Prof. Kroenig's lectures are really interesting. He presents everything very clearly and is entertaining as well. He assigns a lot of reading, but since he summarizes it so well in lectures it's not bad. The TA's do grade everything, but it's not difficult to do well as long as you get the general idea of things from his lectures.

Prof. really puts effort into the class, and in certainly pays off. Readings are short and interesting, lectures are well prepared. Kroening breaks things down very clearly- depending on what type of student you are that can be somewhat frustrating, as more complex themes from the text are often ignored. Not tons of work, A- is doable, A can be hrd

Professor Kroenig is a VERY organized lecturer - attend every class and take good notes and you have everything you need to know for the tests. However, tests/papers are graded subjectively and therefore it is hard to get an A. Kroenig's use of YouTube videos is stupid, but it keeps people entertained, I suppose. Some of his "humor" is awful.

Go to the lectures, copy word-for-word what he says, regurgitate it during recitation & on the exams, and you're on your way to an A. There is no actual learning in this class or brain stimulation. It's mostly just appreciating-his-looks & working on your rote-memory. If you want to learn, avoid him. If you want an A, go for it.

Kroenig definitely knows his stuff. The lectures are thorough and rather interesting, depending on the topic. Grading is pretty rough with the midterm and final being worth 45% of the grade. Your experience depends on your TA for the most part, as Kroenig is involved much outside of lectures (busy guy). Overall, not a bad choice.

Kroenig did a good job of teaching the material. He's very accomplished, but he came across as being extremely arrogant. He was almost always late to class, he flexed a lot, he made us read a lot of his work, and sometimes it felt like he had better places to be. Grading is TA based, and the 40% rule makes getting an A hard. Decent choice.

Kroenig is amazing. Comes off super arrogant(assigns his own works and name drops)but this man is a great teacher and SO well-versed in his subject. 2 exams 45% each and 10% participation. Grading depends on your TA, but I loved this class and would take him again in a heartbeat. Lectures are great too, clear and interesting. But do the readings!!

He's very cocky but tbh he has a had a really cool career. The class concepts are very straight forward, and I didn't do a single reading because he goes over everything in lecture. Your grade is determined almost entirely by 2 exams which can be stressful if one doesn't go well but overall I think it's a great class.

In Spring 2021 the class was 45% midterm (timed paper, open note), 45% final, 10% participation, which was insane. His lectures were usually engaging and well- organized. Grading really depends on TA, kind of a hit or miss. Readings were intense but they were only necessary to reference on the midterm/ final.

Lectures drove me to sleep early on, but the applications part of IR was interesting. Note that for online classes he cut the paper, so the 45% for the midterm/final may not apply in person. Midterm/final were functionally papers anyways and were open book. Readings were lengthy, but Kroenig is decent enough for IR. TA decides your grade!

His teaching was often very stiff and boring, but he does know a lot about international relations. Grade was based off 2 exams, and there was no homework grade.

Kroenig is a God. Some people hate him but that's just because they can't fathom having as much swag as Kroenig. Take good notes that go beyond what's on the powerpoint and you will be fine. Also, participation slightly matters, but that should be easy since his lectures are super interesting.

Lectures can be dry, but not too complex. Basically the whole grade is based on the midterm and final, with a little participation. Tests are easy enough but to get an A over an A minus does require actually listening to lectures. A good class if you want something to not have to work for, but for developing a deeper IR knowledge look elsewhere.

One of the best professors I've ever had. People do not like him mostly because of differing pov. Lectures are super easy, do the reading. Grading is a bit harsh - TA does it and provides no feedback, which is frustrating. Participation matters. Ask him questions. He is a professor someone should definitely take while studying at Georgetown.

I definitely learned a lot in this class, and lectures are pretty interesting. However your grade is almost completely determined by a midterm and final exam, which is frustrating because it is all graded by the TA (who has a harsh rubric and gives vague feedback). Definitely have to take notes/ pay attention in class and participate.

He obviously is very qualified and knows what he is talking about, but the grading criteria can be elusive and arbitrary at times. The content is straightforward but the grading is not.

Blind to his own unconscious beliefs, Kroenig teaches an ISecurity without humanity. The overwhelmingly positive ratings for his classes are very scary. Also, 90% of the grade are 2 midterms that pick on specific details.

Kroenig is a solid lecturer - a bit dry, but effective - with a distinguished career. The exams are straighforward and test on lecture content, not readings. Personality-wise, he is suave but smug, and lacks warmth. I'd like to believe he cares about his students, but he needs to work on being more approachable/human. You get used to him though.
