher to begin with!
FANTASTIC TEACHER! He is very clear, helpful, and funny! His grading scale is done in a way where you CAN pass as long as you show up, complete homework and study his lecture slides. I enjoyed his class and I do not enjoy math. Highly recommend!
Great teacher!!!
Good Prof.
Give your 100% or you will fail. I studied like crazy and got a C. You put in your part and he will also try to help you pass. DO NOT MISS ANY CLASS!
HATED math, always struggled with it but i passed this class with a C. Great professor and really cute.
Has an attitude that he hates his job, so classes are dull. But he knows what he's teaching and is passable.
Basically if you don't show up to class it won't make sense. Goes through chapters pretty fast. He doesn't use the textbook but does uploads his lectures. If you need loads of practice and time for math, he isn't the professor for you.
Professor Konicki teaches from his own personal power-points that remove a lot of the filler that accompanies the book. He also provides a pre-test instead of a study guide so students can have a better idea of what will be on the tests. All in all, I wish all my math classes had been as direct as Professor Konicki. Definitely suggest taking him.
He is as any professor nothing amazing yet he's okay. Math was never my subject and I barely studied just aced the homework and you'll be fine. When you need help he is more then happy to answer your questions and he does go threw lectures fast. All over he was ALRIGHT.
Professor Konicki is an excellent math teacher. He's always willing to help students if they have any questions on the homework he assigns along with the chapters we learn.
Good prof. Take him.
Amazing professor who knows what he's talking about
Super amazing, he's hilarious and is super clear with his lectures. The test are super easy as long as you pay attention and do the homework online. all the test are multiple choice so even if you don't know anything you have a shot at a lucky guess. there are only 4 test, the hardest one is "logic" if you don't study for it.
He's not bad nor amazing. He explains materials and clears the unclear. Homework are easy but tests are way different from what you learned. But if you get A's on homework and pass 1 or 2 tests, you will have C or B.
Definitely the best math Professor I've ever had. He uses his iPad during lecture and uploads the notes on dropbox. You will have to do the homework, you will need to dedicate your time and effort but the practice will help on the tests. Lastly he's very approachable and will actually have normal conversations with students and interact with them
He explain well, but his exams are tough. If you got good grades in his exams expect an easy A.
. He teaches with no enthusiasm. Gets very petty and he is sometimes very unhelpful for no good reason. his grading criteria is straight forward, but in general you could tell his heart isn't in what he does, but he is a nice guy and he does answer questions. He is fair, that's all I have to say.
Expects a lot from students in terms of studying. He is really good at explaining things and is willing to answer any question. I plan to take 174 with him in the fall. His tests are tough but he uploads pdfs of all his lectures so you can read them later.
I've taken stat before and didn't understand anything. He teaches as if he actually wants you to understand. But his tests are tough. He does give review tests and they are similar to the actual test. There is NO extra credit and attendance counts, but that helps your grade. Overall one of the best teachers I've had at nova.
He gives 4 tests that worth 15% each and 30% homework. He is a really tough grader. He did two grading mistakes on two of my tests then he gave back points when I noticed it myself. Overall, He is one of the best in Clac
By far the best Math professor I've ever had. All online homework (he drops the lowest grade) and four multiple choice tests. He explains all the material clearly and gives lots of examples and allows time in class for students to practice and make sure they understand. Use the reviews he gives you for the tests and you'll be good to go!
Very clear! Easy to work with. All you have to do it try...
He is really nice professor. His tests are based on study guide. You will pass his tests if you study his lecture and study guide. He is the last hope for whoever does not like math.
He is an amazing professor. His tests are based on his lectures and study guides. He posts all his lectures online. He gives review papers for each of his tests. His lectures are really clear and always make sure students understand. Math 174 is hard, but he is your last and only hope to pass this class with good grade.
He explains very well and grades fairly, but he's almost always late to class and takes two weeks to grade tests. Test questions are easier than homework questions and the ones he solves in class, so it's not hard to ace the exams if you understand his lectures. All in all, a great professor.
He is a very professional professor he ensures you understand the material and answers any questions you may have. You are guaranteed to pass the class as long as you try and attend class. As the comment below stated very nerdy good looking. Attractive guy.
Hi's a great prof, you understand the material and answers any questions you may have.
Best. Go for him.
Took him for 5-week summer class made the class super easy. He understands students and actually cares for them. He made jokes every now and then as well making the 4 hour long class bearable. He clarifies anything you need and gives an lecture that is somewhat understandable. Overall he is great!
The class was too easy and didn't finish all of the material. I felt like it was more of a high school course then college level. Didn't really learn much. I don't suggest him unless you want an easy 'A/ No can do.
Very caring professor. Goes through the material VERY slowly. Posts notes online. Gives review problems fairly similar to test problems. Tests were multiple choice with many options. If you understand classwork and most of homework, you should be good for tests. Not too difficult if you want something more challenging but he does cover everything.
Solid choice to take him over the summer as he knows the subject can be difficult and makes it pretty easy, but too easy. His sense of humor from time to time also helps and he cares about his students. You still have to know the subject obviously though but it was always a fun class.
He is a great professor. I learnt a lot in his class. I was looking for his class for calc 2 but he was unavailable. Looking forward to take more classes with him. TAKE HIM.
TAKE HIM.
I wish I could take him again.
He posts all of the lecture powerpoints online ahead of time and he goes through the content pretty slowly. If you look over the slides ahead of time, come to class, do the HW and take good notes, you should get an A. He has four open book tests and he lets you print his powerpoints to bring to the test too.
Online class was tough; material was solely learned from reading the textbook. No recorded lectures or powerpoints. Despite this, he was kind and made efforts to help. He went against superiors to change deadlines for hw. Replies to emails and discussion board were fairly quick. Exams were fair and formula sheets allowed. Quizzes were open book.
Professor Konicki is professional, patient, has a sense of humor, and is able to explain concepts in a variety of ways. He teaches off of a PowerPoint which he makes available online. He recommends that students print it out and take notes on it. His exams closely follow his lectures. I would definitely take his classes in the future.
Greatest math professor I ever took in NOVA. His explanations and teachings are simple and understandable. He goes slowly and gives us time to actually learn and process it in our heads. Study guide resembles the test and I feel happy when I leave his class knowing I won't have to go on Youtube to understand the topic later.
Really easy math teacher! He goes through everything in class very well. Homework is on Mymathlab and all tests are short, multiple choice.
Prof K is very approachable. He has very slow lectures that allow time for everyone to get it. The hw over-prepares you for the tests because they are more difficult. Study guides are good representation of the test. This class is hard, tests 60%, but if you study hard you will get the grade you deserve. At the end of the semester he smiles more!
His lectures are slow. 3 tests in total, each worth 20%. Lectures are based on examples. He may look unapproachable but he's pretty nice. Extra credits are built in the exam itself. About 15 all multiple choice but it's from A to J for each so you can't work backwards. If you have decided to take him, please be nice to him!!!
You can see that he cares about students and wants them to understand the material. His lectures are slow and he always asks if there are questions after every example we work on. His tests are multiple choice but there are A LOT OF choices. The final test, some questions had 16 choices! He is also very nice and can be funny sometimes! Take him!!
This Professor is very direct and clear. His lectures are not complicated or boring at all. The assignments are very easy. There is weekly homework on My math lab but it is very easy & straightforward. The quizzes are very easy and straightforward. Studying the study guide and its answers are very very helpful for getting an easy A on the tests.
He's a great professor. I had him for this class and Math 286. As long as you're interested in the course material and work hard you'll do well in the course. He'll introduce you to mathematical concepts beyond that of what you already know and it'll leave you to ponder and admire mathematics.
Took his 6 week summer class. Let me tell you, this class is hard!! The materia is tough, but this professor is a blessing. After the first test, we had a class wide discussion to see how we could make future tests better. His tests are easier than homework and lecture notes, so youre well prepared. Tests are 60%, but its v possible to get an A/B
I took this Professor for Math 163, 164 and 241 hes very good and teaches very well. I wish every professor was like him. Hes the best Math Professor I have ever taken. Its so sad he doesnt teaches statistics.
If you do all the homework and use all the resources available to you to study his exams and notes, you will get an A and you will pass his class. Hadn't taken a math class in 10 years and he really boosted my math confidence and because of him, I know for a fact I'm ready for Calculus! Amazing person in his office hours too! Please take him!!!!!!!
The best math teacher ever! I took mth 167 and it was a breeze. Attendance is not mandatory. All lecture PDF slides are uploaded after class. Takes time to make sure you understand and answers all questions. Good sense of humor. 3 tests, no cumulative midterm or final. Extra credit on all exams. Gives homework with unlimited attempts.
Konicki is a bit of a challenge as far as his exams go, but if you bug him in office hours he WILL help you and he's very patient about it too. He doesn't say it, but you can tell how excited he gets when he turns low-math confidence people into high-math confidence people. I learned quite a lot in his class. Will never forget him. PS Go to class!
Lectures aren't mandatory, but you'll be screwed if you don't attend. GO TO HIM AT HIS OFFICE HOURS!! He LOVES explaining things until you get it. I'm really not a math genius. I mostly got an A in his class because he helped me understand things. You will learn a LOT. And you'll be a better math student because of him.
He is one of the best professor take him you will pass it easy A but you have to do the homework because it counts 40% of your grade.
Take him !!! what are you waiting for?
I took him two years ago at NOVA. I graduated this Spring. Never met a professor like him again. Such a gem. I wish all math professors were like him, I wouldn't hate math so much. PS He is good looking.
I didn't learn that much from his. He is not very challenging and presented the material in a dull manner. Yawn!!! He didn't go into a lot of detail so I felt like this was more of a high school level calculus course than a college level course. I am currently taking CALC 2 at the MA campus and finding it more challenging.
If you want to take an easy class and you don't really need practice in math this class is an easy pass . He passes through his chapters really quickly and doesn't use much explaining. Dull class. i like to have plenty of practice and like reviewing through the topics.
He is the greatest professor I have ever met! Explains concepts crystal clear. Better than YouTube! I wish he taught Calc 2 p.s. Tests are multiple choice BUT have like 15 choices a pop
Doesn't let you use calculators on test, if you use it during hw or class you're only cheating yourself because you won't have it during exams. If you don't understand something, he'll just repeat himself. You don't get to connect with him or the students around you. He's 10 minutes late 9/10 classes. Good class for people good at math!
Let me just say best professor does not imply the easiest professor. I felt this class was a joke and didn't learn that much. It was more like high school calculus than college level calculus. Even though I got an easy A I feel I must retake but not with him. I will take it at the MA campus.
He is a good professor if you work hard on it.
Did not study and barely did the homework. He is a good professor and in order to pass his class you must do the homework which is 40 percent of your grade and study. Also am not that good at math and it was hard for me to follow this professor in class, Also attendance doesn't matter but you need to pay attention to his lectures. Hes a good prof.
Hw was usually 30 questions & gives you 2 weeks to finish it!! He teaches concepts CLEARLY, provides a study guide for the exams and theyre multiple choice. I wont say its an easy class you deff have to work at it but easy B if you get 100 on HWs and average on exams!!! Take him if youre bad a math because he will teach you concepts.
Great professor hands down! Doesnt rush through the material, hw is worth more so make sure to get 100 on it, exams are multiple choice and cumulative thank goodness!! Take him you wont regret it!
I took Statistics 1 for 6 weeks, where we met 4 times a week for 2 hours. This class was hard. However, if you did all the homework, took down great notes, and studied his practice tests, you should be fine. No electronics, or he will throw you out. All his notes are on Canvas.
He is very nice and caring but all of his tests are multiple choice questions. So you must get the final answer right. Each questions have more than 10 options and two of his questions are extra credit but that didn't help me much. If you are ok with these conditions then you'll probably be ok. But personally I think MCQ for math is a bad idea
get ready to PRACTICE A LOT. His exams are kinda hard. Gives 2 extra credit questions for each test. If you are not good at math, I don't think he is the right choice.
He is a really good professor and I really enjoyed his class. I highly recommend him If you want to learn or enjoy math, but if you have poor math skills you going to struggle with him. He tries really hard for his students to succeed, but only 30%-50% of the class show up to his lectures. Hw is 34% , so better do it and the rest come from 3 exams.
Lectures are him showing concepts and doing example problems on his iPad, explains them well. HW is via WebAssign. MCQ tests, 14-16 questions, 2 are extra credit. I enjoyed his class, but a lot of effort is required to pass, my class went from 33 to 12 people by the end. Must score above 60% in two of his tests, or your grade will turn to an F.
One of NOVA's best; lectures are well organized and to the point. Homework is challenging but definitely helps you focus and develop the ideas needed for the exams. Exam questions aren't as difficult has homework, but you still need to understand the concepts. One concern is that he collects HW at the same date of the exam- no time for feedback.
Prof. Konicki is great! His tests are very reasonable and didn't include any material he hasn't gone over in class or with the online homework. He's very good at explaining mathematic concepts if you hit a roadblock. But for the love of God, show up to class or you might as well drop it.
This is the best Mathematics professor ever!! He literally helps you thru all the steps While making it super interesting. take him if you def. want to understand maths and pass with a good grade!
Honestly one of the best professors at NOVA. He is clear with his work and his lecture notes are a m a z i n g (even converting to online bc of covid). The class isn't easy nor is it hard if you pay attention, take notes, & put an effort into understanding the material. Taking him for calc in the fall. Definitely worth enrolling in his class.
Professor Konicki is an absolute treasure. Super understanding, great and compassionate professor. If you don't understand something, he won't belittle you. He'll find a way to make sure you understand before moving on. Can't sing his praises enough. It's not an easy A, but if you work with him, he'll make sure you won't fail.
Loved how we worked on ex on our own then went over them as a class. Practice is everything (aka the only way to learn math)and he encourages that in his lectures. Not your traditional exam format because they're mcq. He does make that clear on the first day of class tho! Unfortunately, we were faced by a pandemic but he still was very accessible!
Prof. Matthew is one of the most laidback math professor ever. all you have to do are the homework which is long but not too much. also, his exams are multiple-choice
Best profesor ive taken for a math class!!! This was the summer of Covid 6 week online. He just uploaded the recordings of the lecture and we could watch it whenever. And even though it was a 3 hour lecture class the recordings were only an hour. 3 exams , 2 attempts each and was based on hw . I literally ended up with 100%
Took his class because of his high rating on here and I just have to emphasis that he is a good professor for students that are already good in math. I failed his class with a D even w/ a tutor, I avoided retaking PreCalc ever since. I even reconsidered my major! He's a cool person, I'd still say hi to him whenever I saw him on campus.
Great professor. Makes things relatively easy to understand.
Don't recommend at all if you are planning to go into math or engineering. His class is really easy and gives multiple choice exams. You are not going to learn that much and it's more like a high school level. Take someone more challenging otherwise you are not going to be prepared for Calculus 2. Easy does not imply good teacher.
Covid Summer - Class was online, the audio quality of his videos was not the best. I pretty much learn everything on my own by doing the homework. I am not the greatest at math so I put a lot of time and effort to get a good great. I would definitely recommend this class. Multiple chances in HW so easy A. It's all about practice :)
No textbook but uses ALeks program. Lectures makes everything easier to understand its recorded so you can take your time watching it. He's awesome honestly you have to engage with his videos so you can really understand it. Im a business major so I too this and I don't regret it. You won't either!
Love love love Professor Konicki! He gives amazing lectures, very easy to understand.
I took MTH167 with him and at first, his class was good and easy as I like math. Although over time his lectures became longer and his explanations became shorter. Also, he would go over some examples during lectures but in the homework and exam it would be completely different. I was doing very well up until the last couple of weeks of the course.
He is an amazing amazing amazing person and teacher . I have been struggling Math like 3 semester but i am glad i took him. Good thing exams are open note . He is video's are very clear .If you are not good with Math take him.
During our Covid-19 online class, I spent the entire semester doing maths exercises on the Aleks website. The professor, Mr Konicki, is maybe great in person, but online we were completely independent. I haven't heard his voice even once in the whole semester. It's great for independent learners.
He is one of the best! His voice makes learning math easier, for its smooth and not ego driven to make you feel stupid. Though the homework was more than I would want to do, it made sure you understood the concepts. I HIGHLY recommend him! I truly wish he could be my professor for Calculus 1. Took him for pre cal with trig. TAKE HIIM!
As a teacher he is probably amazing in person but online? eh? you have homework worth 28% then 3 exams that's it. There not cumulative and have the possibility with a re-take if you manage to in the time allowed. He is pretty responsive with questions via email there is no "lecture" you watch videos he uploads Im not a fan of test heavy courses
I havent taken a Math course in 12 yrs but I really enjoyed his class! No extra credit. He lets you know up front his expectations. Pre-recorded lectures and using Aleks for weekly homework & tests, IMPORTANT TO KEEP UP otherwise you will not pass. Tests are a few percentage. As long as you do the work you will pass! I really enjoyed his class :)
Great teacher, wants to see you success. Bonus, he's good looking so you won't want to miss class.
I really enjoyed this class, especially because the lectures were pre-recorded and super informative. We do homework and tests through ALEKS, which can be a little annoying, but not so bad. It is important to do the HW, but I would definitely recommend him.
This was my favorite class all semester. He breaks math down into very simple concepts and walks you though some tougher exercises. Homework every week, but it was very entertaining and reinforced the concepts learned in lecture. Honestly, I wish more math professors were like him.
Professor provides prerecorded lectures. You don't have to attend class unless you have questions. I only went to class two times the entire semester. Perfect if you like to learn independently. Pre-recorded lectures can get boring at times. I fell asleep often but its great that I can watch it whenever I want. This class allows you to be flexibl
If you are looking for an easy teacher that's not that challenging then he is your man. If you are looking for a teacher that will prepare and challenge then he is not the guy to take. It was an easy for A and he didn't go into that much detail. There are much better choices out there but hey if you want a 'free' grade then by all means.
he uses aleks for homework and tests overall the best, If you want an A and learn take him, he is the best. really caring drops the lowest hw AND only 3 tests no FINAL
Professor Konicki is one of, if not the best, math professors at NOVA. His lectures teach you exactly what you need to know. Does examples in class, answers questions in class, and always asks if people understand. Homework is graded, has 3 tests total. Offers extra credit on tests. The class is hard but put in the time and you will succeed.
Great professor! Really recommend taking him, he gives extra credit opportunities and is really understanding. Attendance isn't mandatory, but recommend you show up to understand the lectures. HW is on Aleks system, but isn't too difficult. If you have the chance, take his class!
I was expecting Professor Konicki to be just like my previous math professors (that being incompetent). To my great surprise he was far from it. His lectures are good. They cover exactly what you need to know and you can tell he is passionate about math. The homework can be tedious but does help. He grades exams quickly. I would take his him again.
He is the best Math teacher I have ever had. His explanation is easy to understand, and I recommend his class because you will learn so much from him. My overall grade is 100%.
Math class depends on the Professor's teaching style. If you get a nice Professor, you will be the luckiest. Professor Konicki was very helpful and nice. I wish I could've taken other classes with him but unfortunately, I can't:') That class was my favorite out of all. If you want to learn math in a simple way, pick this class! You will love this:)
I'm not great at math, Professor Konicki made it somewhat easier for me to understand, though it was still difficult for me. His course is like "Math for Dummies" or those who struggle in Math. He makes it as easy as he can. Barely edged out a C in this course which is what I needed so I'm happy (I think he was generous with me and curved it).
This professor is the professor to take for Discrete Math. He explains each topic thoroughly, and provides numerous examples in class. Assuming you put the effort in, you will get a good grade. Listen to him when he says that proofs are hard. However, don't be discouraged. The first and third tests are easy.
Great professor with an exemplary level of expertise on the subject matter. His tests are not the easiest things ever and require an in-depth understanding of the course material to pass. Exams were open-note and multiple-choice with a 2 question grace policy. He uses simple real-life examples to make complex and abstract concepts easy to take in.
Professor Konicki knows exactly how to teach math. Beware this class is kind of asynchronous no live lecture. but all recorded and homework after. It fits perfectly for me but it might not be for all.
Profes Konicki is very well educated in his field. He knows how to teach the students. He is able to teach discrete math like a champ, however, due to the difficulty of the course, even with a good profes, that course students will struggle. The only setback is that sometimes his HWs are extremely difficult and u'll sit there hours tryna finish it.
I'm so glad I enrolled in his online course this past semester. Because his courses were pre-recorded, attendance was not mandatory, which was a blessing given my hectic schedule. He does hold live Zoom meetings for those that need additional assistance or have questions. He is quick to respond to messages. Definitely recommend.
Great professor. I took the 6 week course and it was the easiest online math class. Just do the homework and watch the lectures and you'll be good. Homework ranges from 20-34 questions. Exams were 17 questions. He helps when you need it.
Great Professor.
Ima keep it real with you he is 50/50. He accused most of my class for cheating even though every test and quiz was open note, like bro thats on you. The lectures can get stale at times but we also got lecture videos that helped on anything that was difficult. Word of advice, don't do a question too quick or he's gonna think you're cheating.
The majority of math teachers I've had never engage with the class. Matthew is the opposite. He's approachable, friendly and will spend as long as you need to nail a topic. The only downside to the class was that nothing was posted on canvas, it all gets posted on dropbox instead. Overall however, I'd highly recommend the class.
Professor Konicki will be the best Stat teacher you can take at Nova, Super helpful but THIS CLASS IS NOT EASY, BE PREPARED TO THINK CRITICALLY, HE WILL HELP YOU ALONG THE WAY BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO DO ALLLLLL OF THE LEG WORK, NO EASY A's, professor Konicki is very nice, funny, but is no none-sense, paying attention and asking questions also helps.
I took him during the pandemic, it's all online for the first time. He's such a tech savvy that he recorded all the lectures and uploaded on dropbox. The class was super easy. He also showed tricks to do the math quicker.
Math is not my strong subject but he makes it pretty easy to learn the topic and covers it multiple times. There are times where he makes you feel real stupid but its all in the name of helping you learn. His tests are tough so be prepared but I would totally recommend his class as he has helped me learn and do better then I thought I could.
Such a great professor! Really knows his stats and uses calculators to teach students. Takes a little while to get used to his pace in teaching but give him 2 or 3 classes before changing your mind. Overall, 100% recommend taking him for stats. Also if you are an IT major at GMU, you can knock this class out at nova for cheaper price.
He has clear lectures about all the topics that would be on the homework and tests. You need to go to every class, but if you go and pay attention, he clearly explains everything and is willing to answer any questions. There is also extra credit opportunities on every test worth a whole question.
I am not the greatest at math, but he just reads off of his lecture slides, and that's the only thing he goes over while expecting you to grasp the concepts just from that. Cant really practice with his example problems because they're too simple when its compared to his test questions. And he does not give partial credit..at all. He is nice though
Makes math easy for you, if you want to learn.
he was an ok professor. he gets up and lectures. powerpoint are detailed but he doesn't put the calculator stuff on them so make sure to not miss class or else youll miss that. he would get mad at the class when we couldn't recall things at the start of class but then we would get on a roll and he'd lose the attitude
Professor Konicki is easily one of the best math professors out there. He gives insightful lectures that force you to rethink everything you think you know about math. He strikes a nice balance between math theory and application: giving concrete examples of theoretical subjects and theoretical examples of concrete subjects. Take his class!
He was a pretty good professor but for someone who's really bad at math his lectures were very much not for me! He gives the information very forward but don't ask questions about a unit that's passed because he'll berate you in front of everyone for asking old questions :/ Tests are difficult but easy if you know what you're doing
one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. put minimal effort and got an A. Just pick him if you have the chance
He taught our class until Spring break, then a tutor had to replace him (was not his fault). But for the duration I had him, he was an amazing lecturer, had a great sense of humor, and was an overall effective teacher! I just had a terrible experience with the 2nd half of this course, which was a big mess because it wasn't being taught by him.
absence makes the heart grow fonder... his absence in particular truly made me appreciate what a great teacher he was in the first half of this discrete course... sure, the course was a walk in the park after he left, but i didn't learn half as much & i didn't get what i paid for honestly. one of the best professors ive had at NOVA
Professor Konicki has always been, and will always be highly regarded and respected for being an incredible instructor at NVCC. His lectures were engaging, his notes were detailed and laid out on Canvas, and our work was challenging but rewarding. The tutor who took over the class did what he could, but he could never compare to Prof Konicki.
The exams were not "watered down", he is not an "easy-A" type of professor (he always made sure that we were prepared for exams, and challenged us fairly), and Justin Cox is not that great of a tutor/TA.
Overall not too bad but the course is lacking that rigor component. If you just want the easy A take him, otherwise if you want to really learn DM there are better options. Easy A...no problem.
I don't recommend this professor for precalculus. I found his exams too easy and feel like I am not prepared for calculus. I am thinking about retaking MTH 167 with another teacher. Strongly not recommend especially if you plan on taking calculus.
Review bombers would want you to believe that his courses are "too easy" or that his assignments "lack rigor", but those false statements could not be further from the truth. Simply looking back at past reviews will tell you all you need to know. Professor Konicki is amazing in all aspects, and that makes some people upset for some reason..
If you have a question, this professor will genuinely do all that he can possibly do in order to make sure you understand. He is a professor who explains the problem to the very last detail to make sure that his students understand. Great professor.
Zoom class, all pre-recorded- you meet on the days directed just to clear up questions. Gives you a sheet of exercises to solve on your own. U can also ask abt them at the meeting. Exams are same format as exercises. Concise class structure and teaching style. He is the kinda guy who won't repeat himself, can be hard if you got some knowledge gaps
Prof. Konicki's MTH288 class is challenging but rewarding. His engaging lectures and detailed notes on Canvas make the material accessible. For study prep, I found unstuck ai and the free textbook really helpful alongside going to class.
Lessons were pre-recorded and zoom time was for any questions with the practice, I liked this format especially because it allowed time for me to write down notes without feeling the need to be rushed! He is very clear with every step of the problem, which made learning a lot easier. Would take again if he taught calculus!
There were video lectures assigned, usually two per week, but some times only one, and then ALEKs for homework as well as practice worksheets which were based on previous test questions. I really enjoyed this format as I didn't feel rushed to take notes during the lecture, and the practice worksheets really helped when studying for the 3 exams.
The best math lectures in all of Nova -- super engaging and funny. The class was hard though and not much room for error regarding grading.
I wouldn't say he's the best at teaching math since he skips a lot of details, but he's decent. In my opinion, the class felt more like a high school course—it was a bit too easy. I really appreciated the tutor's help. If you're just looking for an easy A, I can see why students take his class, but if you want more rigor, there are better options.
"Reverse lecture" format, watch lectures at your own pace and meet to ask questions. I preferred this to standard format, lectures were thorough and well edited. Homework was Aleks and worksheets, one of each for each topic, was good review and the homework matched the level of difficulty of exams. Would take again if he taught calc.
This professor lecture is unclear, he just copy the answer of the question from his laptop and write it even you can not catch it. I dont recommended, dont take his class!!!!
If you're an anxious test taker, DO NOT take his class. I ended up failing for the sole reason that I bombed the first test. He requires a 70% average test grade, but only provides 3 tests. His lectures were informative, his methods for grading were terrible. I get why people like him, but this 3 test rule is not only ridiculous, but unrealistic.
This was the most horrid experience I've ever had taking a math class. His recorded lessons are a voiceover on a PowerPoint slide of him reading in monotone for over an hour. He skips steps and doesn't explain thoroughly. We only have 3 exams and they are weighed heavily . He can be snarky and rude . This class gave me anxiety!!
If you struggle with math in general, please do yourself a favor... do not take his online class. If you're proficient and know what you're doing, by all means take your chances. I'm sure he is a decent teacher outside of virtual but save yourself the trouble if you need an online stats professor, pick someone else.
Great intro to stats! The class was hybrid with clear, recorded lectures and weekly Zoom Q&As. The test practice was incredibly helpful for tests, and I rarely needed to attend the Zooms because everything was so well explained in the lectures. I enjoyed this class!
Very monotone and does not make class exciting in the slightest but its a math class. Very light homework only once a week and only 3 tests so not a lot of work just a lot of content.
He is very straight to the point, explains in full detail. If you don't understand something he will show you other ways to do the problems. ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND SOMETHING !!!! HE WILL SHOW/EXPLAIN TO YOU!! Loved his class, definitely recommend. I struggled with fractions but he made it easy for me to understand and to work out.
He is a good proffesor who explains the different math subjects well. The homework is given pretty much every class but the homework is not harder than what you learn in class and sometimes it is even easier, same goes for the tests.
